Introduction: Dental trauma in children is a significant oral health issue worldwide. School teachers are immediate seniors for
children in school, and they are considered as the primary care takers for them. Hence, the purpose of the study is to assess the
knowledge and attitude of school teachers with regard to emergency management of traumatic dental injuries and to evaluate the
association between school environmental factors with teacher’s knowledge and attitude towards management of dental trauma.
Material And Methods: A total of 160 teachers from the government schools were included in the study. Data were collected using
a five part questionnaire including demographic data, knowledge, attitude, self-assessment, and possible strategies to change the
scenario. Data obtained from 160 completed questionnaires were statistically analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test and chi
square test. Results: It was found that only 46.9% of the participant had adequate knowledge scores, and 60.6% of participant had a
positive attitude towards emergency management of dental trauma in school. The knowledge and attitude categories of school
teachers when compared with the length of service and those who witnessed traumatic dental injury in school using Pearson’ chi
square test statistically significant association (p <0.05) was observed with attitude scores only, while knowledge scores were not
significant. Conclusion: This study reveals a serious lack of knowledge and awareness among school teachers regarding emergency
management of dental injuries. We suggest educational programs should be developed for the school teachers to improve their
knowledge so that proper dental first-aid procedures can be achieved

teachers’ experiences of ED.
Method: A total of 826 school staff completed an online questionnaire exploring
their Eating Disorder experiences. Responses were analysed using content analysis principles.
Results: 74 per
cent of respondents’ schools had received no training on ED, 40% did not know how to follow up
pupils’ Eating Disorder concerns and 89% of respondents felt uncomfortable teaching pupils about ED.
Conclusions: School staff feel ill-equipped to support ED. Training in the recognition, support and teaching of
ED would be welcomed and could improve outcomes for young people.
Spotting and Supporting Eating Disorders in School - Recommendations from Sch...Pooky Knightsmith
Eating disorders have a high rate of onset in school-aged children. School staff are in an excellent position to spot the early warning signs and offer support during recovery. This paper explores the findings from focus groups conducted with 63 members of staff from 29 UK schools with the aims of (a) understanding whether they are in a good position to support students with eating disorders and (b) to generate recommendations regarding school staff’s training needs for spotting and supporting eating disorders. Participants took part in semi-structured focus groups. These were transcribed and analysed using content analysis principles. Five key themes emerged: 1. Many staff don’t have a basic understanding of eating disorders; 2. Eating disorders are taboo in the staffroom; 3. Staff don’t feel comfortable talking to students about eating disorders; 4. Support is needed to ensure the teacher-parent relationship is a positive one; 5. School staff would welcome practical ideas for how they can best support students during the recovery period. The findings show that school staff currently feel ill-equipped to support students with eating disorders and endorse a need for focused training for school staff to better enable them to support students with eating disorders.

