Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960 s Essay
Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960 s
1960 s Britain had not yet developed its own style and was still in America s shadow. Britain was
dominated by 1950 s fashion and traditional values. But there were elements of change developing
in radio, TV and theatre and this is what I m going to explore.
At the beginning of the 1960 s music was still heavily influenced by America. During the 1950 s
everyone was listening to Elvis Presley but by the late 1950 s / early 60 s new elements entered
the music industry including new British artists. In 1959 Billy Fury, Cliff Richard and Adam Faith
all appeared in the charts. They started to produce records basing their songs and styles on Elvis
and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jackie Kennedy became a new fashion icon, wearing shifts and A line dresses which had been
designed in 1954/5 but not worn till 1960. They soon became popular. It gave women a new
sense of freedom and allowed them to dress in their own way. Mary Quant opened her first shop in
Carnaby Street which soon became very popular. She opened the way for a new generation of
British fashion.
The third type of popular culture controlled by America was film. The British film industry was in
decline. Most films in the cinema were American, such as West Side Story and Psycho . A new
brand of film featuring pop stars interested lots of teenagers. 1960 saw the start of something new
in cinema, the Carry On films. They showed a new British humour which people had never seen in
films before. Other films were gritty and realistic, that showed the working class and set the scene
for what was to come.
In Britain, radio was also starting to show are more distinctive style. It became one of the main
sources of entertainment with shows like The Goon Show . This surreal comedy became very
popular. Another well liked radio show was Beyond the Fringe , a satirical comedy that criticized
the way the country was run in a light hearted comedic way. But this made people think more about
politics and changed the way people thought.
TV was also starting to become very popular

Family Members Of Palliative Or End Of Life Patients
Family members of palliative or end of life patients tend to be very stressed about their loved one
and are often worried about the outcome, whether the circumstances were foreseen or not. Due to
a family member being incapable of carrying out normal roles, there are shifts in the family s
identity and function of roles in their daily routines (Brier, Del Gaudio, Kissane Zaider, 2011).
Many families show significant resilience and adaptation when facing stress such as this, but a
substantial minority of families become highly distressed when a familymember has palliative or
end of life illness, condition, or acute event (Brier et al., 2011). This stress and worry can lead to
grief and bereavement before and after death. This causes coping mechanisms to begin functioning
for the family members at the time of diagnosis or discovery or imminent end of life. Each is
family member is different and some may have a more difficult time in dealing with the death of
their loved one. These coping strategies related to grief will be further discussed as it pertains to
the family.
Family Coping With Palliative and End of Life Family Members
Palliative and end of life care is not the same term. Palliative care is a longer process than end of
life care and extends for months to years and may include attempted treatments to cure an illness
throughout that time and focuses on improving the quality of life for the patient and their families

Identity And Identity In Melina Marchetta s Looking For...
Looking for Alibrandi is a prime example on how young adults can be educated on the stresses and
losses of life and through reflection they can set you free. Looking for Alibrandi focuses on one girl
and the shame of her family s irresponsibility s have brought on them. Through her difficult school
year, her absent father, falling in love, losing friends and discovering the truth about her identity.
Melina Marchettaopened doors to the complications of the first generation Australian born ethnic
female identities. Marchetta identified the anxieties of being different and acceptance which comes
with being unfamiliar. She shows the reader themselves that people who are alike Josie are normal
and mainly important and not alone.

Secondly Looking for Alibrandi explores the relationships between mother and daughters,
fathers and daughters, grandmothers and grandchildren, relatives, girlfriends and boyfriends,
and girls together in school. A blossoming relationship throughout the novel is between Josie and
Jacob. Relationships can be a catalyst for change. They come from different worlds yet balance
each other out in the best ways possible. A main concern explored throughout the novel is the
difference between Jacob and Josie. Throughout the novel, individuals who play an important
role in Josie s life point out that Jacob isn t her type. Both are shocked to find each other
attractive, yet they both inspire each other. They both mutually understand there s more than
meets the eye. Jacob is special to Josie, they come from the same class and Josie learns to get rid
of bias of identity with his help and better to answer the question of who she really is. This
dynamic duo can relate to a lot of young individuals who are in committed relationships. Most
individuals look down upon young lovers and become sceptical on how long the relationships
would last. Not to mention the backlash Josie got from her peers about her relationships with
Jacob. Not to mention Josie would never be able to introduce Jacob to her strict Italian
grandmother. An issue a lot of young people face today as they would be shamed out of
relationships. Due to their relatives not liking their significant

history, common ancestry, religion, language, traditions, and beliefs. These things make up a
common culture that is shared by members of an ethnic group.
Arabs make up most of the population of Southwest Asia, Arabs also live in the United States,
Canada, and in parts of Africa and Europe. In Southwest Asia, Arabs believe themselves to be
descendants of Abraham. Arabs make up the majority of people who live in the Middle East.

routine; there were days when more than 100 persons were executed. Amnesty International
documented 2,946 executions in the 12 months following Bani Sadr s impeachment, a
conservative figure because the authorities did not report all executions. The pace of executions
slackened considerably at the end of 1982, partly as a result of a deliberate government decision
but primarily because, by then, the back of the armed resistance movement had largely been
broken. The radical opposition had, however, eliminated several key clerical leaders, exposed
vulnerabilities in the state s security apparatus, and posed the threat, never realized, of sparking a
wider opposition movement. The December decree, however, implied no increased tolerance for...

In February 1983, the government arrested Tudeh leader Nureddin Kianuri, other members of the
party Central Committee, and more than 1,000 party members. The party was proscribed, and
Kianuri confessed on television to spying for the Soviet Union and to espionage, deceit, and
treason. Possibly because of Soviet intervention, none of the leading members of the party was
brought to trial or executed, although the leaders remained in prison. Many rank and file members,
however, were put to death. By 1983 Bazargan s IFM was the only political group outside the
factions of the ruling hierarchy that was permitted any freedom of activity. Even this group was
barely tolerated. For example, the party headquarters was attacked in 1983, and two party members
were assaulted on the floor of the Majlis. In 1984 Khomeini denounced the Hojjatieh, a
fundamentalist religious group that rejected the role assigned to the faqih under the Constitution.
The organization, taking this attack as a warning, dissolved itself. For most Iranians the reciprocal
obligations and privileges that define relations between kinsfolk from the parent child bond to more
distant ones have been more important than those associated with any other kind of social
alignment. Although Bakhtiar won the qualified support of moderate clerics like Shariatmadari, his
measures did not win him the support of Khomeini and the main opposition elements, who were
now committed to the overthrow of the monarchy and

Chinese Migration
In the year of 2017, Canada will be celebrating 132 years since the completion of the CPR, the
Canadian Pacific Railway. The completion of the transcontinental railway was critical for the
survival of the newly formed country of Canada. It finally unified the country from coast to coast,
economically, and physically linking the wide set of land together. However, even though the
building of the railroad was a dangerous and a long construction, it created employment for
thousands of Chinese workers. The Heritage Minute: Nitro presents the story of an old man telling
his grandchildren about how Chinese immigrants helped build the Canadian Pacific Railwayin the
late 1800 s. A younger self of the old man is shown as he volunteers to set a dangerous... Show more

Many citizens of Canada believed that the Chinese had come to take away their jobs, urging on
great amount of racism. The Prime Minister of Canada at the time, John A. Macdonald, insisted
on the recruitment of the Chinese workers in the interest of reducing costs. The Chinese workers
were paid one fifth to one half of the salaries Canadian workers received. Not only did they
provide cheap labour for their employers, but would also do the jobs Canadians would not. Just
as shown in the Heritage Minute, the Chinese workers were used to blow up rock with the
explosive nitroglycerin. As mentioned in the Heritage Minute, it is said that for every mile of the
railway, one Chinese worker died. Some argue that it is more accurate to say that for every mile of
the railway, four Chinese workers died. However, the Chinese workers brought more to the
production of the CPR than just cheap labour; they brought with them their knowledge and
experience, proving to be skilled

The Roman Calendar System During The Roman Republic
Since ancient times, calendars have been a vital part of civilization. Calendars divided time over
extended periods and arranged them in order, making them convenient for regulating daily life,
religious holidays, and for historical and scientific purposes (Calendar). Throughout history, humans
have used signs offered by nature, such as the phases of the Moonor the movement of the Sun, as
the basis for various calendar systems (Calendar). However, when people aimed to improve
previous calendars, they were driven to do so not only by the desire to be astronomically accurate
but also by the politics of the time. Politics affected both the motivation for calendar reform and the
implementation of these new systems.
Authority figures were primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Roman Republic, a group of priests called pontifices held the responsibility of
shortening February and inserting a new month into the year (Wigelsworth). However, these
authorities were not always effective; in times of war, when the group of priests did not meet
regularly, the calendar fell out of line (Aldrete). Roman priests ultimately did not care about the
accuracy of the calendar and were motivated by their own political interests; sometimes, they even
altered the calendar to reduce or extend the terms of certain public officials (Roman Republican
Calendar). Though the objective was at first to have a calendar accurate to natural events, the
people who implemented reform had ulterior motives, hindering the effectiveness of the proposals
they were responsible for. Though it was vital for the Roman government to serve the gods by
celebrating religious festivals at the right time, the government clearly did not always do its duty
(Emmons).

