The Basadur profile is a Canadian online profiling system for creative problem solving in areas of team
design and team dynamics management. It is an essential tool for providing participants with the necessary
understanding of their unique ā€˜work style preferenceā€™ and how this preference can influence the way they
tackle problems or challenges
Ian Corbett, a guru in this field of Basadur profiling, will conduct an interactive session based on this and
will require each delegate to go online and complete a quick profile before the event.

Interested participants should please tick the Basadur Profiling box in the registration form attached.

                     MOTIVATION
Globally, society is undergoing a dramatic transition from the industrial & information age towards a new era
of brainpower knowledge-based age. This move towards the knowledge society and knowledge economy affects
both the micro-economic and macro-economic sectors of our everyday life so much that investment in these so-
called ā€˜intangible businessā€™ or the ā€˜intelligenceā€“age industriesā€™ is increasing, accounting for the rapid growth in social
networking businesses, software companies, soft-sale companies like entertainment, advertising, brand solutions and
human resource companies. This new industrial shift is re-writing the paradigm of business evaluation and investment,
as knowledge-management - both intangible knowledge (ideas, workforce skills & talent) and tangible knowledge
(physical & material) - and intellectual capital (IC), have become the benchmark for assessing a companyā€™s true
worth. The actual worth of a company accounts for its ā€˜true market valueā€™ in terms of business, market leadership,
investments, mergers and acquisitions. However, it is how to capitalise and leverage this value to gain market control
and competitive edge that is crucial to the growth and sustainability of the organisation.

Africa industrial leaders are yet to fully value and manage intellectual capital for optimal economic growth, competitive
advantage and market leadership. It is widely accepted that only through careful and sustainable appreciation of these
new ā€˜intangibleā€™ resources can companies be enabled to better achieve their corporate goal and excellence. So, in these
days of global challenges and financial meltdown, how does KM and IC change the way we do business?

Knowledge Management, creativity & innovation in practice
The move towards the knowledge society and knowledge economy affects both the micro-economic and macro-
economic sectors of our everyday life. This change which is so dynamic affects the ā€œtraditionalā€ industries or ā€œFirstā€
and ā€œSecondā€ Phase industries (referred to as the Mechanical and Technology-age industries respectively). The
knowledge economy has a far-reaching impact on the value creation process, emphasizing creativity and innovation,
networks and personal connectivity, communication and knowledge flow. How well you respond to these changing
demands influences how well you meet customer expectations, the quality of your services and products, and
ultimately the financial success - or otherwise - of your business. Thereā€™s never been a better time than the present
to explore the possibilities of collective intelligence and capability of your organisation in improving performance
and value; so that South Africaā€™s rapidly emerging economy, not only remains globally competitive, but equally
     grows progressively.

Building capability for future economic growth
A global shift in business mindset shows that investment in so-called ā€˜intangible businessā€™ or the ā€˜intelligenceā€“age
industriesā€™ is increasing, accounting for the rapid growth in social networking businesses, software companies, soft-
sale companies like entertainment, advertising, brand solutions and human resource companies. This has become
the new focus area in first world countries. How does this impact on economic growth, particularly in Africa?
Does your organisation have the capabilities it needs to compete and grow? This session introduces principles and
processes that can help achieve economic emancipation.

You will gain an appreciation of some key principles behind:

COURSE AGENDA DAY 2 AM

Intellectual Capital and brand value proposition
A great percentage of todayā€™s global economic value-creation is based on ā€˜intangibleā€™ resources. However, most
organisations still do not have the appropriate management processes to measure the value of these resources. Even
more so, they donā€™t know how to benchmark on these resources to achieve future value creation. How do you value
the strength and worth of a brand against its intellectual capital? How do you initiate the appropriate corporate
governance to achieve this brand value proposition? How does your organisationā€™s internal communication system
impact on your brand value? How can you quantify and measure this? These are some questions this session hopes
to address

You will learn:
The strength of the brand via its intellectual capital
ā€¢ The essence of good corporate governance to achieve brand strength
ā€¢ Strategies for retaining talent
ā€¢ Internal communication and its impact on brand value
Quantifiable measures for strategic value management
ā€¢ How ā€˜intangiblesā€™ can become quantifiable factors ā€“ ie, profitability
ā€¢ Establishing effective metrics ā€“ looking at financial, operational and performance indices
             as value proposition
ā€¢ Boosting competitiveness and growth through correct intellectual capital asset value
ā€¢ Identifying IC niche market potential and leveraging it: what is your brandā€™s unique proposition?
ā€¢ Disclosing ā€˜intangiblesā€™ for exploitation purposes
ā€¢ Exploitative value proposition ā€“ mergers and acquisition, sale of value asset, joint venture
             proposition of licensing agreement
ā€¢ Capitalisation of historic profits: assessing brand value in light of corporate management, market share,
             market trend, advertising and marketing

       COURSE AGENDA DAY 2 PM
Performance Improvement and Talent Retention for positive growth
Intellectual Capital provides the most valued tool for effective management of non-financial assets of an organisation.
But Intellectual Capital itself cannot be valued on its own, if there is no strategy for performance improvement and
talent retention in that organisation. Retaining talent and improving skill through consistent training, increases
knowledge and capacity to execute tasks effectively, but it is not always sustainable. This of course translates to
performance improvement and efficiency in production or service. Value-creation, which is the basis of knowledge
Management, cannot effectively be quantified in terms of return on investment if there is no sound performance
management strategy to plan and measure improvement and growth. This session looks at how performance
management and talent retention can increase intellectual capital value and accelerate growth.