Background- Oral health is a multi-factorial concept, determined by knowledge, behavior, and attitude of a person. Like any behavior carried out daily like a habit, oral health behaviors are also repeated like a habit. The multidimensionality of behavioral change makes studying it, and factors associated with it, a challenge, since there are so many aspects to consider. Objectives- To find an association between the oral health status and socio-behavioral factors among 12-15 years old school children of Belagavi city, India. Methods- A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to find an association between the oral health status and the knowledge, attitude and behavior of adolescents. One thousand participants were selected using two-stage random sampling. Dental caries, bleeding on probing, dental trauma, enamel fluorosis, intervention urgency was recorded according to the WHO 2013 proforma and the parameters regarding knowledge, attitudes as well as behavior using a closed ended self-designed questionnaire. Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis, and linear correlation tests were done. Results- Among 1000 subjects, 767 (76.7%) participants were found to have dental caries and 512 (51.2%) showed the presence of gingival bleeding. Out of a total score of 41, the mean knowledge score was 34.47 (±3.84) for boys and 34.76 (±4.13) for girls. Linear correlation showed that attitude was weakly correlated (r=0.18 and 0.20 respectively) but with a strong statistical significance to knowledge as well as behavior respectively. Conclusion- Attitude when compared separately either with knowledge or behavior showed a weak correlation that was highly significant. Comparison of behavior with caries experience showed a weak negative correlation which was statistically insignificant. Terminal Competency Assessment of Core Nursing Knowledge in a State UniversityRyan Michael Oducado
Assessment of educational outcomes upon completion of the nursing program is one way to inform academic institutions of the effectiveness of their teaching-learning practices. A descriptive correlational study design was carried out among 141 graduating nursing students of West Visayas State University to assess their terminal cognitive competency on core nursing knowledge framed under the National Nursing Competency Standards’ 11 Key Areas of Responsibility. All regular graduating students in the year 2015 with complete records of secondary data needed for the study were included. A validated and reliability tested questionnaire was used to assess the terminal core nursing knowledge competencies of the students. Results revealed that students, prior to graduation, had good core nursing knowledge. Significant differences were found in the terminal core nursing knowledge of students when grouped according to Nursing Aptitude Test (NAT) and academic performance in professional nursing courses, with students who had excellent and superior NAT performance and those with very good and outstanding academic performance in professional nursing courses having significantly higher terminal core nursing knowledge. NAT and academic performance had significant, positive correlation to core nursing knowledge. Further, NAT and academic performance accounted for 46% of variance explained in the core nursing knowledge of nursing students. Higher Education Institutions, therefore, must commit themselves in providing quality nursing education by ensuring proper, responsive and relevant implementation of the nursing curriculum. This in turn may translate to attainment of intended educational outcomes and learners knowledgeable of the basic foundation of nursing practice.
School Entry Age: The younger group has more behavior and academic problemsYanki Yazgan
Sule Yazgan, M.D. and I represented our group of child psychiatry, pediatrics and psychology at the AAP 2015 meeting in Wash DC.
Sule presented data from a community based study that was conducted during the 2012-2013 academic year when the compulsory school age entry in Turkey was redefined as 60/66 months.
The study was led by Sebla Gokce, M.D. and I was the senior investigator.
Our findings showed that the 1st grade children who were under 72 months had more behavioral symptoms and functional impairment. There were more diagnosable cases of ADHD in the under 72 months group than the "older" children who became 1st graders after 72 months. The changes in school entry age appears to be associated with more children with ADHD symptoms and impairment in that urban sample.
We need to further elaborate the discussion and do quite a few analyses before we proceed with the write up. The findings are parallel to earlier findings of younger age in the classroom to be associated with more diagnoses of ADHD. Here we have an even younger than usual group whose symptom/impairment level and caseness escalated. Whether these changes in behavior led to an increase in the referrals and treatment for ADHD, and whether this findings is generalizable to more disadvantaged, semiurban and rural areas of Turkey await further research.

The increasing number of teenage pregnancy in schools is a serious concern in the education sector and society at large. This concern instigated the study by looking at the policy implementation and awareness of the policy among learners and the public at large in Khomas Region
We use a randomized field experiment to test whether a new self-study routine, designed to encourage the use of class textbooks at home, can improve student achievement. In treatment schools, students and teachers were incentivized to adopt the routine through, respectively, a public display of stars (one for each time they took home books) and financial incentives (to compensate for potential loss or damage of textbooks). French language test scores improved in the treatment schools by 0.307σ relative to the control group, but no impact on math test scores was found. The intervention also raised the average likelihood of a student taking the end of the year national exam by almost 10 percentage points, though it did not measurably raise average exam results. The routine made self-study at home more time efficient and increased students’ job aspirations and their perceptions of the usefulness of textbooks, likely pathways for the main results. The low cost routine relied on more efficient usage of existing basic educational material, making it feasible also in a very resource constrained and fragile setting. Our findings highlight the critical role of self-learning to promote student achievement and suggest that a simple ‘textbook at home’ routine may compensate for lower quality teaching in class.

The study examined the level of parents’ contributions to their children’s education process and its influence on SPI in UCE examinations in Central and Northern Uganda. The objective was to investigate the influence of the levels of the parents’ contributions towards education process of their children on the SPI in UCE in schools in Central and Northern Uganda. Quantitative and qualitative approaches were used. 72 school leaders, 80 teachers, 140 students, 12 parents and 10 Key Informants (KI) participated. Data was collected using interviews, questionnaires and Informal Conversational Interview and analysed to obtain SPA, SPI and RSPC, frequency counts, percentages and using t-test. The result showed that the Parents of students in schools in Central Uganda contributed more than the parents from Northern Uganda. This has resulted in schools in Central Uganda achieving higher School Performance Indices (69% ≤ 118%) than schools in Northern Uganda (71% ≤ 163%) School leaders, especially, of schools in Northern Uganda therefore need to encourage parents to contribute more in their children’s school.

