The document discusses the biblical principle of tithing based on passages from Malachi 3:6-12. It states that Christians rob God when they do not give their tithes and offerings. Proper tithing involves giving 10% of one's gross income to support the church and its workers. In return, God promises to bless believers financially, protect them from pests and plagues, make their land delightful, and give them a good testimony. The conclusion encourages committing to proper tithing to receive God's promised blessings.

This document discusses priorities and argues that God should be the highest priority according to the Bible. It begins by asking the reader to rank their priorities of family, self, God, and other people. It then defines priority as something that is of first importance or higher value. The document explains that the Bible provides the answer for what should be priority, calling it the "book of priorities." It gives three reasons from the Bible why God should be the priority: 1) God is the beginning of everything, 2) God is sovereign over everything, and 3) God is the end of everything. It concludes by urging the reader to make God their only priority in everything from beginning to end.
"The 20 sessions of this seminar present 26 Biblical guidelines for making good decisions in life. The importance of understanding the distinction between God's sovereign will and God's moral will is presented and the means that God uses to direct our path is explained." The document discusses the patterns of anointing in the Old and New Testaments. It describes how in the Old Testament, priests, kings, prophets and sacred objects were anointed with oil containing specific herbs and spices commanded by God. This separated them for special service. In the New Testament, Jesus and Christians received the Holy Spirit's anointing for power, understanding and witness. The document examines the biblical Hebrew and Greek words used for anointing and their meanings and significance.
1) David served God's purpose in his generation by working humbly as a shepherd, fighting bravely against enemies of Israel like Goliath, waiting patiently for God to fulfill his promise of kingship, and leaving a godly legacy through his writings in the book of Psalms.
2) All Christians should seek to understand God's unique purpose and plan for their lives and serve Him faithfully in both their daily choices and through helping others learn about the gospel.
3) While God forgives sins, disobedience still has consequences; David's life provides an example of both God's forgiveness and the repercussions of wrongdoing.
The document discusses waiting on God's timing. It notes that God has a plan and timing that should not be ignored. It uses the example of David, who was anointed king at a young age but had to wait 14 years and hide from King Saul before becoming king, to illustrate God's plan and timing. The document also includes several Bible verses about waiting on God from Psalms. It states that God requires waiting to receive direction, keep people in step with his timing, test and strengthen faith, and bring people through to his timing. Finally, it recommends waiting patiently, with trust, expectation, steadfastness, and standing on God's word.
This document discusses the meaning and importance of God's faithfulness. It begins by asking the reader if they are faithful to God, their family, others, their ministry, and church. It then provides several Bible verses demonstrating that God is faithful, including that He will not abandon His people. The document argues that God is faithful to maintain His glory, truthfulness, and reputation. It explains that God faithfully keeps His covenants and shows mercy to those who love and obey Him. In conclusion, it encourages readers to commit to being faithful in all things, with the promise that if they do, God will bless them as He promised He would bless the Israelites.

The document discusses how God created everything for his glory and that the ultimate goal of the universe is to show God's glory. It provides definitions of God's glory and discusses how God's glory is revealed in creation, Jesus, and the Bible. It argues that we should live to bring God glory by worshipping him, becoming like Christ, serving others, telling others about God, and fulfilling God's purposes for our lives. The document discusses the divine origin, absolute truth, and sovereign accomplishing power of God's word. It argues that the Bible is inspired directly by God and contains his unfailing truth, as demonstrated through its divine consistency over many authors over centuries. God's word will achieve his purposes as he speaks things into existence and directs history according to his commands and truth contained in scripture.
Some notes from recent teaching sessions - they are aimed at giving more of a background / preparatory idea about how a person might move into a position to be "anointed" by God.
God is faithful and faithfulness is his character. He cannot contradict himself or do wrong as there is no variation in him. Faithfulness is God's covenant to his people and his assurance to believers. The same standard of faithfulness is required of believers. Unfaithfulness has consequences like being scattered from one's land and facing famine. Knowing the dangers of unfaithfulness, one should commit to being faithful to God and make adjustments if currently unfaithful.
Before Christ came into our lives, we were children of darkness. But even as God is light, and Christ is the light of the world, so also are we are children of light. As such, we ought to walk in the light and behave in a manner consistent with our calling. Wake up oh Christian and let your light shine.