Indeed, cosmetic edits to the calendar honored the power of authorities. In 44 BCE in
Rome, the month Quinctilis was renamed Iulius for Julius Caesar, and the month Sextilis

The Valley Children s Hospital
General Description
The Valley Children s Hospital apartments and condominiums are intended to reduce or eliminate
the commute of the hospital staff that would prefer to have suitable living closer to work.
Therefore, placement of the apartment complex would need to be nearby Valley Children s
Hospital. The proposed complex would be one to two stories tall, depending on demand and space
constraints. Therefore timber, more specifically Douglas fir, is the best choice for construction
material. There will, however, be an athletics facility that will be composed of steel. Since the
hospital is located on Childrens Blvd, a direct road must travel from the apartment complex to that
road or any adjacent roads that lead to Childrens Blvd. Additionally, adequate parking must
accommodate all tenants as well as possible guests, while adhering to handicap laws. Considering
that the majority of the land surrounding the hospital is undeveloped, proper plumbing, gas lines,
and electrical conducts will need to be installed.
Location
The characteristics of the site where the apartment/condominium complex will be built play a
significant role in the development of the same. Therefore, in order to determine the most suitable
location for the construction of the project, a profound analysis of the potential locations must be
carried out. A research process will be necessary to determine the characteristics of every proposed
location. The factors to be considered during the selection

Density Lab Report Essay
From this lab, we can learn how using the volume and mass of an object can be used to the
calculate density, and how the density can help you to identify what substance the object is made
of. We began the lab by obtaining object C and recorded the physical properties of the substance.
Next, the object was placed onto a scale to determine the massin grams (56.56g). We used a ruler to
measure the radius of the base (.6cm) and the height (5cm) of the cylinder shaped substance. We
plugged these measurements into the volumeformula for a cylinder (V
=ПЂr2 h) in order to determine the volume of the object (5.652cm3). We plugged the mass and
volume into the density formula (D=m/v) and determined the density of object C (10.0 g/cm3). This
answer was not the exact same number as the known densities given to us, but the ... Show more

Related Literature Of Blindness
Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature
Blindness may be perceived differently among individuals. It can be a blessing or a curse. It
may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate
to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much
passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016).
Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment.
Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind
stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste
test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson,
2014). Blindness not only means the lack of vision but also the lack of intellectual perception. In
our everyday life it can cost a lot. It necessary then to use our sight, insight and/or foresight to be

Policy In Pakistan
US policy in Pakistan largely centres around expending military aid to combat regional terrorism
and facilitate peace in Afghanistan. However, it has hardly achieved any tangible results.
The Pakistani army, which supersedes it s elected government, diverted these funds towards anti
India terror factions for covert proxy wars due to it s historic rivalry with India. These terror
factions carried out the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, attracting censure from Pakistan s civilians
and international condemnation at a time when US strategic convergence with India was growing.
Simultaneous changes in Pakistan s military leadership led to attempts to dissolve these groups,

The fundamental problem was a lack of leverage : Pakistan had no interest in a peaceful
Afghanistan but the US had no other partner to turn to.
Eventually, the Pakistan army lost control over some of these terror groups, who linked up with al
Qaeda, Talibanand more recently, the Islamic State, across the porous Afghanistan border. In light
of pressure from the US and it s growing non state actors, the Pakistan military attempted to curb
these groups but failed. Consequently, these groups pledged alliance to one of al Qaeda, Taliban or
the Islamic State and amped up terror attacks within Pakistan. This reached the tipping point in
December 2014, when members of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan killed 243 children in an army
school. In response, the Pakistani army killed 3500 terrorists of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan and
other internal terror factions in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) near the Afghanistan
border, over the last two years. Simultaneously, the Pakistani media blamed the US for Pakistan s
thriving internal violence and anti American sentiment amongst civilians grew.
While this was a major counter terrorism initiative, Pakistan has an episodic history of reverting to
proxy terrorism. It continues to harbour anti India terror groups, which could be refocused towards
India, once tensions with the Tehrik i Taliban subside and Pakistan could resume double crossing
the US. However,

A Brief Note On Diabetes And Its Effects On Diabetes Essay
Diabetes Policy This paper focuses on people with diabetes. Diabetes occurs when there is
impaired ability by the pancreas to produce enough insulin, or the body loses its ability to utilize
the insulin produced by pancreas effectively. Consequently, the body fails to regulate the level of
glucose in the blood. The failure to control glucose leads to episodes of hyperglycemia,
especially after a meal. Diabetes is one of the chronic conditions that account for the largest
morbidity rates globally. According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
(2015), approximately 29.1 million people living in the United States had diabetes. Out of this
number, about 21.0 million people were diagnosed. The remaining 8.1 million cases were
undiagnosed. According to the World Health Organization (2016), the prevalence of diabetes
among adults aged over 18 years was 8.5% in 2014. The prevalence had increased from 4.7% in
1980 to 8.5% in 2014. The increased has been most significant among the middle and low income
countries. This has mostly been explained by the changes in income distribution in those countries.
In other words, the proportion of people who have had an increase of revenue has increased
significantly in the middle and low income countries. People with diabetes lack the ability to
regulate the level of glucose in the blood. Consequently, whenever they eat, their blood glucose
level rises above the normal maximum limit leading to hyperglycemia. Poorly controlled

The Consecution Of Christians In The Redemption Of Peter
The persecution of the Church affected a lot in the family life of Christians. Emperor Nero did the
first heinous persecution of Christians. In one of movies The redemption of Peter shows few
glimpses of this persecution. Families with children, women and old parents were sent to the
unbelievable torture containing loud and painful screams as being Christians, were heard being
tortured but they did not deny their faith. The Emperor says he wants to burn Christians, so he can

Tragic Events That Occur In Romeo And Juliet Essay
The tragic events that took place in Romeo and Juliet could be considered the result of Romeo s

Cardiovascular Disease Is The Number One Killer
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States, causing about 610,000 deaths
yearly (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Cardiovascular disease is defined as a
group of disorders damaging the heart and blood vessels, usually involving the blockage of vessels,
which in turn harm the heart (WHO, 2015). A 2011 American Heart Association statement
predicted that without intervention, 40% of United States adults will have at least one form of
Cardiovascular diseaseby 2030. A large portion of these deaths by cardiovascular disease is due to
the sedentary population. To better prevent cardiovascular disease, the Physical Activity Guidelines
for Americans Advisory Committee stated that adults should complete about 150 minutes of
moderate intensity physical activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity weekly
(Barry, Blair, Church, Hooker, Sui, Warren, 2010). Research has shown that meeting these
recommendations is linked with lower cardiovascular disease risk, as well as reduced risk of
mortality. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that only about 20.3% of
Americans meet these guidelines. These statistics show that the majority of the United States
population does not get nearly the amount of physical activity they need. However, even though
many people are not doing the recommended amount of physical activity, this may not mean that
they are living a sedentary life. Living a sedentary lifestyle is

By China attempting to gain international support via identifying terrorist organizations within the
PRC it allows China to address that this problem is not just a problem for China but also other
countries who s enemies are terrorist organizations example, the United States and its fight against
ISIS. Although this may seem as a benefit for China and its aims to integrate Xinjiang, for the