Introduction: The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of school screening, parental knowledge and health education in
stimulating dental attendance among 6 to 10 years old children.
Material and Methods: A randomized controlled trial was carried out, with a sample size of 155 in each group. The study was conducted over a
period of 3 months, baseline clinical findings were assessed using dentition status and plaque index and knowledge of parents was evaluated using a
questionnaire in both the groups. The study group participants received oral health education and educational leaflets were distributed to the
parents. Further after 3 months, the post-intervention improvement was assessed as before. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version
22. Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, paired t-test, Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to analyze the data.
Results: The overtime changes in oral health knowledge of parents were significantly different in the study group (p-value <0.001). Highly
significant reduction in Plaque scores was reported in the study group compared to control group (p-value <0.001). Overall there were no
significant differences in DMFT and dmft increments between the groups. The intervention was not effective at reducing the level of active caries
and increasing attendance in the population under study.
Conclusion: Even though the intervention had positive effects on plaque score and and on oral health knowledge of parents, but the rate of
utilization was low. We need additional efforts addressing another individual, family, and community level factors to make such programs more
fruitful

school children, in the province of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, taking into account untreated caries and sociodemographic factors. A cross-sectional survey was administered with 1906 children aged 12 and participating in SBDPs. Four SBDPs were chosen to represent good and poor performance in urban and rural areas. Caries was assessed using World Health Organization (WHO) criteria, whereas the children were interviewed for the OHRQoL and sociodemographic data. The OHRQoL was assessed using the Condition-Specific Child-Oral Impact on Daily Performances (CS Child-OIDP) index related to dental caries. The results revealed that the mean CS Child-OIDP score was 1.63 (SD 3.20) for good performance SBDP and 6.89 (SD 8.85) for poor performance SBDP. Analysis by negative binomial regression showed that being served by a poorly performing SBDP (RR = 4.45, 95% CI = 3.87–5.13), and to some extent living in a rural area and being a girl, were significantly associated with a greater risk of having a lower quality of life than were the counterparts. Untreated caries did not show an association with OHRQoL. In conclusion, there are substantial indications that SBDP performance is related to children’s OHRQoL.

Background The oral cavity is the gateway to the body. Oral health education always begins with awareness of oral health Aim This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of school based health education on knowledge and practice regarding oral hygiene among the primary school children in rural areas of Tumkur, Karnataka, India and to find out various factors associated with it. Materials and methods An Evaluative research approach with Pre experimental one group pretest and posttest design and Non probability purposive sampling technique were used to select 100 primary school children from rural community Karnataka, India. A self structured knowledge questionnaire and practice checklist was used for assessing the knowledge and practice among the subjects. SPSS version 25 was used for data analysis. Results There was a significant difference between the pre and post intervention level of knowledge t = 41.7, p= 0.0001 and practice t = 33.9, p= 0.0001 regarding oral hygiene among the primary school children. There was an association between primary school children’s knowledge score with their demographic variables like age x2 = 10.3, p=0.03 and mothers educational status x2 = 11, p=0.01 .There was an association between primary school children’s practice score with their demographic variables like age x2 = 10.1, p=0.04 , socioeconomic status x2 = 8.9, p=0.01 and mothers educational status x2 = 16.7, p=0.001 . Conclusion School based health education was effective to enhance the knowledge and practice of oral hygiene among the primary school in rural communities. Effectiveness of Educational Poster on Knowledge of Emergency Management of Dental Trauma - Part 2: Cluster Randomised Controlled Trial for Secondary School Students

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of educational poster on improving secondary school students’ knowledge of emergency management of dental trauma.
Methods: A cluster randomised controlled trial was conducted. 16 schools with total 671 secondary students who can read Chinese or English were randomised into intervention (poster, 8 schools, 364 students) and control groups (8 schools, 305 students) at the school level. Baseline knowledge of dental trauma was obtained by a questionnaire. Poster containing information of dental trauma management was displayed in a classroom for 2 weeks in each school in the intervention group whereas in the control group there was no display of such posters. Students of both groups completed the same questionnarie after 2 weeks.
Results: Two-week display of posters improved the knowledge score by 1.25 (p-value = 0.0407) on average.
Conclusion: Educational poster on dental trauma management significantly improved the level of knowledge of secondary school students in Hong Kong.

