Hemophilia By Jordan
Effects of Hemophilia
●

●

Hemophilia causes one
to bleed exessively.
This is beacause the
blood doesn't clot
normally.
The individual that has
hemophilia could bleed
very easily and for long
periods of time.
Causes of Hemophilia
●

●

Hemophilia is a genetic
disorder, which means there
is a change in genes that is
inherited or developed.
Hemophilia is caused by a
defective X chromosome,
so it can only be passed
down from the mother. She
doesn't need to have the
disorder to pass it on, she
just needs to be a carrier.
Cure or Treatment
●

●

●

Though there is no permenant
cure there is a treatment for
hemophilia.
Victims of hemophilia can get
vaccines to “replace” the
clotting factor that they're
missing.
A clotting factor helps the blood
close up and create a scab.
There are twelve clotting factors
and people with hemophilia are
missing one factor. The
injection that they take is called
antifibrionolytics.
Diagnosing
●

●

Hemophilia can be
diagnosed by genetic
testing of the fetus.
This could help to
prepare for a child
with hemophilia.
International Hemophilia Day
●

There is an
International
Hemophilia Day
sponcered by the WFH
(World Federation of
Hemophilia), on April
17.
Types of Hemophilia
●

●

There are different
types of hemophilia,
Hemophilia A, and
Hemophilia B.
Of the two, Hemophilia
A is the more common.
Clotting Factors
●

●

●

Clotting factors are the
things that make a scab
to close up a cut.
Hemophilia victims are
missing clotting factor
VIII.
Without this factor, the
cut does not clot
normally.