BCS Championship Game Analysis
What this article is about is the ticket sales and the secondary prices in two of college football
postseason games. The two games that they are focused on is the 2014 Rose bowl which was the
game between Stanford and Michigan State and the BCS Championship game between Auburn
and Florida State. In between one week worth of action the Rose Bowl and the BCS
Championship game was played. The main things in this article that they were looking for is
distance traveled and sightlines for seating can raise the ticket prices for a collegefootballgame. In
the introduction of this article they talk about inelastic ticket pricing and how behavior is not

They are not going to be teams like Alabama, Texas, or Notre Dame that going to play in a

they have fans all over the country than teams like Boise State, North Dakota State, San Diego

across country to go watch postseason play are the fans going to come or will the trip be too
expensive for them. On a dart board in terms of reliable, this would be in the middle, because what
about teams like Miami that can get the Orange Bowl and be right there in Miami. Another team is
University of Southern California or UCLA and play in the Rose Bowl which would be like a

Is work a route out of poverty?
In recent years there has been much debate on the subject of work and is work the true route out
of poverty? This piece of work will show both sides of the story as in how people look at the
topic from government officials to the common person. It will look at policies that government
have set to get people back to work. This piece of work will look at a number of different
sources. There are many that still believe that staying on benefits is the best choice for them and
there is much evidence to support this point as well, this point can be seen more and more in the

In truth, there are millions who still live in a poor household and this is even when there is at
least one occupant that is in a full time job, these people are still in poverty because wages are not
keeping up with the rate of infliction. In recent years the number of household that are working
and that are still in poverty has actually increased. Although in recent years the number of
households that have no one working in them and that were in poverty has declined, so it can be
seen that in some cases work is not the route out of poverty. Buck, (2008)
The more you look into this subject in depth the more you see that there seems to be no way out
of poverty even if the person is working in a full time job. The state of the nation report which
was done by Alan Milburn suggests that work is no longer the way out of poverty because of the
rise in day to day living which has been rising for many years, but the minimum wages has not
being keeping up with this rise. Alan Milburn believe that to help with the minimum wage, the
winter fuel allowance should be cut. He pointed out that pensioners are not affected by the down
turn as much as younger people that are still working. This point was seen to be citizen heavily.
Alan Miburn also say in the report that there should be more of a performance related pay for
teachers and many other jobs. The

A Study On The Healthcare Field
From an early age, I gained much knowledge about the healthcare field. My younger brother was
diagnosed with Autism, Psychosis, and Asperger. My mother was diagnosed with depression,
anxiety disorder, diabetes and hyper blood tension. Due to my mom not being educated, she
cannot read or write in Spanish or English. I was forced to learn everything in the healthcare field.
I quickly became intrigued of each specialized field when I took my family to their doctors
appointments. A few qualities I looked for when searching for new physicianwas affordability,
patient satisfaction, and a well organized practice. Not everyone has affordable insurance, or
receives the best quality of care due to poor organized facilities. My true passion towards the
healthcare field arose when I started on my career in the financial department. I knew that I wanted
to help a group of people and the healthcare facilities to create affordable and quality care. As the
next healthadministrative leader I wantto make a difference by offering a well managed healthcare
facility, providing effective quality care, and high patient satisfaction to all healthcare facilities. In
my current role as a financial counselor, I am exposed to several diverse backgrounds, insurances,
and medical procedures. Each day I learn something new and met new patients that hold an
interesting story. I have learned that their stories are never the same and it s important to treat them
for who they are and not a number. When

Interaction Between The Roman And Celtic Civilizations
Interaction between the Roman and Celtic civilizations
Between 750 BC and 12 BC the Celts were the most powerful people in Northern central Europe.
The Celts consisted of a number of tribes that all spoke a similar common language as well as
sharing common elements of culture and art but were not a cohesive group like the Romans or
Egyptians. The Celts were widely spread through Europe from the British Isles to Galatia more
commonly known today as Austria, Switzerland, southern France and Spain, these areas consisted
of multiple different political organisations ruled by various leaders. North west Europe was
inhabited by three main Celtic groups; The Gauls who lived in ancient France, Britons who lived
in Great Britain and Gaels who lived in Ireland. The Celts were first mentioned in Greek written
sources around 500 BC when they were referred to as Keltoi. Other sources such as those of the
Romans also mention the Celtic groups for example texts from Alexander the Great. When the
Romans invaded and Conquered Europe most of Celtic culture, history and technology was
destroyed, the only elements surviving were those such as their language.
Much if not all of the interaction between the Romans and Celts was based on conflict, battles
and wars between the two groups occurred frequently, generally as a result of one group wanting
the others resources, land and slaves, as well as riches such as, iron, lead, zinc, copper, silver and
gold. Conflict first began between the

Dysfunctional College Campuses
College campuses function as a collective organization, meaning that all of the offices and
departments play an integral role in making the college experience great. The departments need to
work together to guide students in matters such as financial aid, class registration, student accounts,
and so many more. For example, if a new studentwere to contact the CONNECTIONs Orientation
office and ask about their housing, the department secretary should either know how to answer the
question, or know who to connect the student with. The current issue that we are finding on
campus is that offices aren t working together. Students are being directed to a different office,
each time being told that the answer will be at the following office, and these types of experiences
can make or break whether a student wants to come back to Kutztown University. Organizational
structure and connectedness are necessary to avoid a dysfunctional campus environment. The issue
does not only affect the students that have to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Identity Of The Maori And New Zealand Chinese Identity
Identity is what one is as a person and what that person can contribute to the society. Identity
formation in New Zealand as a significant concept, as due to the history of the nation one s
identity is critical to what the society perceives of the person. In this assignment I will be of the
Maori Race in the Media by Melanie wall (1997) and New ZealandChinese Identity: exploring two
texts Stereotypical constructions Sojourners, Model Minority and Multiple identities by Manying
Ip and David Pang (2005), both of which discuss issues related to identity in New Zealand.
Stereotypical Constructions of the Maori Race in the Media by Melanie Wall
In her text Stereotypical Constructions of the Maori Race in the Media Melanie Wall (1997)
explores two key ideas: how stereotypes gave Pakeha the justification to Colonise New Zealand
and the contemporary stereotypes of Maori in the media. Wall s argument is centred on the idea
that the stereotypes in the media today have been re created from the identity that was given to
the Maori by Pakeha during colonisation. she further argues that not only that the stereotypes
were given to the Maori but they were used to justify the colonisation of New Zealand. Wall goes
on to say that racial disclosure has played a huge role in the colonisation of territories as
stereotypes were used to justify the conceptual domination and the material exploitation of the new
world (pg40). Wall claims that since the Maori were portrayed as

Introduction
Project Based Learning is a teaching method that allows students to gain knowledge and skills
by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and
complex question, problem, or challenge. Through this approach students acquire a deeper
knowledge through active exploration of real world challenges and problems. Beautiful Stuff! is
a book written by Cathy Weisman Topal and Lella Gandini that shares the journey of real teachers
in a real school who were inspired by educators from Reggio Emilia, Italy. Cathy Topal spent two
mornings a week in the preschool and kindergarten as a visual aid teacher. Lella Gandini consulted
with teachers about aspects of the Reggio Emilia approach. The teachers in book Rite Harris and
Debbie Grubbs observed and recorded what happens when the focus is on process rather than
product in project based learning. The book provides approaches on how to nurture the creativity
of children, which is a key part in a child s development. In my paper I will summarize the five
chapters within the book, along with providing two researched based article on project based
learning (PBL), and give insight into my beliefs of project work with children.

study how materials can fuel ideas and thinking. To begin their investigation the ladies warned their
student s parents that their children would be requesting materials to

