                                                                               Project Description

                                                                               ISFM were engaged by Athletics Australia to assist in
                                                                               their bid for the 2006 World Indoor Track and Field
                                                                               Championships to coincide with the 2006 Melbourne
                                                                               Commonwealth Games.

                                                                               Following a detailed audit of indoor facilities in Mel-
                                                                               bourne, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney, and based on the
                                                                               International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) re-
                                                                               quirements, the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of New
                                                                               South Wales’ dome and exhibition facilities were elected.

                                                                               ISFM developed an overlay plan for the facility which saw
                                                                               the dome converted into a 5,500 seat indoor track and
                                                                               field venue. The venue had direct access to the exhibition
                                                                               halls which housed athlete warm up areas as well as the
                                                                               media/press centre.

                                                                               Apart from its role in the selection and planning of the
                                                                               facilities, ISFM also assisted with the financial and opera-
                                                                               tional planning of the bid document.
