1. Kite Runner Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Kite Runner" can be both challenging and rewarding. The
novel, written by Khaled Hosseini, delves into complex themes such as betrayal, redemption,
and the impact of personal choices on one's life. To produce a compelling essay, one must
thoroughly analyze the characters, plot, and underlying messages within the narrative.
Navigating through the intricacies of Amir and Hassan's relationship, as well as exploring the
cultural and historical backdrop of Afghanistan, requires a deep understanding of the novel's
nuances. Addressing the character development, narrative structure, and symbolism demands
meticulous attention to detail.
Moreover, the task involves interpreting the author's intentions, dissecting the impact of socio-
political events, and connecting these elements to broader human experiences. This requires not
only critical thinking but also the ability to articulate complex ideas coherently.
Creating a standout essay on "Kite Runner" involves going beyond mere plot summaries and
delving into the emotional and psychological dimensions of the characters. It requires a skillful
blend of literary analysis, contextual understanding, and insightful commentary.
While the journey of composing such an essay may be challenging, the end result can be
immensely gratifying. It provides an opportunity to engage with profound themes and contribute
a unique perspective to the literary discourse surrounding "Kite Runner."

2. Occupational Safety And Health Act
The Occupational Safety and Health Act passed in 1970. This act signals an
important moment in occupational safety and health. Prior to 1970, the occupational
safety and health were unsatisfactory. In fact, many accidents occurred in the
workplace because of chemicals, dusts, and dangerous machines. There were many
hazards in the workplace that contributed to terrible injuries and fatalities.
Furthermore, in 1970 an estimated 14,000 workers were killed on the job. After the
Occupational Safety and HealthAct passed, the number of injuries have declined.
Previously, businesses were not concerned about hazards in the workplace The
Occupational Safety and Health Act is an important topic to address because it led
the way for occupational safety and health. I choose to research this law in a
greater depth because I found it interesting how this law changed how businesses
prepare to prevent occupational health and safety hazards. There were minimal
efforts to ensure workplace health and safety. When people were injured or died,
they were easily replaced. In fact, it was cheaper to replace a worker than to actual
implement safety measures. Furthermore, the tort law did not help the survivors of
dead workers or injured employees. Over the years, there were minimal
improvements. Eventually labor unions formed and public anger about poor
workplace safety grew which led to a reduction in employee worker accidents for
some time. After World War II, people were concerned about winning
3. The Importance Of Sound In Void
Stanley Kubrick once said: A film is or should be more like music than like fiction.
It should be a progression of moods and emotions. And what could be better than
sound to alter people s emotions and feelings? In Void , sound played such a
significant role in the storytelling that you could understand the whole movie just by
the soundof it. The importance of sound in enhancing our understanding of the story
and its emotional impact on the audienceis emphasized especially in the fourth
chapter, the one about Diamand: a young girl affected by the disappearance of her
father during the Lebanese Civil War.
First of all, the chapter starts with a scene of her breaking up with her boyfriend: the
actions match the sounds produced such as the sound of the bike, the chair moving
and of course their conversation. It s followed by a scene at the bar. The background
noise reflects the environment they re in; loud music and people socializing. The

As a matter of fact, she asked him the same question three times, and there was a
moment of silence every time she asked it, in order to make the audience wonder
about his response and the reaction he might have. Some people thought he was
going to kiss her, whereas others thought he was going to leave. So we can see
how seconds of silence can affect the audience s vision about what s going to
happen next, and leave them unaware of how they re supposed to feel. Then, the
filmmakers used the sound metaphorically when Diamand and Elie kissed and she
started hitting him: the vague background noise was so intense and powerful that
we could actually sense her pain, and the fact that her feelings and actions are not
up to her; it s rather what the absence of her father imposed on her, and what she has
to live with for the rest of her life until she gets the closure she
4. Mad Max Fury Road Analysis
A Pessimistic Take on Society: An Analysis of Mad Max: Fury Road
Action packed and highly rated, Mad Max: Fury Road is a critically acclaimed
film about a journey of survival through a post apocalyptic wasteland. There is no
doubt that post apocalyptic films are becoming increasingly popular among
audiences as seen with movies such as the Hunger Games. However, Leggatt
(2012) describes another variation in the post apocalyptic genre, one that has been
dubbed post 9/11 after a string of patterns prevalent in some post apocalyptic films.
Leggatt s definition of post 9/11 apocalyptic films are ones that have a pessimistic
tone towards the future of a society. As the world evolves and progresses, many new
issues overlap and outgrow previous issues that have plagued the world before though
this transgression, the film industry follows suit in order to invent stories and media
that is thought provoking and relevant to changing society. Mad Max: Fury Road
(2015) is a film that encapsulates many elements of Leggatt s post 9/11 apocalypse
film genre through the apocalyptic setting, derailment of redemption, and societal
obsession with apocalypse over utopia.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) takes place in a post apocalyptic wasteland as a result
of multiple man made events described in the opening scenes as narrated by the
main character, Max. By including a myriad of factors that caused the apocalypse
including human greed over oil, the fight for water availability and

This makes it a center of businesses, meetings, and conventions. Moreover, the city
is very compact and the transportation makes it very easy to travel around. Because
of its diverse environment, Geneva is the most ideal place to open an international
food restaurant such as Irish restaurant. Moreover, it is easier to operate an Irish
restaurant in Geneva than other cities in Switzerland. Employees in the city are
also used to working with people from distinct backgrounds. Another benefit is that
people in Geneva tend to equally accept other national customs as the local s. It
will be less difficult to promote international food in such city than those which are
hardly exposed to multi cultures. In fact, more than 1,200 cuisines are from all

