HCA255 Health Care Access
Health Care Access in Arizona
Heidi Haugen
Grand Canyon University: HCA 255

Health Care Access in Arizona Recently the Untied States top priority has been to provide
accessible and affordable health care to every American. Those that lack access to coverage find it
much more difficult to seek proper treatment and when they do they maybe left with astronomical
medical bills. The CommanWealth Fund found that one third or thirty three percent of Americans
forgo health care because of costs and one fifth or twenty percent are thus left with medical bills
that have problems being able to pay. The federal government, through the Affordable Care Act
(2010), has mandated that every person have health coverage in order ... Show more content on

Governor Brewer also planned on taxing hospitals in order to receive funds for the program. Her
reasoning in doing so is because Arizona already charges a two percent insurance premium tax and
a provider tax on nursing homes (Roy, A. 2013). She also feels that by expanding Medicaid,
hospitals will start to receive payment for services that would have otherwise not been paid for
by those who are uninsured. For those adults with children that are not eligible for Medicaid but
their income is not enough for private insurance, KidsCare was an option until it froze in January
2010 due to a cost cutting effort. KidsCare is a state sponsored insurance program for low income
families that is part of the federal Children s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Arizona is
currently the only state that does not have a CHIP program which forces families that were on the
program to partake in the health care exchange and pay for private insurance or forgo health
coverage and be uninsured (Whiteman, M., 2014). The number of children covered at the time of
the program freeze went from 45,000 to about 2,000, which was a ninety five percent drop
(Whiteman, M., 2014). Governor Jan Brewer proposed to restore coverage to thousand of children
through KidsCare II, where Phoenix Children s Hospital, Maricopa Integrated Health System, and
the University of Arizona Health Network would pull money together and receive extra federal
funds. The federal funds that the

Conflict Between A Register Nurse And A License Practice...
As human being we all think, feel, behave and perceive life in different ways as we all have
different expectations. Conflict is part of life and it can be part of any situation. Especially in
nursing field where working as a team is highly emphasized, every member of the team
collaborate together in order to meet patient needs and improve patient outcomes. That being said,
nurses have to collaborate with coworkers that have different social groups, ethnic, and
educational backgrounds. This paper will give a synapsis about a disagreement that happens
between a register nurse (RN) and a license practice nurse (LPN) in a forty bed medical surgical
unit with sufficient staff coverage with RNs LPNs and UAPs. As the manager of this unit, while...

She make the assumption that LPN has completely ignored her. The issue was approach from a
criticizing angle that immediately lead to a defensive response by the LPN. The RN did not
asked the reason why this LPN was not able to help the patient but she jumped in the conclusion
that the LPN was not helping her in purpose. Furthermore, in this tensioned situation it seems
like there is process conflict between two of the nurses. Huber, 2015 defines process conflict as
a conflict pertains to issues of duty and resource delegation, such as who should what and how
much responsibility different people should have (p. 172). This confusion between the team
members it is revealed sentences when the RN tells the LPN that it was your job, you are
assigned to Mrs. J. And the LPN responds to here that I do my own work and part of yours. To
better assist patient in medical field, nurses might collaborate and work in team. The RN is fully
competent in delegating the appropriate tasks to LPN or UAP, yet she has to make sure to transmit
her tasks by using clear communication, being concise on what she wants to be completed, and
within what time frame the task has to be completed. She can delegate certain tasks to other staff
members such as LPN or UAP; however, she is accountable for what happens to the patient. Both
the nurse delegator and the delegate must agree in the task and report back the completion

Rhetorical Analysis Of Introduction In The Assault On...
The Introduction in the Assault on Reason by Al Gore unveils the undermined matter of the
public not being adequately informed and addressing how the democratic system in the America
is deteriorating. His remarks impact the readers with the usage of anaphora, simile, alliteration
and fallacy. Gores purpose is to give his visionary truth as a member of the governmental system.
He gives a revealing and explanatory tone in order to help the public reestablish their own
administrative rule as a citizen and protect democracy from future corruption. Gore uses anaphora
to make it apparent that there is a distortion in media. He points blame on the people of America
by using the repetition of we when stating that the tactics in our legislation are not at fault. (2) The

Observation of a Non-Certified Satff Member Implement a...
The purpose of this assignment was to observe a non certified staff member implement a
program designed by a behavior analyst. Ethical issues that were observed, or potential ethical
issues that could arise will be discussed and how they relate to the Behavior Analyst Certification
Board s (BACB) ethical guidelines. Following the discussion of ethical situations will be
possible solutions to prevent ethical dilemmas from occurring while practicing as a behavior
analyst. Finally, this paper will conclude with the observer s personal reaction. Summary of
Observation The observation took place in a self contained classroom in a public school. Within
this classroom the student ranged from first grade and the oldest was in sixth grade. During the
time of the observation two learners remained in the classroom and the observer was told that
those learners spend the majority of their day in this setting. Three other learners participate in
the self contained classroom as well as an inclusive setting for parts of the day. The time spent in
inclusion was not observed. One learner was working one to one with a staff member who was
administering and taking date on discrete trials. The staff member would present stimuli, in this
case it was a math equation, the learner made a response, and depending on whether or not the
response was correct the learner would receive verbal praise or an error correction procedure was
implemented. While observing this particular student it was

How to Deal with Temper Tantrums
Children are the bundles of joy of each family. Having a child in a family means laughs, jokes,
playing, and a fun time with this child. No matter how bad the day was, as soon as parents see
their child smiles, they forget all about the bad day, and smile back at their child. In fact, some
parents wish to stay 24 hours with their children to enjoy their first smiles, first laughs, first words,
and first steps. For most of them, all their time with their children is enjoyable, except one particular
time. When children throw tantrums, when a child whines, cries, screams, throws him/herself on
the floor, and maybe runs out of the house with no known reason, most parents wish not to be in
their child s presence because of the screaming. Parents, in order to overcome these tantrums, deal
with their children in many different ways. However, the question remains asked over years: What
s the best way to deal with toddlers tantrums?
Some parents react to a tantrum with yelling and spanking the child to force him/her to stop crying,
but the more the parent yells, the more the child cries. In an interview with Cathy W, a motherof a
two and half boy, she states about her son, When Jove throws a tantrum, I used to respond to that
by yelling and him, and even spanking him. Then, I realized that my yelling and spanking don t
solve the problem; they make Jove cries more. In addition, in a survey between twelve parents, a
mother stated that she thought about changing her way of dealing

Nominating Process
The US Government textbook, an article, and my notes contain the essential information about
campaigns and elections. At the same time, that information might be too confusing and hard to
comprehend.Due to the fact that it is very crucial to know and be a part of political society , I
will try to explain it. In order to clarify that topic, I am going to provide a summary. As a result, by
using these three main sources, I will try to make the process of becoming a county s
representative, a la President, more coherent.
In order to make it work, I have divided this summary into two main sections which also have sub
sections. The first section is going to be about nominating process. In other words, I highlighted the
vital steps of becoming a nominee from a party. Its sub sections will include self announcement,
raising funds, running in primaries, etc. In the second section , I talked about general elections.
Which includes building coalition, debates, holding votes, and finally becoming a President of the
United States of America. Nominating Process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

common values and beliefs who try to get their candidates elected to political office.(McClenaghan,

Republicans or Democrats. There are five ways in which nominations are made in the United States.
They include self announcement, caucus, convention, direct primaries, and