The Importance Of War In Poems
Good morning class, this morning/ afternoon I will be discussing how war is represented within
society and how text structures and stylistic devices help to emphasise war within poems. I will
be reading and analysing the poems Perhaps by Vera Brittain in 1919 and In Flanders Fields by
John McRae in 1915.
Perhaps and In Flanders Fields are both a Lyric poem and are about the feelings of grief and
sorrow for loved ones lost in war. Perhaps was written by V. Brittain in response to the death of
her late fiancГ© Roland Aubrey Leighton, who was killed at the age of 20 by a sniper in 1915,
only four months after she had accepted his marriage proposal. In Flanders Fields was written
by J.McRae in response to the death of his friend and fellow soldier Lieutenant Alexis Helmer
killed In action on the 2nd of May 1915. The theme of these poems is loss. This theme is explored
through the poet s use of tone and mood, the poetic techniques used and the social comment the
poem makes. Each of these will be discussed in detail today.
The theme of perhaps is emphasised through the tone and mood of the poem. The moods of the
poem are sadness and grief. This is created through the use of repetition, enjambment and alternate
rhyme. Thought the poem Brittian uses repetition in the form of the words perhaps and although to
emphasis the fact that although her fiancГ© has passed, perhaps she will find happens again.
Enjambment followed by a pause is used at the end of the poem in the lines

Homecoming Poem
Wilfred Owen s Anthem for Doomed Youth and Bruce Dawe s Homecoming are thematically
connected poems which explore the futility of war and the treatment of deceased combatants. Both
Owen and Dawe served in the military and were controversial condemners in all that they penned on
World War One and the Vietnam War respectively. Despite this, these texts do not explicitly state
these views, but rather evoke the sympathy of the audience utilising subtle poetic techniques
including contrast, flesh imagery and deathimagery.
Contrast is one of the most apparent devices within Homecoming and Anthem for Doomed Youth
and is used to create a pervading sense of war s irony. The very title of Dawe s poem,
Homecoming , has the positive connotations of family reunion but ... Show more content on

This quotation is heavy with religious imagery of the passage to heaven, impressed upon the reader
by the purposeful placement of commas. Throughout history religion has been misused as
justification of the military institution, and Dawe considers the contradictory nature of these
ideologies; one preaching peace and the other incentivising the indiscriminate killing of one s
neighbour. These shadows, however, do not simply pass over untouched land but the countryside
they have scarred; metaphorically envisioned as steaming chow mein and likened to Australia s
knuckled hills and desert emptiness . The irony of this poem truly peaks when in spite of all his
condemnation, Dawe momentarily admires the mash, the splendour of war, emphasising its eternal
allure. Anthem for Doomed Youth shares this ironic contrast, comparing traditional funeral rites to
war. From the opening stanza the audience is immersed in cacophony of battle, with Owen utilising
the alliteration of rifles rapid rattle to emulate the sound produced by the monstrous anger of guns .

Rick Warren The Purpose Driven Church Summary
Rick Warren is an influential pastor that has authored many books to influence men and women
in the kingdom of God. The Purpose Driven Church is an excellent book written by Rick Warren
(1995). This book gives the reader a glimpse of the critical things that should be considered in the
church. Although, this may not be a blueprint to start a church, however, Warren provides his
personal experience of starting a church and how the church grew like a living organism. Warren
(1995) states, The key issue for churches in the twenty first century will be church health, not
growth (p. 17). He did a great job of shifting your perspective of how the church has the potential
to grow if you as the leader take the proper steps and putting in the... Show more content on

These five areas that Warren (1995) presented are essentials that will aid in the church being
driven by purpose. For the church to stand, it must have a solid foundation. Warren (1995) states,
a foundation is laid by clarifying in the minds of everyone involved exactly why the church
exists and what it is supposed to do (p. 86). When people have an understanding of their purpose,
it will induce cohesiveness in the ministry. It is vital for the leader to define the churches
purpose, organize around them, and application is imperative. Therefore, once the church has
reached a definitive purpose, it is time to carry out the Great Commission. Understanding the
demographic area and who the church is going to serve with help with carrying out the purpose
of the ministry. Therefore, when the church gets understanding of the people that they are going
to target, it will help them to implore a strategic plan. According to Warren (1995), The more
your target is in focus, the more likely it is that you will be able to hit it (p. 172). It is critical for
the church create a process to work through their purpose. When there is a process to their
purpose, it will help the purpose to be carried out daily. However, the ministry shouldn t focus on
growing a church with programs but focus on growing people with a process (Warren, 1995).
Warren (1995), emphasized that his deep conviction that anybody can be won to Christ if you
discover the key to his or her heart (p. 216). It is the act of love that will help the purpose driven
church to meet the people s needs. When the ministry has the people attending the church, it is the
pastor s job to teach the principles of the Bible. It is the word of God that is going to change the
hearts of the people.

Femara for fertility VS Clomid
Clomid is a popular drug in fertility clinics and works by blocking the estrogen receptors. So, the

many years, whereas Femara is a relatively new drug in this field. Clomid is taken for five days as

On the other hand, Clomid may stay in the body for some time which isn t good; it may take
almost six weeks. Therefore, it can result to unfavorable effects on a woman, for example on the
cervical mucus and the uterine lining. Remember cervical mucus is essential to nourish and protect
the sperm as it travels through the fallopian tube to meet the egg for fertilization. Also, after
conception, implantation occurs in the uterine lining. Does this mean while on Femara for fertility

Research Paper On Israel Culture
Israel
SSG Dustin L. Ingram
SLC 13P Class 001 16 The Army s field manual on Counterinsurgency defines Culture as a system
of shared beliefs, values, customs, behaviors, and artifacts that the members of society use to cope
with their world and with one another ( Counterinsurgency , 2006, para. 3 37). The culture of any
particular group is evolving all the time due to it being a product of fluid characteristics that form
and shape that culture. Some cultures evolve quickly while others take much longer to evolve due
to some inherent rigidity. Israel fits on both sides of this scale and is very interesting to examine
for one particular reason, Israel is a country formed relatively recently by a culture group that has

With a total population of 8,049,314 people, they are a relatively small country but due to the
size of Israel, about 92% of these people live in urban areas (The World Factbook, n.d.). This fact
plays a large role in the Israeli economy. With so much of the country being urban only about
2.5% of their GDP comes from agriculture while the remaining 97.5% is from the Service and
Industry sectors that are more common in urban areas (The World Factbook, n.d.). Religion also
plays a huge part in shaping the culture of the Israelis with about 75% of the population being
Jewish. This not only shapes the more apparent aspects of the Israeli culture like their values,
beliefs, and traditions but also effects things like their diet and language which both have their
roots in the Jewish religion. In fact, Israel is the only country that Hebrew is the official
language. Not everything within the Israeli culture however, centers on the Jewish religion. The
people of Israel also value fairness and freedom from religious persecution so much that their
court systems are set up in three different branches to cover Christian, Muslim, and Jewish cases
to ensure that there is no religious bias in their legal system. This idea is both a product of the fact
that Israel is home to about 25% non Jewish residents and the fact that the Israeli people know

Theoretical Perspective In Psychology
Without society, there cannot be a self (132). That said, the way one presents himself should be
examined in terms of the interplay between both the individual and the culture he is immersed in.
Symbolic statements used by the self, for example, are often constrained or shifted to convey a
meaning that aligns with the institution such a self belongs to. With this in mind, I observed the
office doors of the 3rd floor PsychologyDepartment in the Brogden Psychology Building by taking
photos of such doors to examine how such statements can reflect one as an individual and as a
member of a subculture.
Perhaps some of the most fascinating office doors amongst the ones I observed were those covered

Thus, along with deductions made about the individuals, the observed symbolic statements can also
be examined through the lens of the subculture of the department as well. For example, although
there was an overall variety in content, the majority of the office doors observed contained personal
/humorous statements rather than informational/structured ones. Since these statements are seen by
other colleagues of the department, it is reasonable to assume that the department is playful in
nature. Similarly, many of the directions and lab doors were disorganized, exhibiting a uniform
nature of disarray rather than structured organization. Another form of content that was plentiful in
numbers was that of posters concerning mental health itself. This sentiment stresses passion for the
department s subculture itself, showcasing the department s pride in their research and its
importance on society as a whole. This department differs from others I ve seen in terms of
personality. The unique additions of humor and passion concerning the department set the

