THE GUITAR (Juan Gris)
THE GUITAR (Juan Gris) It was painted in Paris, in 1918. It was painted during the world war. It is probably the most abstract piece of Juan Gris. The guitar is an example of showing images as emblems. In this picture we can see perspectives in profile and in front of, with the strings of the guitar... All these visions join to form one, and this way, to create the effect of volume and depth. This is the essence of Cubism.
The GUITAR (Juan Gris) Technique Oil on canvas. The oil is known from the middle ages. Oil allows to realize a slower composition and makes the retouches possible. The detail and the precision increases with these materials and technique and the depth of the scene increases by means of an optical effect.