How Does The Odyssey Relate To Life Today
A work of literature becomes important to us when we feel that it relates to our lives. The
Odyssey relates to life today in many ways, courage, trust, discipline, loyalty to family and
community, and obeying human or divine laws. In today s society courage, trust, and discipline are
very important, this is also true in the Odyssey. Odysseusshowed great courage with his plan of
blinding Polyphemus the cyclops, with a huge heated spear. Odysseus also showed trust in his
men when passing the singing sirens, trusting them to keep the bees wax in there ear and keep
him tied up against the mast of the ship. Odysseus also has great discipline and wisdom, when he
warns his men to leave the city of Ismarus after they plundered it, before the Cicones

Ever since I was old enough to dream, I have imagined myself soaring with the eagles. My love
of flying has sculpted the way I live and the person I have become. Two years ago that passion
rocketed to new heights when I had the opportunity to visit Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University in Arizona. For a whole week I lived in a college dorm, roomed with a total stranger,
and best of all I flew! My group took part in activities ranging from learning about the history of
aviation to flying in state of the art pilot training simulators. At least once a day, I strapped myself
into one of the world s best training aircraft, the Cessna 182. Not only did I receive thorough
ground instruction, but I also got to fly. In total, I logged five hours

The Obsatment Theory Of Edward Gein
Edward Theodore Gein was born on August 27th, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to an alcoholic
father and an extremely religious mother who taught him that sex was a sinful act an early age
and preached her religious teachings to both Ed and his brother. By 1915 Gein s mother had
decided to move the family to a farm in PlainfieldWisconsin and only let him go out in order to go
to school. Due to this, the main influence in his life was his mother. Once his mother died in 1945
Gein s obsessive attachment to her and her teachings would end up making him one of the most
heinous and notorious killers in American history. This essay will show how the attachment theory
is applicable in Ed Geins case. More specifically, how Gein s attachment to his mother and how
her death ultimately proved to be deadly. Gein s most influential childhood influence was his
mother Augusta who was a very strict and religious woman. Augusta despised her husband who
was an alcoholic and wanted to raise her children in a religious environment in order to keep
them away from a life of sin. Gein s father was unable to keep a steady job and finally decided to
move to a farm isolated from urbanization. ( A E Television Network, 2017) Gein s father would
both verbally and physically abuse him and his brother Henry as a result of alcoholism. Although
his mother would also verbally abuse him Gein idolized her. His mother used the opportunity the
farm presented in order to turn away anyone who she thought

How Levitation Can Be Performed
Levitation is a topic that cannot be explained because nobody knows how it works. Nobody
knows how levitation works but some theories are that it has to do with a magnetic force of
some sort, and there are others who think that there is no such thing as levitation and it s
somebody just hung by a string. The most well known way Levitation is know is because it is a
famous magic trick that magicians sometimes perform at shows. Another reason it is well known
is because it is in movies. One example of this is American magician Harry Kellar performed a
trick where his assistant, introduced as a Hindu princess, was brought onto the stage apparently
sleeping on a couch. He would then levitate her, passing a hoop back and forth along her body to

The most obvious way Levitation can be performed is by raising something up, but there are
many other ways that Levitation can also be performed like Magnetic Levitation can be used for
melting different things or for maglev train. A Maglev train is a public transport technology that
uses electric levitation to move vehicles with making contact with the ground or an electrical
pickup. Although Magicians are the most well known people to perform levitation the are not
the only ones to know how to use it. For many years, NASA scientists have used superconducting
magnets to levitate insects, frogs, and mice. There are many ways that Magnetic Levitation can
shape the future. Some examples are flying cars, magnetic bearings, and Studying
weightlessness. I believe that Levitation is real and that it can be performed for a number of
reasons. My first reason is that it has been proven that levitation can be Performed because NASA
made crickets and other insects levitate before. My second reason is if levitation really was fake
wouldn t people have already found it out about it and proved that

In his view, the entrepreneur is a revolutionary innovator that requires aptitudes that are present
only in a small fraction of the population (Schumpeter, 1946, p.132). These aptitudes include; a
strong intellectual capacity, drive and determination, creativity, and leadership skills (Schumpeter,
1934). Schumpeter (1934, p.74) states that the carrying out of new combinations we call enterprise
; the individuals whose function it is to carry them out we call entrepreneurs . Simply put,
Schumpeter views entrepreneurs as innovators; however, it is important to note that Schumpeter
(1934, p.88) only views those that commercially exploit their creations as innovators, declaring as
long as they [inventions] are not carried into practice, inventions are economically irrelevant. For
Schumpeter, it is the commercial exploitation of these new inventions, created by the innovators
that he refers to as entrepreneurs, which drive economic development (Fig.2). This is because, in
the process of exploiting this new creation, be it an invention or new production method, the
entrepreneur breaks the economy out of its static equilibrium, disturbing what

Nuclear Essay
The UK civil nuclear power industry initially started in 1946 followed by the establishment of one
of the world s first nuclear power plant in 1956 [23 24]. This commercial scale reactor was built in
southwest Scotland and given a name MAGNOX due to the fuel cladding (magnesium non
oxidising alloy) used to contain the fuels. The MAGNOX reactor uses natural uraniummetal fuel to
generate thermal energy while using graphite bricks to moderate the fast moving neutrons within
the core. Two types of graphite bricks are used in MAGNOX design; these are Pile Grade A (PGA)
and Pile Grade B (PGB). The former is used as a neutron moderator due to its high density and
lower neutron absorption, whereas the latter is mostly used as a reflector [23].... Show more content

Currently, there are fifteen operating reactors in the UK with a combined total output around 8883
MWe, and one under construction [27]. Fourteen of the fifteen operating reactors are AGRs and
located at seven different power stations, making the AGRs the most dominant nuclear reactors in
the UK. The remaining two reactors (including the one under construction) are based on PWR
design.
AGRs are the second generation of the UK nuclear power plants, and initially designed to improve
the steam cycle efficiency of the early reactor design (MAGNOX). This type of reactors exists
only in the UK and operated by EDF Energy (formerly British Energy). Since the AGRs first
operation in 1976 they have become the UK s most dominant reactor after showing an increased
economic benefits and steam cycle efficiency approximately 42% compared with MAGNOX
reactor, which has approximately 31% efficiency [25]. AGRs are capable of producing peak fuel
temperature approximately 800 В°C and the coolant gas temperature approximately 650 В°C at
40 bars. The steam generated by the AGRs can reach up to 540 В°C at 165 bar, which is capable of
driving the standard 660 MW turbines.

impact on the reactor

Multitasking Experiment and Results
Introduction Multitasking is part of everyday life. Daily routines from driving to work or school, to
coming home, involve people handling more than one task at a time. At what point is it too much
to handle before mistakes are being made? When someone answers a call on their cell phone while
driving, that is multitasking, and that has shown to be hazardous. When a student is instant
messaging and writing a paper at the same time, that is hazardous as well, but not in the way one
would immediately think. Heavy media use may be associated with decreased social well being
and could cause harm on young adults psychological functioning. Also, people who often multitask
with media such as the TV, the internet, etc, have shown instances in which there was a
diminished ability to effectively filter non important information cognitively. The usage of media
that college students use today has increased by at least 20% in the last decade (Alzahabi Becker,
2013). According to Stephen Monsell, everything people do requires a schema or task set to
perform that function. Mr. Monsell stated that we use executive control to pick and perform the
proper task set(s) that are necessary to complete our current goals or activities without being
distracted to complete other unnecessary goals or activities (Monsell, 2003). Executive Control or
Executive Function is a mental processthat connects past experiences people have had with present
actions they are going through. People use this when

