tongues?

languages.
• It is a gift of the Holy Spirit for
believers.
3. Mark 16:17
And these signs will
accompany those who
believe: In my name they will
drive out demons; they will
speak in new tongues;(NIV)
4. God never makes a mistake, He
never changes and He gives only
perfect gifts. Therefore when He
gave the gift of "speaking in
unknown languages" ("tongues")
to the church on the day of
Pentecost, He knew exactly what
He was doing. The gift of
"tongues" was a perfect gift. God
has not changed His mind about
the gift, for He never changes.
5. James 1:17
(NIV) Every good and perfect gift
is from above, coming down from
the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting
shadows.
(MSG) Every desirable and
beneficial gift comes out of
heaven. The gifts are rivers of light
cascading down from the Father of
Light. There is nothing deceitful in
God, nothing two-faced, nothing
fickle.
6. God is a supernatural God!
He can fulfill the deepest
longings of our hearts with
His love and power. Speak
in Tongues is one of the
instruments that He works
through in order to do this.

evidence when someone is
baptized in the Holy Spirit.
9. Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came,
they were all together in one place.
Suddenly a sound like the blowing
of a violent wind came from
heaven and filled the whole house
where they were sitting. They saw
what seemed to be tongues of fire
that separated and came to rest on
each of them. All of them were
filled with the Holy Spirit and
began to speak in other tongues as
the Spirit enabled them.
10. Acts 2:4 (NLT)
And everyone present was
filled with the Holy Spirit and
began speaking in other
languages, as the Holy Spirit
gave them this ability.
11. Acts 10:44-46
Even as Peter was saying these
things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all
who were listening to the message.
The Jewish believers who came
with Peter were amazed that the
gift of the Holy Spirit had been
poured out on the Gentiles, too.
For they heard them speaking in
tongues and praising God. Then
Peter asked,
12. Acts 19:2-6
"Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?" he asked them. "No," they replied,
"we haven't even heard that there is a Holy
Spirit." "Then what baptism did you
experience?" he asked. And they replied,
"The baptism of John." Paul said, "John's
baptism called for repentance from sin. But
John himself told the people to believe in the
one who would come later, meaning Jesus."
As soon as they heard this, they were
baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then
when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy
Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other
tongues and prophesied.
13. The interpretation of
tongues
• The ministry gift of tongues,
giving a message in tongues in
a public worship service, which
is to be interpreted.

the Spirit is given for the common
good. To one there is given through the
Spirit the message of wisdom, to
another the message of knowledge by
means of the same Spirit, to another
faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts
of healing by that one Spirit, to another
miraculous powers, to another
prophecy, to another distinguishing
between spirits, to another speaking in
different kinds of tongues, and to still
another the interpretation of tongues.
15. 1 Corinthians 14:26
What then shall we say,
brothers? When you come
together, everyone has a hymn,
or a word of instruction, a
revelation, a tongue or an
interpretation. All of these must
be done for the strengthening
of the church.
16. • This gift is only given in
certain situations, as the Spirit
wills. Therefore, not all
Christians are used in this gift.

all speak in tongues? Do all
interpret?
18. They can also be Heavenly
languages - tongues of angels

and of angels, but have not
love, I am only a resounding
gong or a clanging cymbal.

to pray in other tongues, or "In
the Spirit”
1 Corinthians 14:2
For anyone who speaks in a
tongue does not speak to men
but to God. Indeed, no one
understands him; he utters
mysteries with his spirit.(NIV)
20. Pray in the Spirit in order to pray
beyond our limited human
understanding , speak
mysteries to God and edify or
strengthen ourselves
21. 1 Corinthians 14:4
(NIV) He who speaks in a
tongue edifies himself, but he
who prophesies edifies the
church.

tongues is strengthened
personally, but one who speaks
a word of prophecy
strengthens the entire church.

prayers for all believers
everywhere.

yourselves up in your most
holy faith and pray in the
Holy Spirit.

Tongues Creates an Awareness
of God’s Indwelling Presence.

"prayer language"
25. • Paul. His faith was very strong, he
said:
1 Corinthians 14:18
I thank God that I speak in tongues
more than all of you.

good for you.
