BACKGROUND
โข San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is governed
by the SAWS Board of Trustees
โข Mayor of San Antonio
โข Six members appointed by the San Antonio City
Council
โข Currently the trustees must:
โข Reside either within the area served by SAWS or
within the corporate limits of the city
โข Each member is appointed a four-year term
โข No member serving than two terms

โข SAWS serves, in some capacity, all twenty-seven
(27) of the incorporated cities in Bexar County
โข Twenty-six (26) excluding the City of San Antonio
do not have representation on the SAWS Board
of Trustees

SUMMARY
This resolution is requesting the following:
1. That the SAWS Board of Trustees allow the suburban
cities to nominate the north and south Board of Trustees
members as members of the 26 Greater Bexar County
Council of Cities for the area in which they are served.
2. That a Mayor from the Greater Bexar County Council of
Cities be nominated by and selected by the Coalition.
3. The selected Mayor be afforded all rights and
responsibilities as other SAWS Board of Trustee
members.