Post Modernism Essay
The Sky is Gray by Ernest Gaines is a realistic example of a long epidemic has hovered over the
African American community like an dark storm cloud just waiting to burst. Personally, this story
called to me, like I was meant to read it. The mother in this short story reminds me of my own
mother. Stepping into that masculine role to show strength and provide for her family. Then,
teaching her son these harsh life lessons to ensure his survival in a society that is not welcoming to
an African Americanman; act rationally, not emotionally.
The story opens with the narrator that is later introduced to the reader as James, an eight year old
boy with an awful toothache. James tries his best to conceal this from his Auntie and mother,
Octavia. James truly admires his mama, however he has the misfortune awareness of the poverty
that his family suffers from. He is so gravely aware of the situation that he tries to conceal his pain
for a weeks span, only confiding in his younger sibling Ty.
Early on in the story, importance of strength and endurance is the first major theme that appears
abundantly clear in the text, when James recalls the happier times before his father joined the
Army and did not return from the war. Octavia would stay up later back in those days, and now
she would go to sleep immediately after a meal. James pulls from his stream of consciousness to
the a memory when his mother made him kill two

The Impact of Contemporary Urban Planning Principles and...
Since the 1950s, the cities of Saudi Arabia witnessed significant changes in the composition of the
population and the arrangement of the built environment. The Saudi society has transformed from a
nomadic pastoral society to a highly modernized one as a result of the increase in national revenues
from oil production. Rapid growth and improved economic conditions led to the adoption of
modern planning principles which are in contrary to the traditional city. Although modernization

lived a state of poverty, starvation, lack of resources and the most important of all, lack of security.
The region began a new phase after the unification of the Kingdom and the spread of security. Walls
of the city lost its importance. A number of neighbourhoods were established outside the city walls,

Vertical Integration at Sony
Vertical Integration
Back in 2002, Sony geared themselves toward a vertical strategy as reported by Rob Weisenthal,
VP and CFO of Sony Corp. of America, Under the USA umbrella, we undertook a number of
vertical initiatives for each operating division. These have already produced significant operational
streamlining and financial performance improvements. As discussed in his release, Weisenthal
talked about Sony Pictures Entertainment and their strategy to restructure television operations,
where core programming competencies were focused on. Film and television digitalization efforts
have been expanded and have engineered a significant reduction in their corporate overhead. In

Symptoms And Treatment Of Therapy
Would you send electric pulses through your brain to relieve mental illness? There is a treatment
that can help. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) can suppress or even cure some mental illnesses,
but there are risks with the procedure. Shock Therapy is a treatment used to adjust a patient s
brain function in psychiatric disorders. There is different kinds of shock therapy, including
Electroconvulsive Therapy, Insulin Therapy and Hydrotherapy. The risks range from muscle
stiffness to memory loss, with the worst being long term memory loss, which can be permanent.
The most common side effects are chronic headaches and migraines but they are not forever. This
treatment is not just side effects and bad news. ECT can dramatically improve depression. ECT
can also help medicate other mental illnesses such as: schizophrenia, Alzheimer s, and
melancholia. This is not the only way to treat mental illness. There is a multitude of ways you can
treat yourself or get treatment. To some this treatment is the best thing that could have happened to
them. But in others the results were minimal. The visits are not long, but the treatment can last for
several months. ECT is the introduction of electric current through one or two electrodes attached
to the temples to deliver electrical impulses to the brain. This will result to a tonic seizure of 5 to
15 seconds after 70 to 130 volt current applied in 0.1 to 0.5 seconds up to a maximum of 2
seconds. The most common frequency of treatment is 6

Oil Drilling in the Arctic
The Coastal Plain of the Arctic Refuge is one of America s last great wilderness areas. It is home
to many animals such as polar bears, wolves, and grizzly bears, caribou herds, snow geese, musk
oxen, and dozens of other species. If your oil companies keep drilling in the Arctic, most of these
beautiful creatures will die, and some will become extinct.
The Coastal Plain is home to these animals. Annually, a herd of 129,000 caribou gather on the
Coastal Plain to bear and nurse their young. Polar bears rely on the Coastal Plain as their most
important on land denning habitat. Musk oxen, grizzly bears, wolves, wolverines, foxes, golden
eagles, and snowy owls gather here to hunt and den. In the fall, the Coastal Plain supports up to

Oil is very important in our world. But we should be able to come up with some alternate
methods of getting oil, or even better, alternate resources. There has already been an alternate
way to produce oil already invented. This process is known as the Fischer Tropsch process,
which converts coal into crude oil. It was a concept pioneered in Nazi Germany when imports of
petroleum were restricted due to war, and Germany found a method to extract oil from coal. It
was known as Ersatz ( substitute in German), and accounted for nearly half the total oil used in
WWII by Germany. However, the process was used only as a last resort as naturally occurring
oil was much cheaper. As crude oil prices increase, the cost of coal to oil conversion becomes
comparatively cheaper. The method involves converting high ash coal into synthetic oil in a
multistage process. Ideally, a ton of coal produces nearly 200 liters of crude, with by products
ranging from tar to rare chemicals.
The solution to America s energy problems will be found in American ingenuity, not more oil.
We need to reduce our reliance on oil, and invent cleaner, renewable forms of power that will be
just as effective as oil. We already have many of the tools we need to accomplish this. For
example, Detroit has the technology right now to produce high performance hybrid cars, trucks and
SUVs. If America made the transition to these more efficient vehicles, far more oil would be saved

Melancholia Depression
Melancholia: Depression on Film Melancholia is defined as a mental condition characterized by
extreme depression, bodily complaints, and often hallucinations and delusions. Lars von Trier
wrote the film during his own episode of severe depression, and noted the tendency of the
depressed to remain peaceful during catastrophic events. To reflect this detached sense of reality,
Lars Von Trier rejected his rigidly realistic Dogma 95 principles for a dreamlike aesthetic that
represents the depressed mind of the main character Justine (played by Kirsten Dunst). He splits the
film into two parts with each part named after one of the main characters. Part one is named after
Justine and takes place during the night of her wedding reception. Justine... Show more content on

The most graphic allusion is when Justine, in her wedding dress and with a bouquet of flowers,
is floating lifeless down a stream of water. This is a recreation of John Everett Millais painting
entitled Ophelia. Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare s Hamlet, is perhaps the most famous
depressive in all of literature. Justine embodies this image of being trapped and detached from
loved ones, through her emotionless and dead eyed expressions. Justine and Claire both try to
escape during the film but they both fail; therefore, they are literally trapped on the mansion
property, which gives an increasing sense of hopelessness and dread. Richard Wagner s song,
Prelude to Triston and Isolde, is played as a haunting refrain throughout the film. The song mixes
depression with beauty and desire, like how the beautiful aesthetic of the film mixes with the
hopelessness on screen. I appreciate that Lars von Trier rejects end of the world movie clichГ©s,
and instead shows something deeper and more poetic. The end of the world is experienced through
the broken Justine and Claire, and not shown through massive destructions of major cities and mass
hysteria. The end of the world is a fiercely intimate and unescaping event, instead of a time filled
with last minute hook ups and hedonistic bucket lists. It is interesting to watch how Justine and
Claire react to the knowledge of their impending

