 Purchase of a CASE 580 Super N Backhoe Loader

3. BACKGROUND
 The Utility Department has utilized a 1991 John
Deere Backhoe for the department’s needs
Asset is 29 years old and in need of replacement
 The City is a member of Sourcewell
 Provides a wide variety of goods and services to
governmental entities
 Cost secured through Sourcewell contract price

4. BACKGROUND
Sourcewell offered a CASE 580 Super N Backhoe
Loader for $85,898.73
Includes $10,000 offered by ASCO Inc. for trade-in of
1991 John Deere

5. BACKGROUND
 Accessories will be purchased separately through
Kelly Attachment Inc. due to a superior performing
product. Attachments are:
$1,650 for a quick connect attachment
*$2,006 for a 24” bucket
*$1,806 for a 18” bucket
*$1,572 for a 12” bucket
*All buckets can be used on other city-owned backhoes

6. POLICY ANALYSIS
Purchasing is cost effective rather to continue
repair of a worn and outdated machine in which
parts are difficult to attain.

7. FISCAL IMPACT
The total cost for the purchase of a CASE 580 Super N
Backhoe Loader and accessories is $92,932.73
$7,032 for accessories
 Plus $85,898.73 for backhoe loader
 Within FY 19/20 Capital Replacement budget (Utility
Dept.)
