1929 started work at the University of Geneva.
He worked their until his death.
1955 established The Centre of Genetic
Epistemology (Theory of Knowledge)
Published more than 50 books and over 500

◦ At the beginning of the stage kids place beads
haphazardly.
◦ Kids then succeed to conforming to the general pattern
but only arranging proximity pairs/
Stage 2:ranges from 4-5
◦ Kids unable to complete reverse order and cannot
complete the figure 8. Kids also have trouble with the
word “between”
◦ reverse order is done through trial and error.
Kids can complete the linear and circular orders
but Stage 3 ranges from age 6-7
◦ Kids can complete the linear and circular order and they
can complete reverse order and the figure 8.

Thinking within stages would be similar
across tasks.
According to Piaget teaching children
advanced concepts would be

In other words Kids are able to do more
then originally thought.
Some Criticisms