The Cretaceous-Paleogene Boundary Essay
The Cretaceous Paleogene Mass Extinction
Wil Creasy Student Number: 20921355
The Cretaceous Paleogene boundary (K Pg boundary) was host to one of the three largest mass
extinctions in the past 500 million years. Evidence suggests it was the result of a large asteroid
impact approximately 65.5 million years ago in Chicxulub, Mexico; hence why the crater it formed
was named the Chicxulub crater. The crater was approximately 180 kilometres in diameter and was
believed to have led to the extinction of the dinosaurs amongst many other life forms including
marine plankton (calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera) (Schulte et al., 2010).
Furthermore, it had a number of impacts on the atmosphere and environment including the creation
of sulfuric acid rain and stratospheric dust cloud formations. ... Show more content on

The deposit included a millimeter thick red clay layer that includes an iridium anomaly, ejecta
spherules and nickel rich spinel (Schulte et al., 2010). The age of the deposit coincides with the
time of the mass extinction. It is coincidences such as this that have led scientists to believe that the
mass extinction and the Chicxulub impact are related.
The Yucatan 6 borehole provided significant evidence to suggest that there was an impact event
that took place. The composition of the melt rock was believed to have been the result of an
impact rather than volcanic events (Kring and Boynton, 1992). What allowed scientists to confirm
this, was the surviving clasts of target rock they discovered within the melt, were similar to that
seen In the Manicouagan impact crater. (Kring, 2007) Furthermore, these clasts were said to be
composed of shocked quarts and feldspar, which are indicative of an impact

The Effects Of Technology On The Human Mind
As time continues on, technology slowly grows as a bigger part of people lives every day. In the
Back to the Future film series, people truly thought that by this time in the 21st century, 2015, the
world would hold some of the greatest technology yet, and humans have created some immensely
useful machines, but most people cannot step away from a tiny piece of tech that people call a
smartphone. They might be deemed as helpful but also damaging if taken advantage of. Albert
Einstein, a German theoretical physicist, once said, I fear the day that technology will surpass our
human interaction. People have begun to believe that this day has come upon us. Human s
involvement with smartphones has grown significantly, and this has begun a list of negative
effects on the human mind. Scientists have studied some of the many effects of the internet and
smart phones. Many people have noticed a growing change with cell phones and mental
disorders, and this has started to become a problem. Cell phones have many components, and
their link to mental disorders also holds many parts. The first part in the link between cell phones
and mental disorders classifies to all of their growing components, their causes and negative
effects, but people have started to find ways to put their phones down and others, and studies have
begun the help prevent even further damage. Cell phone growth has become a major problem in

Eloquent Feelings And Safe Places
Eloquent Feelings and Safe Places Stephen Dunn s poems makes sure to let the reader stop and
think, and as a creative writing teacher he knows how to do just that. Winner of awards such as the
Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, The James Wright Prize ,and the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary
Achievement , his work The Sacred , published back in 1989, shows off his literary genius in
normal experiences and captures the vehement thoughtin his writing that has captured many hearts
of the readers. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it
means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an
escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic
ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add
a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man
who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions
are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with .
The enjambment that pushes through the whole poem create a string of consciousness feeling, as if
a person in the class is slightly nervous to share his response. In the beginning of the poem, Dunn

You may have the same name as a grandparent or an ancestor. Or, you may have a biblical name,

Summary Of Beauty And The Beast
Jeanne Marie LePrince de Beaumont was a French Author that lived from April 1711 September
1780 in France. Her most well known story is her version of Beauty and the Beast that was the
base for the 1991 film, Beauty and the Beast . In Jeanne Marie s version of Beauty and the Beast
there is a rich merchant with six children who ends up losing all his money. On one of his job
trips he causes trouble with the Beast. Beauty takes his place as prisoner and in due time ends up
falling in lovewith the Beast. Jeanne Marie is able to continue her theme of being humble in the
version of a love story with a protagonist, Beauty, who remains virtuous throughout the entire story,
and the antagonists are Beauty s sisters who care too much about having money. The protagonist is
Beauty and remains the protagonist throughout the story. She gained her name when she was little
everybody admired her and called her the little Beauty (LePrince de Beaumont, page 1) and kept
the name growing up which aroused the beginning of jealousy that her older sisters have towards
her. Even in the story, it is revealed that the father felt Beauty outshone her sisters, in her person as
well as her mind, and admired her humility and industry, but above all her humility and patience
(LePrince de Beaumont, page 2). Her humility is shown in the story as she does not let the fortune
get in her head, especially after losing it. The characteristic industry shows through as she would do

The Great Gatsby And Tender Is The Night
The loneliest moment in someone s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart,
and all they can do is stare blankly. As mentioned by Fitzgerald, could it be true that even though
the people that are extremely wealthy could also lead a truly happy lifestyle? As a matter of fact,
it probably pleases one s ear to hear those words together in a sentence. But also maybe just
maybe leading a life with an endless supply of wealth and popularity doesn t necessarily lead the

Nick Carraway, a young aspiring bondsman looking to make some sales and along with that
mixes with up everyone else s affairs. As for Tender is the Night, it follows a problematic wife and
a husband who has questionable love interests where it switches on and off. In his two novels, The
Great Gatsby and Tender is the Night, American author F. Scott Fitzgerald
illustrates that certain
characters in the novels exhibit unhealthy, lavish lifestyles that are based on unwholesome values
of high society , which leads to their eventual downfall.
The characters in the novels are often corrupted or even blinded by the sight of money which
results in their downfall. They have a choice to do what they do but they choose the path which
would be a rather corrupted path. Daisy Buchanan s downfall is caused by her tendency

Here at Virgin Atlantic, we identify and meet customer needs through customer survey
questionnaires/ comment cards and customer forums/focus groups.
When the survey questionnaires or comment cards have been read by a member for our staff,
usually the customer service manager, they then analyse all of the comments to find areas of
improvement in order to meet customer needs.
For example, if a number of customers have complained about staff not knowing obvious
information i.e. directions around the airport, prices of products or check in times, that would tell
us that our staff are unequipped to help our customers.
From this, we will then need to realise and work our a way to get more information into our staff in
order to meet the needs of our customers more efficiently.
This can be done in many ways, however the most ideal one for this situation would be to hold
regular morning/afternoon meetings to keep staff updated with information.
When we exceed customer expectations, we like to go that extra mile by giving out customers
more in depth information. An example of this would be when a customer asks simply the time of
their flight, we like to make sure that our staff will fully inform our customers of their flight time,
boarding time, gate number and if there will be any delays.
At the Martime Museum (NMM) they meet and exceed

Comparing Love In The Canterbury Tales
Love in The Knight s Tale, Wife of Bath s Tale, and Franklin s Tale
The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer around 1386, is a
collection of tales told by pilgrims on a religious pilgrimage. Three of these
tales; The Knight s Tale , The Wife of Bath s Tale , and The Franklin s Tale ,
involve different kinds of love and different love relationships. Some of the
loves are based on nobility, some are forced and some are based on mutual
respect for each partner. My idea of love is one that combines aspects from each
of the tales told in The Canterbury Tales.

