Extending JMS to Web Devices over HTML5 WebSockets - JavaOne 2011Peter Moskovits
HTML5 WebSockets offers secure, high-performance, bidirectional network communication over the Web and in the cloud, making applications more responsive while using less bandwidth: live dashboards, financial quotes and transactions, real-time auctions and betting, gaming, equipment monitoring . . . the list is endless. In this session, see how to extend the Java Message Service (JMS) API to Web devices over HTML5 WebSockets to enrich and accelerate your applications. Discover through concrete code examples and a live customer application how to develop highly interactive UIs showing real-time data from any middleware supporting JMS, such as Tibco EMS or Informatica UMQ. Demos include JavaFX and JavaScript running in a Web browser and on a mobile device.
Flex For Java Architects Ledroff Breizh Jug V Blog CcFrançois Le Droff
I had the chance to present at the BreizhJUG (a Breton Java user group) a session named "Flex for Java Deveoppers".
A crowd of almost 100 happy Java developers and architects was willing to know more about Flex.
I had an an hour and half to cover :
*
a basic presentation of the flash and AIR platforms,
*
cool UX flash/flex/AIR demos
*
the latest great features of flash 10
*
and flex, and its ecosystem from a Java developer perspective (mvn framework, testing libraries, building and quality tools, blazeds, lcds)
I ended up the session presenting fna maven archetypes
The family of HTML5 technologies has pushed the pendulum away from rich client technologies and towards ever more capable web clients running in today's browsers. In particular, WebSockets brings new opportunities for efficient peer to peer communication, providing the basis for a new generation of interactive and 'live' web applications. This session examines the efforts underway to support WebSockets in the Java programming model using JSR 356, from its base level integration in the Java Servlet and Java EE containers, to a new easy to use API and toolset that is destined to become a part of the standard Java Platform.
How can you make sure that your next web application supports not only the desktop browser, but also all the other devices and screen sizes? And that it can efficiently talk to backend services in a bidirectional way? With new concepts for client-side development like responsive web design and hybrid web applications, and with new APIs for WebSocket, REST services, JSON and more, Java EE 7 with HTML5 may be the best combination to meet your needs. In this keynote, see how you can efficiently develop such an application, and how advanced integrated tools can help you with both server and client code.
Reusing Existing Java EE Applications from SOA Suite 11gGuido Schmutz
You have a lot of existing Java EE applications. Part of these applications and their logic have a potential to be reused in an SOA. But what is the best practice for reusing such Java EE applications? This session will show different approaches available with SOA Suite 11g in the SCA assembly model as well as with the Oracle Service Bus to reuse existing Java EE artifacts.
Web designers are having a great time. Over the last year, a lot of web design patterns took off: more simplicity, more cleanliness and more focus. This energy can translate into Flat Design, RWD, web fonts, parallax… Michaël has worked in the Web Design industry since the 90’s. In this session, he will list the current web design trends. Then he will explain WHY they took off, and HOW to achieve them. Get inspired and join the conversation about our Web Design industry.
FITC 2014 Amsterdam - Adobe Apps for Web Designers in 2014Michael Chaize
We all have our habits, our routines and our rituals to create. Web designers need to constantly adapt their creative process to embrace new web trends, such as Responsive Web Design, High-Density Screens or Flat Design. Adobe is also transforming applications to answer these needs.
In this session, Michaël will showcase how web designers can optimize their workflows with Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and new applications such as Reflow CC, RWD, SVG, symbol fonts, web fonts, asset generation and scripting. Join Michaël to discover how to improve your web design process in order to focus even more on your creativity.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