2009). Not only does Geneva have high potential demand due to its high traffic, but
also it consists of many groups of people whom the Restaurant can penetrate. The
demand of the Restaurant can be categorized into two groups, the locals and the
tourists. To clarify each group, the locals are people who reside in Switzerland and
the tourists are those who travel from other countries. Among the locals are many
Irish people. Number of Irish associations, for instance the Geneva Irish Association

6. Argumentative Essay On Prejudice And Prejudice
Social conformity can be toxic, it often leads to the epidemic that is prejudice. To
give a better idea of what prejudice means, Judice translates to judge in Latin,
therefore the term prejudice literally translates into pre judgment . There are
innumerable forms of negative preconceived notions that exist in our world today, the
biggest one being racism, which often is a stem of having anti immigration views.
Immigration prejudiceis not unknown to any person who lives in America and has
eyes and ears to know it exists, but it s important to know that prejudice is not
innate, it is learned, and as long as we allow our society to practice xenophobia
among present and future generations we will never be free of it. According to the...

Prejudice doesn t discriminate, it lives in all runs of people: Whites, African
Americans, Asians, Hispanics, Republicans, Democrats, men, women, young, old you
name it. In a perfect world this level of hatred wouldn t be the norm, but it is. It is so
widespread that there s tangible evidence that shows even Hispanics (immigrant or
not) have negative affiliations with immigrants. How can this be when Hispanics take
the cake for making up the largest portion of new comers. Interestingly enough,
research done by the Pew Research Center concludes that the more Hispanics have
become accustomed to nativism in American culture, the more likely they are to feel
negatively toward the matter. This sense of superiority is quite frankly sickening, to
know that even counterparts of immigrants could fall suspect of discrimination goes
to show its daunting power. What s more, the false notion that immigrants are purely
responsible for the uprooting of crime, scarce resources, drugs, disease, and more
have been fed to natives by the media and those in powerful positions to continue
defacing the image of immigration as there s no solid evidence to justify being anti
foreign. As the descendant of an immigrant father and his father before him, I ve
witnessed firsthand the means and consequences of trying to enter this country and
become a citizen. The
7. Steven Dubner s Super Freakonomics
Freakonomics, in essence, is a book of completely unrelated topics relating to an
underlying theme. Topics in the book SuperFreakonomics include prostitution,
terrorists, doctors with poor hygiene and altruism in monkeys. The theme is the
indication that everyone works for a reward. Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner
are the authors of this novel. Levitt is a professor of economics at the University of
Chicago. Dubner is a former writer at the New York Times. Their goal is to
explain the fact that all of the problems in the world can be solved with economic
concepts. They do so by presenting a series of problems and attempting to find a
root cause. By doing so they attempt to present to the readers a way to look at the
world through an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This manner is that there is in each chapter an interesting story, followed by an
analysis of the problem in said story, before concluding with an solution or discovery
about the underlying aspects of the problems. Throughout this there are dozens of
seemingly unconnected anecdotes that manage to tie themselves into the greater
problem. For example, the first chapter, titled how is a street prostitute like a
department store santa? starts off with an interview with a prostitute. Despite saying
that she dislikes prostitution, she admits she would do a lot more if it payed twice
as much. The chapter follows this up with a history of prostitution in Chicago. It
discusses how women were likely to become prostitutes because it payed so much
more. Then the chapter analyzes why it payed so much more by going into the
supply and demand of the field. Sex was in high demand. Prostitutes were in low
supply. Therefore it was a high paying job. Overtime, as the stigma increased and
casual sex became the social norm, demand lowered, and now the modern prostitute
makes a fraction of what prostitutes made a hundred years ago. After much more
discussion on the topic, the book points towards a modern study about prostitution
that shows that even non prostitutes take up prostitution during certain times of the
year (the fourth of july namely). Then it finishes by tieing back to the original
question of the chapter, stating They both take advantage of short term job
opportunities brought about by holiday spikes in demand (Levitt, 43). Thus the
structure of the book is
8. Australia Year Award
The Australian of the Year Award is still a relevant representation of the 21st century
Australian. Each year our nation celebrates the achievement and contribution of
eminent Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards by profiling leading
citizens who are role models for us all. They inspire us through their achievements
and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a better Australia. In this
essay, I argue that the Australian of the Year Award is bound up with our sense of
nationhood and presents the best of Australian qualities, there is no such thing as a
real Australian and the Australian image is still relevant, nobody is marginalised

This is displayed through the selection criteria of the award. For example, to be
chosen the nominee must have a significant contribution to the Australian community
and nation and availability and commitment to promote national pride and active
citizenship through the year of appointment. The selection criteria also ensures that
the person chosen presents the best of Australian qualities, and is representative of
our diverse nation. For example, consideration is given to all genders, ages, locations,
races and occupations.
I believe there is no such person as a real Australian. The 21st century Australian
refers to a very broad range of people. In the past six years, recipients included: an
equality advocate, a family violence campaigner, an AFL player and community
leader, a media icon, an oscar winning actor, a social entrepreneur and a mental
health expert. All people from different backgrounds, of different ages, genders and
races. Even though everyone is unique and there may not seem to be a clear
Australian image anymore, I believe that there is still certain qualities that all of
these people share, such as
9. Overkill Hypothesis Essay
Overkill Hypothesis
In the past the world was different, it had different biology. The Pleistocene geologic
era, lasting from around 1.6 million to 11,000 years back, was extremely different
compared to the present day. It had colder climates, and it was dominated by giant
mammals which are called megafauna. This era marks the first utilization of stone tool
by man. The late Pleistocene has been link with the extinction of large mammals, this
extinction has been identified as a human driven process since Paul Martin saw a
contributing link between the extinction of large mammalian species and the
appearance of humans. However, this does not mean that megafauna was not going to
become extinct without human interference. This essay will provide detailed analysis
and assessment of the Overkill hypothesis, which argues that the megafaunal
extinction in America and Eurasia was caused by humans.

