John Keats Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "John Keats" can present several challenges, primarily due to the
depth and complexity of the subject matter. Keats was a renowned Romantic poet whose works
are rich in symbolism, imagery, and thematic intricacies, making it essential for the writer to
possess a profound understanding of his life, poetry, and the historical context in which he lived.
Crafting an insightful essay on John Keats requires meticulous research to grasp the nuances of
his poetic style, influences, and philosophical beliefs. Moreover, analyzing his poems demands a
keen eye for detail and an ability to decipher the layers of meaning embedded within his verses.
One of the significant hurdles in writing such an essay is striking a balance between providing
biographical information about Keats and delving into a critical analysis of his poetry. It's
essential to contextualize his life experiences, including his struggles, relationships, and the socio-
political environment of the Romantic era, while also exploring the thematic elements and
literary techniques employed in his poems.
Furthermore, interpreting Keats' works often involves grappling with abstract concepts such as
beauty, mortality, nature, and the imagination, which can be intellectually demanding for the
writer. Capturing the essence of Keats' poetic vision and articulating it coherently in an essay
requires a profound appreciation for literature and a mastery of literary analysis.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "John Keats" necessitates a blend of historical insight, literary
acumen, and critical thinking skills. It's a task that demands dedication, thorough research, and a
profound appreciation for the complexities of Keats' life and poetry.

A Good Man Is Hard For Find By Flannery O Conner Essay
Flannery O Conner grew up in the backwoods of Georgia, where she found her
inspiration for her writing. Her Southern heritage was not the only thing that
influenced her though; often her Roman Catholic faith would impact her stories as
well (Ellis 35 36). She described herself as a Catholic peculiarly possessed of the
modern consciousness (qtd. in Hubbard 38) and stated that the best of [her] work
sounded like the old testament would sound if it were being written today (qtd. in
Kreyling 85). As such, O Conner is known for her portrayal of religious themes
throughout her writings. In A Good Man is Hard to Find, Flannery O Conner utilizes
violence in order to develop the grandmother s character within the story, and by
doing so, she is able to demonstrate the difference between having a moral code and
being virtuous.
For clarity, a person with a moral code by no means has to be virtuous, for a moral
code is simply a set of rules or a code of conduct which governs how an individual
should act within a community (Pam). By following a moral code, a character is
not necessarily morally good. We see this clearly in the grandmother. From the
very beginning, it is made clear that the grandmother s perception of right and
wrong is rather superficial; that is to say, she bases both her code of conduct and
her perception of being good off of the opinions of others. Making this abundantly
clear in the very beginning of the story, O Conner writes a full paragraph to overly
Are Footballers Paid Too Much Essay
Are Footballers Really Paid Too Much?
England international Wayne Rooney is paid ВЈ300,000 a week whereas doctors are
paid the same amount each year. However, in my opinion footballers are paid the
right amount because they provide entertainment for the public worldwide and help
people who are less fortunate.
Firstly, huge footballing fans pay thousands of pounds every season to see their
favourite team play week in week out. They must be paying a huge amount of
money every season because they want to be entertained or else they would watch
the games from home. Instead they spend a lot of money and go to the stadium
whether it is a capital one cup game or a league game. This is because the
atmosphere at the stadium is a different experience in its self because all the
spectators are singing chants and motivating the team to do well and score a goal.
They pay a lot of money because they might want to see their favourite player. If
your role model was visiting your town or city would you not pay to see them
whether they are performing live at an arena or have just come for a meet and
greet. This is the same for a footballing fan they pay to see their favourite player or
role model. Also if you want to watch football at home you have to pay for Sky Sports

It s the same for footballers most of them are naturally gifted and talented, they
then train and train to become better. After years of practice they are then scouted
and go to a professional club for trials and if they are then good enough they will be
given a short term contract. Becoming a footballer is not as easy as it looks in fact it
is a very long and stressful process. Also footballers are on a very low wage at the
start of their career and if they then progress and have a big money transfer they are
then paid a higher
Raventos i Blanc Company Essay
Introduction
RaventГіs i Blanc Company deal in production of cavas and wines. The main
objective of this company is to acquire an international status, but it has been a
complex task for the managers. The company is very outstanding in producing high
quality product, but its brands are not recognised internationally. In addition the
company lacks an exceptional positioning. Initially, lots of money was spent on
starting up the company but the expected results were not met because cava market
was very small.

There are also other brands like CrГ©mants, Franciacorta and the Champagnes
produced using the Champagne Method preferred in regard to cavas, because most
people distinguish that the brands are of high quality. The worth difference between
the CrГ©mants and the quality cavas can be attributed to brand recognition and
professed quality picture.
Opportunities:
Cava, like most fresh wines, can be drunk at festivities like Christmas, New
Year s Eve, at birthday s parties, anniversaries and during special moments. This is
indicated by the fact that most sales are made in the last quarter of the year. Over 5$
million sales and about 900000 sales of bottles can be sold on a good year. On the
other hand it has a good capital base of distributor because over 80% of income is
sourced from around fifty distributors in Spain.
Threats:
Sometimes the company has to compete with intermediary market groups, since it
does not face up to the magnificence wine brands or the popular, low priced brands.
There is also competition from Europe more especially among the French and
Italian businesses. Competition also comes from producers of cava and wines
produced in other areas like Italy for instance Cal del Bosco. Some fresh wine
consumers look for high quality product with custom and history, but not essentially
looking for a high brand image. There is also the fear of collapsing due to confusion
whether to continue producing cava or

What Makes Life Worth Living
What makes life worth living? To build a life that s worth living, we have to all
work together, be kind, learn more and be smart, we need to go get some money.
We can all build a life that s worth living, we need to help and love each other not
hate. We live in a real bad world of hate, killing, racism, kidnapping, bullying and
many more horrible things. It s crazy what we go through and do in this world. If
you asked me what makes life worth living, i would tell you what i think. In my
opinion i believe getting all the money being in love with a beautiful loyal woman
having loyal friends thats not fake and switch up on you, going on adventures and
trips. Having fun living life meeting famous people, meeting different kind of
people across the world, showing love instead of hate around the world and many
more things that makes life worth living. If you re living or do those things then
your a life worth living. If you re not living those things then it s okay, you can still
do it. You can change your life and make it worth living or not i wouldn t know
what to say to be honest. I would probably you are stuck in between the middle yes
and no because of the things i did and did not live there are many reasons why it s
yes because i am a cool loyal person, i been on adventures and trips throughout my
life. I am a hardworking boy i will work hard on a job for some money. Even though i
need me a job right now because i love making money more then anything. I also

It is the minimum return a company needs to earn in order to satisfy its investor base
(as weighted for the amount of debt vs. equity in the target/capital structure), which is
what the company must pay investors to raise new financing to support new projects
or ventures. WACC is particularly useful here because Yeats has no debt, thus, it is an
equity financed company. In the case of Yeats, the company must have capital to
continue to develop and market its new Widening Gyre Program.
The formula for WACC = Re (E/V) + Rd (D/V)(1 t)
However, because Yeats does not have debt, the second half of this formula, Rd(D
/V)(1 t) is not necessary. Being that Yeats has zero debt, the value of its equity is in
full, which represents its Enterprise Value. Tax (t) is determined in the case as 40%
or .40 (p. 5).
We must then calculate the CAPM for the cost of equity (see Excel sheet for details):
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = Required Return on Equity
Rf = Risk Free Rate = 5.98 (p. 16)
Beta = Measure of Risk relative to the general market (volatility) = 1.5 (p. 5)
Rm Rf = Equity Market Risk Premium (EMRP) = 5.5 (p. 16)
Rm = Market Risk
Rf = Risk Free Assets (U.S. treasury security)
With Beta at 1, the stock price changes in precise tandem with the market, but with
Yeat s beta at 1.5, it is more risky than a group of peer stocks.
Thus,
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = 5.98 + 1.5 x 5.5
Re = 14.23%, the cost of equity at for Yeats
Then calculate
WACC = Re

