This document contains passages from the Gospel of John that discuss Jesus' metaphor of himself as the true vine. It contains 7 "I AM" statements by Jesus where he identifies himself as the bread of life, light of the world, gate for the sheep, good shepherd, resurrection and life, way and truth and life, and true vine. The passages emphasize that those who remain in Jesus will bear much fruit but those who do not remain in him will wither and be burned.

It's hard for most people to grasp the concept of being a slave. Most would deny that they are servants. But the reality is that we are all slaves/servants to something. If one is honest with himself He'll admit that he is in bondage to his job, to a location where he lives, to a bad marriage, to a sick and dying body and most of all to sin. Paul speaks in the context to the Roman empire where the majority of his listeners are servants. You may not be this kind of a servant, but the principles are still applicable to employees, students and even children. Jesus did not come to rule but to serve. We are to do the same.
John 3:1-5. A New Life In Christ. In the new life we have been born again. In the new life we are a new creation. In the new life we crucify the flesh with its passions and desires. In the new life we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. In the new life we are renewed by the Holy Spirit. In the new life we are dead to sin but alive to God. In the new life we are washed from our sins. in the new life we put to death the old man and put on the new man. In the new life we died and our life is hidden with Christ in God. In the new life we were brought back from death in sin.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

I AM Statements
8.
9. You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you
drove out nations and transplanted
it. You cleared the ground for it; it
took root, and filled the land.
Psalm 80:8
10. I planted you in the land like a
special vine of the very best stock.
Why in the world have you turned
into something like a wild vine that
produces rotten, foul-smelling
grapes?
Jeremiah 2:21
11.
12. Israel was once a lush vine, bountiful in
grapes. The more lavish the harvest, the
more promiscuous the worship. The
more money they got, the more they
squandered on gods-in-their-own-
image. Their sweet smiles are sheer lies.
They’re guilty as sin. God will smash
their worship shrines, pulverize their
god-images.
Hosea 10:1-3; The Message
13.
14. You are already clean because of the
word I have spoken to you. Remain
in me, and I will remain in you. No
branch can bear fruit by itself; it
must remain in the vine. Neither can
you bear fruit unless you remain in
me.
John 15:3
15. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a
man remains in me and I in him he will
bear much fruit; apart from me you can
do nothing.
John 15:5
16. It is obvious what kind of life develops
out of trying to get your own way all the
time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a
stinking accumulation of mental and
emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless
grabs for happiness; trinket gods;
magic-show religion; paranoid
loneliness; cutthroat competition;
17. all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied
wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to
love or be loved; divided homes and
divided lives; small-minded and
lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of
depersonalizing everyone into a rival;
uncontrolled and uncontrollable
addictions; ugly parodies of community.
I could go on.
Galatians 5:19-21
18. But what happens when we live God’s way?
He brings gifts into our lives, much the same
way that fruit appears in an orchard-things
like affection for others, exuberance about
life, serenity. We develop a willingness to
stick with things, a sense of compassion in
the heart, and a conviction that a basic
holiness permeates things and people.
19. We find ourselves involved in loyal
commitments, not needing to force our way
in life, able to marshal and direct our
energies wisely. Legalism is helpless in
bringing this about; it only gets in the way.
Among those who belong to Christ,
everything connected with getting our own
way and mindlessly responding to what
everyone else calls necessities is killed off for
good-crucified.
Colossians 3:12-17
20. If anyone does not remain in me, he
is like a branch that is thrown away
and withers; such branches are
picked up, thrown into the fire and
burned.
John 15:6
21. For I have come down from heaven not to do
my own will but the will of the one who sent
me. Now this is the will of the one who sent
me – that I should not lose one person of
every one he has given me, but raise them all
up at the last day. For this is the will of my
Father – for everyone who looks on the Son
and believes in him to have eternal life, and I
will raise him up at the last day.”
John 6:38-40
22. But you refuse to believe because you are not
my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice, and I
know them, and they follow me. I give them
eternal life, and they will never perish; no
one will snatch them from my hand. My
Father, who has given them to me, is greater
than all, and no one can snatch them from my
Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
John 10:26-30
23.
24. If you remain in me and my
words remain in you, ask
whatever you want, and it will be
done for you. This is to my
Father’s glory, that you bear
much fruit, showing yourselves
to be my disciples.
John 15:7-8
25. If you obey my commandments, you
will remain in my love, just as I have
obeyed my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.
John 15:10
26. “Whoever has my commands and obeys
them, he is the one who loves me. He
who loves me will be loved by my
Father, and I too will love him and show
myself to him. ”
John 14:21
27. If you obey my commandments, you
will remain in my love, just as I have
obeyed my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love. I have told
you this so that my joy may be in you
and that your joy may be complete
John 15:10-11
28. My command is this: Love each other as
I have loved you. Greater love has no one
than this that he lay down his life for his
friends. You are my friends if you do what
I command.
John 15:14
29. You did not choose me, but I chose you
and appointed you to go and bear fruit,
fruit that remains, so that whatever you
ask the Father in my name he will give
you. This is my command: Love each
other.
John 15:16
30. And then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s
all you need. My strength comes into its own
in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was
glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the
handicap and began appreciating the gift. It
was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on
my weakness. Now I take limitations in
stride, and with good cheer, these limitations
that cut me down to size - abuse, accidents,
opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take
over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I
become. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
31. If I had not come and spoken to them, they
would not be guilty of sin. Now, however,
they have no excuse for their sin. He who
hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not
done among them what no one else did, they
would not be guilty of sin. But now they have
seen these miracles, and yet they have hated
both me and my Father.
John 15:22-24
32. But this is to fulfill what is written in
their Law: They hated me without
reason.
John 15:25
33. When the Counselor comes, whom I will
send to you from the Father, the Spirit of
Truth who goes out from the Father, he
will testify about me. And you also must
testify, for you have been with me from
the beginning.
John 15:26
