KFC was founded in 1890 by Harland Sanders in Kentucky. It grew to over 11,000 locations worldwide by 2007. Sanders trademarked his secret chicken recipe of 11 herbs and spices. In 2007, KFC introduced a new recipe with zero trans fat. KFC is now part of Yum! Brands, the world's largest restaurant company, operating over 32,500 locations globally under various brands including KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut.