Background Dental caries continues to be a major health issue for worldwide population which decreases individual’s quality of life. In children dental caries and gingivitis are major health problem due to lack of preventive efforts and change in dietary requirement. According to WHO, oral health awareness among children can be promoted through schools by improving good knowledge, attitude and behavior related to oral health that will be helpful for prevention and control of dental diseases among children. Hence there is a necessity to find out oral hygiene practices and occurrence of dental caries among school age children. With this background, researcher make a plan to conduct a survey with the following objective. Objective To assess dental caries, gingivitis and oral hygiene practices among school age children in a selected community area. Methodology A quantitative approach with cross sectional descriptive design was used to assess dental caries, gingivitis and oral hygiene practices among children. 195 school going children residing in rural area of Doiwala block were selected by using convenience sampling technique. Data was collected by pretested questionnaire. Ethical permission was obtained from institutional ethical committee and informed consent was taken from study participants. Results The statistical finding shows that 184 94.36 mothers had not attend any education related to dental hygiene previously. Maximum mothers 97.95 have taught their child how to brush the teeth. It was surprising to note that 144 58.96 of children found to be suffering from dental caries. It was found that 38.79 of children were suffering with teeth pain. Very less 45 29.9 children had reported that they had visited dentist. There was significant association found between material use for remove food debris between the teeth’s and dental caries at p .001 . There was also significant association found between technique use for brushing teeth and dental caries p 0.003 . Conclusion The research findings showed that school age children give very less importance to oral hygiene. In this study we found greater need of health education and encouraging parents regarding children oral hygiene which can be beneficial to prevent dental caries among school going children. The aim of the study to assess the knowledge on behavioral problems of school children among school teachers. Descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The population for the study includes school teachers who are handling the students in the age group between 6 12 years. The sample selected for the present study was 60 school teachers who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Purposive sampling technique was adopted for the study. The study result shows that the knowledge of school teachers on behavioral problems of school children shows that 15 25 of school teachers having moderately adequate knowledge and 45 75 of them have inadequate knowledge and none of the school teachers had adequate knowledge regarding behavioral problems of school children among school teachers. The mean and standard deviation of the study is 14.02 4.26. The study concluded that knowledge of school teachers regarding behavioral problem were poor, so there is a need to improve the knowledge of school teachers about behavioral problem of school children. Discrete Trial Training (DTT) effect on children with ASD
Introduction
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition that affects the development of an individual affecting their behaviour and the ability to communicate (Autism Spectrum Disorder, 2021). In most cases, this disorder exhibits its symptoms within the initial two years of an individual, despite its diagnosis being plausible for individuals of all ages. Persons diagnosed with this disorder often have repetitive behaviours and restricted interests, find it difficult to partake in social interactions and communication with others, and show other symptoms that may impede the individual's ability to perform well in school, work and several other aspects of life ("Autism Spectrum Disorder, 2021). The individuals diagnosed with the disorder will, in some cases, be reliant on their families and individuals close to them for help and support. Despite the disorder's potency as a life-long condition, some services and treatments are provided, helping an individual diagnosed with the condition improve the quality of their life. It is also important to note that the disorder has several different variations; hence, the spectrum of different characteristics, unique to every diagnosed individual.
According to studies conducted, one in fifty-four children is diagnosed with the disorder in the United States, occurring in children of all racial backgrounds and socioeconomic groups ("Data and Statistics on Autism Spectrum Disorder | CDC," 2021). According to the same report, the disease is four times more likely to occur in boys than in girls. Between 2009 to 2017, the number of children aged between 3-17 years diagnosed with development disorders, inclusive of ASD, increased from 16.2% to 17.8%. (Ünlü et al., 2018). In the use of discrete trial training (DTT), children are taught a plethora of skills, which include academic, language, and social skills, necessary to facilitate their development. In the treatment of ASD, options are limited. However, early diagnosis, coupled with behaviour interventions, is considered to have the best outcomes in managing the disorder's symptoms (Masi et al., 2017).
The prevalence of ASD in children has been noted to rise significantly in the population (Masi et al., 2017; "Data and Statistics on Autism Spectrum Disorder | CDC," 2021), affecting a larger portion of the population. This number of affected individuals is projected to rise even higher in the coming years, a problem in society that needs to be addressed. In the treatment of the disorder, drug interventions, while widely used, have failed to prove their efficiency in improving or managing symptoms in most cases (Masi et al., 2017). The treatment options for the disorder are also very limited. INTRODUCTION
Oral health is now recognized as equally important in relation to
general health. Dental caries and periodontal diseases are the two
foremost oral pathologies that remain widely prevalent and affect all
populations throughout the life span. The primary schools impart of
broad set of values that transient specic knowledge acquired during
the time at school will determine what kind of person the child will
become. It has been proven that school can provide an ideal platform
for the promotion of oral health pile res have been an even greater
environmental problem. The school going age is the most inuential
period of a child's life and it is the period during which the children
develop skills, beliefs and attitudes which they practices throughout
theirlives.
OBJECTIVES:-
1. To assess the level of knowledge and Attitude of upper primary
school children before and after administration of training
programregardingdentalhygiene.
2. To compare the level of knowledge & Attitude of upper primary
school children before and after administration of training
programregardingdentalhygiene.
3. To nd association between selected demographic variable and
posttest knowledge score among the upper primary school

