Wicca And Witchcraft
Witchcraft is a religion. Wicca is one form of Witchcraft; however, the term Wicca is occasionally
applied to Witchcraft in overall. In the United States, most individuals who practice this religion
identify themselves as Witches or Wiccans. Wicca is an earth based religion and in some ways is akin
to the Native American spirituality. Wicca, which is sometimes called The Craft, Wicce, or The Old
Religion, is centered on an ancient religion of nature and love of life. Most federal and governments as
well as the U.S. Armed Forces recognize the religion of Wicca. The courts have acknowledged the
right of even inmates to perform this religion on the same basis as other religions.
In ancient times, people appreciated Nature with its great forces and celebrated the cycles of the
seasons and the moon. They understood the spirituality in the sun as well as the moon and in the Earth
Herself. When you come right down to it, in all of life.
This perspective is in spite of everything, vital to present day Wicca. To most Wiccans, everything in
Nature, together with the Goddesses and Gods, is a true aspect of Deity. The elements most often
notable in the Craft are the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, which is known as the Triple Goddess
of the Moon and in addition the Horned God. These have numerous names in a number of cultures.
Wicca is personal, flexible and all encompassing. You will find no two Wiccans observe their faith in
exactly the same way but all are accepted. This can only

I. Introduction The paper will be used to further explore intervention approaches and treatment options
for the client I did my case presentation on and also a process recording, Amanda. The information
presented about Amanda is information gathered during the intake assessment, family discussions, and
individual family sessions. The two theories that have been researched and will be used throughout
this paper are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Structural Family Therapy (SFT) because
both theories are able to address the issues Amanda is presenting. These theories will be critiqued
based upon research in journal articles and readings from class. Then the theories will be applied to
Amanda s case based upon the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is, the nuclear family s relationship or lack of relationship to the extended family or the
community may play a huge part in functioning. Ackerman (1958) viewed family work as a special
method of treatment of emotional disorders based on dynamically oriented interviews with the whole
family. This looks at the who, what, where, when, why, and how of family. The goal is to bring to the
surface all the contributors (person or thing) of the issue and map out ways to manage it. In family
therapy, the clinician is able to see the role each member plays within the family structure. The
clinician can assist the family to develop a family tree to explore different trends or discover unknown
facts. For example, in developing this tree of people the family can include cause of death, possible
miscarriages, mental health diagnosis of members, illnesses, or any other trend of interest. This can
also promote family connectedness by contacting other members or friends of the family to gather
information. Structural Family Therapy can also promote a safe environment for individuals to
express concerns or feelings to family members. It can improve communication, develop effective
problem solving methods, explore values, and experiment with new behaviors (Thayer 1982). The role
of the clinician is to keep the sessions family focused. The clinician must recognize who the identified
patient is or the client the family system has

An Analysis Of The Boat By Alistair Macleod
The theme in both the short story The Boat by Alistair Macleod and the poem Warren Pryor by Alden
Nowlan have direct connections. Both works reflect the theme of obligation versus aspiration, and
promote the message that it is difficult to be happy with a career chosen in order to please someone
else. In each story, the protagonists feel compelled to follow a path that is not their own, but rather one
chosen for them by their parents who are blind to the protagonist s true desires. The narrator in The
Boat is conflicted throughout the story as he tries to reconcile his own ambition of attending university
with the expectation he will continue the family tradition as a fisherman. At the beginning of the story,
he describes how his family is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He works hard and long for months until his father passes away, which lifts his burden and permits
him to follow his true calling by the end of the story. Were not for his father s death, the narrator
would have begrudgingly continued in a career chosen by necessity, not desire. In the poem Warren
Pryor, the protagonist finds himself in a similar situation, where he is obligated to choose what his
parents want for him. His parents are farmers, who want nothing more than their son to have a
professional job. They work incredibly hard to put Warren through school, and aspire to spare him
from their hardscrabble existence on the meagre acreage that bore them down (Nowlan 4). They are
elated when he finally graduates, as described in the line They blushed with pride when, at his
graduation,/they watched him pick up the slender scroll (Nowlan 5 6). When Warren becomes a bank
teller, they are grateful that they were successful in giving him what they believe is a better life. In the
last stanza, however, it is revealed that Warren did not have a say in his career choice and bore the
expectations of his parents in silence. The poem reveals that he said nothing (Nowlan 13) and describe
him as having axe hewn hands upon the paper bills/aching with empty strength and throttled rage
(Nowlan 15 16). The reader can clearly see by this last stanza that Warren s real dream was

