Managed mechanical and electrical engineering at multiple facilities at a power transmission products
manufacturer. Managed the greenfield construction of a plant and equipment in Guiyang, China.
Arbor Plastic Technologies, Bloomfield Hills, MI 2009-2010
VP of Manufacturing
Developed, engineered, planned and began the implementation of a manufacturing operation for the
production of polymer additives.
Key Achievements:
• Implemented the PLEX ERP system.
• Developed a means to pelletize a low temperature low molecular weight polyolefin.
• Conducted customer trials for new plastic additives including purge agents, process optimizers and
non-halogenated fire retardants. Trials included injection molding, blow molding and extrusion.
• Developed a strategic and tactical production scale up plan, including equipment specifications and a
capital budget.

ENGINEERING MANAGER 1989-2009
Managed mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering, machine construction, machine repair, tool
machining, building repair at an automotive, aerospace, and armor manufacturer of polymer compounds.
Key Achievements:
EQUIPMENT
• Managed, engineered, and purchased $3M mixing system, unique in industry, that allowed company
to far out pace competition in capability, quality and productivity with labor savings of $400K/yr. Used
VA/VE to engineer feed system.
• Managed and engineered new system of product application involving robotics, computers and a
small extruder that would result in entirely new product line for company. This device received patent
(#5358397) on which I was named one of three inventors. This resulted in $10M annual sales world
wide.

• Developed and specified laminating press system for composite armor used for mobile fighting
positions and hatches on armored security vehicles.
• Led movement of entire production operation including 12 extruders and associated equipment in
approximately three months without a production interruption. New layout and process flow were
based on lean principles.
• Inspired the creation and implementation of Compression Molding technology allowing L & L to
compete with injection molding due to quicker cycle time and reduced tool cost by 75%.
• Managed intensive mixing project that was first in industry. Project resulted in possibility of an entirely
new product line and saved millions of dollars in material cost.
• Engineered and designed material cramming device to push tacky material into extruder that
previously could not be done without great variable or fixed costs saving L & L Products at least
$50K/yr.

• Inspired and developed people to grow from technicians to staff engineers in leadership rolls.
FACILITIES
• Managed construction of 106,000 sqft. and a 120,000 sqft manufacturing buildings and 20,000 sqft.
corporate offices / R&D facility in just over one year and within budget.
• Negotiated electrical cost reduction by purchasing from Constellation New Energy for two years
saving $540K.
• Implemented zero-bleed chemical free water tower system that saved $120K/yr. in chemical usage.

• Implemented QS9000, TS16949 and ISO14000; was key member of team.
• Managed the implementation of on-line SPC system using Infinity QS giving us pre-alert capability.
• Initiated and implemented NFPA 70E standard that considerably improved safety and efficiency.
• Supervised tool and process estimation system including APQP and subsequent equipment DFMEA’s
and process PFMEA’s for thousands of jobs.
INTERNATIONAL
• Guided L & L Europe in initial purchases and start-up of equipment.
• Guided L & L China with purchasing and installing first plastic extrusion line.
PRODUCT / PROCESS
• Partnered black box development team that resulted in 2000% expandable product line.
• Initiated L & L Product’s first aerospace product, fuselage sound deadening blanket.
• Spear-headed safety and environmental systems. The safety system was often highlighted by
MIOSHA on-sight.
• Successfully managed $3M capital budget.