types of incentives, economic, moral, and social, chapter one is the chapter that

financed by the leader named J.T. He was well educated and smart when it came to
his business. Freakonomics mentions the comparison between J.T., his Black
Disciples, and the MacDonald s franchise! The book states, In other words, a crack
gang works pretty much like the standard capitalist enterprise: you have to be near
the top of the pyramid to make a big wage (Levitt Dubner 100). J.T, being the head
leader of the gang, obviously was the one taking home the big bucks, while the
Black Disciples also took home well more than half the money (Levitt Dubner

employees at MacDonald s. In the American business world, employees commonly
begin their career at the bottom of the hierarchy pyramid: waitresses, dishwashers,
janitors, etc. They have hopes for reaching the top of the pyramid as managers or
maybe even CEO s. Just like in the business world, drug dealers begin at the
bottom and pray to succeed all the way to the top, where they are paid double,
triple, or even quadruple what they made before! Levitt Dubner use this great
example of the hierarchy ladder, Well, for the same reason that a pretty Wisconsin

During the renaissance there were quite a few significant people. One of those
people was Michelangelo. He was a man of many skills and some of them include
sculpting, painting, poetry, and even architecture. You ve most likely heard of, or
even seen some of his work, since it is widely acknowledged today. Michelangelowas
one of the most significant artists during the renaissance and here s why.
Michelangelo was a very gifted sculptor. Some of his most recognizable sculptures
would be the statue of Moses, the statue of David, and the statue Pieta. Many people
consider him one of the greatest sculptors ever. Let s start with the statue of Moses. It
is located in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli, Rome. The statue was built after

He was able to chisel and paint very fine details such as veins, wrinkles, muscles,

man he studied anatomy and dissected human corpses, which allowed him to gain a
better understanding of the human body. Michelangelo also attended the Humanist
academy where he studied some important philosophers and writers who influenced
his art. Some of them include: Marsilio Ficino, Pico della Mirandola, and Poliziano.
Around the age of 16, he was also able to work with a sculptor named Bertoldo di

Greek and Roman art. He brought back certain details in Greek and Roman art which
also influenced other artists to paint art that wasn t Christian themed. He was a

the ancient: Iago s machinations yield him both sport and profit (1.3.387); that is,
he enjoys his evildoing, although he is also driven by a motive. This Vice like

to be, and he is a man because he melds the world in a form of good and good only.
For if Superman wanted to, he could rule the world and no one would be able to
stop him. Superman is, literally, a god among men. He has the power to sink entire
continents and kill millions of people with ease, but he chooses to protect everyone,
good or bad, no matter how insignificant and tiny the life is for nothing in return.
Superman is a hero because he s there for everyone, never compromising his ideals
and taking the high road to support those in need. This is despite the fact that he
could basically be a god lording over others without much trouble, but instead
chooses to serve and inspire. That is why he is a hero. Superman is the ultimate

from fear of the government. During an interview with Jeon Geum ju by Anna

When describing his education, he said that 30 percent of their studies was about the

for their wrongful actions, they most likely will not commit that act as a common
saying amongst the people was there is an ear, even on the wall. Because of this
fear and the brainwashing at a young age, it is common sense for North Koreans to
have genuine faith in the great leader. Some people might say that it s not fear or
brainwashing rather that the brainwashing is just North Korea s unique way of
teaching. Brainwashing no matter the country should not occur. Yes, they should
learn about their leader, but it should not be forced upon them and take up almost
the majority of what they learn let alone at such a young age. One might say it s fear

60,000 soldiers were sacrificed and fifty percent of their territory had been occupied
by Chiang s forces. For this reason, the Chinese Communist Party must flee from this
massacre and preserve their remaining military strength. As a result, their retreat
became the world renowned Long March, which began on October 14, 1934. At first,
the Chinese Communist Party adopted the advice from a Russian agent rather than
Mao s suggestions . Due to their poor planing the Communist Party suffered another
heavy casualties. Under this condition, the Chinese Communist Party appointed Mao

Red Army to maneuver stealthy. As the Red army moved away from Xiang, it used
twisting movement patterns that made predicting its direction very difficult. Mao
also split up the Red Army into smaller units. In theory this made theme more open

19. Problem Solution Is A Method For Analyzing And Writing
In composition, problem solution is a method for analyzing and writing about a
topic by identifying a problem and proposing possible solutions. The problem can
affect a large group of people in a small way, or the problem can affect a small group
of people in a large way. In a problem solution paper, the solutions should be new to
the reader. To write my researchproblem solution essayI followed three steps:
researching, writing, and documenting. To start my research process I determined the
problem, and then began researching for solutions. The problem I chose was
registration at Normandale, and the common issue of classes filling up too fast. Once
I had my problem, I started researching for background information on registration,

For my introduction, I started by writing a thesis statement. My thesis statement
stated the problem of class registration at Normandale, and then introduced the four
possible solutions; this gave the reader a brief summary of what to expect. To
organize my body paragraphs, I wrote out my first topic sentence to define the
problem, and then followed with four topic sentences for my four solutions. Finally, I
rewrote my thesis so I could restate it in my conclusion. After organizing the
introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, I was ready to write my first draft.
The purpose of my introduction was to interest the reader, and give them a brief
background on the essay. The introductory paragraphs consisted of a hook,
background information on the problem and why it is occurring, and then my thesis
statement. My essay started with a direct quote I discovered when researching. I
then explained the importance of the quote, and followed with my thesis. Also, I
used correct MLA format when citing the direct quote in my paper. It s important to
cite all sources correctly otherwise it will be penalized as plagiarism. Once my
introduction was complete, I began writing the body paragraphs.
The main purpose of my body paragraphs were to explain and support my thesis. For
my body paragraph on the problem, I made sure to explain the problem of
registration, give an example, and then state who the problem affected. I then started

