Jean Mouton was a French Renaissance composer famous for his motets, which are considered some of the finest of that era. He worked for the French court for most of his life, often writing music for royal weddings, coronations, and other important events. Mouton taught choirboys in Grenoble and Amiens and was influential as a teacher, with one of his students, Adrian Willaert, going on to be a founder of the Venetian school of composition.