This document provides guidance on how to successfully complete the Christian race by focusing on reaching forward with persistence, applying yourself with purpose, conquering evil with God's power, and enduring hardness with patience. It encourages the reader to become a faithful Christian by hearing and believing the gospel, repenting of sins, confessing faith, and being baptized.
The document discusses what it means to be a committed Christian. It begins by examining a passage from John about Jesus being glorified and commanding his disciples to love one another. It then defines a committed Christian as someone who is committed to giving God all glory, loving other believers, and having unwavering loyalty to God. The challenges facing the church today that can undermine commitment are identified as religious pluralism, materialism, and secularism. The document emphasizes that true commitment involves living according to God's commands, not just making promises of loyalty.

1) Tithing refers to giving 10% of one's annual income to support the church. It is considered a requirement based on passages like Malachi 3 where God says to bring all tithes "into the storehouse".
2) While the church receives the tithes, tithing is an offering directly to God as the owner of all things. Not tithing is considered robbing God.
3) The Bible promises blessings for those who tithe, including opening the "windows of heaven" and protection from destruction. Tithing requires faith but can be tested according to Malachi 3.
The document discusses tithing and giving offerings to God. It says that by bringing a tenth of one's income as a tithe to God, He will bless people with prosperity, protection from harm, and progress as other nations recognize their blessedness. Obeying God through tithing and offerings results in provision, protection, and progression. But the ultimate good news is being able to restore one's relationship with God.
This document discusses how to properly manage money according to biblical principles. It provides guidelines for how to view money as coming from God, restrain greed, use money for ministry purposes like worship and helping others, prioritize one's spouse in financial decisions, regulate spending, and remember to generously share with others. Key verses discussed encourage cheerful giving without reluctance, as God is able to bless abundantly in return.
Wealth is a gift from God that believers are meant to manage wisely and use to help others in need. While having money is not inherently bad, the Bible warns that the love of money or reliance on wealth can become an idol that leads people away from God. Believers are encouraged to give generously to the poor and not hoard wealth for its own sake so that God's blessings may continue to flow.
Stewardship and tithing refer to utilizing and managing resources God provides for His glory and the betterment of His creation. As stewards, believers are responsible for overseeing and preserving what God has given them. The Bible instructs bringing tithes to God to support His house. It also promises blessings for those who trust God with their resources. Ultimately, God owns everything, so one cannot outgive Him. Through faithful stewardship and tithing, believers can experience God's provision.
This document discusses the concept of generosity and being blessed. It references several Bible passages that talk about how God blesses the generous. It emphasizes that blessedness is a matter of position through Jesus Christ, not possessions. To experience God's blessing, one must have the heart of generosity, sowing generously as God first sowed generously through giving His Son. True riches come from being generous with what God has provided, not from storing up earthly wealth for oneself. The key to living a blessed life is maintaining a heart of generosity.
Genesis 47:13-15 Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. 14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. 15 So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed." There are a number of reasons that money fails.
The document discusses the importance of generosity and giving. It notes that the key to a blessed life is having a heart of generosity. It provides several biblical references about giving freely and prospering. Generous people who give cheerfully will reap bountifully and be made rich in every way. God blesses those who honor him with their wealth through tithes and offerings.
The document discusses tithing and blessings from God. It provides examples from the Bible where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and others were faithful in tithing and received blessings from God as a result. This included becoming wealthy and prosperous despite attempts by others to contain their blessings. The document encourages Christians to tithe faithfully like the Israelites did, and says one should test God in this by tithing for three months to receive His promises of pouring out blessings. Not tithing is considered stealing from God and leads to a cursed business rather than a blessed business.
The document discusses the biblical reasons for tithing and giving offerings. It explains that everything belongs to God and we own nothing. It encourages giving cheerfully, generously, sacrificially, and selflessly. The document cites several biblical passages about how God rewards generous giving and how even small gifts from those with little can mean a lot to God. Overall, the document promotes biblical financial support of churches and ministries through the practice of tithing 10% of one's income and giving additional voluntary offerings.
The document discusses biblical perspectives on money, possessions, and generosity. It provides several "keys" or principles: 1) God owns everything and we are merely stewards of what he provides. 2) Where we put our money reveals where our heart is and determines where it will go. 3) Heaven, not earth, is our true home. 4) We should live not just for short-term pleasures but with an eye to eternal rewards. 5) Giving is the only remedy for materialism and selfish desires. 6) God blesses our generosity not to raise our standard of living but to increase our standard of giving.