Themes In The Maze Runner
The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner
pentalogy. The story follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named
Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade .
As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying Thomas. The aim is to
escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due to the
fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED
(World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of
the labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls
prevent the boys from being attacked by creatures called grievers, who walk around
the labyrinth every night. (Dashner,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, this can been seen in the banishment of glader Ben, who attacks
Thomas for no valid reason, in both the book and the film. Even the ritual ceremony
of the banishment is kept close to the original story. Another big similarity is the
retaining of the main themes. Although some considerably large changes are made
throughout the process of adapting the book into a film, they still found a way to
retain the main themes. There is no denying that, this is a wonderful accomplishment
of the director Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, 2014).
To conclude, the book and the film have both similarities and differences. The
thought processes of the protagonist are not portrayed in the film and the time span is
reduced. Given these facts the reader of the book becomes more immersed in the
story, than the viewers of the film. Another factor is the changeof character traits of
most peripheral characters. This has thoroughly altered the story, furthermore, it
affects the connection viewers have with the characters and the story. Thus, this
causes the film to be less vivacious than the
The Theme Of Existentialism In The Brother s Karamazov
The Brother s Karamazov describes the life of a man, named Fyodor Karamazov,
and his four sons. Each son represents a certain worldview which is explored
throughout the novel. The oldest son, Dmitri, after arguing with his father over his
inheritance, falls in love with a woman named Grushenka. When Fyodor is murdered,
and three thousand roubles are stolen from him, the police accuse Dmitri because of
his conflict with Fyodor. The Brothers Karamazovdescribes how three men with
contrasting world views discover the corruption of their family and the truth behind a
hideous murder.
Existentialism is one worldview which is displayed in The Brother s Karamazov.

SГёren Kierkegaard is considered the father of existentialism ( Christian and
Theological Existentialism ). Kierkegaard wrote a book about the paradox
surrounding Abraham sacrificing Isaac. The narrator questions whether Abraham s
faith in God can justify killing his son (SГёren Kierkegaard: A Master of
Refraction 78). Another existentialist, Karl Jaspers, argues that, free will makes all
faith essentially existential. Jaspers also argues that, since life is absurd, it is less
absurd to believe in a God which promises eternal life than to believe in nothing at all
( Christian and Theological Existentialism ).
Dostoyevsky uses two contrasting chapters to argue against atheistic existentialism.
The Grand Inquisitor is a story written by Ivan Karamazov. In the story, Jesus visits
the Spanish Inquisition, but the religious leaders do not want Him there. They claim
that they already have freedom, and that His return will take the freedom away. The
chapter reveals Ivan s belief that the church is just a cult which thrives off of the
weak, and it explains how incredibly boring a sinless world would
St Lawrence Boulevard History
The St. Lawrence boulevard is one of Canada s most known and talked about roads.
In the collective imagination, it has long been the street that separates Montreal in
half, which is quite understandable since the St. Lawrence boulevard is the backbone
of the great French speaking city , it is the matrix of Montreal. A tourist who would
only have a few hours to get acquainted with the city should not go elsewhere, since
the whole city seems to be born from this particular avenue .
The St. Lawrence boulevard is full of history. Before becoming the large and
impressive street it is nowadays, this boulevard was the only path upon which
travelers could get in and out of Montreal. In fact, this unique street served as a
pathway to link the North and the South shore of the island, and consequently, it
was a vital contributor to the development of Montreal . Any cargo or people
coming from Europe would enter the port and from there, take the St. Lawrence road
in order to reach their new settlement. In 1717, the French colony built defensive
walls around what we now call the Vieux MontrГ©al . These walls only had one ...

Lawrence Street . On October 3rd, 1905, the Saint Lambert street, the Saint Lambert
coast and the St. Lawrence Street were all merged into one, becoming the Saint
Lawrence Street that we know today, through a resolution made by Montreal s
municipal council . Finally, in 1914, the nuns of the Notre Dame congregation
authorized the city of Montreal to extend the boulevard Saint Laurent to the river .
They yielded part of the south of Notre Dame Street and authorized the demolition of
some buildings, such as the chapel Notre Dame de PitiГ©, among others. Since then,
the St. Lawrence boulevard crosses the entire width of the island of Montreal

Essay About My New Years
That New Years was the most rough, fun, exciting and painful New Years I have
experienced in my 14 years of life. The people who were present were Lorrissa, her
older sister Leena, Megan E. , Jadynn and of course me. We were spending that
New Year s at Lorrissas hoping for a fun night. That night was mostly fun but at
times it was... dramatic to say the least. I arrived after Jadynn but before Megan, we
decided we would wait until Megan got here to start doing the interesting things.
When Megan did get there we got on our snow gear and tied a light green long sledto

except for Lorrissas laugh that would come up after maybe 2 minutes of silence.
When we woke up Megan left around eight in the morning and Jadynn came back
and we went out for more sledding. The worst part was when it was just Leena and I,
we were on the side of the road and there was a mailbox coming up. I did not hear
Lorrissa holler back at Leena and I to duck down, but Leena did. I ended up smashing
the back of my head into the mailbox, I was in too much of a shock to cry. I had

After that we went inside and Lorrissa retrieved a bag of frozen peas to aid the
aching of the back of my head. Later Jadynn got picked up while Harlyn, Leena,

hour and headed back to Lorrissas. I was later picked up by my dad and brought back

much smaller than the United State, compare with the number of stores, there are

Then we view the sculptures of the Boar and Hunting Dogs which were originally
in the garden of a home in a city in the Bay of Naples. We also view the large fresco

Pompeii. The Garden Scene displays the beauty of nature with the various plants

welcomed to the indoors of the Bay of Naples homes. The presentations of glass

beauty of glass blowing with the exquisite colors and movements of lines. At the
end of this room we are taken to The Moregine Triclinium which is a beautiful room

Finally, looking at Leemore S. Dafny (2005) empirical examination of the effect
rival hospital mergers have on a firm s own price. Dafny broke this experiment up
into three distinct phases: 1985 1988 pre period , 1988 1997 treatment period ,
and 1997 2000 post period to show the relationship between price growth and rival
co location. Dafny notes that previous observational studies on the impact of
mergers have ignored selection problems and reported biased estimates. Specifically,
factors that are correlated with the outcome measure as well as with the probability
of merger will generate biased estimates of the impact of merger (Dafny 2005, 2). To
generate unbiased estimates Dafny uses a combination of rival analysis and... Show

This sector is selected because, the assumption of co location being uncorrelated
with factors related to price growth in the hospitals area would be violated if
hospitals prior to 1988 moved to an area because they expected prices to increase
during 1988 1996. Since the acute care hospital industry has not experience many
entries since the Hospital Survey and Construction Act of 1946, and less than one
percent of hospitals had rivals exit during the study period, the author concludes the
assumption holds. The dataset is constructed using panel data and then separated into
two samples: All Hospitals and Rival Sample.
All Hospitals, is comprised of 4,487 hospitals with data for all independent
variables, more than 100,000 residents in its counties or metropolitan area, are non
federal, and present in the 1988 American Hospital Association Survey. Rival
Sample, contains only non merging hospitals from the All Hospitals sample with
two or more rivals within 7 miles during 1988. The reasoning behind two or more
rivals is that if non merging hospital has less than two rivals then it cannot
experience a rival merger. While the rationale for 7 miles is due to this small area
when adjacent hospitals merge, it is reasonable to expect an effect on the prices of
rivals. The Rival Sample is then broken down into two subdivisions: 118 hospitals
with merging rivals (NMW) and 759 hospitals without merging rivals (NMWO). The
need for the distinction between NMWs and NMWOs is because