Grading Mechanics: Assigning Letter Grades Based on a Curve
Semester grades are determined by a curve. The nature of a curve is that your grade is based on
your performance relative to all other students in the class. It does not involve an absolute
standard, e.g., 90 100 = A, 80 90 = B, etc., which you may be used to from some other courses. I
believe that a curve is ultimately the fairest way to determine grades, since it does not set some
arbitrary absolute standard, but judges students on their performance relative to their peers.
With a curve, your grade is based on your percentile rank in the class, i.e., the percentage of students

The Use Of Symbolism In Traveling Through The Dark
Symbolism is used in everything from movies to stories, EVERYTHING. Symbolism is the use
of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Symbols can be used to describe or mean something
else. For example, empty pockets can be used as a symbol to describe not having any money. It
can be used in many different ways and forms. Symbols are used everyday and time are really
hard to notice what they truly mean. The following poems all use different symbols, but all stand
for deception the poems are Traveling Through the Dark by William Stafford, We Wear the Mask
by Paul Laurence Dunbar, Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and The Lotteryby Shirley
Jackson.
To begin with, the poem Traveling Through the Dark the car is symbolized as death. In real life
time a car is used as a form of transportation, but can also bring death to those involved in an
accident. The narrator states, Traveling though the dark I found a deer dead on the edge of the
Wilson river road (lines1 2). He says that he has found a dead deer on by the river that another
car might have hit before. This car that the narrator is in come be a sign of death coming again
to a unborn baby. He says, . . . then pushed her over the edge into the river (line18). After finding
the dead deer he decides to move the deer to prevent another accident, later to find out that an
unborn is still alive. He makes his way towards a cliff pushing off the dead and now dead baby
fawn to dispose of the bodies. Nordstrom comments, the car is certainly described as a death
bringer (Nordstrom). Nordstrom understands that death is disguised by a car and as the car
approaches the deer, its death making its way again. Next the poem named We Wear the Mask
deals with what slaves would relate to during the slavery having to cover up their true feelings.
A mask is used as a symbol as it is used to hide the true feelings of those who are in grief and
sorrow. In the poem it states, We wear the mask that grins and lies . . . (line 1). Right off the bat
the writer agrees to wearing a mask that does not show true emotions. The writer is most likely not
willing to show his or her true feelings, because during the time slaves were not supposed to be
happy and were not

A.Introduction: Software testing is a very important part of software development process. Software
testing is a very important part of software development process. Software testing is analysis of a

Projects that are to be testing at the same areas repeatedly.
Requirements that doesn t change frequently.

Availability of time.
D.How Automated Software Testing is done: Automated software testing is similar to that of
software development process. It goes through the same cycle as of software product in its
development. The most important thing that has to be taken into consideration is who is writing
the scripts. The most common problem with this script writing is on who will write the script,
will it be a developer or a member of the testing team. The best idea to write the script is by the
joint effort of the both the developers and testers.
There is a lot of effort involved in the collaborated work because there is a lot of time and money
invested into it. The automated process is divided into phases they are as follows. Finalization of
automated testing and making a plan for the test.
Tools and customization are selected.
Testing and Development of scripts.
Testing utilizing automated test scripts.
пѓЁFinalization of automated testing and making a plan for the test: In this phase the decision is
taken which tests should be automated and which should be manual, and then the test plan is made.
The automated software testing follows the same life cycle as of a software

Christianity And Lord Of The Rings Essays
If the study of literature shows nothing else, it shows that every author, consciously or
subconsciously, creates his (or her) work after his (or her) own worldview. Tolkien is no exception.
quot;I am a Christian... quot; he writes(1), and his book shows it. Christianity appears not as
allegory Tolkiendespises that(2) nor as analogy, but as deep under girding presuppositions,
similarities of pattern, and sharedsymbols.
That there should be similarities between the presuppositions of of The Lord of the Rings and
Tolkien s Catholic faith is to be expected given Tolkien s own views on Christianity and myth.
Regarding the gospel story Tolkien wrote, quot; The gospels contain a fairy story, or a story of a

Even is seen as perverted or fallen good. Perhaps the best expression of this characteristically
Judeo Christian viewpoint comes when Elrond, the high elf, says, quot;Nothing is evil in the
beginning. Even Sauron was not so. quot;(7)Evil is also seen as self destructive a theme which
cannot be divorced from scripture.(8)Evil is self blinded, too. That which it does in malice, that
which seems to be its greatest victory, proves to be its own undoing. No clearer illustration of this
truth is possible than Christ s resurrection which proved to be the surprising undoing of Satan s
greatest triumph. The fiend underwent a devastating and unlooked for humiliation in achieving this
victory.(9)It is akin to Sauron s defeat at the moment he was gloating in the stupidity of the march
of Aragorn and his meagre six thousand to the gates of Mordor.
Another aspect of evil developed in Tolkien is the insatiable hunger to possess, to rule, to
dominate. The Bible captures the same idea with pictures of locusts, of the sword, of wild beasts,
of striving kings, and of Satan going about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he might devour.
quot;Devouring quot; is an apt symbolization of insatiable lust. It closely parallels the Trilogy s

Fasting Feasting By Anita Desai
Anita Desai s novel Fasting, Feasting, is a two part novel set in the 20th century. The first part
is situated in India, while the second is situated in Western Massachusetts, in the United States.
Desai focuses very seriously on the theme of gender and social roles, particularly referring to
female characters. The author reveals that America s society, in those days, placed gender
expectations to its members, especially regarding to female beauty. The written task intends to
show how and why American women are represented through the character of Mrs Patton. This
is the reason why, in this essay I will analyse the first prescribed question, How and why is a
social group represented in a particular way? , of the topic Power and Privilege . In the text, Mrs.
Patton is the sister of Mrs. O Henry, the wife of Mr. Patton and the mother of Rod and Melanie.
Also, she is the one who invites Arun to stay with her and her familyin Western Massachusetts.

In several moments of the novel, such as in It seems to be frying in the sun because she has spread
quantities of oil over it where Mrs Patton is depicted sunbathing. At this point it is explicit that
women living in America are fascinated with hazardous grades of thinness and over tanning,
which are the ideals of female beauty. It is revealed that Mrs Patton seeks to keep herself cheerful
with the shopping and her sun bathing. What is more, this enthusiasm that Mrs Patton has with her
body image is also a concern to her children. It is shown that they both deal with the obsession of
thinness, however, they struggle to maintain skinny in different ways. Rod is always jogging, and
only eats late at night. Melanie, instead, is always eating fast food despite she never finishes

Handmaids
The true measure of a text s value lies in its ability to provoke the reader into awareness of its
language and construction, not just its content
The conceptual understanding of a good text revolves not only around its content, but also its
language and construction. This notion articulates profoundly within Margaret Atwoods novel A
Handmaid s Tale as it is, after all, the author s manipulation of the language and construction which
enacts as vehicles towards the reader s understanding of the content.
A Handmaid s Tale is a confrontational post modern work of feminist dystopian fiction; it depicts a
protagonist s struggle to adapt to a totalitarian and theocratic state where language has become
corrupted.
Without any doubt, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, The Handmaid s Tale is an example of a good text as it provokes the reader into
awareness of the construction of the novel as well as successfully putting forward the point the
author tries to make without making it appear too apparent.
The content, like the construction and language, is an essential device in which put forth the author
s intention of the novel, but in a more direct manner. The main themes held within the content of
The Handmaid s Tale comprise of not just the overall story itself, but also the character and the idea.
The narrator, Offred, is unquestionably the most noteworthy character in the novel where the
reader experiences the world of the Gilead through her eyes. However, the reader is not given an
in depth understanding of what Offred truly is like, as her only description of herself is being
thirty three years old , have brown hair and stand five seven without shoes . Through Offred s
vague description of herself, as well as by mentioning that she has trouble remembering what she
look like , suggests the idea of feminism in which Atwood tries to convey. This is evident through
Offred s depiction on the corruption of language and the non linear construction of her narrative
which evokes the restrictions placed on women, and thus, a perceptible clue which outlines the
author s concern to the rights and identity of women.
Hence, although the content of the novel is easier