Tropic Thunder Movie Communication
There are many great examples of characters who communicate well in movies. A character with good
communication skills can send messages clearly and understand clearly. To communicate well one
must have emotional intelligence. They use their verbal skills to enhance the non verbal emotional
cues and get the point across. In stark contrast, there are the characters that do not communicate well.
These characters send mixed signals, say words without meaning, or completely misuse words. The
verbal communication rarely explains the emotions they may be exhibiting. They are either unable or
unwilling to even care about anyone outside of themselves which makes them incapable of
communication on any level. Tropic Thunder is a movie that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He stays in character during the entire movie even when cameras are not rolling. Throughout the
movie he speaks to the other actors as if he is a black, Army Sergeant and not as himself so none of
the other actors take him seriously. Lazarus tries to convince the others that he thinks the director is
dead and that they might be in a dangerous situation. He is not believed and is questioned why he is
still in character if he does not think they are being filmed. His reply is I don t drop character until I do

is trying to say. Kirk Lazarus is a selective listener if he listens at all. He pretends to be interested in
what Tugg Speedman, the action hero, says about how he diets but interrupts him when he grabs a
map from his hands. Lazarus calls Kevin Sandusky, the lesser known actor of the group, by different
names even though he is corrected several times. When Sandusky comes up with a plan to rescue
Tugg Speedman, who has been taken hostage, he refers to the book that the script of their movie is
based on. Kevin then asks Kirk if he read the script. Kirk replies in character and in a non committal
way, I don t read the script, the script reads me. Kirk s words do not have any real meaning. All his
communication is just dialogue for the sake of acting. When Alpa Chino, the rapper/actor, gets angry

Roberto Clemente
My five page paper is on a famous baseball star named Roberto Clemente. As he was very talented, he
also cared and loved for everyone. He would help those in need and enjoy it too. All around Roberto
Clemente was a wonderful man. In these next five pages I will be talking about his life and how he
was a good samaritan throughout his life.
Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a house of concrete
and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina, Puerto Rico. He was the youngest of
seven children. His father was a foreman overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped deliver sand and
gravel for a construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store and did other jobs on
the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the family and buy himself a bicycle.
Growing up, Roberto played baseball and participated in track and field. He won medals for the
javelin throw and short distance races. Throwing the javelin strengthened his arm for throwing a
baseball. Roberto was a very athletic boy.
Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. He did have to work with his father loading and
unloading trucks because his family was poor. He was very interested in baseball ever since he was
young and played against teams in his neighborhood. He went to Vizcarrondo High School in

The Revolution From Above By Reza Shah
REVOLUTION FROM ABOVE Reza Shah was in control of everything. Reza Shah s obsession with
control educational matters is vividly illustrated in an anecdote told by Solayman Behbudi, the ruler s
personal assistant. Reza Shah was so used to the tolling of the bells of the Tarbiat School, located next
to the ruler s palace, that when one day he failed to hear the sound, he inquired about the reason.
Being informed that the school had closed on account of the death of one of its employees, the shah
angrily scolded the minister of education for failing to uphold a standard of uniformity by allowing
one particular school to suspend its classes. By establishing a highly controlled national school
system, he was able to control the schools, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Few of them had the sense that their tribes were actually part of Iran, the greater nation. They were
loyal to the Khans, the leaders of the tribe. They collected taxes, established civil and criminal courts.
The tribes were like a government inside a government. (Reference 11)Therefore, the autonomy of the
tribes was preventing Iran from achieving nationalism. Having the tribal people loyal to the central
government, to Iran, by promoting nationalism would help the government to better control them by
making sure that they do not rebel or do anything that would hurt the interests or the power central
government or of Iran. And one way to destroy the independence of the tribes was to force the nomads
to become sedentary, to settle down so that the government could keep a better eye on them. And
education can play an important role in changing a person s ideology and habits. It was a means to
help the nomads to get used to the new way of living and to instill them a sense of nation or Iranism.
Reza Shah launched a project in 1929 to educate the children of Iran s multitudinous tribes. The
curriculum in the tribal schools varied in different areas, but was nevertheless highly censored and
designed in such a way that would benefit the government in promoting loyalty to the nation, in
preventing rebelling and in