The Visionary Skills By Richard Branson
Richard Branson has proved his monumental visionary skills by persistently projecting his
fantasies for the organisation and collaborating the resources to move in the direction of
fulfilment of those fantasies. He inspires his workers to bring in new ideas and to think of their
own thoughts and arrangements. This is exhibited by his routine practice of listening, reading
and reacting to the suggestions and messages of his employees. Branson has been depicted as a
personality who enjoys the difficulties, risks and challenges in business and the one who derives
satisfaction to attain the apparently inaccessible targets. It is a part of who he is and he shows it
through his leadership style. 2. Team Builder: There is no existence of leadership without its

effective transformational leadership. The successful implementation of unity among team
members has made Branson more successful than ever. He has traveled extra miles and flown to
greater heights just to grasp the recipe of fun working environment for his employees. He
believes to have a family like bond within members who cherish being part of it and strive to
create and enhance that unity. He wants to have a team people who work for him, for virgin, and

Climate and topography are two very important factors that may influence industries profitability
and productivity. Is important for business leaders to recognize how climate and topography factors
impacts different industries. Recognizing climate and topography could be of assistance for
businesses venturing into the global business environment arena. Climate and topography are
factors of huge importance when determining location and strategic planning. One of the industries
most affected by climate and topography is the transportation industry. The transportation industry

The same consideration, on a smaller scale, the electronics industry enjoys. The electronics industry
is the combination of manufacturers of electronics products at different scales. Climatic
considerations are very important to the electronics industry. The incorrect climatic condition could
cause devastating effects for example Tribocorrosion involves mechanical and chemical
/electrochemical interactions between surfaces in relative motion in the presence of a corrosive
environment. Tribocorrosion phenomena are encountered in many technological areas where they
cause damage to installations, machines, and devices. Often tribocorrosion damage is a problem for
safety or for human health. In other applications tribocorrosion phenomena are put to good use in
manufacturing. The chemo mechanical mechanisms of tribocorrosion are still incompletely
understood, they involve the properties of contacting material surfaces, the mechanics of the
contact and the corrosion conditions (D Landolt, 2006). The tribocorrosion example clearly
illustrates how climate could directly affect the electronics industry. Topographic considerations are
also directly linked to this industry. The incorrect topographic location chosen for a factory or
distribution center could cause millions in loses to the industry. The electronics industry depends
on strategic topographical locations for distribution, raw materials, and ease of

Essay about Argentina
Argentina
Europeans arrived in the region with the 1502 voyage of Amerigo Vespucci. Spanish navigator
Juan Diaz de Solias visited what is now Argentina in 1516. Spain established a permanent colony
on the site of Buenos Aires in 1580. They further integrated Argentina into their empire following
the establishment of the Vice Royalty of Rio de la Plata in 1776, and Buenos Aires became a
flourishing port.
Buenos Aires formally declared independence from Spain on July 9, 1816. Argentines revere
General Jose de San Martin, who campaigned in Argentina, Chile, and Peru, as the hero of their
national independence. Following the defeat of the Spanish, centralist and federalist groups waged
a lengthy conflict between themselves to determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New social and political forces were seeking political power. These included the modern military
and the labor movement that emerged from the growing urban working class.
The military ousted Argentina s constitutional government in 1943. Peron, then an army colonel,
was one of the coup s leaders, and he soon became the government s dominant figure as minister
of labor. Elections carried him to the presidency in 1946. He aggressively pursued policies
aimed at giving an economic and political voice to the working class and greatly expanded the
number of unionized workers. In 1947, Peron announced the first five year plan based on
nationalization and industrialization. He presented himself as a friend of labor and assisted in
establishing the powerful General Confederation of Labor (CGT). Peron s dynamic wife, Eva
Duarte de Peron, known as Evita (1919 1952), helped her husband develop his appeals to labor and
women s groups. Women obtained the right to vote in 1947.
Peron won reelection in 1952, but the military deposed him in 1955. He went into exile, eventually
settling in Spain. In the 1950s and 1960s, military and civilian administrations traded power. They
tried, with limited success, to deal with diminished economic growth and continued social and labor
demands. When military governments

Businesses that use a cash drawer, can be particularly susceptible to employee theft. Cash is
always a higher temptation because it is easy to take and easy to hide and difficult for employers
to trace. Still, there are quite a few processes that can be put into place to dissuade employees from
stealing and from the business. A few options include:
1)Separate Cash Drawers At the beginning of every shift a counted cash drawer should be given
to each cashier. This provides a definitive starting amount for reference. Each cashier should be
responsible for their own individual drawer. Shared drawers will make it impossible to pinpoint
which employee might be the one stealing if a situation occurs.
2)Verifying Cash Drawer Counts Each cashier should count the cash in the drawer provided to them
at the beginning of the shift. After counting, the employee must sign the register tape to confirm
that the cash amount and the sales tape are in balance. This prevents discrepancies regarding the
amount a drawer had when the shift began.
3)Mid shift Readings At some point during each shift, without advanced notice, a manager
should take the current drawer and provide a new drawer to each cashier. A sales report should
be run on the used drawer to verify that it is in balance. This measure will prevent cashiers from
storing stolen cash in the drawer during their shift. A second drawer swap should periodically be
conducted as well to prevent predictability of the

Nature Versus Nurture Has Been A Big Debate In The Past
Nature versus nurture has been a big debate in the past few years. Debates and arguments from
both sides has its own statements which makes their side stronger. Some argue that it is in the
genetics if a person is intelligent where some state the opposite, that surroundings make a person
intelligent which improves them in a person mentally and physically. In the 1950s psychologist
Harry Harlow studied the effects of maternal deprivation on the development of baby monkeys.
Some philosophers such as Plato and Descartes suggested that certain things are inborn (Saul
McLeod, 2007), or that they occur naturally regardless of environmental influences. Other examples
of nature debates were Bowlby s 1969 theory of attachment likewise Chomsky s... Show more

The dizygotic twins show a higher correlation than their other siblings even when reared apart
supporting the theory that nature does have a major influence on human intelligence. Nurture
intelligence is another factor which is still unfolded. Some believe that upbringing a child in a
proper environment can effect their mood, body and their views towards to world. If someone s
brought up in an environment where he or she gets all the facilities and necessities of daily life, it
will help through the entire life, in saying that if the person receives the correct surroundings,
family support, supportive friends circle, it can help them throughout the journey of life. Family
habits, interests and company of good people as mentioned above will leave a significant effect on
the person s development. The nature theory holds the genetic influence over abstract traits
however, the environmental factors are the real origins of our behaviour. We want to be according
to the environment around us. At the end we are still confused which way is right nature or nurture
since both sides have valid reasons to be right. Some traits come to us by genes and some we
experience through travelling and experiencing different situations in our lifetime, which is a
proven fact. Nurture helps shape our intelligence in the sense that what surrounds us is what we end

The World Is Flat !, By Thomas L. Friedman
When using Chanel s cosmetics, when drinking Danone yogurt with breakfast, when driving Ford
motor the way home, global brands which are highly visible symbol of the increasing integration
of world market, could been discovered around everywhere. As Thomas L. Friedman (2005) states,
World is flat! , which means world is being shrunk by the spreading of globalisation.
Globalisation, a result of social development, can be described as the increase in cross broader
trade and influence on the economic and social behaviour of nation states (David Begg, 2003:272).
This process has affected the world widely and deeply, principally in economics, industrial,
technological, political and cultural aspects.
Over the past decade, as the liberalization of national and openness of global markets, globalisation
has benefitted the world significantly, such as income improved, increase of imports and exports,
industrial development, thus, free flow of trade, capital and information have produced the best
outcome for growth and human welfare. Therefore, it is little doubt that globalisation has positive
impact on developed and developing countries. When it comes to China, ever since it formally
joined WTO, great benefits has been gained from the international trade while a huge boost to the
collaboration with other countries.
The issue of globalisation in China, including demonstrating why globalisation is beneficial for
China, the status quo situation of globalisation in China, and the

Teaching Styles Within The Classroom
Teaching Physical Education today is more intricate than most people might think it is or was
years ago. Classrooms today include students of a very large spectrum. This can include students
who learn visually, auditory, by being hands on or even students who participate in adaptive
classrooms. Basically, every student in any classroom seems to learn slightly differently than their
classmate these days. Too many teachers are avoiding including multiple teaching styles in their
classrooms due to the potential increase in effort and preparation that follows, but it is crucial that
Physical Educators are aware of the importance of teaching styles in the classroom. A teacher who
can properly incorporate multiple teaching styles into their classrooms is an example of a
successful and effective teacher. Students in today s physical educationclassrooms vary greatly
among great levels. In order for teachers to effectively teach every single one of their students, they
need to incorporate different teaching styles into their daily routine. One example of a teaching
style is the direct teaching style. The direct teaching style is the most commonly used teaching style
in Physical Education classrooms, so it can also be considered the most effective in a normal
classroom setting. Direct teaching, or otherwise known as Command style teaching is self
explanatory in the fact that it the most command like style. The teacher is the leader of the
classroom and provides their students with