20. The Legacy Of The Great Depression
The election of 1932 focused primarily on the Great Depression, the recent
economic crisis that had swallowed the nation. At this time, thirteen million
people were unemployed and 774 banks were shutting down annually.
Economically unstable, Americans turned to Franklin Delano Roosevelt who
claimed, better days were ahead with his New Deal reformation. He promised
economic recovery, job creation, investment in public works, and civic uplift
(Harvey 88). Immediately upon entering the white house, he began his 3 R
process: relief, recovery, and reform (Bateman and Taylor 73). While this
revolution would bring reform to U.S banking systems and help improve
unemployment, the restoring of economic stability would go unmet; therefore, we
must question the true effectiveness of this reformation. Roosevelt is considered to
be one of the nation s greatest and most influential presidents, yet he did not end
the great depression as he was expected to. Was FDR as potent as we credit him to
be? By exploring society before the depression, comparing presidents prior to FDR,
as well as dissecting the success and failures of his New Deal reconstruction, we can
analyze and conclude FDR s true role in healing the nation. In order to understand
FDR s reformation, it is important to understand the society in which government
was fighting to restore. Following World War 1, America s economy boomed after
experiencing a slight recession during the early 1920 s. Soldiers had recently returned

Summary
The story opens on a chilly December morning. An elderly Africanв€’American
woman named Phoenix Jackson is making her way, slowly but surely, through the
woods, tapping an umbrella on the ground in front of her as she walks. Her shoes
are untied. While she taps along, she talks to the animals in the woods, telling
them to keep out of her way. As the path goes up a hill, she complains about how
difficult walking becomes. It becomes evident that she has made this journey
many times before; she is familiar with all the twists and turns in the trail. She
talks aimlessly to herself. Her eyesight is poor, and she catches her skirt in the
thorns on a bush. After walking across a log to traverse a stream, she rests. She
imagines a boy bringing her a slice of cake but opens her eyes to find her hand in
the air, grasping nothing. The terrain becomes more difficult, and at a certain point
she thinks she sees a ghost, but it is only a scarecrow. Blaming the confusion on
her age and the fact that her senses is gone, she moves on. She meets a black dog
with a lolling tongue. She hits the dog lightly with her cane, and the effort knocks
her off balance and she falls into a ditch. The dog s owner, a white hunter, happens
by and helps her out of the ditch. When he hears that she is attempting to make it into
town, he says it is too far and tells her to go home. But Phoenix is determined, and

World War II took away many things from people; loved ones, homes, personal
possessions, from Anne Frank the war took away her childhood. When she was still
a young girl she had to move to a completely different country. Annelies Marie Frank
had been born in 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany into a jewish family. ( Anne Frank

Amsterdam leaving their home behind. Despite this Anne was able to find joy in
simple things such as history, movie stars, even cats and dogs. (Van der Rol

a writer. When Anne moved to Amsterdam she hoped to find a better life away
from Hitler. Which she did for seven years, until the Nazis took over the
Netherlands and started enforcing rules limiting the jews. In 1941 Anne and her
older sister switched schools because they were no longer allowed at non jewish

stores, and they were given a strict curfew. (Van der Rol/ Verhoeven page 37)

2.a. United Nations Millennium Development Goals Project World leaders came
together in 2000 and made a commitment to assessable progress (The Millennium
Development Goals report 2008, p.3). They committed to reduce poverty in under
developed counties by 2015 (The Millennium Development Goals report 2008,
p.3).The Millennium Declaration was a statement of commitment in humanity
(United Nation 2010). These are eight goals, which are measurable and have a
timetable. The goals address the reduction of poverty, education, gender equality,
reduction of child mortality, maternal health, combat HIV AIDS and other diseases,
sustainability of the environment, and development of a global partnership (United
Nation 2010). Along with the eight goals, 20 specific targets are set out for
achieving the MDGs (The Millennium Development Goals report 2008, p.4).
Monitoring is based on 60 indicators formulated to measure the 20 targets (The

go for a higher price. I ordered a medium rare ten ounce prime chateau cut. I enjoyed