In-Depth Analysis of Smart Phone Industry
1. Provide an in depth analysis of the competitive forces and strategic issues shaping the Smartphone
Tablet industry from 2011 onwards
From 2011onwards, there was advancement of technology in Apple Company under the leadership
and involvement of Steve Jobs. Although he had delegated the day to day operations to Tim Cook, he
was still involved in the company s major decision making. The company unveiled iCloud, which was
an online storage facility for photos, music and files. Iphone 4S was introduced later on October 2011,
which had 1080p video recording camera, an A4 dual chip with high capability, cloud sourced data

The customers bargaining power is another force that presents a competitive pressure on companies in
this industry. Customers are more interested on the brand identity with much preference on the
emergent ones. They tend to be loyal to price elasticity and hence companies are left to compete in
cutting costs. Obviously, consumers will go for products with low prices and therefore companies
such as Apple would not risk being expensive. The more expensive a company s products are the less
the number of buyers received. Immediately a substitute enters the market, everything to do with the
existing products becomes competitive. Consumers are left to make considerate choices between the
product and its substitutes. The Smartphone Tablet industry is characterized by emergent of various
brands within short ranges of time. These brands become substitutes and affect the pricing strategy
adversely. This is a force that Apple and the other companies have to deal with as far as their survival
in the market is concerned.
A barrier to entry is another competitive force that Apple and other companies endure. The
possibilities of entering a particular market are limited by factors such as technology, time and cost
advantage, economies of scale and knowledge. If a certain market is characterized by a certain level of
technology, companies

Examples Of Prepositions In Tagalog
As a student of the Tagalog language, learning these parts of speech can be confusing and may
dishearten a person in his journey on how to learn Tagalog. But when through consistent practice,
diligence, and patience one understands and is able to use them like the native speakers do, a greater
step is achieved on the road to Tagalog mastery. Although these last three parts of speech may seem
insignificant, learning them and using them properly will eliminate a lot of misunderstanding in your
conversation among Tagalog speakers and you will be better understood as you try to express yourself

Analysis Of Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
The Allegory of the Cave ties in with our world and society we live in today in many ways. One way
would be that our world we live in values education a lot, more than a lot of things. In Plato: Allegory
of the Cave the prisoners value education just as much as we do in the modern century. The prisoners
praise one another if they guess the right shadow that is going to be displayed. If they guess the wrong
shadow then they make fun of one another. As they sit there in the little cave for most of their life they
do not really understand or know what education is but they do think the shadow game makes them
smarter than the other prisoners. The prisoners think the shadows are real so they feel smart when they
guess right as to what they are.

The Gilded Age will be remembered for the accomplishments of thousands of American thinkers,
inventors, entrepreneurs, writers, and promoters of social justice. The Gilded Age and the first years of
the twentieth century were a time of great social change and economic growth in the United States.
Roughly spanning the years between Reconstruction and the dawn of the new century, the Gilded Age
saw rapid industrialization, urbanization, the construction of great transcontinental railroads,
innovations in science and technology, and the rise of big business. Afterward, the first years of the
new century that followed were dominated by progressivism, a forward looking political movement
that attempted to redress some of the ills that had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mechanization and marketing were the keys to success in this age: companies that could mass produce
products and convince people to buy them accumulated enormous amounts of wealth, while
companies that could not were forced out of business by brutal competition. Railroads were the
linchpin in the new industrialized economy. The railroad industry enabled raw materials, finished
products, food, and people to travel cross country in a matter of days, as opposed to the months or
years that it took just prior to the Civil War. By the end of the war, the United States boasted some
35,000 miles of track, mostly in the industrialized North. By the turn of the century, that number had
jumped to almost 200,000 miles, linking the North, South, and West. With these railroads making
travel easier, millions of rural Americans flocked to the cities, and by 1900, nearly 40 percent of the
population lived in urban areas. By the twentieth century, the rise of big business and the large
migration of Americans from the countryside to the cities caused a shift in political awareness, as
elected officials saw the need to address the growing economic and social problems that developed
along with the urban boom. Progressives believed that the government needed to take a strong,

