The summary provides an overview of the key phases and activities involved in the video producer and UX researcher roles based on the information presented in the document:
The document outlines the discovery, ideation, and execution phases for both a video producer and UX researcher role. For both roles, discovery involves conducting interviews to understand needs, pain points, or stories, ideation analyzes findings for patterns and themes, and execution iterates on a draft until a final product. While the video producer edits video and the UX researcher creates design deliverables, both roles balance stakeholder requirements and creative choices based on expertise.
I HAVE ATTACHED A PPT CONSIST OF VARIOUS COMMANDS OF MICROSOFT PROJECT.
I HAVE INCLUDED INTRODUCTION TO MACROS, WHICH ARE BEING USED IN NORMAL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.
I HOPE YOU LIKE IT. REVIEWS & SUGGESTIONS ARE MOST WELCOME.
As CTO's become harder to find, the need for non-technical entrepreneurs to be able to communicate effectively with developers becomes more relevant. This is a guide meant to introduce the subject of project management for non-techies so that they have a good chance of expressing their vision accurately to their engineers.
Rather humorous old presentation that JEff Eisen and I did about the desing of Notes 8.
I especially like the slides that say "Dev likes the designs but says "Are you crazy? We can't implement that!"

2. Video Producer & Editor
Stakeholders
● Balance requirements of client (especially as freelancer) and
opinions/skills of other creatives.
● Must defend creative choices but know when to acquiesce.
Discovery
● I’m an expert at getting people to talk -- learned from hours of
conducting video interviews, and sourcing product expert
knowledge for writing scripts.
● With video interviews, aim to bring out genuine emotions from
subject.
Ideation
● Take results from Discovery & look for patterns, trends, and
the main emotional storyline.
● Outputs: Start creating/organizing video edit.
Execution
● Iterate on edit until have a final “cut”.
● Sometimes able to collect more footage, but often stuck with
what’s been shot and have to figure it out.
UX Researcher
Stakeholders
● Balance requirements of business and opinions/skills of other
creatives.
● Must defend creative choices and decisions based on user research.
Discovery
● Conduct user interviews, aiming to discover genuine pain points and
needs.
● The user is the expert on what they want.
Ideation
● Analyze results from Discovery phase
● Look for patterns, trends, and the main emotional storyline.
● Outputs: Personas, Information architecture, wireframes.
Execution
● Iterate on wireframes until have a final “cut”.
● Ideally continue to test and collect more research, but budget and
timeline limitations may require executing based on available
information.
10. The “Projects” section is the Default page for Project Managers when they open Taskly.
Version 1
Version 2
Version 3
Version 4/5
11. Projects Page, Version 1
Projects Drop-Down:
View one project at a
time, or all projects.
Progress / Calendar
Tabs - Switch between
milestones view and
calendar view. Can look
at next to Projects list.
Big Buttons for Major
Project Manager Actions:
- New Project
- Add Event
- Add Task
Auto-Prioritzed Task
List (with filters) -
Taskly automatically
bubbles most pressing
tasks to top of “Top
Tasks” list. Filters (in
drop-down) will reveal
different tasks, such as
Blocked Tasks or
Unassigned Tasks.
View Task Button on
each task - Opens
Pop-up with all the Task
details, including
Commenting section
12. Projects Dashboard v1 - Progress View Projects Dashboard v1 - Calendar View
“Where is the calendar?”
“Is this clickable?”
New Project & New Event don’t need to be
shown all the time. Users were already looking
for them close to New Projects Drop-down and
Calendar anyways.
“Calendar is too small.”
When the user clicks here, they want to see
the Calendar so make it bigger.
Users went to “Account” to add
new team members, which is
actually an administrative settings
section.
Too much visually asking for
my attention on one page --
Where should the user look?
Projects Page, Version 1: Testing Results
13. Changed “Account” to
“Settings” - So doesn’t appear
that you can add new user accounts
here.
Calendar Moved to Main Menu - Brought “Calendar” into high-level menu to
see if users will access more.
Version 2 User Testing: User kept going back to Calendar page.
Visually divided Navigation
for Project Manager: what they
can see on right & what Team
can see on left:
- My Dashboard, Team,
Calendar is visible to team.
- Project Manager, Clients is
only Project Managers.
“Add Team Member” &
“Add Task” are only main
buttons.
● Moved “New Project” into
Projects Drop-down
● “New Event” is only visible
under Calendar.
Moved “New Project”
into Projects
Drop-down. a) Users
were looking for it there,
b) Infrequent action so
OK to hide.
Added Search in
Projects Dropdown to
facilitate switching projects
faster. Will search Active and
Archived Projects.
Version 2 User Testing: “
“Where is the Milestone on
each task?”
Projects Page, Version 2
14. Moved Project Drop-down
- Quickly change to individual projects or
All Active Projects on any page of site.
- Drop-down was within page sections,
but it was confusing if changing for just
Projects section or entire site.
- “Viewing” makes it clear the user is
changing current view. Can also quickly
glance current view.
Added “Total Progress” section
so PM can quickly glance high level
progress.
- Progress bar shows % of total
tasks completed
- Shows each project’s final due
date and next milestone
- Quick Project Symbol Legend
“Add Task” is highlighted in
main navigation on all
pages since a main &
frequent action for PMs.
- Moved “Add Team Member”
to only “Team” section,
where users were looking
for it anyway.
Added “Upcoming MIlestones”,
showing Next Milestone for each active
project.
- Can use arrows to skip
forward/back to see other
milestones.
- Clicking on Milestone
automatically loads that
Milestones’ tasks in Tasks list
on right (expected by users)
Added associated milestone for
Tasks
- Instead of Priority. Can still see
Priority when “View Task”
Projects Page, Version 3
Too much going on. Not
answering PM’s big question:
What needs my immediate
attention?
Added “Search Tasks” to Task List
- Search missing from previous
iteration.
15. Projects Page, Version 4
Search & “New Task”
highlighted at top
- Frequent actions
- Typing in search bar drops
down Search list, which user
can select from.
“New Project” button
only on Projects page.
Top Navigation Simplified
- My Tasks: User manages their
assigned tasks
- Team Tasks: User views what
team members are working on.
- Calendar
- Projects (Clients are now
accessible via clicking on their name
in individual Projects widget.)
- Notifications: Messages &
Updates (see next slides)
Logged In as
Clickable to edit current user’s
account settings. All other
settings are editable within
relevant sections.
Project Widgets
- Each widget shows: Project name,
Final Due Date, Client, Team,
Progress towards next milestone.
- Each section is clickable: Helps
Project Manager to focus..
- Project Manager can quickly
glance progress towards next
milestone on each project.
