staff was directed to contact
 Texas Historical Commission for
approval of project
 VIA for potential funding options

wood)
 Placed on the National Register of
Historic Places in 2004

 Will take approximately 1 month to
complete
 10 years of protection
 Traffic control plans will need to be
developed to TxDOT standards

FISCAL IMPACT
 Restoration Process (1 month) = $41,700
 Road Closure Costs (Traffic control, barrels,
attenuator crash truck rental) = $6,327
 Total Costs = $48,027
 Appropriated from the Capital Projects Fund
unless VIA approves requested funding

CONDITION OF THE BUS STOP
 Overall in good condition concerning
foundation and structural rebar.
 Roof has lost its original finishing due to
the elements.
 The structure has lost 70% of its original
coloration

CONDITION OF THE BUS STOP
 Water seeping through the roof has caused
efflorescence to appear on the structure.
 Efflorescence is when a substance changes
to powder due to water and crystallizes on
the adjacent surface.
 When efflorescence takes hold, the structural
integrity of a structure is at great risk.

 The efflorescence can be stopped to
prevent any future damage as part of the
restoration process.