You will learn:
Strategic Performance Alignment
ā€¢ Strategic Planning for performance improvement
ā€¢ Competency identification and performance potential PROGRAMME SCHEDULE
ā€¢ Balanced scorecard performance indicators

  • 2. NOT-TO-BE-MISSED SPECIAL FEATURE: The Basadur online Proļ¬le The Basadur profile is a Canadian online profiling system for creative problem solving in areas of team design and team dynamics management. It is an essential tool for providing participants with the necessary understanding of their unique ā€˜work style preferenceā€™ and how this preference can influence the way they tackle problems or challenges Ian Corbett, a guru in this field of Basadur profiling, will conduct an interactive session based on this and will require each delegate to go online and complete a quick profile before the event. Interested participants should please tick the Basadur Profiling box in the registration form attached. MOTIVATION Globally, society is undergoing a dramatic transition from the industrial & information age towards a new era of brainpower knowledge-based age. This move towards the knowledge society and knowledge economy affects both the micro-economic and macro-economic sectors of our everyday life so much that investment in these so- called ā€˜intangible businessā€™ or the ā€˜intelligenceā€“age industriesā€™ is increasing, accounting for the rapid growth in social networking businesses, software companies, soft-sale companies like entertainment, advertising, brand solutions and human resource companies. This new industrial shift is re-writing the paradigm of business evaluation and investment, as knowledge-management - both intangible knowledge (ideas, workforce skills & talent) and tangible knowledge (physical & material) - and intellectual capital (IC), have become the benchmark for assessing a companyā€™s true worth. The actual worth of a company accounts for its ā€˜true market valueā€™ in terms of business, market leadership, investments, mergers and acquisitions. However, it is how to capitalise and leverage this value to gain market control and competitive edge that is crucial to the growth and sustainability of the organisation. Africa industrial leaders are yet to fully value and manage intellectual capital for optimal economic growth, competitive advantage and market leadership. It is widely accepted that only through careful and sustainable appreciation of these new ā€˜intangibleā€™ resources can companies be enabled to better achieve their corporate goal and excellence. So, in these days of global challenges and financial meltdown, how does KM and IC change the way we do business? BENEFITS OF ATTENDING This workshop is designed to raise corporate awareness about the growing importance of knowledge management and intellectual capital in driving economic growth, and to identify key processes and strategies that can help busi- nesses and government develop growth strategies that better utilize these assets. By attending this two day plenary Masterclass you will gain: ā€¢ Insights and Approaches to managing knowledge economy ā€¢ Expert strategies and ideas for creative knowledge management ā€¢ Detailed processes for establishing necessary building blocks for future economic growth ā€¢ Capacity to develop a framework to quantify intellectual capital value ā€¢ Tactical methods to enhance the market value of intellectual capital ā€¢ Leading-edge expertise on how to remain a dominant and competitive market force WHO SHOULD ATTEND CEOs, Senior Executives and Emerging Leaders in corporate institutions: ā€¢ Board Directors, Entrepreneurs ā€¢ Leaders and Advisors in Health services and Business Owners or industries ā€¢ Thought leaders and Innovation Managers ā€¢ Educators - Principals, Teachers, Academics ā€¢ Personal Development Specialists and Administrators ā€¢ Regional Directors, Heads of Departments, ā€¢ NGOs and CSR Professionals Senior Managers ā€¢ Creative Directors ā€¢ Organisation Development Managers ā€¢ Entertainment Managers ā€¢ HR Managers ā€¢ Media Executives ā€¢ Business Development Managers ā€¢ Government officers ā€¢ Executive and Organisational Coaches GLOBAL PROSPECTUS TRAINING (PTY) LTD. • 4. COURSE AGENDA DAY 1 AM Knowledge Management, creativity & innovation in practice The move towards the knowledge society and knowledge economy affects both the micro-economic and macro- economic sectors of our everyday life. This change which is so dynamic affects the ā€œtraditionalā€ industries or ā€œFirstā€ and ā€œSecondā€ Phase industries (referred to as the Mechanical and Technology-age industries respectively). The knowledge economy has a far-reaching impact on the value creation process, emphasizing creativity and innovation, networks and personal connectivity, communication and knowledge flow. How well you respond to these changing demands influences how well you meet customer expectations, the quality of your services and products, and ultimately the financial success - or otherwise - of your business. This of course translates to performance improvement and efficiency in production or service. Value-creation, which is the basis of knowledge Management, cannot effectively be quantified in terms of return on investment if there is no sound performance management strategy to plan and measure improvement and growth.
