people s lives. This ideal is found throughout and delegates the lives of many individuals

describing how American views on kinship and social relations vary from those of Indians through

Throughout most of India, people use patrilineal descent to establish kinship; this means that

part of an individuals life because many generations all live together under one roof. For

There are many factors that go into the hiring process for businesses, but one factor should not
be discrimination. I believe that if you are best qualified for the job then it should be yours. I
know if it was my company I would want the most qualified person working for me. With me
being in the military it makes it hard to argue these points because we need to be diverse. My
friend was up for promotion to Sergeant First Class last year; it was his first time getting looked
at for Sergeant First Class. He had done everything in his power to stand out from his peers.

Persian Gulf Warwas not fully supported by the soldiers who fought in the war. Gulf War
veterans marched like Vietnam veterans because they also viewed the war as unjustified. Persian
Gulf War veterans would say, American soldiers lost their lives for oil. The first Persian Gulf War
started from August 2, 1990 and ended on February 28, 1991. This war began by the invasion of
Kuwait by Iraq. During this invasion some of the oil fields of Kuwait were set on fire and some of
the oil spilled to the Persian Gulf. The Persian Gulf was the oil supplier for western countries. So

The 1960 s was a time like no other in American history. Racial tension between African Americans
and white, middle class citizens had plagued the country. Animosity towards African Americans
was aggressive throughout the south and did not show signs of letting up. Alongside rising racial
tensions, fear of communism put many on edge, which gave Americans more of a reason to use
blacks as a scapegoat to blame for occurring issues. At the time, white Americans in the south
perceived African Americans as inferior, regardless of if they were technically free . The strong
contempt towards the black community lead to widespread oppression of African Americans...
Doing this gave the African Americancommunity more power and voice. Standing united
allowed these activist groups to implement their individual goals and place them all under the
same branch. One major goal included black voter registration lead by Bob Moses and Tom
Gaither (44). They believed that blacks had been disenfranchised by the Jim crow laws and other
laws hindering their voter registration abilities. Voter registration forms made it nearly impossible
for uneducated black Americans to register, often using trick questions (41). A majority of blacks
did not feel comfortable registering to vote due to the potential repercussions. They would often be
persecuted and harassed by locals and often were blacklisted or outed in the local newspapers if
attempted to register. The act of fear instilled in many blacks throughout the south prevented them
from registering. Moses and Gaither along with SNCC volunteers, helped this issue by going to
local communities throughout Mississippi, motivating locals and the community by building local
leaders. SNCC activist Charles McLaurin even stated By getting the people together they will see
that they are not alone... (49). Going into communities and motivating locals to register helped
many blacks overcome their fears and aided the snowball effect of black voter registration.

Empowered or Limited When it comes to the topic of education, most of us will readily agree that
receiving an education is necessary and important to daily life. Where this agreement usually ends,
however, is on the question of limitations. Whereas some are convinced that public education limits
it students, others maintain that it empowers them. My own view is that public educationlimits
students because there is a lack of autonomy, a focus on segregation, and a very real pressure to
succeed. The standard way of thinking about education is to believe that it empowers students,
however some argue that it actually limits a student s individuality. In his essay Against School,
John Gatto demonstrates how the public educational system places limitations on its students.

The response is based on my experience that was faced with overcoming the obstacle of my misfit
situation, which began on September 8th, 2015 that continued onto April 11th, 2017. It will