Newfoundland and Labrador Budget Decision: Implications on the Determinants of
Health In April 2016, the Newfoundland and Labrador government announced a
provincial budget, an economic plan that proposed to allow Newfoundland and
Labrador to regain control of government finances (Government of Newfoundland

specific budget decision has on the determinants of health of the residents of

The elimination of twenty four hour snow clearing services on the Trans Canada
Highway impacts the determinants of health of Newfoundland and Labrador
residents. For the purposes of this paper, the impact that the elimination of twenty
four hour snow clearing services has on the community of Little Rapids will be
discussed. Little Rapids is located just off the Trans Canada Highway, approximately
23.2 kilometres from Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook(Google
Maps, 2017). Three specific determinants of health that are affected because of this
budget cut include: the physical environment, access to health services, and income
and social status. According to the World Health Organization (2017), the physical
environment is a determinant of health; it includes safe water and fresh air, healthy
workplaces, safe accommodations, neighbourhoods, and roads. The removal of
twenty four hour snow clearing services can result in dangerous road conditions
during the late night and early morning hours (Government of Newfoundland and
Labrador, 2010). According to Petten (as cited in MacLean, 2016), many people
take part in activities after 9:30 P.M. and will have to travel over unplowed, snow
covered highways risking an accident and their lives. Newfoundland and Labrador
Comparing Socrates And Li Po-Tu Fu
Essay Test 3 Socrates and Li Po Tu Fu
Question One: Fully explain who Crito is, what he wants Socrates to do, and (most
importantly) why Socrates refuses to act as Crito wants. Your main goal is to
examine how Crito s proposal goes against Socrates s teaching that the unexamined
life is not worth living.
Crito was a long time trusted friend of Socrates; an Athenian man who was highly
devoted to his ethical teachings. He spent the last day of Socrates s life beside him in
the prison, attempting to persuade him to free himself despite the lawful punishment
being inflicted upon him. Crito passionately exhorts Socrates, although his pleas are
purely emotional ad not well founded in rational thought or reason. Crito uses

It was Li Po that had failed, but gained a admittance into the Han Lin academy
through the direct recommendation of the emperor himself; although this was
unusual, it was not unheard of as the emperor would place those who found his favor
in the academy. Tu Fu set his aim on a similar goal; after another failed attempt at the
imperial examination, he began to petition the officials, and was appointed to the
registrar of the right commandant s office. He had passed into a highly respectable
position without even attending the academy, and twice failing mandatory exams.
Although Tu Fu was appointed to the registrar, the rise of the An Lushan rebellion
disrupted his occupancy in the institution, as well as the social atmosphere in China.
He eventually resumed official position eight years later. These two instances are
somewhat unique, as both of these men essentially snuck into these positions through
the back door. Neither of them were able to successfully accomplish the official
entrance exam, but they were relentless in their pursuit of the position. Somehow, the
emperor found favor in Li Po, and the registrar found favor in the effort of
Professional Athletes who Cheat in Sports Essay
Professional athletes are role models to the American children across the Nation.
Professional athletes must follow ethical standards to play fairly in their sport. This
means that players must compete without the assistance of performance enhancing
drugs such as steroids (Tynes, 2006). Yet, professional athletes choose to cheat by
taking illegal substances, which results in the death of some players and a wide
variety of health problems. The Federal Government realized that the use of
anabolic steroids is a form of cheating and defrauds the players and fans of real
competition. As a result, for the concern of the athletes health and concern for the
ethical standards of the game played, the Anabolic Steroid Act of 1990 (ASCA) was...

Historical Revisionism In Film By Vertov
Vertov s use of montage has several important implications for the film, including
how it revises the history of Lenin, Stalin s rise to power, and particularly life in the
non Russian Soviet republics. Historical revisionism in Three Songs of Lenin should
not only be attributed to Stalinism, but also to Vertov s use of montage. Unlike
Vertov s depiction of Soviet life in The Man with a Movie Camera, which requires a
somewhat sophisticated analysis of documentary film to properly understand the film
as historical in nature, the historical revisionism in Three Songs of Lenin is far more
readily apparent. The first song, quite short in length, likens the darkness of the
Muslim woman s veil to the darkness of ignorance, and contends that Lenin... Show

The fictionalization of events, whether they were real events or entirely fabricated,
was an inherent if not articulated component of both Eisenstein and Vertov s theories
of montage. The desire to find a socialist art form capable of expressing the truth
according to socialism led both directors to express truth only from an ideological
point of view. They not only inaccurately displayed historical events, but also
assigned to them false emotions, ideological conclusions and outcomes. Whether it
was the implied mass involvement in the Russian Revolution in October, the
industrialization in The Man with a Movie Camera, the fictionalized relationship
between Ivan and his subjects in Ivan the Terrible, or the deification of Lenin and the
transference of immortality to Stalin in Three Songs of Lenin, the creation of
meaning through montage necessarily led to the creation of false history as
Persuasive Essay On Site Composts
I believe that there should be composting because it will help out the environment
and will save lots of money. Uneaten foods should not just go to waste and go in the
trash, it should be recycled and used as soil and fertilizer. Schools with space on
their campus can consider onsite composting in addition to or instead ofВ sending
food scraps off site. Most schools send a lot of food offsite or just put it to waste
which they really dont want to do. There are benefits and drawbacks to on site
composting. The benefits are clear: Students see what is happening to their food

experiments. Students also reap what they sow. At the end of the year there is a

Hamlet Essay Analysis
Shakespeare s Hamlet is infamous for its critical theme of revenge. However, the
constant conflict between action vs inaction insinuates a deeper concern. For starters,
Prince Hamlet frequently creates excuses to delay his father s revenge. He is always
thinking of the consequences that may result if he proceeds with his treason instead
of avenging his father. On the contrary, Laertes is quick to avenge his father, never
letting honour get in the way of his vengeance. Just as he hears the news of his
father s death, he is quick to raid Elsinore in search of his ... Show more content on

Furthermore, to prove the ghost is genuine, Hamlet decides that [a] play s the
thing wherein [he ll] catch the conscience of the king, for his treason. If the King
is to face his own crime in the form of a play, then he will show remorse for his evil
deed, proving that the ghost is genuine and Hamlet can confidently avenge his
father. Once again, instead of murdering the King immediately after confirmation,
Hamlet remained in the theatre discussing and reciting poems of what he had just
witnessed with others, evidently restraining from his father s revenge. In addition
to this, Hamlet sees that the King is alone in his room and states he is praying, yet
he does not murder the King quite as yet. Hamlet decides not to kill the King
whilst he is praying because Claudius did not give Lord Hamlet the chance to
cleanse himself of his sins before he died. As a result, Hamlet does not want to send
an incest breeding man to heaven whilst his glorious father is suffering in purgatory.
This reveals that Hamlet is a very critical thinker; always thinking of the
consequences before he acts. Instead of ridding himself of the burden as a livid
mourner would have done, he decides to live with

The Theory Of Knowledge Management Models
In order for public and private organizations to exploit and manage knowledge in their
daily processes and integrate knowledge management in their strategic planning, the
managers of the organizations must know the actual meaning of knowledge. Right
now, the three knowledge management models being used in organizations are
Nonaka and Takeuci s (knowledgespiral), Firestone and McElroy s (knowledge life
cycle) snowden s (Cynefin Model) (Heaidari, Khanifar Moghimi, 2011).
The first two models are based on justified true premise and Popperian framework
respectively, which are assumptions (Jamaluddin Khalifa, 2012). None of the three
models is capable of providing a real world scenario for knowledge process
illustration with a good explanation of how it works (Milovanović, 2011). If
organizations continue using the current knowledge management models they will
only describe how knowledge process works but it will not be easy to evaluate the
models or even determine their usefulness in both private and public organizations. I
propose to fill this gap by developing a better end to end model for better knowledge
management process (Jamaluddin Khalifa, 2012).
Background of the Problem
After observing most organizations I have realized how their planning is similar to a
ritual rain dance; the dance has no impact on succeeding weather, but the dancers
belief it does. It appears to me that the instructions followed in strategic planning in
most organizations are aimed at
Personal Narrative Rebelling
Rebelling and its outcome On august 24, 2003 I suffered a near death experience
that changed my life. It was a bright sunny day and my older brother was playing
outside with his friends. Since, I could not play with my sister because she was
small I would always follow my brother. My brother always played with older
friends and they would get into trouble a lot. Growing up around by guys I always
played like they did. If they would jump so would I. Being a girl made some
differences because they didn t want to play with me, they would underestimate me
my ability, and would avoid playing with me.

