The document summarizes classroom observations of an English language class for 4-5 year old students. Over five classes, the observer implemented various activities centered around themes like families, animals and the zoo. Songs, stories, videos and hands-on activities engaged the enthusiastic children. The observer realized they must stimulate the young learners through organized lessons using different resources to maintain interest given their short attention spans. Flexibility and adapting to the group was also important. Overall, implementing suggestions from teaching books helped guide effective lesson planning for the age group.
In my first two lessons I had to teach children to identify boys and girls. In their booklets students had a page in which they were supposed to match a drawing of a boy and a girl to their clothes. As they could identify and name colours and numbers, I tried to use their background knowledge and create a context of children playing in a park which I believed was meaningful to their age and interests. Surfing the net, I found some engaging songs, pictures and a video as well.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Class Nº1
The class was formed by a group of students between four and five years old .The first
day the teacher Sabrina introduced me to the class. She had a close bond with her
students at all times. The atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. They were
fun and enthusiastic all the time.
Children greeted me very happily. Then I started the class switching on the CD player
in order to sing the song “Hello sun” and three songs more, because they loved
jumping, dancing and doing the gestures according to the song. They moved their
hands singing “hello sun” .They repeated this activity daily at the beginning and at the
end of the class. When the music finished, they sat down on little chairs around the
table.
I started the class speaking about Bubba, a stuffed monkey which they considered their
pet; they loved and tried to hold all the time. I told a story about Bubba and his family.
Then they participated enthusiastically in order to tell the story and recognize each
member of Bubba’s family. Then I gave them instructions about the activities that they
had to do about Bubba’s family. This part of the class was very interesting because all
the children wanted to participate and did the tasks with interest and enthusiasm, such
as name the different members of the family. And they also asked for help when they
did not understand what activity they had to do. I felt very happy and involved in each
activity because they always treated me very kindly. Then we watched a video about
the monkey’s family and we also practiced the song in order to sing it .They were
entertained watching the video and singing the song. They were very interested in the
video and the song.
Finally, when time was over, I switched on the CD player in order to listen to the
“Goodbye” song .They immediately stood up and went near the CD player to dance

and jump the song “Goodbye”. They gave me a kiss, and then their parents came in
the classroom to pick them up.
I think that I as future teachers, we have to stimulate children to work with enthusiasm
and joy. I have to use different resources and didactic strategies in order to captivate
them in every activity. I can use different language skills, such as speaking and
listening, in order to stimulate them to work with interest because they are active and
vivacious. They may feel bored very quickly because they have short attention. This
may be a great challenge for me to face in my teaching practicum.

down on little chairs around the table in order to start the class. I presented a short
story about James’s family in order to review each member of family because we had
to work with girls and boys. After that we did a communicative activity where students
practisedeachmemberof the familywiththe storyof James’sfamily. All of them participated
naming each member of James’s family and they raised their hand to participate .They were
demandingall the time, working a lot in each stage of the class. Then I grave a sheet of paper
to each student to do a written task about James’s family. They wrote their names on each
sheet of paper. They were very enthusiastic all the time. Finally, we watched a video called
“Magic English” from a computer about the family with an interesting song .Then we sang
together some phrases of the song for the video Magic English.
Before the class finished, I switched on the CD player in order to listen to the
“Goodbye” song. They immediately stood up and went to dance and jump the
“Goodbye” song. They gave me a kiss, and then their parents came in the classroom to look
for them.
These childrenare demandingandalsotheywanttoparticipate all the time .InadditionIhave
to design or choose materials to help children to feel involved and engaged all the time in
different activities because they are actives and want to work with enthusiasm .They are
interested in each activity that the teacher gives them .I have to organize the time very well
according to the activities.

where they enjoyed jumping, dancing and doing the gestures according to the sing. They
moved their hands singing “hello sun” song. When the music finished, they went to sit sat
down on little chairs around the table in order to start the class. In this class I had to speak
about wild animals that lived in the jungle .I showed a big picture of a jungle and Bubba pet.
Then I told a story about Bubba, the stuffed monkey, and his friends, a lion and a tiger in
the jungle. After that they participated in telling part of the story. They l grave a drawing
with animals and they had to recognize the lion and the tiger and to paint them. After that I

As a teacher I have to be able to be flexible in each class and be able to adapt the topics
accordingto the group.I have to encourage students to work happily and with enthusiasm in
orderto continue learning.Ihave tostimulate andhelpthemtogo on working using different
tools such as videos and visual aids in order to help them to work. And I should also provide
themdifferent the tools to do the tasks successfully such as materials and instructions. I also
have to helpthemwhentheyaskforhelpbecause they are very little and they can feel bored
and they want answers all the time. I realize I will experience a whole new challenge in this
period.

The fourth class I greeted the children and they greeted me very happily. Then I started the
class switching on the CD player in order to sing the “Hello sun” song and three songs more
where they enjoyed jumping, dancing and doing the gestures according to the song. They

around the table in order to start the class. I started the class with visual aids, telling a story
aboutmonkey Bubba’sfriends. This story included other wild animals such as snakes, toucan
and alligator. Students interacted among them jumbling the story using pictures in order to
tell the shortstory , theyparticipatedall the time with enthusiasm and happiness .Then each
childplayeddoughto a snake .Theywere concentrated working and naming the wild animal.
Thenwhenthe time was up I told them they take their snake to their homes. Students were
happywiththeirsnakes.Ihad helpedsome of themtomake the animal with plasticine. Finally,
when the time was up I switched the CD player, students stood up and went near the CD

I have realised that when I organize activities, using different resources, students feel more
involved and willing to work and learn. I think I have to stimulate them to continue working
withenthusiasm. Itis a whole challenge to me. When they saw the platiciine they wanted to
work with it although some of them told me that they could not do an animal because they
were very little, for this reason I helped some of them to make the animal .They formed
beautiful snakes. I felt happy and captivated with their works.

switching on the CD player in order to song the song “Hello sun” song and they enjoyed
jumping, dancing and doing the gestures according to the sing. They moved their hands
singing “hello sun”. When the music finished, they sat down in little chairs around the
table in order to start the class. In this class I had to continue speaking about others
animals from the jungle. I told them a short story about a visit in the zoo, we saw others
wild animals such as elephant, bear and others. Then I prepared a black bag with
stuffed animals into it. They had to guess what animals there were into the black bag.
They guessed all the animals in the bag. Then they named in English each animal that
they had seen in the visit to the zoo. After that I prepared a brown square cardboard
like a mural where they had to stick a drawing of an animal from the zoo that they had
chosen. I gave them a sheet of paper to draw a wild animal from the zoo. They put their
name at each sheet of paper and they stuck eachsheetof paperon the cardboard withmy
help. Theylovedtheirworks .They named each animal that they had stuck on the mural and I
hung that mural on the wall .After that they named each animal that they had drawn on the
paper.I washappy to see theirfaces because they were very happy with their works. Finally,
whentime wasoverI switchedthe CD player, students stood up and went near the CD player
to dance and sing the song “good bye” because their parents came in the room to pick them
up.
I enjoyedworking with little children and applying different suggestions and activates that I
had readin teachingbooks forlittle children.Thismaterial helpedme alotto planas a guide in
order to organize and do the lesson plan according to the age of the children. I followed
different suggestions from teaching books that gave me many ideas about how to work with
differentresourcesaccording totheir age. I have be creative now and in the future and think
how I can stimulate andencourage students to feel involved in the activities in order learn
and work with enthusiasm and encouragement to go on learning the second language.