Analysis Of Mahan s Advocacy For Sea Power Against...
In many scholarly and military circles, the writings of Mahan and Mackinder are often portrayed as
two purist theories opposing one another. Scholars pit Mahan s advocacy for sea power against
Mackinder s insights into the benefits of land power and soon the real genius of both is lost. (For
examples, see Dodds and Sidaway 292, 2004 and Colls 238 239, 2002 as cited in Dodds and Sidaway
293, 2004 and Holmes and Yoshihara 25, 2005). In truth, in almost every respect, Mahan s and
Mackinder s views are complementary. While Mahan does emphasize the importance of sea power to
a nation s economic prosperity and security, his passionate insight is a far cry from any assertion
against the importance of land power. Conversely, Mackinder s insights focus quite extensively on the
potential for a country to develop a powerful land force on the core of the Eurasian landmass, but
again we see throughout his writing the underlying assumption of the importance of sea power. Both
men agreed on so many salient points that it is far better to read their works as a whole and thereby
glean the collective wisdom of their perspectives, than to analyze them separately as two opposing
schools of thought. In this way, one can see that their complementary insights are greater than the sum
of their individual works. There are a few scholars that recognize this unfortunate trend of depicting a
false land power vs. sea power debate. Jon Sumida is one who acknowledges that the Mahan texts are

Conch Shell Symbolism
What does the conch shell in Lord of the Flies truly represent? In Lord of the Flies by William
Golding, a group of young boys are stranded on an island where they try to maintain a civilization far
away from society. The conch shell that Piggy and Ralph find is used to create a small democracy on
the island. It is a symbol of the civilization on the island, the order that the boys have, and the power
that a single person can possess. It represents how much of a connection they have to society, and the
degree of civilization that still remains. The conch is an important part of their survival because
without the conch, the boys can no longer live in harmony with one another and will eventually
destroy each other. Without order and civilization, the island cannot be called a society. They can no
longer hold themselves together, and have a higher chance of destruction. Over time, the boys begin to
lose sight of civilization. When the conch is finally destroyed, the order between them is destroyed as
well. The conch shell symbolizes the boys civilization, order, and power. At the beginning of the story,
the conch is emphasized as a symbol of order, as that is the first idea that comes up when an assembly
is established. When the conch is blown, all of the boys head to the mountain where Piggy and Ralph
are located. The conch constituted order for them and allowed them to start a civilization in the first
place. It also represents power among the boys. Golding shows Ralph s

Self-Sacrifice In A Short Story
Self sacrifice is not an easy term to use, neither to take action for, nor a relationship to understand. To
do something as easy as writing a letter to a friend whom has been sick for a while, by sacrificing your

be the situation you are in or the problem you are facing, it could be a friend or someone close to, and
you do want to save that individual, at this right point you have to make a decision which is you
sacrifice something you have or even you, or turn around as nothing had happened in this world, while
you chose the first choice you should know what is your capacity and the amount of lost you are
doing. In the short story Julia decided to lose her leg for the baby and Lilly, mother carrying her child
on her arms taking steps not caring who is behind and that was what she decided to do.
The situation was not easy to handle Julia had suffered, and tried to fight for justice, and what she saw

Avoid Vs Incentive Pay
Year after year, as executive pay continues its inexorable climb, it s amusing to watch corporate
directors try to justify the piles of shareholder money they throw at the hired help (Morgenson 1) .
There are many employees that go the extra mile and produce more for their company, but they often
never receive anything extra in return. Due to this, they are less motivated to go the extra mile in the
future. In contrast, incentive pay is beneficial to an organization s overall production efficiency and
effectiveness.