METHODOLOGY:-
The researcher adopted Quasi experimental one group pre-test post-
test research design to assess the effectiveness of training programme
on knowledge and attitude regarding dental hygiene among school
children in selected government school, Kheda District. The school
children who fulll the inclusion criteria were the sample for the study
and sample size was 40. Probability simple random sampling
technique was used for data collection. The pre-test was conducted
followed by the administration of training xix programme for 30-45
minutes by using demonstration scenario, video, ash card, and charts
after which post test was conducted after a period of 3 days. Collected
datawereanalyzedusingdescriptiveandinferentialstatistics.
RESULTS:-
In the pre-test level of knowledge, 55 (91.67%) of school children had
inadequate knowledge and 05 (08.33%) had moderate knowledge.
None of them had adequate knowledge and in the pre-test level of
attitude, 03(05.00%) are Unfavourable attitude, 57(95%) are
Moderately Favourable attitude. None of them had Favourable
attitude. In the post-test level of knowledge, 28% (46.67%) had
moderately adequate and 32 (53.33%) had adequate knowledge. None
of them had inadequate knowledge.., and in the post test level of
attitude 27% (45.00%) had favourable attitude and 33(55.00%) had
moderately favourable attitude. None of them had unfavourable
attitude. The outcome of paired t-test knowledge score and statistical
signicance based on Paired t-test. The maximum score was 12, mean
was 6.18, standard deviation was 1.96 and paired t-test value was 24.41
hence there exists signicance effectiveness on level of knowledge
before and after administration of training programme among school
children. The outcome of paired t-test attitude score was 36, mean was
7.50, standard deviation was 3.79 and paired t-test was 15.29 that
hence there exists a signicance effectiveness on level of attitude
before and after administration of training programme among school
children.

Dental caries is a major public health problem with a high prevalence and incidence among the school children, especially
in low-income populations. The study attempted to assess the effectiveness of training programme on knowledge and
attitude regarding dental hygiene among school children and found that the training programme was effective in increasing knowledge and
attitude regarding dental hygiene among school children. The assessment of knowledge and attitude regarding dental hygiene measures among
school children revealed that the overall mean score was 12 for knowledge and 36 for attitude. Hence, there was adequate knowledge level and
favorable attitude of school children. The outcome of paired t-test attitude score was 36, mean was 7.50, standard deviation was 3.79 and paired t-
test was 15.29 that hence there exists a signicance effectiveness on level of attitude before and after administration of training programme among
schoolchildren.

CONCLUSIONS
The study attempted to assess the effectiveness of training programme
on knowledge and attitude regarding dental hygiene among school
children and found that the training programme was effective in
increasing knowledge and attitude regarding dental hygiene among
school children. The assessment of knowledge and attitude regarding
dental hygiene measures among school children revealed that the
overall mean score was 12 for knowledge and 36 for attitude. Hence,
there was adequate knowledge level and favourable attitude of school
children.
