Biblical Integration
Job 26:14
“And these are but the outer fringe of his works;
how faint the whisper we hear of him!
Who then can understand the thunder of his
power?”
Matter
Colossians 1:16
For in him all things were
created: things in heaven
and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or
powers or rulers or
authorities; all things have
been created through him
and for him.
This verse is relevant to
matter because everything in
the universe is created by
God. And everything is
matter.
● Everything in the universe is
matter.
● It has mass and takes up
space.
● Matter has 3 states.
● It can be measured in
volume, density and other
measurements.
Atoms and the Periodic Table
Jeremiah 29:11
For in him all things were
created: things in heaven and
on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or
rulers or authorities; all things
have been created through him
and for him.
This verse corresponds with
these facts because God has
placed everything in order and
everything that happens, He
has planned it.
● An atom contains a nucleus and
electrons.
● Atoms make up matter.
● The Periodic Table shows all of
the known elements in an order.
● There are 8 families of elements
in the Periodic Table.
● Some easily recognizable
elements are Fe (Iron), Au
(Gold), and Al (Aluminum).
Chemical Bonds
Ecclesiastes 4:12
Though one may be
overpowered, two can defend
themselves. A cord of three
strands is not quickly broken.
This verse tells us that helping
each other and working
together in doing God's work
will make us stronger.
● There are two kinds of chemical
bonds.
● Ionic bonds and covalent
bonds.
● Ionic bonds occur when one or
more electrons are transferred
between two oppositely charged
atoms.
● Covalent bonds occur when one
or more electrons are shared
between two or more non-
metals.
Chemical Reactions
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday and today and
forever.
Unlike chemical reactions,
and all the other things in this
world, Jesus never changes.
He will remain the same for
all eternity.
● A chemical reaction occurs
when a chemical bond
breaks or when a new bond
forms.
● The amount of matter in a
chemical reaction cannot
change.
● During a chemical reaction,
the materials that are already
there are called the
reactants.
● After the reaction is finished,
the new materials are called
the products.
Acids and Bases
1 John 4:1-3
Dear friends, do not believe every
spirit, but test the spirits to see whether
they are from God, because many false
prophets have gone out into the world.
This is how you can recognize the
Spirit of God: Every spirit that
acknowledges that Jesus Christ has
come in the flesh is from God, but
every spirit that does not acknowledge
Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit
of the antichrist, which you have heard
is coming and even now is already in
the world.
● You can tell if a solution is acidic if it
has a sour taste, and reacts with
metals. But don't go around tasting
hydrochloric acid. You might die.
● The ways to tell if a solution is a base
are if it has a bitter taste, slippery feel,
and reacts with indicators ( like litmus
paper).
● Acids and bases are measured on a
scale of 0 -14.
● Any solution that has a pH scale rating
of 6 or lower is acidic.
● Any solution that has a pH scale rating
of 8 or higher is basic.
● The only solution with a pH scale rating
of 7 is water. It is neutral.
Energy
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork,
created in Christ Jesus to do
good works, which God
prepared in advance for us to
do.
In order to do God's work, we
need energy. He gives us the
energy so that we can help
others see is face.
● There are two kinds of energy.
● Kinetic and potential energy.
● Kinetic energy is the energy of motion.
● Potential energy is energy that is
stored to be used sometime in the
future.
● Kinetic energy can be measured using
this equation.
Kinetic energy = Mass x Velocity ²
2
● GPE (gravitational potential energy)
can be measured using this equation.
GPE = Weight x Height
Thermal Energy
Revelations 3:15
I know your deeds, that you are
neither cold nor hot. I wish you
were either one or the other!
You must be either “hot for
God”, or “cold for God”. Being
neither is the worst of all. God
will completely disgrace you if
you are “luke-warm”.
● There are 3 common scales for
the measurement of thermal
energy.
● They are the Fahrenheit Scale,
Celsius Scale, and Kelvin
Scale.
● All of these are measured in
degrees except for Kelvin.
● The boiling point of water in the
scales are 212ºF, 100ºC, 373K.
● The freezing point of water in
the scales are 32ºF, 0ºC, 272K.
Motion
Acts 17:28
‘For in him we live and move
and have our being.’ As some of
your own poets have said, ‘We
are his offspring.’
Without motion, we wouldn't be
able to travel to different places
or even different places in our
own neighborhoods to spread
the good news of Jesus Christ.
● When an object it's distance
from another object is changing,
it is in motion.
● A reference point can be used
to see how far an object moved
from one location to another.
● Motion is measured in distance.
● Scientist use the International
System of Units (SI).
● This system uses kilometers,
meters, centimeters, and
millimeters.
Forces
Colossians 2:20
Since you died with Christ to the
elemental spiritual forces of this
world, why, as though you still
belonged to the world, do you
submit to its rules.
Just because we live in the
world, doesn't mean we have to
become of this world and keep
our spirit in this world when we
pass.
● A force is a push or pull.
● The overall force being used on
an object is called the net force.
● Unbalanced forces cause
moving, stoping, or change in
direction.
● Balanced forces are at a
standstill. They cannot move
the other object.
● An object at rest will stay at
rest. An object in motion will
stay in motion, unless acted on
by an outside force.
Magnetism
Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near to God with a
sincere heart and with the full
assurance that faith brings,
having our hearts sprinkled to
cleanse us from a guilty
conscience and having our
bodies washed with pure water.
When we are far away from
God and unlike Him, we must
draw closer to God. He will help
strengthen our relationship.
● Magnetism is the attraction of a
magnet of another object.
● A region of magnetic force
around a magnet is called the
magnetic field.
● Magnetic fields allow magnets
to interact even when they're
not touching.
Electricity
● Isaiah 40:29
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the
weak.
● If two electric charges are the
same, they will repel each other.
● If they are different, they will
attract to each other.
● If they have no charge, then
they remain unmoved.
● The electric field is what allows
an electric charge to be exerted.
Sound
Psalms 66:8
Praise our God, all peoples,
let the sound of his praise be
heard;
We were made to praise God.
He loves to hear us worship and
glorify his name.
● Sound is carried by waves.
● Sound is a disturbance which
travels through a medium and is
a longitudinal wave.
● The speed of sound is
dependent on the elasticity,
density, and temperature of the
medium it is traveling through.
● Elasticity is a materials ability to
bounce back when disturbed.
Light
John 12:46
I have come into the world as a
light, so that no one who
believes in me should stay in
darkness.
Jesus is the light of the world.
We can also be lights if we
share the good news of Him
everywhere.
● Light can be reflected,
absorbed, or transmitted.
● An object that absorbs all the
light is called opaque.
● If an object transmits light, it is
transparent.
● A translucent material scatters
light as it passes through.