First of all, a convenient starting point for an analysis of pay determination of team sports players is
the marginal productivity theory, which is the workhorse of modern labor economics (Bernd Simmons
1) .This connects with the claim because the marginal productivity theory includes that performance
ends up determining how much the athlete gets paid. This proves what I learned is true because the
theory shows how athletes relates to a worker on how if they work , then incentive compensation is
what is rewarded as a salary is for an athlete. Although salary is determined by hardwork, many fans
may believe player pay to be arbitrarily determined, statistical studies have shown that player salaries
in team sports on both sides of the Atlantic depend on age, experience, and ability (Bernd Simmons
23) . The author s ideas that fans believe that players pay is determined by age, experience, and ability
is a useful belief but sheds light on the difficult problem of realizing an athlete must be hardworking
to be most of the characteristics that fans believe provide the best compensation. By focusing on how
fans believes salaries depend on age, ability, and experience, the author overlooks the deeper problem
of players who are very talented and hardworking but old of age for an athlete which might affect their
salary; I believe this is unfair because age is just a number. In addition, North American players unions
in European soccer have been less effective in bargaining over salaries and employment terms (Bernd
Simmons 8) . This connects with the claim because many North American soccer players can t be
negotiated as much due to the extra work that was put in by them. This proves what I learned is true
because many athletes that put in the extra effort can t be bargained as much due to the reasoning of
their ability of playing their sport very well. To wrap thing up,

A Disturbing Look At The Insatiable Desires Within Us All
Nymphomaniac: a Disturbing Look at the Insatiable Desires Within us All Lars von Trier has made
many shocking films that most people find inappropriate and vulgar. The films Nymphomaniac
Volumes I and II by Lars Von Trier are controversial in nature, but behind their harsh surface imagery
lies a deep and powerful message that beautifully depicts the insatiable desires and discontent of the
human experience. The script of the film follows a young woman named Joe through her life,
examining the experiences and consequences of her sex addiction. Joe, is an intelligent beautiful
woman, who s main enjoyment in life is sex. She describes a feeling of apathy and bewilderment
towards most things. The role of Joe in the film is broken down in past and present time; von Trier
cast Charlotte Gainsbourg as Joe in real time, in her middle aged years. Stacy Martin plays the role of
Joe in past scenes during her adolescence and young adulthood. The storyline is told through a middle
aged Joe s life narrative; It begins with her lying beaten in the street, she is found and taken in by a
stranger named Seligman, played by Stellan Skarsgård. Seligman is a recluse, shut off from the
outside world; he is an asexual scholar who lives vicariously through the synthetic knowledge he s
acquired through literature. Because of this, he is curious about the story behind Joe s current state.
Joe explains to him that she is a bad human being and deserving of the abuse she has received.

However, statistics that more fatalities occur on rural roads than urban highways. One of the reasons is
roadway designs. For instance, there are curvier roads than urban streets. Second, more narrow lanes

Why?
When the mass of the sun is 1000 and the planet is 10. Because the mass of the sun is 10x larger than
the planet.
Question Five:
What makes the length of the year increase and decrease? Why?
The closer to the sun a planet is the shorter the year and the farther away it is the longer the year.
Question Six:
A planet in a circular orbit would always be the same distance from the sun. What do you notice about
orbits with the shortest years? Why? Shorter year = closer to the sun. The closer it is to the sun the
more of a pull the gravity has on it which causes it to orbit quicker.

Comparing The Turtles In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
In John Steinbeck s novel The Grapes of Wrath he devoted a whole chapter about a turtle crossing the
road, but it was not just a filler, it had a deeper meaning to it. The chapter told of a turtle that had to
cross a highway and along the way it encounters a few hardships. The real reason Steinbeck added the
turtle was to have it symbolize the Joad s journey from Oklahoma to California. During the Joad s trip
to the west coast they definitely had their fair share of bumps in the road, just like the turtle
experienced while crossing the road. Despite all of the obstacles faced by both the Joad s and the
turtle, they both managed to make it to their destination and achieve their goal. The turtle is a symbol
of the Joad family and migrant workers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of the chapter, the turtle was able to reach the other side, but it was not easy. The turtle

side and eventually the turtle accomplished its goal. The old humorous eyes looked ahead, and the
horny beak opened a little, (Steinbeck 22). This was just after the turtle finished crossing the road, and
it was looking ahead ready to conquer any more challenges that would be thrown at it later. Just like
the turtle, the Joad s also managed achieve their objective by reaching California. For the Joad family
it was also not the simplest thing to do, they encountered a significant amount obstacles and hurdles

