Treatment depends on the severity and includes shoe lifts for mild cases and epiphysiodesis, shortening, or lengthening procedures for larger discrepancies. Limb lengthening uses either external fixators like the Ilizarov or internal devices to gradually lengthen the bone through the process of distraction osteogenesis, where the bone is slowly pulled apart to stimulate new bone growth.