The Symbolism In The Masque Of The Red Death
Edgar Allan Poe s use of symbolism in The Masque of the Red Death creates a very sinister and
chilling mood which makes this short story so suspenseful. When Poe describes the layout of
the Prince Prospero s party, he lists out a variety of colors that describe seven rooms which
ultimately symbolize the stages of life: (The First Chamber) was ... in blue and vividly blue were
its window (2) which represents new life and birth but also that The seventh (and final) apartment
was closely shrouded in black velvet tapestries that hung all over the ceiling and down the walls
(2) which represents death. By introducing the reader to the bright colors of the first rooms and
then to the black, ominous final room leaves the reader frightened of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bananas
deforestation and unhealthy soil cause erosion, and the runoff causes frequent flooding and
damage from sedimentation. In a 1997 study done off the coast of Costa Rica, it was discovered
that 60 percent of the coral reefs in Cahuita National Park had been severely damaged due to runoff
from coastal bananaplantations (Cohen, 2009). Furthermore, bananas are grown as a mono
culture, where all the bananas on a plantation are genetically identical. Although this makes
crops easy to manage, these bananas face an increased risk of being wiped out by a single type of
pest, fungi or disease, and will all be severely attacked if the pests develop resistance to
pesticides. In order to prevent this from happening even more chemicals are used. It is estimated
that 30 kilograms of pesticides are used per hectare per year on a banana plantation, whereas only
2.7 kilograms are used for the average European cereal crop (Cohen, 2009).
The banana field workers (also called bananeros ), often untrained, and marginalized workers, lack
sufficient precautionary instructions or protective equipments. According to Ivan Clavijos, an ex
conventional banana producer, despite wearing masks, goggles, and gloves, chemical gases can
still get absorbed in the workers clothes, and through sweats will enter the body, blood, and liver
via pores on the skin, producing ammonia in the blood, or can result in loss of sight, hearing, or
sterility, which he himself and many people he knows who work in banana