And it was true. But it was not a grasping of a thin and burdensome recollection; this was

Riding to elsewhere on the sled, Jonas sees Christmas light and hears Christmas songs like the
memories, making him happy. Jonas noticed as they went downward. downward, sliding, and all
at once he could see lights, and he recognized them now. He knew they were shining through the
windows of rooms, that they were the red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from the trees in

Green Walls Documentary Summary
What is the purpose of the documentary? The purpose of the documentary was about implementing
green walls and to show people how integrating nature within our infrastructure will improve the
quality of life for humans, nature and our planet. This film was also created to change our
perspective of how we think about reintegrating nature in dense and fully developed communities
so that it not only fits into the functionality of our infrastructure but it also can restore our plants
and wildlife.
What is the main message the director wants to get across to the audience? The directors message
was that this is a movement that we all can afford to get behind. It will have nothing but positive
influences on our health, infrastructure and our plant and wild life. There was ... Show more content

I also have some knowledge about rooftop gardens prior to this course and I learned more from
earlier from other documentaries from the previous weeks.
What did you expect to see? I expected to see the film focus more on rooftop gardens or community
gardens. I did not expect to see the whole country so involved in creating green walls and rooftop
gardens all over. I also did not expect to see how much thought went into planning their parks to
make sure that they somehow connect that way wildlife has the ability to move around without
obstruction.
What questions did you have in mind about the subject? My only question and concern that I had
throughout the whole film was about how do they control pest? I know that in San Diego County
that anyone who has plants growing on their house or near the roof, they most likely will have
rodent issues. My question is, how can we create green walls or roof gardens in our communities
without having to fight of pest or have to use chemicals to drive them

Enthroned Madonna Vs Ossanti Madonna
After thoroughly reading Chapters one and two, it became transparent that both Enthroned
Madonna and Child and Ognissanti Madonna are nonetheless similar in size, structure and style.
Beginning with his work, the painting is roughly twelve feet tall. Cimabue used various leveled
scale with the indivduals in this piece (the idea that greater is better and generally critical).
Various leveled scale implies placing things all together of significance in respect to estimate. In
this piece the blessed messengers in the upper part don t number towards the various leveled scale
since it is just used between individuals, not celestial. The prophets at the base are from the old
confirmation. One approach to select prophets in works of art is that ... Show more content on

Giotto picked and masterminded his subjects deliberately. The larger than usual, forcing
Madonna, the grave, noble infant Jesus, and the mindful, devout holy messengers and holy
people at their feet are all similarly urgent parts of the artwork and, separately, appear to have
their very own existence. Maybe the most momentous part of the Ognissanti Madonna is Giotto s
amazing utilization of shading. With a conventional gold foundation, the gold of the blessed
messengers radiances and gold lines along the royal position, the sketch appears to sparkle in a
majestic, heavenly light. The warm greens and reds, diverged from the light pinks and purples,
serve to acculturate and help the generally profound, ethereal painting. Surface assumes a key part
in the Ognissanti Madonna, particularly in the characteristics of di Bondone s subjects. An
investigating take a gander at the composition uncovers the strikingly human like surface of the
fragile living creature and the painstakingly nuanced outward appearances of elegance, delight and
regard. The apparel, as well, exhibits di Bondone s careful scrupulousness. The thick, rich robes of
the Madonna fall reasonably between her legs, the free creases appearing to possess genuine space.

Descartes Myth Dorothy Ryle Analysis
The reading one has chosen to critically analyse is Gilbery Ryle s Descartes Myth .
Ryle is attempting here to undermine the Cartsian Dualism presnted by Descartes in the 17th
Century, whcih has since become the accepted answer to the Mind/Body Promblem, which Ryle
later refers to as the Dogma of the Ghost Machine . Ryle goes as far as to say that this dogma is
entirely false, not in it s details but in principle itself.
Ryle dubs this as The Official Doctorine which explains that the mind and body are seperate. The
Body being public and external where the mind in private and internal. This view pushes that the
mind and body are still connected however, explaining that what the mind wills the body does. The
Doctorine justifies this statememnt by explaining two kinds of existence; Pysical and mental
existence. Physical existence is necessarily in time and space, abides to physical laws, and is
matter. Mental existence is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ryle see s the Official Doctorine to represent the facts of the mental as if they were belonging to

This is due to a humans feelings and thinkings and doings cannot be described soley in physical
terms and so must be descibed in their negation. Not only this but as the human body is a
complicated unit, the mind must be another equally complicated unit, but made of a diffrent sort of
stuff and with a seperate structure.
One must argue back that this seems like an illogical step to take. Sure enough it follows from
Ryle s exampples that Descarte s theory could be read in this way, and that this is a possible
criticism. But to accack only the language involed in an argument seems fickle and accompleshes

The Cabin in the Woods Essay
The Cabin in the Woods 1. Joss Whedon says that The Cabin in the Woods is your basic horror
movie taken apart; five kids go to a cabin in the woods to have a fun weekend of partying and
possibly sex... and are therefore dismembered . Whedon and Goddard have in essence tried to
create a movie with roots tied to the horror genre; it is simply your common slasher movie where
the characters are killed off one by one till there is either one person left or none for that matter.
The Cabin in the Woods also has ties to other genres such as comedy, this can be seen in scenes
such as where they are all sitting around in the main room, playing truth or dare, and Jules is dared

Firstly, the two women, Jules and Dana, are defined as The Whore and The Virgin which is two
opposite ends of the spectrum whose deaths are meant to serve as bookends for the others. The
order of deaths is irrelevant except in the case of the women. Jules, as the corrupted whore, has
to die first, and Dana, the Virgin, has to die last, that s if she dies at all. As Hadley says, The
virgin s death is optional as long as it s last. The female characters are defined only by their
sexuality; nothing else about them really matters. In certain scenes Laura Mulvey s theory of
the male gaze is prevalent. When Dana is getting undressed in her room, Holden finds out that
he can see through a window into her room, but she can t. We see the camera follow Dana up
and down as she takes off her clothes, then the camera switches back round to Holden, who we