25. Irregular Warfare Mindset Needed for Our Modern World
Essay
Since World War II, there have been over 80 irregular conflicts, including civil and
guerrilla wars, rebellions or insurgencies. The United States has been involved in
several of these conflicts, some of which are still ongoing, such as the conflict in
Somalia. The conflict in Somalia, widely seen as unsuccessful, saw a significant
change from the conventional mindset to one of irregular warfare. While threats from
conventional forces still exist in today s environment, irregular warfare has become a
mainstay across the globe.
The United States needs to adopt and maintain an irregular warfare mindset, above
that of conventional, to ensure adaptable economic, political and military capabilities
in an ever evolving global environment. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Backed by the international community, including the UN, the U.S. attempted to
provide basic services to the people of war torn Somalia. Although these stability
operations ultimately failed, the U.S. has been able to capitalize on the lessons
learned from Somalia. Somalia greatly changed the way the U.S. conducted irregular
warfare activities, such as stability operations and two other significant ones.
Counterinsurgency (COIN) and Counterterrorism (CT) operations have been used
extensively in Somalia since 1992, especially since the failed use of stability
operations. While neither of these operations has had success in creating a stable
Somalia, both have been instrumental in keeping Islamic militants in check,
particularly those with ties to al Qaeda (i.e. al Shabaab). Fighting terrorist
organizations such as al Shabaab and al Qaeda have been dominated by irregular
warfare, which has spawned numerous military and academic studies regarding
irregular warfare. In cases such as Somalia, Afghanistan, and other global hotbeds for
terrorism, the U.S. has refined the way irregular warfare is conducted.
The three irregular warfare activities listed above (stability operations,
counterinsurgency, and counterterrorism) have led front pages since Somalia, Iraq
and Afghanistan. COIN, in particular, defines the way the U.S. approaches irregular
warfare, but the U.S. is ultimately
26. Information Safety and the National Security Agency
Security information In the last 20 years, we had a boom in communication. The
industry of telecommunication and the velocity of internet has increased, in a way
that never happened. In the past the evolution of communication increased each
decade, today increase each second. In the past the only way for communication was
the voice, and sometimes, for example, they used animals to send a message, like a
bird, but it still take a long time to send a message. However each century brings
another ways to made a communication. The interception of message, is not a new, in
the past the people intercepted the messenger from another country to get
information. The communications increased so much, on the other hand, the ways to
intercept the message increased to. Nowadays, we living a age of information,
everything happens faster than other times. Consequently the interception of
information, in other words, the cases of espionage, become one of the biggest
worries for the nations around the world. Recently, Edward Snowden, an ex agent of
NSA (National SecurityAgency) from USA, leaks a largest number of documents
containing information about various countries. This leak sparked the warning
signal of the countries (Shoichet, 2013). The predecessor of NSA, was created in
April 28, 1917, when a code and cipher decryption unit was established as the Cable
and Telegraph Section, in the Military Information Section; I m August 26, 1918,

27. Sigmund Freud s Civilization And Its Discontents
Sigmund Freud, in his book Civilization and Its Discontents, contests that humans are
subject to savage, animalistic instincts. He opposes the Marxist value that humans are
superior to their animal counterparts, rather, he holds, humans are quite like wolves
to each other. With this claim, he explores how internal compositions work in the
grand scheme, to create a working mechanism of society that tames and creates
internal negotiations of behaviour and instinct. (also include what comes of the last
question) Freud, a psychologist, had views that were at odds with Marxist values,
derived from a philosopher and economist. Their views on what drives human nature
are fundamentally different. Freud adhered to the belief that humans are enslaved by
their instinctive forces. This is to say that humans are driven to seek out pleasure.
Marx, on the other hand, believed that humans are motivated by their place in society
through labour. His core value was the division of labor, and how it structures society.
Freud understood man in a Darwinian sense, that man comes from natural selection,
in the sense that Darwin insisted on its [homo sapiens] kinship with lesser cousins
and observed that the stamp of [its] lowly origin was quite ineffaceable (12). This
contrasts with the Marxist assumption that humans are different from animals, the
belief in human exceptionalism. Under this presumption, Marx finds that abuse and
violence occurs in consequence to disproportionate distributions
28. Joint Force
The United States, throughout the course of its history, has attempted to steady the
dynamic global climate in eras of strategic change. Examples of this abound: post
World War I, the post Vietnam Cold War, and even the current post long war
environment. However, it is arguable that no era of strategic change was more critical
to the development of contemporary international security than the interwar period
between World War II s end and the rapid communist advance across the 38th parallel
that initiated the Korean War. Yet similarities exist with our current age, and one
would be remiss to discount the invaluable experiences garnered during such a
transformative period in global history. Comparatively, and based on current concepts

This propagation greatly enhances the Joint Force s warfighting capability by
enhancing the likelihood that a coalition partner will have trained with a United States
amphibious force or at a minimum is familiar with joint amphibious doctrine. The
Joint Force correspondingly has expanded its amphibious horizons beyond the
simple and established ARG/MEU. Rehearsals for forcible entry operations
currently exist within all three Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEF) at the Marine
Expeditionary Brigade (MEB) level. These exercises, such as DAWN BLITZ,
BOLD ALLIGATOR, and SSANG YONG, effectively always executed in multi
lateral fashion, increase the amphibious capability sets of the blue / green team
while also redoubling a spirit of interoperability between the United States and its
partner nation s forces. The magnitude of such exercises is, of course, conspicuous
since history has displayed that the United States will likely not execute a forcible

29. Comparison Of Good And Did God Create Evil
Did God create good and did God create evil are two questions that are essential to
explore in order to fully comprehend the Christian faith. It is evident from the
account of creation in Genesis that what God creates is inherently good (Genesis 1).
Moreover, God himself is good and without sin (Habakkuk 1:13). We know that God
is good and his creation is good so now the question of evilremains. Moreover, how
do we reconcile the statement God created everything through him, and nothing was
created except through him (John 1:3, NLT) with what we know about God s
character? In order to respond to this scripture with an accusation against God for
creating everything including evil we would have to consider evil an entity that is able

1.Air Force has and will continue to face a constrained fiscal environment. Despite
this ongoing challenge, the expectations placed on Air Force as an organisation will
not lessen. Accommodating increasing fiscal pressures involves significant change;
however, failure to adapt to this change will impede the ability of Air Force to deliver
capability. A crucial element in enabling Air Force to accomplish its mission without
compromising its people is that of its leaders and their ability to manage both the
uncertainty of change and the expectations of both their superiors and subordinates.
2.This essay will briefly discuss the leadership role of squadron leaders in today s Air

this essay will consider the overarching issue of managing people through times of
change. In discussing these issues the role squadron leaders in the Air Force have in
there successful execution or implementation into the workplace will also be