  • 3. Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960 s Essay Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960 s 1960 s Britain had not yet developed its own style and was still in America s shadow. Britain was dominated by 1950 s fashion and traditional values. But there were elements of change developing in radio, TV and theatre and this is what I m going to explore. At the beginning of the 1960 s music was still heavily influenced by America. During the 1950 s everyone was listening to Elvis Presley but by the late 1950 s / early 60 s new elements entered the music industry including new British artists. In 1959 Billy Fury, Cliff Richard and Adam Faith all appeared in the charts. They started to produce records basing their songs and styles on Elvis and his ... She opened the way for a new generation of British fashion. The third type of popular culture controlled by America was film. The British film industry was in decline. Most films in the cinema were American, such as West Side Story and Psycho . A new brand of film featuring pop stars interested lots of teenagers. 1960 saw the start of something new in cinema, the Carry On films. They showed a new British humour which people had never seen in films before. Other films were gritty and realistic, that showed the working class and set the scene for what was to come. In Britain, radio was also starting to show are more distinctive style. It became one of the main sources of entertainment with shows like The Goon Show . This surreal comedy became very popular. Another well liked radio show was Beyond the Fringe , a satirical comedy that criticized the way the country was run in a light hearted comedic way. • 4. Family Members Of Palliative Or End Of Life Patients Family members of palliative or end of life patients tend to be very stressed about their loved one and are often worried about the outcome, whether the circumstances were foreseen or not. Due to a family member being incapable of carrying out normal roles, there are shifts in the family s identity and function of roles in their daily routines (Brier, Del Gaudio, Kissane Zaider, 2011). Many families show significant resilience and adaptation when facing stress such as this, but a substantial minority of families become highly distressed when a familymember has palliative or end of life illness, condition, or acute event (Brier et al., 2011). This stress and worry can lead to grief and bereavement before and after death. This causes coping mechanisms to begin functioning for the family members at the time of diagnosis or discovery or imminent end of life. Each is family member is different and some may have a more difficult time in dealing with the death of their loved one. These coping strategies related to grief will be further discussed as it pertains to the family. Family Coping With Palliative and End of Life Family Members Palliative and end of life care is not the same term. Palliative care is a longer process than end of life care and extends for months to years and may include attempted treatments to cure an illness throughout that time and focuses on improving the quality of life for the patient and their families (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, Tabacco Hanson, ... They come from different worlds yet balance each other out in the best ways possible. A main concern explored throughout the novel is the difference between Jacob and Josie. Throughout the novel, individuals who play an important role in Josie s life point out that Jacob isn t her type. Both are shocked to find each other attractive, yet they both inspire each other. They both mutually understand there s more than meets the eye. Jacob is special to Josie, they come from the same class and Josie learns to get rid of bias of identity with his help and better to answer the question of who she really is. This dynamic duo can relate to a lot of young individuals who are in committed relationships. Amnesty International documented 2,946 executions in the 12 months following Bani Sadr s impeachment, a conservative figure because the authorities did not report all executions. The pace of executions slackened considerably at the end of 1982, partly as a result of a deliberate government decision but primarily because, by then, the back of the armed resistance movement had largely been broken. The radical opposition had, however, eliminated several key clerical leaders, exposed vulnerabilities in the state s security apparatus, and posed the threat, never realized, of sparking a wider opposition movement. The party was proscribed, and Kianuri confessed on television to spying for the Soviet Union and to espionage, deceit, and treason. Possibly because of Soviet intervention, none of the leading members of the party was brought to trial or executed, although the leaders remained in prison. Many rank and file members, however, were put to death. By 1983 Bazargan s IFM was the only political group outside the factions of the ruling hierarchy that was permitted any freedom of activity. Even this group was barely tolerated. For example, the party headquarters was attacked in 1983, and two party members were assaulted on the floor of the Majlis. However, even though the building of the railroad was a dangerous and a long construction, it created employment for thousands of Chinese workers. Not only did they provide cheap labour for their employers, but would also do the jobs Canadians would not. Just as shown in the Heritage Minute, the Chinese workers were used to blow up rock with the explosive nitroglycerin. As mentioned in the Heritage Minute, it is said that for every mile of the railway, one Chinese worker died. • 9. The Roman Calendar System During The Roman Republic Since ancient times, calendars have been a vital part of civilization. Calendars divided time over extended periods and arranged them in order, making them convenient for regulating daily life, religious holidays, and for historical and scientific purposes (Calendar). Throughout history, humans have used signs offered by nature, such as the phases of the Moonor the movement of the Sun, as the basis for various calendar systems (Calendar). However, when people aimed to improve previous calendars, they were driven to do so not only by the desire to be astronomically accurate but also by the politics of the time. Politics affected both the motivation for calendar reform and the implementation of these new systems. Authority figures were primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Roman Republic, a group of priests called pontifices held the responsibility of shortening February and inserting a new month into the year (Wigelsworth). However, these authorities were not always effective; in times of war, when the group of priests did not meet regularly, the calendar fell out of line (Aldrete). Roman priests ultimately did not care about the accuracy of the calendar and were motivated by their own political interests; sometimes, they even altered the calendar to reduce or extend the terms of certain public officials (Roman Republican Calendar). Though the objective was at first to have a calendar accurate to natural events, the people who implemented reform had ulterior motives, hindering the effectiveness of the proposals they were responsible for. Though it was vital for the Roman government to serve the gods by celebrating religious festivals at the right time, the government clearly did not always do its duty (Emmons). 1 Indeed, cosmetic edits to the calendar honored the power of authorities. • 10. The Valley Children s Hospital General Description The Valley Children s Hospital apartments and condominiums are intended to reduce or eliminate the commute of the hospital staff that would prefer to have suitable living closer to work. Therefore, placement of the apartment complex would need to be nearby Valley Children s Hospital. The proposed complex would be one to two stories tall, depending on demand and space constraints. Therefore timber, more specifically Douglas fir, is the best choice for construction material. There will, however, be an athletics facility that will be composed of steel. Since the hospital is located on Childrens Blvd, a direct road must travel from the apartment complex to that road or any adjacent roads that lead to Childrens Blvd. Additionally, adequate parking must accommodate all tenants as well as possible guests, while adhering to handicap laws. Considering that the majority of the land surrounding the hospital is undeveloped, proper plumbing, gas lines, and electrical conducts will need to be installed. Location The characteristics of the site where the apartment/condominium complex will be built play a significant role in the development of the same. Therefore, in order to determine the most suitable location for the construction of the project, a profound analysis of the potential locations must be carried out. A research process will be necessary to determine the characteristics of every proposed location. The factors to be considered during the selection ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We began the lab by obtaining object C and recorded the physical properties of the substance. Next, the object was placed onto a scale to determine the massin grams (56.56g). We used a ruler to measure the radius of the base (.6cm) and the height (5cm) of the cylinder shaped substance. • 14. Related Literature Of Blindness Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature Blindness may be perceived differently among individuals. It can be a blessing or a curse. It may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016). Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment. Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson, 2014). Blindness not only means the lack of vision but also the lack of intellectual perception. In our everyday life it can cost a lot. However, it has hardly achieved any tangible results. The Pakistani army, which supersedes it s elected government, diverted these funds towards anti India terror factions for covert proxy wars due to it s historic rivalry with India. These terror factions carried out the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, attracting censure from Pakistan s civilians and international condemnation at a time when US strategic convergence with India was growing. Eventually, the Pakistan army lost control over some of these terror groups, who linked up with al Qaeda, Talibanand more recently, the Islamic State, across the porous Afghanistan border. In light of pressure from the US and it s growing non state actors, the Pakistan military attempted to curb these groups but failed. Consequently, these groups pledged alliance to one of al Qaeda, Taliban or the Islamic State and amped up terror attacks within Pakistan. This reached the tipping point in December 2014, when members of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan killed 243 children in an army school. In response, the Pakistani army killed 3500 terrorists of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan and other internal terror factions in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) near the Afghanistan border, over the last two years. • 16. A Brief Note On Diabetes And Its Effects On Diabetes Essay Diabetes Policy This paper focuses on people with diabetes. Diabetes occurs when there is impaired ability by the pancreas to produce enough insulin, or the body loses its ability to utilize the insulin produced by pancreas effectively. Consequently, the body fails to regulate the level of glucose in the blood. The failure to control glucose leads to episodes of hyperglycemia, especially after a meal. Diabetes is one of the chronic conditions that account for the largest morbidity rates globally. According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015), approximately 29.1 million people living in the United States had diabetes. Out of this number, about 21.0 million people were diagnosed. The remaining 8.1 million cases were undiagnosed. According to the World Health Organization (2016), the prevalence of diabetes among adults aged over 18 years was 8.5% in 2014. The prevalence had increased from 4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014. The increased has been most significant among the middle and low income countries. This has mostly been explained by the changes in income distribution in those countries. In other words, the proportion of people who have had an increase of revenue has increased significantly in the middle and low income countries. People with diabetes lack the ability to regulate the level of glucose in the blood. Consequently, whenever they eat, their blood glucose level rises above the normal maximum limit leading to hyperglycemia. Poorly controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To better prevent cardiovascular disease, the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Advisory Committee stated that adults should complete about 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity weekly (Barry, Blair, Church, Hooker, Sui, Warren, 2010). Research has shown that meeting these recommendations is linked with lower cardiovascular disease risk, as well as reduced risk of mortality. