4. After looking at various music videos directed by Jake Nava, I
noticed that many of the videos focused on women’s bodies.
This shows that voyeurism is his main influence when directing
music videos.
With male singers such as Usher (Burn) or Enrique Iglesias (Not In
Love), we can still see references to voyeurism as the song
would feature a female character.

6. Beyoncé ft. Sean Paul – Baby Boy Enrique Iglesias ft. Kelis – Not in Love
Jake Nava is the main person responsible for what we see on our screens
when watching music videos, therefore each video he works on will have
similar traits, to show his input into them. Here, we can see that the two
videos starring Sean Paul and Enrique Iglesias (as seen in the screen shot)
use low key lighting, creating a sensual and intimate atmosphere, with only
a small spotlight to emphasise this mood. Furthermore, the use of close ups
of their faces show they are the male dominant as well as the main focus of
this music video. We can sense this feeling of cool and sexiness just by
looking at the screenshots. These points all follow Nava’s directing style, to
show he directed these music videos.
7. Mariah Carey – Shake It Off Mis-Teeq - Scandalous
In these two shots we can see that Mariah Carey and Mis-Teeq are framed
in the centre of the shot, with a similar body language (bent legs, arms up,
looking sensual). There is a dim lighting but with high key spot lights making
the artist the main focus. Yet again, we can see that Jake Nava’s influence
of voyeurism has been used as we are here able to see the two artist in a
costume which enhances their body shapes, portraying them as the main
as the sexy main female artist.