Optical Distortion Harvard Business Case
I. Executive summary:
A. Problem statement: Optical Distortion Inc.(ODI) is a small new company, not yet in business, with
a patent for an innovative product designed to prevent chickens from cannibalism behaviors toward
each other. These lenses are used instead of traditional way of debeaking. ODI must develop
marketing strategies about targeting, positioning and optimal pricing to launch its new product.
B. Recommendation: The dilemma ODI faces is whether introduce its product at a higher price and

potential competitors.
D. Conclusions: ODI has sufficient evidence to target large farms have 50,000 chickens or over, and
focus on market in California and south Atlantic region in the short term and set an initial high price of
about $0.28 per pair. Although it may appear that ODI may have risk of introducing new products, this
option is actually safest and most profitable for expected sales and penetration. Risk of reluctance to
acceptance new technology, low trained salesforce and new competitors in the future may lead this
strategy less efficient. It is suggested that ODI decrease the selling price of the lenses in the long term
and focus on improving the quality and services and build a solid premium brand image in order to
guarantee market share in the future. It would be better to find multiple ways of advertising and
increasing the customers awareness and accessibility of products.

The Futile Goal of Nicholas Branch in Don DeLillo s Libra...
The vast amount of evidence associated with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, an event
that occurred more than fifty years ago, is still being collected and examined by an array of scientists,
professional historians, and conspiracy theorists. Periodically, with continuous developments and
improvements in technology, new information is being discovered that either relates to an existing
theory about the assassination or inspires additional assumptions about the identity and location of
another supposed shooter. According to author Don DeLillo, the immense quantity of the information
pertaining to the heinous crime committed in Dallas on November 22nd of 1963 will never lead to or

He feels as if he must make meaning out of all the material in his possession and so, because he does
not know how to accomplish this, he remains perpetually immobile in his attempt to uncover and write
the true history of the assassination. Branch s objective to investigate all the facts about the
assassination places him in a chaotic situation. It is impossible for him to account for every detail,
fact, and occurrence linked to Kennedy s assassination because there is already too much information
for him to examine and much that has yet to be discovered. Christopher M. Mott, in his essay Libra
and the Subject of History , comments on Branch s need for absolute closure and the chaotic results
that arise: The novel implies that the version of the world that informs our government s practices and
dominates our episteme intends to account for every detail of existence. It employs a totalizing
discourse, a discourse of rational examination and explanation. Libra clearly indicates that this
penchant for total explanation leads, in fact, to total chaos. We simply cannot account for every detail,
every nuance. (143)
Branch s desire to piece together the factual events of the assassination has led to his abandonment of
life. He will forever be confined to his, as DeLillo describes, room of theories (57) since he must study
everything about the event. However, the CIA is constantly supplying him

Four Types Of Mayfly s Adaption
Suction: the force that, by a pressure differential, attracts a substance or object to the region of lower
pressure. Adaption 5 There are four different types of mayfly s: the swimmers, the clingers, the
burrowers, and the crawlers. All of these different types of mayfly s have physical adaptations on their
body to help them do the thing they were designed to do. This is an important adaptation because no
matter if it s swimming, clinging, crawling, or burrowing, all mayflies depend on the thing they re
good at to get food, hide, get away from predators, and thrive. The mayfly nymphs that depend on
swimming to live have flat body s and strong legs spread out from each side. Having a flat body help s
reduce the power of the stream and strong legs help push the mayfly forward when it swims. These
adaptations allow swimming mayfly s to fight against the water s current and move freely even in the
swiftest streams. Being fast in the water can also help these mayfly nymphs to escape from predators.
Some mayfly nymph species that are good at swimming are Baetis, Acentrella, and Isonychia

adapted further to water conditions and have claws like suction cups. These claws and strong legs help

