Road traffic fatalities in Kenya declined 9.66% from 2013 to 2014. From January to June 2015, there were 1,307 fatalities compared to 1,161 in the same period of 2014, a 12.6% increase. Most fatalities involved pedestrians, drivers, passengers, and motorcyclists. The months of December, January, August and weekends saw higher fatality rates. The majority of fatal crashes occurred between 6pm to 10pm, likely due to reduced enforcement and impaired driving at night. Public service vehicles (PSVs) and motorcycles accounted for 60% of fatalities and high-risk roads saw disproportionately higher fatality rates.