Obesity Epidemic Of The United States Essay
Recent Obesity Outbreak in America Obesity has rapidly emerged as a serious
health issue in America. The cause of obesity results from America s social
injustices. Today, food advertisements are in all places promoting an unhealthy
lifestyle. Considering the great expense of healthy foods, low income families can
barely afford fruits and vegetables. These two factors contribute to the increasing
obesity rate in the United States. Unfortunately, it has taken an excessive amount
of Americans to become obese for America to become aware of the issue and take
action. Although obesity is still an increasing problem, America is fighting to
reduce the number of obese citizens. As a result of low income and the media
advertising unhealthy lifestyles, America is in the midst of an obesity epidemic.
Obesity, the condition of being severely overweight, is a serious issue in the United
States that is gradually beginning to affect more and more citizens. In recent years,
the number of Americans suffering from this chronic disease has significantly
increased. Researchers have found that nearly one third of the U.S. population is
considered overweight and, on average, three hundred thousand individuals die
yearly as a result of obesity (Hollands et al. 2). When one participates in little to no
physical activity and their diet consists mostly of high fat foods, chances are they
will gain weight. If someone becomes obese, they may develop serious health related
issues that, in some cases,
Strategic Issues the Association Should Address Essay
TO:APSA Council
RE:Council Discussion Topic: Organized Sections
This overview is designed to help launch a Council small group discussion about
journals, and about strategic issues the Association may wish to address. The memo
notes salient issues the Association is or will soon face. The themes included here
are surely not complete and the goal is for a discussion that helps ferret out or
sharpen heretofore unarticulated issues as well as the ones we see now.
I.Introduction
APSA Organized Sections have been a mainstay of the Associationsince first formed
in the early 1980 s. There has not been a comprehensive review of Sections and the
ways in which the prominence of Sections has shaped the Association since then, ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This increases the total cost of APSA membership commensurately, especially
consequential if a member seeks to join multiple sections. We worry this may
discourage multiple section membership, diminish opportunity for cross fertilization
among fields; and create sticker shock for APSA membership in general.
At the same time, there may be potential value for the Association of being aligned
with a bundle of journal content organized across topical areas a kind of journal based
analogue to the annual meeting division structure.
As a specific matter, APSA has the opportunity help the State Politics and Policy
Organized Section purchase its journal from the university press that now owns it, by
lending the Section money with payback revenues over 10 years. Assuming the
business deal made sense, would such a step make sense from the standpoint of an
Association wide journals policy.
APSA might seek to bring Section journals more under the Association umbrella itself
and applying journal guidelines, unbundling subscriptions from Section membership
(while leaving editorial control with the Sections.)
C.Governance and Liabilities
APSA s Organized Sections operate under the Association s Tax ID number, and
legally are elements of APSA as a corporation. A few APSA sections engage in
outside activities such as separate conferences. Generally, these are handled entirely
by section members
Dialectical Or Non-Aristotelian Theatre Analysis
Theatre is a vast and culturally expansive art form that has continued to be relevant
for millennia, and its longevity is discussed in philosophical, theoretical, and
sociological circles everywhere. Though it can take many different forms, the
contemporary notion of a theatrical performance holds only two requirements; there
needs to be actors playing out a scenario, and there needs to be an audience that can
watch this event unfold. Theatreis an ephemeral art form, as its very nature requires
that something happen at a given time, in a given place, and around people who can
see it. The relationship between the actorand the spectator has evolved throughout the
course of theatre history; however, there have been stretches of time in which... Show

In his Epic, Dialectical, or Non Aristotelian Theatre, Brecht does not transform the
spatial relationship between actor and spectator, but he does attempt to transform the
effect his theatre has on its audience. Writing in 1968, W. A. J. Steer describes the
role Verfremdungseffekt in Brecht s theatre before he states,
Brecht also attributes a negative, destructive function to the alienation effect that of
thwarting the illusionism of the stage, of inhibiting the audience s traditional
propensity to EinfГјhlung or emotional identification with the dramatic characters
and situation (639).
In other words, Brechtian techniques attempt to dissuade the audience from having an
emotional connection to the action that happens on the stage. Instead, they force the
audience to think critically about the sociological implications of the events that are
happening, through making them aware of the fact that they are only experiencing a
simulation of reality. Writing in 1952, John Gassner reinforces this point when he
states, ...he broke with representational fourth wall theatre, with purely affective
drama, and with the means, including unity of mood, by which playwriting and stage
art draw the spectator into a closed magical circle of experience and induce a hypnosis

Things They Carried Essay Anything can change a person if they are not ready for
that change. The short story Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong, in Things They
Carried, by Tim O Brien represents this by showing change in Mary Anne, who is a
character the reader probably would not expect to see in a book about the Vietnam
War. There are many parts show the change in her from the average high school girl
she used to be into a predatory killer, but there is only one reason for her change, and
that is the war itself. The changes Mary Anne goes through in this story stand out
very clear. In the beginning, the quote that introduces Mary Anne is, ...she was

You can t feel like that anywhere else (O Brien 111). Mary Anne is inevitably
drawn to the other side the other side in this case being the Vietnam War itself. She
is not completely part of it yet but she sure is fascinated by it, and will be part of it
soon. She displays the danger of throwing away all separation between herself and
the war. She is at the point where she wants to become one with the war. However
towards the end of the story, Mary Ann becomes a completely different person.
This can be shown perfectly in the quote, She had crossed to the other side. She
was part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her pink sweater, and a necklace
of human tongues. She was dangerous. She was ready for the kill (O Brien 116).
Going back to the Vietnam War and its effect on Mary Anne. At this point, it can
be seen that Mary Anne has completely crossed over. She has a necklace of human
tongues, which is crazy weird. However, Mary Anne is still wearing her culottes
and her pink sweater, the very pieces of clothing that made her appear so American
at the beginning of the story. The reason for Mary Anne s change is not because of
the Vietnamese or even Vietnam, even though it appeared to be at the beginning. It s
the war itself. The war is half Vietnamese and half American. A example that shows
Mary Anne going through her change is in the quote, Mary Anne made you think
about those girls back home, how clean and innocent they all are, how they ll never

Homelessness Is An Arising Problem Within The United

Homelessness in America

Homelessness is an arising problem within the United States. Poverty and
homelessness are inheritably linked. As children we were raised to believe that
through hard work and determination that we could accomplish anything. We all
had dreams of having nice cars, a nice home and lots of money, however this is
impossible when a person is living pay check to pay check and close to being
homeless. Knowing that we live in the land of opportunity brings many dreams to
anyone s mind, however, many families are experiencing financial issues that are
causing them to become homeless because they cannot afford to live and pay their
bills, food, child care, health care and education (National Coalition of the homeless,

problem that incorporates many economic, social and psychological dimensions
(National Coalition of the homeless, 2007). With the shortage of affordable rental
property is causing the increasing number of poverty families. Homelessness doesn t
only affect an adult but it does affect many children. In America, 3.5 million
Americans are homeless each year. However, of these Americans that are homeless
children make up more than 1 million people who are homeless (Home Aid America ,

Repetition and Irony in Charles
Charles by Shirley Jackson tells the story of a mother of a young boy named Laurie
who goes to kindergarten and starts acting rudely. Laurie comes home from school
talking about this naughty child named Charles. After multiple mentions of the boy
named Charles, Laurie s mother goes to the PTA meeting looking for Charles mother.
Laurie s mom finds herself in a discussion with Laurie s kindergarten teacher and the
teacher tells Laurie s mom that there is not a Charles in Kindergarten. After hearing
this, Laurie s mother learns that her son is Charles. Using repetition and irony, the
author creates the theme that love can be blinding when searching for the truth.