The document discusses the proper way to give to God based on the biblical account in 1 Chronicles 29:1-21. It summarizes that giving to God should be done willingly and joyfully from the heart. It also notes that one should pray before giving to make the offering spiritual by acknowledging God's greatness, one's own inadequacy, and presenting spiritual needs and requests to God. The key is giving in a way that pleases God so that the offering is accepted and recorded in heaven.
The document discusses the biblical basis for first fruits offerings and God's message regarding offering the first fruits. It explains that the first fruits offering is not about money, but about obedience to God and prioritizing Him over personal wants. God promises blessings like healings, restored families, and wisdom if His people obey Him by joyfully and willingly offering their first fruits. The document emphasizes that the first fruits demonstrate that all things belong to God and that the offering recognizes His faithfulness, generosity, love, and mercy.
This document discusses the importance and blessings of generosity. It provides several Bible verses that encourage giving to the poor and sharing what God has provided. It notes that true wealth is not about material possessions but about having a generous spirit. The document outlines different types of givers from spontaneous to strategic to sacrificial. It encourages readers to develop a "generous eye" and consider how they can grow in generosity by sacrificially giving as God has blessed them.
This document provides an overview of a 2-week series called "Living The Blessed Life" taught by David Thompson. Week 1 focuses on Lordship and Generosity, while Week 2 covers Practical Stewardship and Generosity. The document discusses biblical principles of generosity, including that we are stewards not owners of what God provides. It encourages tithing as a starting point and promises God will bless the generous. The final week will share a story called "Miracle in Franklin" and discuss practical application.
David modeled how to give to God through tithes and offerings. He gave willingly and joyfully with integrity, mixing his giving with prayer. When giving, we should:
1. Worship God
2. Come with a sanctified heart
3. Give willingly and with joy
4. Pray for faithfulness in our giving
5. Make intercession
6. Close with more worship
David's example teaches us to give prayerfully in order to honor God and receive His blessing.
The passage encourages generous giving to God's kingdom. It says that those who sow sparingly will reap sparingly, while those who sow generously will reap generously. Believers are instructed to give cheerfully from their heart, not under compulsion. God is able to bless abundantly so that believers will have more than enough for every good work and their righteousness will endure.

Editor's Notes
Tithing is your acknowledgment of God as owner and you as His steward.A steward is a guardian of the interests of another. He owns nothing, but is careful to guard, protect and increase the property of the one he serves. We are stewards of time, strength, ability as well as our money.
To honor means to respect the person and to give him or her appropriate attention and obedience. In the agricultural community to which this teaching was directed, the barns represented their bank, their livelihood, savings, and investments. God desires to bless us so that we might be a blessing to others.
For God the focus of the tithe is relationship. He is our Father and Master we are sons and stewards and in the context of both relationships we are accountable to Him.The Father was looking for his honor and reverence not just the money.
Not a meal you would present to someone you wanted to honor. When we give God our leftovers we dishonor Him.What would you think if this was served at a meal to honor you?
Honor is about love, presentation, and attitude, respect. There is a desire to please and express gratitude.
Honor the Lord with our substance.Money is a means of exchangeIt represents value
The tithe or first fruits acknowledges God as the owner and giver of all increase into our life.
As stewards our commitment must be to God as our owner and source. Abram refused to submit to Sodom as his source, he relied on the covenant.
The greatest wealth we will ever possess is our relationship with our heavenly Father.
4 things tithing will doGod blessings are designed to increase our worth to be a blessing not just our net worth. – The blessing of the Lord maketh rich and adds no sorrow. He increases our capacity to receive and still gives us more than we can receive. – baggies.
The signs of being devoured.Fear: Occurs as we become aware of all the possible ways in which we could lose our most cherished possessions.Anxiety: The physical and emotional tension which results when we think about financial problems.Insecurity: The by-product of building our lives around people, positions, or possessions which we know can be taken from us.Loss of sleep: Worry and pressure from financial cares become greater at night and remove the possibility of peaceful sleep.Ungratefulness: Financial cares and concerns decrease our ability to appreciate or enjoy the many benefits that God provides for us.Reverse ownership: We love the things God gave us to enjoy more than God. Thus, the things that we own soon own us.Envy: Desiring to have what someone else has. It robs us of our ability to enjoy what God has given to us.
1 Peter 5:8 “Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.”
Consider your ways – this is what you bring on yourself when you don’t put God first.Giving God the 1st tenth is not a minus but God multiplies the remaining 90% so that it can do more than 100%.