  • 2. HCA255 Health Care Access Health Care Access in Arizona Heidi Haugen Grand Canyon University: HCA 255 February 1, 2015 Health Care Access in Arizona Recently the Untied States top priority has been to provide accessible and affordable health care to every American. Those that lack access to coverage find it much more difficult to seek proper treatment and when they do they maybe left with astronomical medical bills. The CommanWealth Fund found that one third or thirty three percent of Americans forgo health care because of costs and one fifth or twenty percent are thus left with medical bills that have problems being able to pay. The federal government, through the Affordable Care Act (2010), has mandated that every person have health coverage in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Governor Brewer also planned on taxing hospitals in order to receive funds for the program. Her reasoning in doing so is because Arizona already charges a two percent insurance premium tax and a provider tax on nursing homes (Roy, A. 2013). She also feels that by expanding Medicaid, hospitals will start to receive payment for services that would have otherwise not been paid for by those who are uninsured. For those adults with children that are not eligible for Medicaid but their income is not enough for private insurance, KidsCare was an option until it froze in January 2010 due to a cost cutting effort. KidsCare is a state sponsored insurance program for low income families that is part of the federal Children s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Arizona is currently the only state that does not have a CHIP program which forces families that were on the program to partake in the health care exchange and pay for private insurance or forgo health coverage and be uninsured (Whiteman, M., 2014). The number of children covered at the time of the program freeze went from 45,000 to about 2,000, which was a ninety five percent drop (Whiteman, M., 2014). Governor Jan Brewer proposed to restore coverage to thousand of children through KidsCare II, where Phoenix Children s Hospital, Maricopa Integrated Health System, and the University of Arizona Health Network would pull money together and receive extra federal funds. • 3. Conflict Between A Register Nurse And A License Practice... As human being we all think, feel, behave and perceive life in different ways as we all have different expectations. Conflict is part of life and it can be part of any situation. Especially in nursing field where working as a team is highly emphasized, every member of the team collaborate together in order to meet patient needs and improve patient outcomes. That being said, nurses have to collaborate with coworkers that have different social groups, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. This paper will give a synapsis about a disagreement that happens between a register nurse (RN) and a license practice nurse (LPN) in a forty bed medical surgical unit with sufficient staff coverage with RNs LPNs and UAPs. As the manager of this unit, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She make the assumption that LPN has completely ignored her. The issue was approach from a criticizing angle that immediately lead to a defensive response by the LPN. The RN did not asked the reason why this LPN was not able to help the patient but she jumped in the conclusion that the LPN was not helping her in purpose. Furthermore, in this tensioned situation it seems like there is process conflict between two of the nurses. Huber, 2015 defines process conflict as a conflict pertains to issues of duty and resource delegation, such as who should what and how much responsibility different people should have (p. 172). This confusion between the team members it is revealed sentences when the RN tells the LPN that it was your job, you are assigned to Mrs. J. And the LPN responds to here that I do my own work and part of yours. To better assist patient in medical field, nurses might collaborate and work in team. The RN is fully competent in delegating the appropriate tasks to LPN or UAP, yet she has to make sure to transmit her tasks by using clear communication, being concise on what she wants to be completed, and within what time frame the task has to be completed. She can delegate certain tasks to other staff members such as LPN or UAP; however, she is accountable for what happens to the patient. Both the nurse delegator and the delegate must agree in the task and report back the completion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Introduction in the Assault on Reason by Al Gore unveils the undermined matter of the public not being adequately informed and addressing how the democratic system in the America is deteriorating. His remarks impact the readers with the usage of anaphora, simile, alliteration and fallacy. Gores purpose is to give his visionary truth as a member of the governmental system. • 6. How to Deal with Temper Tantrums Children are the bundles of joy of each family. Having a child in a family means laughs, jokes, playing, and a fun time with this child. No matter how bad the day was, as soon as parents see their child smiles, they forget all about the bad day, and smile back at their child. In fact, some parents wish to stay 24 hours with their children to enjoy their first smiles, first laughs, first words, and first steps. For most of them, all their time with their children is enjoyable, except one particular time. When children throw tantrums, when a child whines, cries, screams, throws him/herself on the floor, and maybe runs out of the house with no known reason, most parents wish not to be in their child s presence because of the screaming. Parents, in order to overcome these tantrums, deal with their children in many different ways. However, the question remains asked over years: What s the best way to deal with toddlers tantrums? Some parents react to a tantrum with yelling and spanking the child to force him/her to stop crying, but the more the parent yells, the more the child cries. In an interview with Cathy W, a motherof a two and half boy, she states about her son, When Jove throws a tantrum, I used to respond to that by yelling and him, and even spanking him. Then, I realized that my yelling and spanking don t solve the problem; they make Jove cries more. At the same time, that information might be too confusing and hard to comprehend.Due to the fact that it is very crucial to know and be a part of political society , I will try to explain it. In order to clarify that topic, I am going to provide a summary. As a result, by using these three main sources, I will try to make the process of becoming a county s representative, a la President, more coherent. In order to make it work, I have divided this summary into two main sections which also have sub sections. The first section is going to be about nominating process. In other words, I highlighted the vital steps of becoming a nominee from a party. Its sub sections will include self announcement, raising funds, running in primaries, etc. In the second section , I talked about general elections. The Obsatment Theory Of Edward Gein Edward Theodore Gein was born on August 27th, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to an alcoholic father and an extremely religious mother who taught him that sex was a sinful act an early age and preached her religious teachings to both Ed and his brother. By 1915 Gein s mother had decided to move the family to a farm in PlainfieldWisconsin and only let him go out in order to go to school. Due to this, the main influence in his life was his mother. Once his mother died in 1945 Gein s obsessive attachment to her and her teachings would end up making him one of the most heinous and notorious killers in American history. This essay will show how the attachment theory is applicable in Ed Geins case. More specifically, how Gein s attachment to his mother and how her death ultimately proved to be deadly. Gein s most influential childhood influence was his mother Augusta who was a very strict and religious woman. Augusta despised her husband who was an alcoholic and wanted to raise her children in a religious environment in order to keep them away from a life of sin. Gein s father was unable to keep a steady job and finally decided to move to a farm isolated from urbanization. ( A E Television Network, 2017) Gein s father would both verbally and physically abuse him and his brother Henry as a result of alcoholism. Another reason it is well known is because it is in movies. In his view, the entrepreneur is a revolutionary innovator that requires aptitudes that are present only in a small fraction of the population (Schumpeter, 1946, p.132). These aptitudes include; a strong intellectual capacity, drive and determination, creativity, and leadership skills (Schumpeter, 1934). Schumpeter (1934, p.74) states that the carrying out of new combinations we call enterprise ; the individuals whose function it is to carry them out we call entrepreneurs . Simply put, Schumpeter views entrepreneurs as innovators; however, it is important to note that Schumpeter (1934, p.88) only views those that commercially exploit their creations as innovators, declaring as long as they [inventions] are not carried into practice, inventions are economically irrelevant. For Schumpeter, it is the commercial exploitation of these new inventions, created by the innovators that he refers to as entrepreneurs, which drive economic development (Fig.2). This is because, in the process of exploiting this new creation, be it an invention or new production method, the entrepreneur breaks the economy out of its static equilibrium, disturbing what ... This commercial scale reactor was built in southwest Scotland and given a name MAGNOX due to the fuel cladding (magnesium non oxidising alloy) used to contain the fuels. The MAGNOX reactor uses natural uraniummetal fuel to generate thermal energy while using graphite bricks to moderate the fast moving neutrons within the core. Two types of graphite bricks are used in MAGNOX design; these are Pile Grade A (PGA) and Pile Grade B (PGB). The former is used as a neutron moderator due to its high density and lower neutron absorption, whereas the latter is mostly used as a reflector [23].... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently, there are fifteen operating reactors in the UK with a combined total output around 8883 MWe, and one under construction [27]. Fourteen of the fifteen operating reactors are AGRs and located at seven different power stations, making the AGRs the most dominant nuclear reactors in the UK. The remaining two reactors (including the one under construction) are based on PWR design. AGRs are the second generation of the UK nuclear power plants, and initially designed to improve the steam cycle efficiency of the early reactor design (MAGNOX). This type of reactors exists only in the UK and operated by EDF Energy (formerly British Energy). Since the AGRs first operation in 1976 they have become the UK s most dominant reactor after showing an increased economic benefits and steam cycle efficiency approximately 42% compared with MAGNOX reactor, which has approximately 31% efficiency [25]. AGRs are capable of producing peak fuel temperature approximately 800 В°C and the coolant gas temperature approximately 650 В°C at 40 bars. The steam generated by the AGRs can reach up to 540 В°C at 165 bar, which is capable of driving the standard 660 MW turbines. Daily routines from driving to work or school, to coming home, involve people handling more than one task at a time. At what point is it too much to handle before mistakes are being made? When someone answers a call on their cell phone while driving, that is multitasking, and that has shown to be hazardous. When a student is instant messaging and writing a paper at the same time, that is hazardous as well, but not in the way one would immediately think. Heavy media use may be associated with decreased social well being and could cause harm on young adults psychological functioning. Also, people who often multitask with media such as the TV, the internet, etc, have shown instances in which there was a diminished ability to effectively filter non important information cognitively. The usage of media that college students use today has increased by at least 20% in the last decade (Alzahabi Becker, 2013). According to Stephen Monsell, everything people do requires a schema or task set to perform that function. Mr. Monsell stated that we use executive control to pick and perform the proper task set(s) that are necessary to complete our current goals or activities without being distracted to complete other unnecessary goals or activities (Monsell, 2003). Sonier Post Modernism Essay The Sky is Gray by Ernest Gaines is a realistic example of a long epidemic has hovered over the African American community like an dark storm cloud just waiting to burst. Personally, this story called to me, like I was meant to read it. The mother in this short story reminds me of my own mother. Stepping into that masculine role to show strength and provide for her family. Then, teaching her son these harsh life lessons to ensure his survival in a society that is not welcoming to an African Americanman; act rationally, not emotionally. The story opens with the narrator that is later introduced to the reader as James, an eight year old boy with an awful toothache. James tries his best to conceal this from his Auntie and mother, Octavia. James truly admires his mama, however he has the misfortune awareness of the poverty that his family suffers from. He is so gravely aware of the situation that he tries to conceal his pain for a weeks span, only confiding in his younger sibling Ty. Early on in the story, importance of strength and endurance is the first major theme that appears abundantly clear in the text, when James recalls the happier times before his father joined the Army and did not return from the war. Octavia would stay up later back in those days, and now she would go to sleep immediately after a meal. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oil is very important in our world. But we should be able to come up with some alternate methods of getting oil, or even better, alternate resources. There has already been an alternate way to produce oil already invented. This process is known as the Fischer Tropsch process, which converts coal into crude oil. It was a concept pioneered in Nazi Germany when imports of petroleum were restricted due to war, and Germany found a method to extract oil from coal. It was known as Ersatz ( substitute in German), and accounted for nearly half the total oil used in WWII by Germany. However, the process was used only as a last resort as naturally occurring oil was much cheaper. As crude oil prices increase, the cost of coal to oil conversion becomes comparatively cheaper. The method involves converting high ash coal into synthetic oil in a multistage process. Ideally, a ton of coal produces nearly 200 liters of crude, with by products ranging from tar to rare chemicals. The solution to America s energy problems will be found in American ingenuity, not more oil. We need to reduce our reliance on oil, and invent cleaner, renewable forms of power that will be just as effective as oil. We already have many of the tools we need to accomplish this. For example, Detroit has the technology right now to produce high performance hybrid cars, trucks and SUVs. • 25. Melancholia Depression Melancholia: Depression on Film Melancholia is defined as a mental condition characterized by extreme depression, bodily complaints, and often hallucinations and delusions. Lars von Trier wrote the film during his own episode of severe depression, and noted the tendency of the depressed to remain peaceful during catastrophic events. To reflect this detached sense of reality, Lars Von Trier rejected his rigidly realistic Dogma 95 principles for a dreamlike aesthetic that represents the depressed mind of the main character Justine (played by Kirsten Dunst). He splits the film into two parts with each part named after one of the main characters. Part one is named after Justine and takes place during the night of her wedding reception. Justine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most graphic allusion is when Justine, in her wedding dress and with a bouquet of flowers, is floating lifeless down a stream of water. This is a recreation of John Everett Millais painting entitled Ophelia. Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare s Hamlet, is perhaps the most famous depressive in all of literature. Justine embodies this image of being trapped and detached from loved ones, through her emotionless and dead eyed expressions. Justine and Claire both try to escape during the film but they both fail; therefore, they are literally trapped on the mansion property, which gives an increasing sense of hopelessness and dread. Richard Wagner s song, Prelude to Triston and Isolde, is played as a haunting refrain throughout the film. The song mixes depression with beauty and desire, like how the beautiful aesthetic of the film mixes with the hopelessness on screen. I appreciate that Lars von Trier rejects end of the world movie clichГ©s, and instead shows something deeper and more poetic. The end of the world is experienced through the broken Justine and Claire, and not shown through massive destructions of major cities and mass hysteria. The end of the world is a fiercely intimate and unescaping event, instead of a time filled with last minute hook ups and hedonistic bucket lists. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with . • 38. The Use Of Symbolism In Traveling Through The Dark Symbolism is used in everything from movies to stories, EVERYTHING. Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Symbols can be used to describe or mean something else. For example, empty pockets can be used as a symbol to describe not having any money. It can be used in many different ways and forms. Symbols are used everyday and time are really hard to notice what they truly mean. The following poems all use different symbols, but all stand for deception the poems are Traveling Through the Dark by William Stafford, We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar, Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and The Lotteryby Shirley Jackson. To begin with, the poem Traveling Through the Dark the car is symbolized as death. In real life time a car is used as a form of transportation, but can also bring death to those involved in an accident. The narrator states, Traveling though the dark I found a deer dead on the edge of the Wilson river road (lines1 2). He says that he has found a dead deer on by the river that another car might have hit before. This car that the narrator is in come be a sign of death coming again to a unborn baby. He says, . . . then pushed her over the edge into the river (line18). After finding the dead deer he decides to move the deer to prevent another accident, later to find out that an unborn is still alive. He makes his way towards a cliff pushing off the dead and now dead baby fawn to dispose of the bodies. Nordstrom comments, the car is certainly described as a death bringer (Nordstrom). Nordstrom understands that death is disguised by a car and as the car approaches the deer, its death making its way again. Next the poem named We Wear the Mask deals with what slaves would relate to during the slavery having to cover up their true feelings. A mask is used as a symbol as it is used to hide the true feelings of those who are in grief and sorrow. In the poem it states, We wear the mask that grins and lies . . . (line 1). Right off the bat the writer agrees to wearing a mask that does not show true emotions. The writer is most likely not willing to show his or her true feelings, because during the time slaves were not supposed to be happy and were not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main themes held within the content of The Handmaid s Tale comprise of not just the overall story itself, but also the character and the idea. The narrator, Offred, is unquestionably the most noteworthy character in the novel where the reader experiences the world of the Gilead through her eyes. However, the reader is not given an in depth understanding of what Offred truly is like, as her only description of herself is being thirty three years old , have brown hair and stand five seven without shoes . Through Offred s vague description of herself, as well as by mentioning that she has trouble remembering what she look like , suggests the idea of feminism in which Atwood tries to convey.