Examples Of Realism In The Prince By Machiavelli
Realism Machiavelli is a great example of a realist. In his book The Prince he
describes people as ungrateful, fickle and deceitful, eager to avoid dangers, and
avid for gain, and while you are useful to them they are all with you, offering you
their blood, their property, and their sons so long as danger is remote, but when it
approaches they turn on you . This quote perfectly sums up the realist view on the
world; except that instead of people, they view the states as the essential actor. When
we talk about realism, they consider states as a rational actor. Realists are concerned
with their self interest colliding with another country s interest. Realist s concern is
war and security. They strive to survive and they see that their way... Show more

Basically nothing is fixed and it is capable of change due to social structure.
Realism s core concerns are power and security while liberalism focuses on peace
and prosperity. Constructivism argues on social structures shaping behavior and
building up towards an actor s identity and interests. Constructivists view the social
structure that both consists of the actors and their interaction. Realism and liberalism
view interests and identities as givens but constructivism sees these concepts are the
central concern. For example when it comes to conflict, actors may change their
nature of interaction. Some states may have a history of rivalry can change and be
peaceful or they can go back to being rivals. Nothing is fixed, everything is
determined through social interaction that is constantly changing. For example, the
European Union. It is made up of states that fought against one another in World War
I and World War II but are now close allies. Another example is the United Statesand
Russia; the United States and Russia were allies throughout the war but then were on
the brink of another war with the cold
Global Warming Should Be The Paramount Struggle Of
Our Time
It is often said that humans are the largest threat to Earth, but not because of
violence between one another. Humans are the largest threat to Earth because we
as a species pollute the air, land, and water of the very planet we call home.
Without Earth all life as we know it will cease to exist. Global warming is the
product of the pollutants created by mankind. If mankind as a whole does not
change its ways we will ruin our one and only planet that is suitable to sustain life. In

researching this topic I used multiple resources to better understand what Nicholas
Kristof is explaining in his article. I first looked at a government run website that
helped explain global warming and how it is affecting us today. Then I looked at
news articles from different news organizations. Lastly I watched a video that
explained why we can no longer ignore global warming. All of those resources
helped me better understand my research topic and I feel that I have gained more
knowledge about global warming. Warm, Warmer, Warmest is an article written by

Palahniuk s Fight Club
In the consumer driven society of corporate America, Chuck introduces an nameless
narrator who is detached from the world and looking for changes. The narrator who
is driven mad by his insomnia causes him to create an alternate personality that
rebels against modern society. In an effort to find peace in his daily life he
eventually develops Fight Club that substitutes for his lack of religion, as men brawl
one on one until someone taps out. Therefore the theme of breaking down oneself in
order to build themselves back up is seen often throughout the novel.PalahniukЕ›
unique writing style of using repetition along with time to create a plot twist
outcome, portrays the effects of mass media, and a capitalistic society on the regular
human mind. With the use of slightly changing repetition as the novel progresses,
Palahniuk brings attention to seemingly normal objects throughout the novel. In the
theme of corporate consumer based society, everything is an copy of a copy of a
copy, (Halnon) and Palahniuk introduces the idea that everyone obsesses over
materialistic items rather than having differences in life. To relieve of the stress felt

AcuScan Critical Case Study
To: Cliff O Connor В– CEO
From: Pete xxxxx В– V.P. of Organizational Development
As the new Vice President of Organizational Development, I look forward to the
upcoming challenges concerning developing the Organizational Development
department. I anticipate exciting times ahead as we pursue a new course with the
development of a new product based on our current retinal scanning technology.
It is apparent from the recent Scanner s Weekly and a Memo I received, that this
company is at a crossroads concerning its future in the retinal scanning security
business. Per your request, I have solicited information from all parties involved to
make an informed consensus as to what is really going on.

4.Assumed staff would work together amidst the challenges for the good of the
company.
Arguments:
Cliff O Connor: Argument made by Cliff that a new product would recapture our
position as a market leader with our technology. Cliff further argues that Pat s
creativity is what AcuScan needs right now. Sees Operation Optimize as not very
different from the iScanner product and believes all managers realize the need for a
new product to expand revenues. Pat Lambert: Argues that iScanner should be
modified and launched in a new, non vertical market, only solution for long term
growth in revenue. Pat argues that Kelly initially stated it is simple to build on
existing applications. Finally, Pat also argues for additional money, for an outside
contractor to complete the product on time. Kelly Thomas: Kelly argued that new
product was more complicated to develop than the other managers could
comprehend. Kelly believes company is rushing to develop new product, at the
expense of quality; thus possibly damaging his teams and company s reputation.
Chris Martinas: Arguments were the company must expand into other vertical
markets. He also believed they needed to act quickly or risk losing any advantage in
the new market. Lastly, agrees with Pat that new product will save the company.
Analysis of Arguments: Cliff s argument for an additional means of revenue is logical
but his approach, developing a new product when the
The Persian Invasion Of Greece
Introduction Through the manuscripts of Herodotus, an ancient historian who
hailed from the mountainous lands of Greece, modern day historians have been
granted the ability to piece together the multitude of events that supposedly
transpired during the years 480 and 479 BC between the Persian empire and the
city states of the classical Greece (Herodotus). The second Persian invasion of
Greece, which took place in the previously mentioned years, was a part of the
many series of battles and encounters that made up the Greco Persian Wars. This
invasion in particular, however, probably saw one of the most distinguished
battles in ancient European warfare befall. As a whole, the second Persian invasion
of Greece consisted of several battles that transpired within a close proximity of
one another chronologically. The war itself was fairly short lived, even for its
time, lasting only the course of approximately one year. The battles themselves
took place in Thermopylae, Artemisium, Salamis, Platae, and Mycale (Setzer). The
Persian invasion forces were led by King Xerxes I of Persia, the son of Darius I of
Persia. Prior to the reign of Xerxes I, King Darius I had wanted to take control of
ancient Greece. As such, he ordered two campaigns which made up the first Persian
invasion of Greece. Much to his hindrance, however, Darius I breathed his last
breath before he was presented with the opportunity to carry out a second invasion.
King Xerxes I, who was the successor of Darius I,
The Anniversary Of World War II
Throughout World War II, many atrocities and acts of inhumane treatment was felt
throughout East Asia. Nations like China and Korea had felt the bitter sting of
Imperial Japanese rule on many occasions throughout the war. Ranging from forced
labor, massacres, and attempts to systematically wipe out national identities. The
article (Upcoming Abe speeches seen as rehearsal for WWII anniversary statement,
The Japan Times) talked of a possible outcome of how Prime Minister Abe
presented his speeches for the 70th anniversary of World War II. It further elaborated
on how modern day China and Koreawere still waiting for a proper apology from
Abe s government for its past wartime transgressions. Even in the modern era, the
dramatic events of World War II have had detrimental effects on East Asian
diplomatic relations, ideals of governance and outlook on western society to this very
day.
When Japan had Korea under colonial rule, many of its citizens were forced to work
in harsh conditions in efforts to mine gold. A lot of this back breaking work in the
mines was not completed with typical machinery. The majority of the work was
accomplished through the use of pickaxes and vast amounts of manual labor. People
who participated in the mining operations were not volunteers. Although the Korean
workers were paid, the amount was not the same as their Japanese counterparts who
oversaw the mining. Any materials that were dug up were used to fuel the factories
created within Korea. This
The Power Of Poetry
Poetry s powerful impact is incumbent upon its capacity to communicate a message
and inspire its audience to react. The power of poetry consists of three vital points:
content, impact, and relevance. Poetry is powerful; however, not every reader will
find its power in the same way, or find power in it at all. It is not that one type of
poem is inherently more powerful than another. What it is, however, is that the value
of poetrycomes from a subjective place. Some poems may sit well with one audience
but may not connect to another audience. Readers are the ones who determine
exactly which pieces of poetry are powerful. When you combine radical feminism
with amazing literary skills you obtain the astonishing powers of Adrienne Rich, a...

Although poetry may seem timeless it does not necessarily mean that this is true.
Some say that history repeats itself, however we can see this only happen to an
extent. The subject s of Shakespeare s works may not apply to most people today.
However the relevance a poem is determined by the reader themselves and their
personal experiences or those they have seen others partake in. Audre Lorde is one of
the most influential black female poets of her generation empowering people through
her words to take action on the issues that matter most to them. She began writing in
her early teens and her range of work expands from homophobia, sexism, and
social injustice. I find her work Power to be one of the most influential pieces of
writing that our class has discussed. Power is short poem about a social injustice
among the African American community. The poem, although may not be relatable
to every reader s experience, has such strong imagery that it is able to impact
everyone in some way. Lorde depicts, I am trapped on a desert of raw gunshot
wounds and a dead child dragging his shattered black face off the edge of my sleep
blood from his punctured cheeks and shoulders After reading this short stanza the
audience is placed in the narrator s shoes. Furthermore, this allows the reader to
further identify with the context and content of the
Neapolitan Ice Cream Persuasive Speech
In a society full of whining, complaining, self victimizing snowflakes, people can
get pretty agitating, right? All of these folks come out of nowhere with these
ridiculous claims. These new age principles are always challenging the way we ve
done things, and I mean, if it ain t broke, don t fix it? Like, what more do these
people want? When does it stop? We truly do live in a world where no one is
satisfied. You do one thing, you re screwed. You do another thing, your still
screwed. If you implement something that doesn t 100% cater to the desires of

Case Study Of Parsley
2. Parsley
2.1. Reasons for choosing parsley
On considering various options of herb to be grown in our garden, we were all
impressed with parsley s versatility, with its application found in cooking, in medical
treatment/ disease prevention and even in beautification. Regarding its culinary use,
while more commonly known, and used, for decorative garnishing, parsley in the
chopped form can also enhance the flavor and taste of dishes, either through
combination with main ingredients or through the marinating process, according to
George Mateljan Foundation (n.d.). Furthermore, results from previous studies have
pointed out that parsley leaves make abundant source of vitamins and minerals,
including some vital ones such as vitamins B and C, iron, calcium and carotene.
(Mulugeta, Unnithan, Tesfay, 2015). As suggested by Manderfeld et al. (1997),
benefits of this herb to our health also include its role as a blood regulator, which to
some extent helps control problems such as backache and nose bleeding. For those
reasons, we believe that parsley from our garden will not only contribute to more ...

