Kunal Bahl is the Indian entrepreneur and CEO of Snapdeal, an e-commerce company based in India. After failing to get into IIT, Bahl studied in the US and started his own detergent company. He co-founded Snapdeal in 2010 with his friend Rohit Bansal. Snapdeal has received over $1 billion in funding over 7 rounds from investors like SoftBank, Alibaba and others. It offers discounts on products across categories. Bahl has received several awards and recognition for his success with Snapdeal.

2. ABOUT KUNAL BAHL
 Kunal is an Indian entrepreneur , co founder and CEO of e-
commerce platform Snapdeal.
 Kunal born in India had completed his initial school
education at Delhi Public School (DPS) New Delhi.
 On his consecutive failure to get admission at Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT), Kunal went to USA and got
his bachelor's degree in engineering from University of
Pennsylvania.
 Kunal received his business degree from the Wharton
School and finished an executive marketing program from
Kellogg School of Management.

 While studying in the US Kunal started a detergent
company and worked to sell his product at Walmart stores.
 Kunal had worked with Microsoft for a short period as he
was deported from USA to India due to some visa issue in
2008.

 Snapdeal is an e-commerce company based in India.
 It is a daily deals website that features discount offer across
lifestyle segments such as dining, health & beauty,
entertainment and travel. It also offers discounts on
products like electronics, perfumes, watches ,
bags,sunglasses, coaching classes,apparels and mobile
phones.
 Headquartered in Delhi, Snapdeal was launched in february
2010. The company was founded by Kunal Bahl, a
Wharton graduate and Rohit Bansal, a alumnus of IIT Delhi
who were friends since schools.

5. HOW DOES SNAPDEAL.COM EARNS
 Snapdeal(SD) gets the besoffer possible from the merchants
from around 65 cities across India and then deducts a small
amount of commission.
 SD aims at showing atleast 40-90%off in the deals from
what actually one haa to pay. Depending upon how good
the offer is,SD, deducts their commission starting from Rs.
99 going upto Rs. 299.

6. SNAPDEAL: FUNDINGS OF SNAPDEAL
 Snapdeal has received 7 rounds of funding:
• Round 1: In January 2011, Snapdeal received a funding of
$12 million from Nexus Venture Partners and Indo-US
Venture Partners.
• Round 2: In July 2011, the company raised a further $45
million from Bessemer Venture Partners, along with
existing investors Nexus Venture Partners and Indo-US
Venture Partners.
• Round 3: Snapdeal then raised a 3rd round of funding
worth $50 million from eBay and received participation
from existing investors – i.e. Bessemer Venture Partners,
Nexus Venture and IndoUS Venture Partners.

 Round 4: Snapdeal received its 4th round of funding of
$133 million on Feb-2014. The 4th round of funding was
led by eBay with all the current institutional investors,
including Kalaari Capital, Nexus Venture Partners,
Bessemer Venture Partners, Intel Capital and Saama Capital
all participating.
 Round 5: Snapdeal received its 5th round of funding of
$105 million in May-2014. The 5th round included
investments by Blackrock, Temasek Holdings, PremjiInvest
and others. The round valued Snapdeal at $1,000,000,000.
 Round 6: Snapdeal received its 6th round of funding in
Oct-2014 from Softbank with investments worth $647
million in fresh capital.This makes SoftBank the largest
investor in Snapdeal.

 Round 7: Snapdeal received its 7th round of funding in
Aug-2015 from Alibaba Group, Foxconn and SoftBank
with investments worth $500 million in fresh capital.
