Professional Experience
DuPont Electronic Polymers, Dayton, OH and Circleville, OH
Manufacturing Technology Senior Engineer/Technical Programs Manager (Dayton) 2007 - 2009
Manufacturing Technology Senior Engineer (Circleville) 2003 - 2007
Reporting to Global Technical Programs Manager and Site Manager (for Special Programs), responsible for: Process
optimization and process control strategies; Capacity and quality improvement programs; Process Design; Chronic
ergonometric issue resolution; Environmental and OSHA regulatory compliance strategy development.
Selected Accomplishments:
• Activated an idle $10MM investment to produce a new family of liquid resins for use in IC manufacture ($250,000 capital
project). Optimized the resin synthesis process and achieved a 25% yield improvement, which increased sales revenue
by an additional $1,500,000.
• Implemented a major upgrade to the site PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) process and realized a 95% rating on a
second-party PSM audit. Extended the frequency of site PSM audits from 3 years to 5 years ($100,000 per year
manpower savings). Instituted many Safety, Ergonomic and Environmental upgrades on-site using readily available
supplies and resources (favorably noted on PSM audit), such as soft-sided containments, “VORTEX®” cooling vests,
“Colder®” containment fittings, “Wilden®” pumps, others.
• Participated as a major contributor during a new herbicide process activation: project design work; physical installation;
crew supervision; safety awareness activities. Guaranteed the project ($500,000 capital) activation on-time, on-budget.
Assured the prevention of safety or environmental incidents.
• Discovered and resolved a $200,000 per month raw materials cost issue (SAP versus Legacy System) during the site-
wide implementation of SAP. Averted on-going real charges stemming from this SAP problem and recovered erroneous
vendor payments ($1,200,000).
• Conceived and implemented a raw material qualification program to assess major changes in raw material supply;
Validated $5,000,000 Six-Sigma Black Belt Program.
• Initiated and led the upgrade of existing process stack monitors to new technology and mediated OEPA acceptance of
the change ($800,000 capital project).
DuPont Site SHEA Staff, Circleville, OH
Environmental Technology Senior Engineer 1992 - 2003
Reporting to Site SHEA Manager, responsible for: Developing site-wide environmental and OSHA regulatory compliance
strategies (CAAA, RCRA, RMP, PSM, others) across multiple, diverse business groups.
Selected Accomplishments:
• Devised, began and directed the resolution of major RCRA issues impacting the installation of a wastewater treatment
facility for SP Resin. Eliminated additional $1,500,000 of capital investment, $100,000 of outside consultant costs and
$200,000 per year of potential operating expenses.
• Launched and executed a Title-V permit application for the Circleville Site (500 non-insignificant sources; 1,200
insignificant and exempted sources). Negotiated with the OEPA Permit Advisory Group (PAG) to develop and beta test
the state-wide software used for permit application submittal in Ohio. Obtained the permit application on-time.
Documented substantially to allow permit condition negotiations at a later date. Saved $400,000 of permit activity cost.
• Generated the air permits for Circleville "KAPTON(R)" K-3 facility, to include the casting line and solvent recycle.
Ensured that the permit application activity was not, at any time, on the project critical path. Cut one-time permitting
expenses by $100,000. Devised a unique "netting" permit strategy to avoid an onerous OEPA PSD review with
attendant 2-year delay in start of construction.

with no significant, additional capital investment (Capacity increased from nameplate of 100,000 pounds per year to
200,000 pounds per year for approximately $60,000 of additional capital; book value of facility was $8,000,000.)
• Handled the installation activity for Circleville on-site solvent recycle ($3,000,000 capital investment). Reduced the cost
of resin manufacture by 20% with the elimination of toll distillation charges.
• Led the engineering, installation and operation of a Circleville wastewater handling facility ($1,100,000 investment).
Attained compliance with the (then) new RCRA Toxicity Characteristic regulations. Completed on-time and under cost
projections. Assured the viability of the resin business in the face of greatly tightened regulations. Acknowledged the
vast amount of wage-roll contribution that paid off in a flawless start-up.
• Converted the Newark global manufacturing cost forecasting process from a strictly manual operation to a PC-based
spreadsheet environment. Designed final output format or ease of future analysis. Decreased annual manufacturing
cost forecast cycle from 3 months, total, to 2 weeks, total.
• Identified, undertook and finished programs to increase the capacity of the Wilmington resin facility by 10X, with no
major expenditures of capital. Fostered a strong team identity to uncover other incremental capacity increases.