The Major Event, IPhone Boom! And the Launch of Android In 2007, the remote
business took a dramatic turn. While aficionados and non endeavor clients had
discovered different uses for their cell phones than email and work, the primary
capacity of such gadgets was keeping representatives inside of scope and joined far
from the work area. Cell phones were principally utilized for correspondence and
light Web searching on the train. That was all set to change when Apple declared
the iPhone in January 2007 and propelled it months after the fact in June. Apple s
concept of the cell phone joined intense sight and sound capacities with the same
email and Web searching components as all different cell phones already had. It
had a huge shading showcase with a capacitive digitizer, and its client interface was
at long last finger friendly. Furthermore, dissimilar to telephones before it, the
iPhone had one and only button all over the Home button and three around its
edges, two for volume up/down and one for force/standby. Apple s versatile
working framework, iOS, was still exceptionally fundamental at the time, however it
was the first look into the new, cutting edge portable cell phone working frameworks
we know and love to. This phone release started a transformation of the perception of
cellular and mobile communication, which is maybe best outlined by a quote
ascribed to Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., that the phone was not just a
communication tool but a way of

34. Examples Of Refusal In Antigone
A refusal is an action with the purpose to deny a request. A denied request usually
causes a negative reaction from the requester. A refusal must be calculated and well
planned because of this possible outcome. Loudly refusing a king s orders can have
the refuser hanged, while secretly disobeying the king s orders can leave the refuser
unharmed. Throughout several stories and films, authors have clearly portrayed the
countless ways that refusals can be done and the consequences that can be faced. A
successful refusal is strategized according to the situation, setting, and audience.
The play Antigone clearly shows how a bold and loud refusal ends badly. Antigone
believed that her brother deserved a proper burial, so she went against the king s
orders and buried him. Even though she was correct, this uncivil act of refusal led
Antigone to be put in prison. Even when Antigone was caught, she remained
rebellious against the king. Antigone stated, I didn t suppose your decree had ... Show

When someone refuses to follow what a person of higher power requests, the
refuser faces the possibility of consequences that cannot be evaded. For example, a
knight that refuses to follow the orders of royalty may face prison time, or even
death. A loud and bold refusal by a king will usually be accepted because of the
respect that the king has from society. Meanwhile, a stealthy and secret refusal
should typically come from a person of lower power in order to avoid
consequences. If a target is misguided due to deception, the refuser will never get
caught, and could also have the opportunity of to benefit from the requester. For
example, if a poor woman successfully seduces a rich man that she hates, she will
most likely end up with 50% of the rich man s total assets due to divorce. The poor
woman not only refused to be loyal, but tricked the rich man out of half of his

The diagnosis of students of autism brings long term effects that can increase the
functionality of the child s life. As we know, early diagnosis is key producing long
term effects whenever families and parents are diligent in getting their children help.
Throughout the diagnosis process, it is imperative to take every element into account.
Considerations such as race, culture, and socioeconomic status may affect the validity
and reliability of the test. Although the test can be administered exactly as it should
be, there are many different characteristics of the child in their upbringing that can
affect the outcome of the results.
Whether a diagnosis of autism, or diagnosis of another disability is to be made,
interventions can be developed to add the child s tool belt on their waist of life.
Research shows that the early intervention can highly impact the likelihood of
success (Krader, 2014). The American Academy of pediatric tells us that the diagnosis
procedure should start in children between 18 and 24 months. With the essential
screening process, recommendations can be used to begin intervention and start the
help that the child needs. As we have seen through research, not all children receive
testing that proves equality (Krader, 2014).
Beginning diagnosis and testing process can be very intimidating to the parents,
especially if this is their first

For this reason, new, or marginal, costs are used in its calculation. WACC is
calculated by multiplying the cost of each capital component by its proportional
weight and then summing then together. The capital components included in this
calculation are a firms after tax costs of debt, preferred stock, and common stock.
DebtThe first component of a firms WACC is its cost of debt. This is the effective
rate that a company pays on its current debt. Because interest expenses on debt are
deductible, the after tax cost is used in its calculation. Cost of debt is calculated by
multiplying the before tax rate by one minus the marginal tax rate. As given in the
Silicon Valley case assignment handout, SIVMED s long term debt consists of
9.5% coupon, semiannual payment bonds with 15 years to maturity. The bonds last
traded at a price of $891.00 per $1,000 par value bond. Given this data, SIVMED s
cost of debt is calculated at 6.6% .
It is often questionable as to whether flotation costs are included in the calculation of
a firms cost of debt. Flotation costs are the costs associated with the issuance of new
securities. These costs should be included in this calculation. For debt, however, this
value is usually ignored because it is very small and does not have a significant
affect on the outcome of the calculation. Also, when

Henry Melville s Benito Cereno starts by introducing Amasa Delano, the captain of
the ship Bachelor s Delight, who is stopping at a deserted island for temporary

is headed toward the island. Delano sees that the ship s called San Dominick, and
under the name it says Seguid vuestro jefe , which means follow your leader.
Amasa Delano is enticed to go to the ship to see what s happening; he meets Benito

that Cereno and his men had left Buenos Ayres to got to Lima almost six weeks ago,

