2. Joshua 1:1-9 After the death of Moses the servant of
the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to
Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying: 2
"Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go
over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land
which I am giving to them--the children of Israel. 3
Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon
I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the
wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great
river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites,
and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the
sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to
stand before you all the days of your life; as I was
with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you
nor forsake you. >>>

3. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people
you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I
swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong
and very courageous, that you may observe to do
according to all the law which Moses My servant
commanded you; do not turn from it to the right
hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever
you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from
your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and
night, that you may observe to do according to all
that is written in it. For then you will make your way
prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good
courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the
LORD your God is with you wherever you go.“

A. Moses was not allowed to go into Canaan because
of his disobedience to God. - Numbers 20:7-
13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
8 "Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron
gather the congregation together. Speak to the
rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water;
thus you shall bring water for them out of the
rock, and give drink to the congregation and their
animals." 9 So Moses took the rod from before the
LORD as He commanded him. 10 And Moses and
Aaron gathered the assembly together before the
rock; and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels!
Must we bring water for you out of this rock?"
11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock
twice with his rod; and water came out
abundantly, and the congregation and their
animals drank. >>>

12 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron,
"Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in
the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you
shall not bring this assembly into the land which I
have given them." 13 This was the water of
Meribah, because the children of Israel contended
with the LORD, and He was hallowed among them.
B. Joshua becomes the new leader of Israel -
Deuteronomy 34:9 Now Joshua the son of Nun
was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid
his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded
him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
C. Joshua 1:1-9 reveals God’s instructions to Joshua
for his success in taking the land of Canaan.

the death of Moses the
servant of the LORD, it came
to pass that THE LORD
SPOKE TO JOSHUA the son
of Nun, Moses' assistant,
saying:)

7. I. LISTEN TO GOD
A. Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at various times and in
various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by
the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to
us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all
things, through whom also He made the worlds;
B. Hebrews 2:1-3 Therefore we must give the more
earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we
drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through
angels proved steadfast, and every transgression
and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how
shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation,
which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,
and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

8. II. DO AS GOD SAYS vs 2 -
"Moses My servant is dead.
Now therefore, ARISE, GO
OVER THIS JORDAN, you and
all this people, to the land
which I am giving to them--the
children of Israel.)

9. II. DO AS GOD SAYS
A.Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says
to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the
kingdom of heaven, but he who does the
will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will
say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in Your name, cast out
demons in Your name, and done many
wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will
declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart
from Me, you who practice lawlessness!‘

B. Luke 6:46-49 "But why do you call Me 'Lord,
Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?
47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My
sayings and does them, I will show you
whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building
a house, who dug deep and laid the
foundation on the rock. And when the flood
arose, the stream beat vehemently against
that house, and could not shake it, for it was
founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard
and did nothing is like a man who built a
house on the earth without a foundation,
against which the stream beat vehemently;
and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that
house was great.”

God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the
end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is
death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
B. Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been
saved through faith, and that not of
yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of
works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we
are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
for good works, which God prepared
beforehand that we should walk in them.

13. IV. RECOGNIZE THAT GOD IS
WITH YOU (vs 5a - No man
shall be able to stand before
you all the days of your life;
as I was with Moses, so I
WILL BE WITH YOU.)

14. IV. RECOGNIZE THAT GOD IS
WITH YOU
A. Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe
all things that I have commanded you; and lo,
I am with you always, even to the end of the
age." Amen.
B. John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him,
"If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him, and We will
come to him and make Our home with him.

15. V. TRUST GOD (vs 5b - I WILL
NOT LEAVE YOU nor forsake
you.)

covetousness; be content with such things
as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will
never leave you nor forsake you." 6 So we
may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I

then you would go after empty things which
cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.
22 For the LORD will not forsake His people,
for His great name's sake, because it has
pleased the LORD to make you His people.

death nor life, nor angels nor principalities
nor powers, nor things present nor things to
come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other
created thing, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord.
B. Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, my brethren, be
strong in the Lord and in the power of His
might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to stand against the wiles of
the devil.

my meditation all the day.

25. X. DO NOT FEAR (9 - Have I
not commanded you? Be
strong and of good courage;

your God is with you
