Special Election on November 8, 2016 to
consider the reauthorization of a local sales and
use tax at the rate of one-fourth of one percent
• Continue to fund the 20-year Street Maintenance
Program for the maintenance and repair of municipal

voters
• Revenues based on sales tax will expire on
March 31, 2017
• If approved by the voters, the sales tax would
be effective April 1, 2017 and expire on March
31, 2021 for a period of four years

• Texas Tax Code, Chapter 327 requires a City election to be
held for the purpose of voting on the proposed adoption or
reauthorization of a municipal sales and use tax for street
maintenance
• Current sales tax rate for the City of Alamo Heights is 8.00%
6.25% goes to State
1.25% goes to City
.5% goes to VIA Metropolitan
• Reauthorization of the sales & use tax is under the statutory
limit, which is no more than 2% of a total sales rate of 8.25%

streets has generated approximately:
• $216,597 in FY 2012-13
• $235,108 in FY 2013-14
• $236,717 in FY 2014-15
• $184,632 in FY 2015-16, up to date
• Projected amount for FY 2015-16 is $241,000
• City will realize cost savings by participating in
Joint Election