This can be partly attributed to the story being told in the perspective of Delano,

when when Delano is looking at the suspicious behavior happening on the ship,

39. The Core Concepts Of God
The quote from Benner about finding God in our authentic self, appeals to me. My
concept of God has shifted over the years, and as I consider the purest form of God
to be love, I agree with the quote. In this essay I will discuss how I consider two of
the core concepts of God and relate them to my development. I will show, using
journal entries, how I have developed over the last two years at Vision College, and
how this self development has been a surprising and painful journey. I will show my
plans for ongoing development, travelling from self discovery to self acceptance to
self love.
The first concept to discuss is forgiveness, a paramount doctrine of Christianity and
mentioned frequently in the Bible. The Biblical principle is that God forgave our
wrongs and so we are to follow the example and forgive each other. Forgiveness of
sin healed a man of paralysis. Matthew 9v2 (NIV Bible) tells us a moving story of
how unforgiveness can paralyse a person and render them unable to move in a certain
way (Pritchard, 2005). Personally, I believe forgiveness entwines with understanding.
Once I understood my Mother s position, forgiveness of her faults inevitably followed
(Journal Entry 1).
In addition, forgiveness as a central theme includes the concept of self forgiveness.
There is the view that we must forgive ourselves, that when we relinquish the view
of ourselves of having to be perfect, we allow others the permission to fail
(Chittister, 2010). Love keeps no
40. Compare And Contrast Low Carb Diet Vs. Low Fat Diets
Compare and Contrast : Low Carb Diets vs. Low Fat Diets Nowadays health and
weight loss programs has become integrated in many Americans everyday lives.
Two popular ways to lose weight are through, low carb diets like the Atkins diet,
and low fat diets. They both are in sheer contrast when talking about the type of
foods linked to the diet, the low carb diet limits a person to only consuming foods
that are high in carbs, such as rice, bread, and pasta, on the contrary, the low fat diet
only limits a person to consuming foods that are in high in fat like milk, beans, and
meats. Although the two diets sound very different, they share correlations with
each other. The low carb diet and the low fat diet both claim they re a great tool for
weight loss. Even though their goal is to achieve weight loss and good health they
are still very different.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Low fat dieters need some fats in their diet to stay healthy. In an online article, it
was stated that Fats supply energy and essential fatty acids and promote absorption
of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K . In contrast with the good fat , there is also
the opposite end of the spectrum which is the bad fat , and has been linked to high
cholesterol and heart disease. It is mostly found in milk and other milk based
products. Therefore, the low fat diet encourages the reduction of saturated fat sense it
is the main cause of high cholesterol
41. Corruption In The Poisonwood Bible
Throughout Barbara Kingsolver s novel The Poisonwood Bible, the downfall of
the Price family is enclosed through the words of each family member. One may
blame Nathan Price, the father of the Price family, for the downfall of his family.
Therefore, his preaching is poisonous to his loved ones. During their time in the
Congo, the women of the Price family constantly wish to return back home, but it is
Nathan who forces their stay. Nathan poisons his family through his abusive
behavior towards his family, and ultimately kills his daughter, Ruth May. Aside from
poisoning his own family, Nathan Price also poisons the African people. Towards the
end of the novel, Adah Price goes into detail about the mistakes that have taken place
in the copies of the Bible. For... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Orleanna Price, the reader learns that upon marriage, Nathan was drafted
for the war. While on the Philippine shore, his company fought their way into
Luzon. After being struck in the head with a shell fragment, Nathan was spotted
on the beach and picked up by a PT boat. It wasn t until a few days later that Nathan
learned that his fellow soldiers did not make it out alive. Orleanna states, It would
permanently curl one soldier s heart like a piece of shoe leather (196). Nathan s
guilt for surviving the war makes him fearless when placed in dangerous
situations, such as life in the Congo. Not only does Nathan Price carry the burden
of guilt throughout the novel, but Orleanna does as well. Upon the death of Ruth
May, Orleanna carries the guilt of not guiding her daughters out of the Congo to
safety. Orleanna states, The substance of grief if not imaginary. It s as real as rope
or the absence of air, and like both those things it can kill. My body understood
there was no safe place for me to be (381). Through these words, Orleanna expresses
to the reader that guilt can truly never be escaped. Its burden will follow you
wherever you
42. Staphylococcus aureas versus Methicillin Resistant...
From Staphylococcus aureus to MRSA
Abstract
I investigated the difference between Staphylococcus aureas and its super bacteria
form of Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureas. I used books, websites, and
scholarly projects to understand the topic at a molecular level. After researching
penicillin, Staphylococcus aureas, and Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureas, I
found that both the drug and the bacteria use enzymes as their defense and attack
mechanism. Penicillin uses a Гџ lactam ring as a substrate to clog the active site of
transpeptidase, and in defense, the bacteria uses Гџ lactamase to break down the Гџ
lactam ring. I hope to continue research on super bacteria to determine whether or not

B lactam Antibiotics and Bacteria
To understand how MRSA works against antibiotics, we must first look at the cell
wall and how antibiotics work. The cell wall is designed to maintain the cell s
shape and to keep the inner workings of the bacteria safe. Without a cell wall, the
bacteria could not survive. The wall of a bacterial cell can fit into two major
categories: gram positive and gram negative. Staphylococcus aureas is a common
example of a gram positive bacteria. Gram positive bacteria is made up of polymer
layers of peptidoglycan connected by amino acid bridges. Peptidoglycan is a
polymer made of Nacetylglucosamine and N acetyl muraminic acid, or for the
purpose of convenience,
NAG and NAMA. [6] These layers of polymers are cross linked with amino acids
as shown in the diagram below. The polymers are connected and layered by an
enzyme known as transpeptidase. The enzyme is responsible for catalyzing the
reaction that cross links the cell wall to make it strong.[1] Making the cell wall is
easily one of the most basic and essential processes that takes place.
[6]
Penicillin and Methicillin, two antibiotics used to treat Staphylococcus aureas, are
known as Гџ lactam antibiotics. They prevent the bacteria from forming a cell
wall.[1] The
NAM of the peptidoglycan leaves residue of D alanyl D alanine which bind to the
transpeptidase in order to cross link the chain. Гџ lactam antibiotics
43. America Without The Constitution Essay
Have You Ever Thought About the United States Without a Constitution?
How would America be without the constitution? Without the constitution, America
would have a tyranny. What is tyranny? Tyranny is when one supreme ruler who
takes all the power for themselves. Philadelphia 1787 is the city and the year the
Constitution was written in. The weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation were the
reason why the Constitution of the United states of America written. The Constitution
of the United States of America would be stronger than the Articles of
Confederation, because the Articles of Confederation had no way to tax the people
and it did not have a chief executive. James Madison didn t prefer the idea that the