Answer to this tough question is likely to be found in pot plantation method. Parsley
will continue growing indoors with the support of nutrients and water from soil in the
pot (Nardozzi, n.d.). However, since sun light remains an indispensable element for
this plant s growth, pots should be placed near the glass windows of cafeteria, which
faces the multipurpose hall. In this way, continuous, stable and adequate supply of
sunlight at this position shall ensure the plants survival through winter. An important
note at this point, though, is that preparation to transfer parsley from the field to
inside should leave ample time for the plant to adapt to its new home. Particularly,
Nardozzi remarks that digging up should be 2 or 3 months before winter and
bringing the plants inside should be before the first
Letter of Interest for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
Dear Ladies of the Gamma Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Incorporated: I am seeking membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Incorporated because I want to grow and contribute my time and talent to an
illustrious, originating organization. I aspire to be a part of a sisterhood where I
can express myself, and have my skills nourished by prospering African American
women. This summer I was involved in a traumatic car accident and survived,
tragically two of my dearest friends did not. On the car third spin I squeezed my
eyes shut, and braced myself for a collision. Suddenly, the car jolted forward and
flipped. At that very moment I realized that I am here for a greater purpose, and
vowed to take the necessary steps to fulfill that purpose. God is not finished with
me yet, and I do not want to sit on my Lord. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority,
Incorporated purpose is to be of service to all mankind dealing with critical issues
in communities domestically and internationally. What I have grown to understand
an envision a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated to be, I accredit
largely to the ladies of the Gamma Theta chapter. This has the result of attending
many of the chapter s events during my time at Hampton thus far. One of my
favorite events was a screening of a documentary Girls Rising. I learned to
appreciate every opportunity to learn and gain knowledge because in some parts of
the world girls are restricted from receiving an education. A
Communication And Its Effects On Employees s
Perceptions...
Introduction
Communication and its effects on employee s perceptions towards organizational
changes have been extensively studied. Communication, if poorly managed, can lead
to negative consequences including employee s frustration, uncertainty, change
contempt (Frahm Brown (2007), Bordia, Hunt, Paulsen (2004)), psychological strain,
low job satisfaction, and increase in turnover intention (Bordia, Hunt, Paulsen
(2004)). If effectively managed, communication can result in multiple positive effects
such as employee s positive perception towards change process, change acceptance
(Frahm Brown (2007)), perception of justice within the organization (Nese (2014)),
and change based momentum (Jansen (2004)). In this paper, I would like to explore
how two communication approaches programmatic and participatory can be used to
improve employee s positive perceptions towards organizational changes. The paper
is divided into three sections. It starts with a summary of employee s perceptions
towards organizational changes. The effects of communication on employee s
perceptions towards organizational changes will follow. The last section is a
comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of programmatic and participatory
approaches through the analysis of empirical studies.
Employee s perception towards organizational changes
According to Bordia, Hunt Paulsen (2004), uncertainty is an individual s perceived
inability to predict something accurately . Employee s feeling of
Anger In The Miller s Tale
In The Miller s Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer, the drunk Miller tells the Host the story
of the young wife, Alison, who is caught cheating on her old husband, John, with
the artsy, astronomy student, Nicholas. As the story unfolds, the reader discovers
the obsessive way John watches over Alison that leads her to fall lovingly into the
arms of Nicholas. Throughout The Miller s Tale, the reader also learns about the
clerk Absalom s hopeless love for Alison and the ways she ignores him. The lines
at the end that state: Thus futtered was the carpenter s goodwife, For all his
watching and his jealously; And Absalom has kissed her nether eye And Nicholas
is branded on the butt. This tale is done, and God save all the rout! accurately depict
the happenings of the story as a whole (102). Each of these lines from The Miller s...

The lines at the end stating, And Absalom has kissed her nether eye tell of
Absalom s embarrassment when he was tricked into kissing Alison s butt.
Absalom was also embarrassed when Nicholas jokingly farted in his face.
However, he gets his revenge when he acts in rage and Nicholas is branded on the
butt. After Nicholas screams for water because of his new branding, John jumps
from his sleep and quickly cuts the rope holding him up in the trees. When swiftly
falling to the ground, the neighbors find him with a broken arm and claim him as
insane after he begins to ramble on about a flood like in Noah s time. The Miller s
Tale offers embarrassment for almost all of its characters. Alison is embarrassed when
caught in bed with Nicholas, but she forces embarrassment onto Absalom when she
tricks him into kissing her butt. Lastly, John suffers embarrassment when his
neighbors discover him babbling about a flood. Like the ending lines suggest,
embarrassment is rampant throughout The Miller s

Corporate Governance and Control in Japan
Corporate governance and control in Japan: can the barriers to foreign takeover
activity in Japan ever be removed? Japan s seeming impenetrability to foreign
takeovers, largely due to the prevailing corporate culture and governance that
allegedly hinders such takeovers, has defined business firms and companies in the
last decades (Lebrun, 2001; Gerlach, 1992; Maher and Wong, 1994; Seeman, 1986;
Seeman, 1987; Stern, 1998). Such barriers have gradually been buoyed down by the
worldwide economic recession of the recent times an indication that while these
barriers may not be totally lifted, the prospect of reducing it is optimistic (Itoh and
Vestring, 2001; Larimer, 1999; Seeman, 1986; Seeman, 1987; JETRO, 2002;).
Japanese inter corporate relationships are considered in terms of three different
structures of interaction: corporate groupings, financial centrality, and industrial
interdependency. Almost all decisions in Japanese business are group decisions,
which require virtually unanimous support from the members of the team making
the decision Foreign firms, which, to a great extent, need to acquire market shares in
Japan, the nation with the world s greatest trade surplus, find their way to major
acquisitions in Japan virtually blocked by Japanese customs. They face substantial
barriers to acquiring Japanese companies. With Japanese PERs approaching the 100
level, most foreigners will hardly find Japanese firms a bargain. Most of the mergers
and acquisitionsbusiness has