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that only about 20.3% of Americans meet these guidelines. These statistics show that the majority of the United States population does not get nearly the amount of physical activity they need. However, even though many people are not doing the recommended amount of physical activity, this may not mean that they are living a sedentary life. Living a sedentary lifestyle is ... The CCP controls the outflow of information released by the media, due to such control over media outlets, China is able to manipulate any situation in order to gain support and sympathy. In reference to the Global Conflict Tracker, by China labeling the Uyghurs as a radicalized population it leads to the connotation that the Uyghurs are associated with either the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) or the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) posing a direct terrorist risk to China (Darker blue). By China attempting to gain international support via identifying terrorist organizations within the PRC it allows China to address that this problem is not just a problem for China but also other countries who s enemies are terrorist organizations example, the United States and its fight against ISIS. Although this may seem as a benefit for China and its aims to integrate Xinjiang, for the Uyghurs it labels them as a potential terrorist organization; hence, limiting their ability to tell their side of the narrative and gain international sympathy limiting their ability to gain international support and address how the CCP is marginalizing the Uyghurs. Although in recent years the number of households that have no one working in them and that were in poverty has declined, so it can be seen that in some cases work is not the route out of poverty. The Celts were widely spread through Europe from the British Isles to Galatia more commonly known today as Austria, Switzerland, southern France and Spain, these areas consisted of multiple different political organisations ruled by various leaders. For example, if a new studentwere to contact the CONNECTIONs Orientation office and ask about their housing, the department secretary should either know how to answer the question, or know who to connect the student with. The Importance Of War In Poems Good morning class, this morning/ afternoon I will be discussing how war is represented within society and how text structures and stylistic devices help to emphasise war within poems. I will be reading and analysing the poems Perhaps by Vera Brittain in 1919 and In Flanders Fields by John McRae in 1915. Perhaps and In Flanders Fields are both a Lyric poem and are about the feelings of grief and sorrow for loved ones lost in war. Perhaps was written by V. Brittain in response to the death of her late fiancГ© Roland Aubrey Leighton, who was killed at the age of 20 by a sniper in 1915, only four months after she had accepted his marriage proposal. In Flanders Fields was written by J.McRae in response to the death of his friend and fellow soldier Lieutenant Alexis Helmer killed In action on the 2nd of May 1915. The theme of these poems is loss. This theme is explored through the poet s use of tone and mood, the poetic techniques used and the social comment the poem makes. Each of these will be discussed in detail today. The theme of perhaps is emphasised through the tone and mood of the poem. The moods of the poem are sadness and grief. This is created through the use of repetition, enjambment and alternate rhyme. Both Owen and Dawe served in the military and were controversial condemners in all that they penned on World War One and the Vietnam War respectively. Despite this, these texts do not explicitly state these views, but rather evoke the sympathy of the audience utilising subtle poetic techniques including contrast, flesh imagery and deathimagery. These shadows, however, do not simply pass over untouched land but the countryside they have scarred; metaphorically envisioned as steaming chow mein and likened to Australia s knuckled hills and desert emptiness . The irony of this poem truly peaks when in spite of all his condemnation, Dawe momentarily admires the mash, the splendour of war, emphasising its eternal allure. The Purpose Driven Church is an excellent book written by Rick Warren (1995). This book gives the reader a glimpse of the critical things that should be considered in the church. Although, this may not be a blueprint to start a church, however, Warren provides his personal experience of starting a church and how the church grew like a living organism. Warren (1995) states, The key issue for churches in the twenty first century will be church health, not growth (p. 17). Warren (1995) states, a foundation is laid by clarifying in the minds of everyone involved exactly why the church exists and what it is supposed to do (p. 86). When people have an understanding of their purpose, it will induce cohesiveness in the ministry. It is vital for the leader to define the churches purpose, organize around them, and application is imperative. Therefore, once the church has reached a definitive purpose, it is time to carry out the Great Commission. Understanding the demographic area and who the church is going to serve with help with carrying out the purpose of the ministry. Therefore, when the church gets understanding of the people that they are going to target, it will help them to implore a strategic plan. According to Warren (1995), The more your target is in focus, the more likely it is that you will be able to hit it (p. 172). It is critical for the church create a process to work through their purpose. When there is a process to their purpose, it will help the purpose to be carried out daily. However, the ministry shouldn t focus on growing a church with programs but focus on growing people with a process (Warren, 1995). Warren (1995), emphasized that his deep conviction that anybody can be won to Christ if you discover the key to his or her heart (p. 216). It is the act of love that will help the purpose driven church to meet the people s needs. When the ministry has the people attending the church, it is the pastor s job to teach the principles of the Bible. It is the word of God that is going to change the hearts of the people. ... Is important for business leaders to recognize how climate and topography factors impacts different industries. Recognizing climate and topography could be of assistance for businesses venturing into the global business environment arena. Climate and topography are factors of huge importance when determining location and strategic planning. One of the industries most affected by climate and topography is the transportation industry. The same consideration, on a smaller scale, the electronics industry enjoys. The electronics industry is the combination of manufacturers of electronics products at different scales. Climatic considerations are very important to the electronics industry. The incorrect climatic condition could cause devastating effects for example Tribocorrosion involves mechanical and chemical /electrochemical interactions between surfaces in relative motion in the presence of a corrosive environment. Tribocorrosion phenomena are encountered in many technological areas where they cause damage to installations, machines, and devices. Often tribocorrosion damage is a problem for safety or for human health. In other applications tribocorrosion phenomena are put to good use in manufacturing. The chemo mechanical mechanisms of tribocorrosion are still incompletely understood, they involve the properties of contacting material surfaces, the mechanics of the contact and the corrosion conditions (D Landolt, 2006). The tribocorrosion example clearly illustrates how climate could directly affect the electronics industry. Topographic considerations are also directly linked to this industry. The incorrect topographic location chosen for a factory or distribution center could cause millions in loses to the industry. The electronics industry depends on strategic topographical locations for distribution, raw materials, and ease of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New social and political forces were seeking political power. These included the modern military and the labor movement that emerged from the growing urban working class. The military ousted Argentina s constitutional government in 1943. Peron, then an army colonel, was one of the coup s leaders, and he soon became the government s dominant figure as minister of labor. Elections carried him to the presidency in 1946. He aggressively pursued policies aimed at giving an economic and political voice to the working class and greatly expanded the number of unionized workers. In 1947, Peron announced the first five year plan based on nationalization and industrialization. He presented himself as a friend of labor and assisted in establishing the powerful General Confederation of Labor (CGT). Peron s dynamic wife, Eva Duarte de Peron, known as Evita (1919 1952), helped her husband develop his appeals to labor and women s groups. Women obtained the right to vote in 1947. Peron won reelection in 1952, but the military deposed him in 1955. He went into exile, eventually settling in Spain. In the 1950s and 1960s, military and civilian administrations traded power. They tried, with limited success, to deal with diminished economic growth and continued social and labor demands. When military governments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. A Note On Crime Prevention Crime Prevention Businesses that use a cash drawer, can be particularly susceptible to employee theft. Cash is always a higher temptation because it is easy to take and easy to hide and difficult for employers to trace. Still, there are quite a few processes that can be put into place to dissuade employees from stealing and from the business. A few options include: 1)Separate Cash Drawers At the beginning of every shift a counted cash drawer should be given to each cashier. This provides a definitive starting amount for reference. Each cashier should be responsible for their own individual drawer. Shared drawers will make it impossible to pinpoint which employee might be the one stealing if a situation occurs. 2)Verifying Cash Drawer Counts Each cashier should count the cash in the drawer provided to them at the beginning of the shift. After counting, the employee must sign the register tape to confirm that the cash amount and the sales tape are in balance. This prevents discrepancies regarding the amount a drawer had when the shift began. 3)Mid shift Readings At some point during each shift, without advanced notice, a manager should take the current drawer and provide a new drawer to each cashier. A sales report should be run on the used drawer to verify that it is in balance. This measure will prevent cashiers from storing stolen cash in the drawer during their shift. A second drawer swap should periodically be conducted as well to prevent predictability of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Nature Versus Nurture Has Been A Big Debate In The Past Nature versus nurture has been a big debate in the past few years. Debates and arguments from both sides has its own statements which makes their side stronger. Some argue that it is in the genetics if a person is intelligent where some state the opposite, that surroundings make a person intelligent which improves them in a person mentally and physically. In the 1950s psychologist Harry Harlow studied the effects of maternal deprivation on the development of baby monkeys. Some philosophers such as Plato and Descartes suggested that certain things are inborn (Saul McLeod, 2007), or that they occur naturally regardless of environmental influences. Other examples of nature debates were Bowlby s 1969 theory of attachment likewise Chomsky s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dizygotic twins show a higher correlation than their other siblings even when reared apart supporting the theory that nature does have a major influence on human intelligence. Nurture intelligence is another factor which is still unfolded. Some believe that upbringing a child in a proper environment can effect their mood, body and their views towards to world. If someone s brought up in an environment where he or she gets all the facilities and necessities of daily life, it will help through the entire life, in saying that if the person receives the correct surroundings, family support, supportive friends circle, it can help them throughout the journey of life. Family habits, interests and company of good people as mentioned above will leave a significant effect on the person s development. The nature theory holds the genetic influence over abstract traits however, the environmental factors are the real origins of our behaviour. We want to be according to the environment around us. At the end we are still confused which way is right nature or nurture since both sides have valid reasons to be right. Some traits come to us by genes and some we experience through travelling and experiencing different situations in our lifetime, which is a proven fact. Nurture helps shape our intelligence in the sense that what surrounds us is what we end up liking and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Friedman When using Chanel s cosmetics, when drinking Danone yogurt with breakfast, when driving Ford motor the way home, global brands which are highly visible symbol of the increasing integration of world market, could been discovered around everywhere. As Thomas L. Friedman (2005) states, World is flat! , which means world is being shrunk by the spreading of globalisation. Globalisation, a result of social development, can be described as the increase in cross broader trade and influence on the economic and social behaviour of nation states (David Begg, 2003:272). This process has affected the world widely and deeply, principally in economics, industrial, technological, political and cultural aspects. Over the past decade, as the liberalization of national and openness of global markets, globalisation has benefitted the world significantly, such as income improved, increase of imports and exports, industrial development, thus, free flow of trade, capital and information have produced the best outcome for growth and human welfare. Therefore, it is little doubt that globalisation has positive impact on developed and developing countries. When it comes to China, ever since it formally joined WTO, great benefits has been gained from the international trade while a huge boost to the collaboration with other countries. • 46. Teaching Styles Within The Classroom Teaching Physical Education today is more intricate than most people might think it is or was years ago. Classrooms today include students of a very large spectrum. This can include students who learn visually, auditory, by being hands on or even students who participate in adaptive classrooms. Basically, every student in any classroom seems to learn slightly differently than their classmate these days. Too many teachers are avoiding including multiple teaching styles in their classrooms due to the potential increase in effort and preparation that follows, but it is crucial that Physical Educators are aware of the importance of teaching styles in the classroom. A teacher who can properly incorporate multiple teaching styles into their classrooms is an example of a successful and effective teacher. Students in today s physical educationclassrooms vary greatly among great levels. In order for teachers to effectively teach every single one of their students, they need to incorporate different teaching styles into their daily routine. One example of a teaching style is the direct teaching style. The direct teaching style is the most commonly used teaching style in Physical Education classrooms, so it can also be considered the most effective in a normal classroom setting. Direct teaching, or otherwise known as Command style teaching is self explanatory in the fact that it the most command like style. • 48. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bananas deforestation and unhealthy soil cause erosion, and the runoff causes frequent flooding and damage from sedimentation. In a 1997 study done off the coast of Costa Rica, it was discovered that 60 percent of the coral reefs in Cahuita National Park had been severely damaged due to runoff from coastal bananaplantations (Cohen, 2009). Furthermore, bananas are grown as a mono culture, where all the bananas on a plantation are genetically identical. Although this makes crops easy to manage, these bananas face an increased risk of being wiped out by a single type of pest, fungi or disease, and will all be severely attacked if the pests develop resistance to pesticides. In order to prevent this from happening even more chemicals are used. It is estimated that 30 kilograms of pesticides are used per hectare per year on a banana plantation, whereas only 2.7 kilograms are used for the average European cereal crop (Cohen, 2009). The banana field workers (also called bananeros ), often untrained, and marginalized workers, lack sufficient precautionary instructions or protective equipments. According to Ivan Clavijos, an ex conventional banana producer, despite wearing masks, goggles, and gloves, chemical gases can still get absorbed in the workers clothes, and through sweats will enter the body, blood, and liver via pores on the skin, producing ammonia in the blood, or can result in loss of sight, hearing, or sterility, which he himself and many people he knows who work in banana ...