Federalism is the division of power given to the Central government and the States.
James Madison, Federalist paper #51, 1788, stated that In the compound republic
of America, the powers surrendered by the people is first divided between two
distinct governments, and the portion allotted to each subdivided among distinct
and separated departments. Hence a double security arises to the rights of the
people. The different governments will each control each other, while each will
be controlled by itself. It was Madison s idea of division of power between central
and state governments, this is known as Federalism. The powers given to the
central government s powers are to regulate trade, conduct foreign relations,
provide and army and navy, declare war, print and coin money, set up post offices,
and make immigration laws. The powers given to the states are to set up local
governments, hold elections, establish schools, pass marriage and divorce laws, and
regulate in state businesses, but they both share the power to give tax, borrow
money, set up court, make laws, and to enforce the laws. Federalism helped guard
against tyranny by dividing the powers of government. Therefore, these examples
show that Federalism guards against tyranny in America due to the division of
powers from the central government and the states. Separation of power also helped
to prevent
44. Allograft Sterilization Essay
Response/Recommendation:
A combined method of allograft sterilization appears to be the best method to
reduce the possibility of viral, bacterial and fungal infection as well as preserve the
bio mechanical properties of the graft. Sterilization methods should involve a low
dose of gamma radiation ( 25 KGy), chemical sterilization and antibiotic soaking. The
use of radio protective solutions (i.e. propylene glycol, dimethyl sulfoxide, mannitol
and trehalose) can be effective in reducing the risk of free radical attack to the
collagen from the gamma radiation. Electron based radiation in combination with
tissue protective measure (i.e. low temperature, carbon dioxide) can be an alternative
method of sterilization, but further studies are required to validate this procedure.
Strength of Recommendation: Moderate
Rationale:
Septic arthritis after ACL reconstruction is a rare event, occurring in 0.14 1.8% of
cases.1 3
Several studies have demonstrated a lower rate of deep infection after ACL

46. British Society During 1951-1975
British society in 1975 was different in every way to the one seen in 1951 Discuss.
The British society in 1975 was certainly different from its own self in 1951. But, as
radically the society changed, we cannot say that it was a total departure from the
preceding conformist state. The early 1970s British society is more or less a more
mature version of the gradually growing incoherent one that came into existence in
the 1950s. Britain in 1951, though conservative, did acknowledge a new modern
world of changes, social and technological progression rather than standing statically.
To see the differences created by social transformation, we need to look at the aspect
of continuity and changes that distinguishes the two.

This and establishment of new towns distributed the population to other areas outside
of the already crowded cities such as London.
Increasing car ownership and infrastructure construction of new highway make the
country more geographically mobile. This pushes the housing development to
outside towns and cities. Established traditional communities were broken up as
the population spread to other areas. Car travel also changed ideas of holidays and
leisure. The surging demand for cars cut out the demand for rail travel. In response
to the Beeching Report of 1963, hundreds of unprofitable railways were closed,
leaving a lot of rural areas in isolation.
The society of early 1970s inherited a changing class attitude from the 1950s.
British society in 1951 was conformist , class driven and favouring of
establishments. There was breakdown of these principles in the following years but
that does not mean that Britain has totally changed from being a class divided
nation. Suggest by R.A. Butler that the modern Conservatism of Britain was more of
have and have more than a case of have and have not .
These social breakdowns should be viewed as results of economic conditions in the
period, political shifts, the development of new standard of popular media and
cultural changes. The growing affluence of the 1950s and 1960s set ground for social
mobility. The old school class division was blurred out with the increasing
availability of
47. Multiple Points Of View In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the epistolary form of the novel allows the reader
to view the story from three distinct points of view. The changing points of view
allow the reader to see all perspectives of the events that occur in the novel, which
presents an advantage to the reader. Since the points of view of Robert Walton, Victor
Frankenstein, and the creature all coincide and come full circle through the
exposition and resolution, the point of view becomes extremely important. This
particular tenet of the Formalist lens allows the reader to disregard the circumstances
of the book and focus solely on the words on the pages. That is the foundation of the
Formalist literary criticism. A group of literary scholars and linguists, who wanted...

For example, when the reader first reads about the death of William Frankenstein,
they assume that the monster has committed an awful crime. However, when the
monster tells the story from his point of view, the reader sees that the monster was
seeking Victor s attention more than being a cruel being. The multiple points of view
additionally allows the reader to see the emotions of three different main characters in
the novel. From Robert Walton s point of view, the reader sees the thirst for
knowledge outweighs everything, including the lives of his men. However, the point
of view return in the conclusion exposes the reader to the change that has occurred
in Walton. He now sees that life is too important to spend searching for something
that he may never find. Victor s point of view, exposes the reader to many emotions
he feels after the creation of the monster. Once he had created the monster,
Frankenstein stated, I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but
now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and
disgust filled my heart (Shelley 66). This insight to the mind of Victor validates his
actions toward the monster as the novel progresses. Without knowing how
Frankenstein feels about his creation, the reader may interpret the actions of Victor in
a different manner. The monster s point of view allows the