John Keats Essay.pdf

  • 1. John Keats Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "John Keats" can present several challenges, primarily due to the depth and complexity of the subject matter. Keats was a renowned Romantic poet whose works are rich in symbolism, imagery, and thematic intricacies, making it essential for the writer to possess a profound understanding of his life, poetry, and the historical context in which he lived. Crafting an insightful essay on John Keats requires meticulous research to grasp the nuances of his poetic style, influences, and philosophical beliefs. Moreover, analyzing his poems demands a keen eye for detail and an ability to decipher the layers of meaning embedded within his verses. One of the significant hurdles in writing such an essay is striking a balance between providing biographical information about Keats and delving into a critical analysis of his poetry. It's essential to contextualize his life experiences, including his struggles, relationships, and the socio- political environment of the Romantic era, while also exploring the thematic elements and literary techniques employed in his poems. Furthermore, interpreting Keats' works often involves grappling with abstract concepts such as beauty, mortality, nature, and the imagination, which can be intellectually demanding for the writer. Capturing the essence of Keats' poetic vision and articulating it coherently in an essay requires a profound appreciation for literature and a mastery of literary analysis. In conclusion, writing an essay on "John Keats" necessitates a blend of historical insight, literary acumen, and critical thinking skills. It's a task that demands dedication, thorough research, and a profound appreciation for the complexities of Keats' life and poetry. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. • 2. A Good Man Is Hard For Find By Flannery O Conner Essay Flannery O Conner grew up in the backwoods of Georgia, where she found her inspiration for her writing. Her Southern heritage was not the only thing that influenced her though; often her Roman Catholic faith would impact her stories as well (Ellis 35 36). She described herself as a Catholic peculiarly possessed of the modern consciousness (qtd. in Hubbard 38) and stated that the best of [her] work sounded like the old testament would sound if it were being written today (qtd. in Kreyling 85). As such, O Conner is known for her portrayal of religious themes throughout her writings. In A Good Man is Hard to Find, Flannery O Conner utilizes violence in order to develop the grandmother s character within the story, and by doing so, she is able to demonstrate the difference between having a moral code and being virtuous. For clarity, a person with a moral code by no means has to be virtuous, for a moral code is simply a set of rules or a code of conduct which governs how an individual should act within a community (Pam). By following a moral code, a character is not necessarily morally good. We see this clearly in the grandmother. From the very beginning, it is made clear that the grandmother s perception of right and wrong is rather superficial; that is to say, she bases both her code of conduct and her perception of being good off of the opinions of others. Making this abundantly clear in the very beginning of the story, O Conner writes a full paragraph to overly
  • 3. Are Footballers Paid Too Much Essay Are Footballers Really Paid Too Much? England international Wayne Rooney is paid ВЈ300,000 a week whereas doctors are paid the same amount each year. However, in my opinion footballers are paid the right amount because they provide entertainment for the public worldwide and help people who are less fortunate. Firstly, huge footballing fans pay thousands of pounds every season to see their favourite team play week in week out. They must be paying a huge amount of money every season because they want to be entertained or else they would watch the games from home. Instead they spend a lot of money and go to the stadium whether it is a capital one cup game or a league game. This is because the atmosphere at the stadium is a different experience in its self because all the spectators are singing chants and motivating the team to do well and score a goal. They pay a lot of money because they might want to see their favourite player. If your role model was visiting your town or city would you not pay to see them whether they are performing live at an arena or have just come for a meet and greet. This is the same for a footballing fan they pay to see their favourite player or role model. Also if you want to watch football at home you have to pay for Sky Sports ... After years of practice they are then scouted and go to a professional club for trials and if they are then good enough they will be given a short term contract. Becoming a footballer is not as easy as it looks in fact it is a very long and stressful process. Also footballers are on a very low wage at the start of their career and if they then progress and have a big money transfer they are then paid a higher

There are also other brands like CrГ©mants, Franciacorta and the Champagnes produced using the Champagne Method preferred in regard to cavas, because most people distinguish that the brands are of high quality. The worth difference between the CrГ©mants and the quality cavas can be attributed to brand recognition and professed quality picture. Opportunities: Cava, like most fresh wines, can be drunk at festivities like Christmas, New Year s Eve, at birthday s parties, anniversaries and during special moments. This is indicated by the fact that most sales are made in the last quarter of the year. Over 5$ million sales and about 900000 sales of bottles can be sold on a good year. Threats: Sometimes the company has to compete with intermediary market groups, since it does not face up to the magnificence wine brands or the popular, low priced brands. There is also competition from Europe more especially among the French and Italian businesses. Competition also comes from producers of cava and wines produced in other areas like Italy for instance Cal del Bosco. Some fresh wine consumers look for high quality product with custom and history, but not essentially looking for a high brand image. There is also the fear of collapsing due to confusion whether to continue producing cava or

We can all build a life that s worth living, we need to help and love each other not hate. We live in a real bad world of hate, killing, racism, kidnapping, bullying and many more horrible things. It s crazy what we go through and do in this world. If you asked me what makes life worth living, i would tell you what i think. It is the minimum return a company needs to earn in order to satisfy its investor base (as weighted for the amount of debt vs. equity in the target/capital structure), which is what the company must pay investors to raise new financing to support new projects or ventures. WACC is particularly useful here because Yeats has no debt, thus, it is an equity financed company. In the case of Yeats, the company must have capital to continue to develop and market its new Widening Gyre Program. The formula for WACC = Re (E/V) + Rd (D/V)(1 t) However, because Yeats does not have debt, the second half of this formula, Rd(D /V)(1 t) is not necessary. Being that Yeats has zero debt, the value of its equity is in full, which represents its Enterprise Value. Tax (t) is determined in the case as 40% or .40 (p. 5). We must then calculate the CAPM for the cost of equity (see Excel sheet for details): Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf) Re = Required Return on Equity Rf = Risk Free Rate = 5.98 (p. 16) Beta = Measure of Risk relative to the general market (volatility) = 1.5 (p. 5) Rm Rf = Equity Market Risk Premium (EMRP) = 5.5 (p. 16) Rm = Market Risk Rf = Risk Free Assets (U.S. treasury security) With Beta at 1, the stock price changes in precise tandem with the market, but with Yeat s beta at 1.5, it is more risky than a group of peer stocks. The story follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. For instance, this can been seen in the banishment of glader Ben, who attacks Thomas for no valid reason, in both the book and the film. Even the ritual ceremony of the banishment is kept close to the original story. Another big similarity is the retaining of the main themes. Although some considerably large changes are made throughout the process of adapting the book into a film, they still found a way to retain the main themes. There is no denying that, this is a wonderful accomplishment of the director Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, 2014). To conclude, the book and the film have both similarities and differences. The thought processes of the protagonist are not portrayed in the film and the time span is reduced. Given these facts the reader of the book becomes more immersed in the story, than the viewers of the film. Another factor is the changeof character traits of most peripheral characters. This has thoroughly altered the story, furthermore, it affects the connection viewers have with the characters and the story. Thus, this causes the film to be less vivacious than the

Another existentialist, Karl Jaspers, argues that, free will makes all faith essentially existential. Jaspers also argues that, since life is absurd, it is less absurd to believe in a God which promises eternal life than to believe in nothing at all ( Christian and Theological Existentialism ). Dostoyevsky uses two contrasting chapters to argue against atheistic existentialism. The Grand Inquisitor is a story written by Ivan Karamazov. In the story, Jesus visits the Spanish Inquisition, but the religious leaders do not want Him there. They claim that they already have freedom, and that His return will take the freedom away. The chapter reveals Ivan s belief that the church is just a cult which thrives off of the weak, and it explains how incredibly boring a sinless world would

The people who were present were Lorrissa, her older sister Leena, Megan E. , Jadynn and of course me. We were spending that New Year s at Lorrissas hoping for a fun night. That night was mostly fun but at times it was... dramatic to say the least. I arrived after Jadynn but before Megan, we decided we would wait until Megan got here to start doing the interesting things. When Megan did get there we got on our snow gear and tied a light green long sledto the black four wheeler. None of us talked after that we just laughed at the silence of the room, none of us could help it. Nothing was funny about the situation except for Lorrissas laugh that would come up after maybe 2 minutes of silence. When we woke up Megan left around eight in the morning and Jadynn came back and we went out for more sledding. The worst part was when it was just Leena and I, we were on the side of the road and there was a mailbox coming up. I did not hear Lorrissa holler back at Leena and I to duck down, but Leena did. I ended up smashing the back of my head into the mailbox, I was in too much of a shock to cry. I had known that I hit my head but I didn t really feel the discomfort of the strike. After that we went inside and Lorrissa retrieved a bag of frozen peas to aid the aching of the back of my head. Later Jadynn got picked up while Harlyn, Leena, Reana, Lorrissa and I headed to Xtreme Air. We bounced and trampled around for an hour and headed back to Lorrissas. I was later picked up by my dad and brought back home for the

The smaller size of land, the greater number of stores of Japan means that the density of stores in Japan is very high, therefore customer can assess to stores more easily. On the other hand, the low density of stores in United State may cause inconvenience to customers and deliver a few product everyday may using too much cost with the longer distance of each branch. The exhibition provided all sorts of objects; from sculptures, glass figures, painted art, and more. These art pieces specify the kind of life that was taking place in the Bay of Naples during the second century. As we know the cities around the Bay of Naples, which include Pompeiiand Herculaneum, became tourist attractions when the cities were excavated after they were buried from the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. We also view the large fresco of the Garden Scene (see Fig. 2), which feels like a time warp back in time to Pompeii. The Garden Scene displays the beauty of nature with the various plants and birds present, and the two heads hanging on posts seem to be looking out to the viewer and protecting the garden. After the garden pieces we then are welcomed to the indoors of the Bay of Naples homes. The presentations of glass objects as well as pieces of furniture are the next stop in the exhibition. We view a couple of lamps which have exquisite detail. The Lamp Bearing Youth (see Fig. 3) which was utilized as a home decoration seems to be more of an artifact. A young and fit man, presumably Apollo, stands in the now prominent cross balance posture. We then see objects such as the two Table Supporters and the Four Flasks. The two table supporters are very intricate objects, for they portray an almost devilish animal with a lion s leg. Dafny broke this experiment up into three distinct phases: 1985 1988 pre period , 1988 1997 treatment period , and 1997 2000 post period to show the relationship between price growth and rival co location. Dafny notes that previous observational studies on the impact of mergers have ignored selection problems and reported biased estimates. This sector is selected because, the assumption of co location being uncorrelated with factors related to price growth in the hospitals area would be violated if hospitals prior to 1988 moved to an area because they expected prices to increase during 1988 1996. Since the acute care hospital industry has not experience many entries since the Hospital Survey and Construction Act of 1946, and less than one percent of hospitals had rivals exit during the study period, the author concludes the assumption holds. The dataset is constructed using panel data and then separated into two samples: All Hospitals and Rival Sample. All Hospitals, is comprised of 4,487 hospitals with data for all independent variables, more than 100,000 residents in its counties or metropolitan area, are non federal, and present in the 1988 American Hospital Association Survey. Rival Sample, contains only non merging hospitals from the All Hospitals sample with two or more rivals within 7 miles during 1988. The reasoning behind two or more rivals is that if non merging hospital has less than two rivals then it cannot experience a rival merger. While the rationale for 7 miles is due to this small area when adjacent hospitals merge, it is reasonable to expect an effect on the prices of rivals. The Rival Sample is then broken down into two subdivisions: 118 hospitals with merging rivals (NMW) and 759 hospitals without merging rivals (NMWO). The need for the distinction between NMWs and NMWOs is because

Historical Revisionism In Film By Vertov Vertov s use of montage has several important implications for the film, including how it revises the history of Lenin, Stalin s rise to power, and particularly life in the non Russian Soviet republics. Historical revisionism in Three Songs of Lenin should not only be attributed to Stalinism, but also to Vertov s use of montage. Unlike Vertov s depiction of Soviet life in The Man with a Movie Camera, which requires a somewhat sophisticated analysis of documentary film to properly understand the film as historical in nature, the historical revisionism in Three Songs of Lenin is far more readily apparent. In addition to this, Hamlet sees that the King is alone in his room and states he is praying, yet he does not murder the King quite as yet. • 28. The Theory Of Knowledge Management Models In order for public and private organizations to exploit and manage knowledge in their daily processes and integrate knowledge management in their strategic planning, the managers of the organizations must know the actual meaning of knowledge. Right now, the three knowledge management models being used in organizations are Nonaka and Takeuci s (knowledgespiral), Firestone and McElroy s (knowledge life cycle) snowden s (Cynefin Model) (Heaidari, Khanifar Moghimi, 2011). The first two models are based on justified true premise and Popperian framework respectively, which are assumptions (Jamaluddin Khalifa, 2012). None of the three models is capable of providing a real world scenario for knowledge process illustration with a good explanation of how it works (MilovanoviД‡, 2011). If organizations continue using the current knowledge management models they will only describe how knowledge process works but it will not be easy to evaluate the models or even determine their usefulness in both private and public organizations. I propose to fill this gap by developing a better end to end model for better knowledge management process (Jamaluddin Khalifa, 2012). Background of the Problem After observing most organizations I have realized how their planning is similar to a ritual rain dance; the dance has no impact on succeeding weather, but the dancers belief it does. The cause of obesity results from America s social injustices. Today, food advertisements are in all places promoting an unhealthy lifestyle. Considering the great expense of healthy foods, low income families can barely afford fruits and vegetables. These two factors contribute to the increasing obesity rate in the United States. Unfortunately, it has taken an excessive amount of Americans to become obese for America to become aware of the issue and take action. Though it can take many different forms, the contemporary notion of a theatrical performance holds only two requirements; there needs to be actors playing out a scenario, and there needs to be an audience that can watch this event unfold. Theatreis an ephemeral art form, as its very nature requires that something happen at a given time, in a given place, and around people who can see it. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his Epic, Dialectical, or Non Aristotelian Theatre, Brecht does not transform the spatial relationship between actor and spectator, but he does attempt to transform the effect his theatre has on its audience. In other words, Brechtian techniques attempt to dissuade the audience from having an emotional connection to the action that happens on the stage. Instead, they force the audience to think critically about the sociological implications of the events that are happening, through making them aware of the fact that they are only experiencing a simulation of reality. There are many parts show the change in her from the average high school girl she used to be into a predatory killer, but there is only one reason for her change, and that is the war itself. The changes Mary Anne goes through in this story stand out very clear. In the beginning, the quote that introduces Mary Anne is, ...she was seventeen years old, fresh out of Cleveland Heights Senior High. She had long white legs... She is not completely part of it yet but she sure is fascinated by it, and will be part of it soon. She displays the danger of throwing away all separation between herself and the war. She is at the point where she wants to become one with the war. However towards the end of the story, Mary Ann becomes a completely different person. This can be shown perfectly in the quote, She had crossed to the other side. She was part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her pink sweater, and a necklace of human tongues. She was dangerous. She was ready for the kill (O Brien 116). Going back to the Vietnam War and its effect on Mary Anne. At this point, it can be seen that Mary Anne has completely crossed over. She has a necklace of human tongues, which is crazy weird. However, Mary Anne is still wearing her culottes and her pink sweater, the very pieces of clothing that made her appear so American at the beginning of the story. The reason for Mary Anne s change is not because of the Vietnamese or even Vietnam, even though it appeared to be at the beginning. It s the war itself. The war is half Vietnamese and half American. A example that shows Mary Anne going through her change is in the quote, Mary Anne made you think about those girls back home, how clean and innocent they all are, how they ll never

Humans are the largest threat to Earth because we as a species pollute the air, land, and water of the very planet we call home. Without Earth all life as we know it will cease to exist. Global warming is the product of the pollutants created by mankind. If mankind as a whole does not change its ways we will ruin our one and only planet that is suitable to sustain life. The Persian Invasion Of Greece Introduction Through the manuscripts of Herodotus, an ancient historian who hailed from the mountainous lands of Greece, modern day historians have been granted the ability to piece together the multitude of events that supposedly transpired during the years 480 and 479 BC between the Persian empire and the city states of the classical Greece (Herodotus). The second Persian invasion of Greece, which took place in the previously mentioned years, was a part of the many series of battles and encounters that made up the Greco Persian Wars. This invasion in particular, however, probably saw one of the most distinguished battles in ancient European warfare befall. As a whole, the second Persian invasion of Greece consisted of several battles that transpired within a close proximity of one another chronologically. The war itself was fairly short lived, even for its time, lasting only the course of approximately one year. The battles themselves took place in Thermopylae, Artemisium, Salamis, Platae, and Mycale (Setzer). The Persian invasion forces were led by King Xerxes I of Persia, the son of Darius I of Persia. Prior to the reign of Xerxes I, King Darius I had wanted to take control of ancient Greece. As such, he ordered two campaigns which made up the first Persian invasion of Greece. Much to his hindrance, however, Darius I breathed his last breath before he was presented with the opportunity to carry out a second invasion. King Xerxes I, who was the successor of Darius I,

Communication, if poorly managed, can lead to negative consequences including employee s frustration, uncertainty, change contempt (Frahm Brown (2007), Bordia, Hunt, Paulsen (2004)), psychological strain, low job satisfaction, and increase in turnover intention (Bordia, Hunt, Paulsen (2004)). If effectively managed, communication can result in multiple positive effects such as employee s positive perception towards change process, change acceptance (Frahm Brown (2007)), perception of justice within the organization (Nese (2014)), and change based momentum (Jansen (2004)). In this paper, I would like to explore how two communication approaches programmatic and participatory can be used to improve employee s positive perceptions towards organizational changes.