Newer Treatments For Schizophrenia Symptom Management
Newer treatments for schizophrenia symptom management focus on both the DA and the 5 HT
systems in an attempt to alleviate positive, negative and cognitive symptoms (Leucht et al., 2009;
Leucht, Wahlbeck, Hamann, Kissling, 2003). The 5 HT hypothesis of schizophrenia arose from
toxicologic explanations of mental illness that were popular in the 1950s (Osmond, 1958). Toxicologic
explanations received their inspiration from the observation that exogenous substances could produce
effects that resemble certain signs and symptoms of mental illness, such as hallucinations (Osmond,
1958). The 5 HT hypothesis arose based on the observation that hallucinogenic effects, such as those
seen with LSD administration, are mediated by 5 HT agonism, and hence, schizophrenia symptoms
likely arise from a similar mechanism (Baumeister Hawkins, 2004). However, in the 1970s, the 5 HT
hypothesis of schizophrenia was almost completely replaced by the DA hypothesis, only making a
comeback later with the proven effectiveness of the atypical antipsychotics, such as clozapine
(Baumeister Hawkins, 2004).
While the main action of typical antipsychotics is on the D2 receptor, atypical antipsychotics show
enhanced activity at 5 HT receptors with a low affinity for D2 receptors (Divac et al., 2014). Atypical
antipsychotics are more effective in reducing cognitive and negative symptoms and result in fewer
EPS than the typical antipsychotics (Davis, Chen, Glick, 2003). The high binding affinity

The Relationship Between Sam Spade And The Maltese Falcon...
Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers
development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and
American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that
perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that the
American hardboiled novel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and the self
development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops her
protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the world and is
given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. The two novels contrast either drastically in plot
development and the types of crimes, which influences the character s views of their own lives.
The Maltese Falcon begins by quickly establishing Sam Spade as a morally complex character after
his affair with his partner s wife, even though he is supposed to be the protagonist. Sam Spade s
opening description as a blond devil let the readers begin to picture his cynicism. Readers can t expect
the normal actions of a protagonist as they can in Gaudy Night. In a sub genre of Mystery, this moral
questioning plays on the emotional mystery of not knowing fully that the protagonist is actually going
to be the hero. Not only questioning if he s the hero, but questioning if he might possibly be the

The Gnostics were dualists and they claimed there must be two Gods: a God of the material world in
which we live in now, and a Supreme, remote and unknowable Divine Being. The God of the material
world was called a  Demiurge (a term once used by Plato) or  Creator [7]. The Demiurge God
was the immediate source of creation and ruled the world we lived in. This God was the God of the
Jews. Valentius, a Gnostic theologian, further claimed that the emergence of the Demiurge was due to
the fall of Sophia the last of the three  aeons . The spiritual world or  pleroma is compromised
of 30  aeons emanated by the Primal Ground of Being. Sophia was one of these  aeons .[8]
The Gnostics argued that the God of the Jews either did not know about the Supreme Being or if he
did know, he concealed the identity. The Gnostics went on to argue that Jesus Christ came as a
messenger of the Supreme Being to bring  gnosis . As he was Divine, he temporarily inhabited a
human body which was that of Jesus. He did not die and he was not resurrected. They were just Â

In 19th century England, manners played a big role. In her book Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
portrays many different aspects of English social manners in the 1800s, and these facets of English
etiquette, including traveling etiquette, social propriety, and dancing, greatly affect the plot of the
book.
One aspect of English social etiquette was the set of strict rules for how one was to act to appear as a
socially adept person and therefore a desirable match for marriage. They were for the most part
unspoken rules, but during the 19th century there began to be a growing selection of etiquette books

Because of these two characters different behavior at this first ball, they establish their reputations;

Mr. Bingley through dancing also got an opportunity to show Jane that he cared about her; in the
1800s, if a gentleman asked to dance with a lady twice it usually meant that said gentleman was
interested in the lady. At the first ball, Mr. Bingley danced with [Jane] twice... (Austen 279) and
thereby showed his affection for her, an affection that grows stronger throughout Pride and Prejudice.
Dancing also affects the plot of Pride and Prejudice. During the ball at Netherfield, Darcy dances with

begins to flourish. As he is dancing with her, they have a little argument. After the dance, Darcy

Many youngsters can have a hard time understanding parents and other people who belong to elder

why exactly are the characters from the different generations having such a hard time understanding

Violet finds can be compared to her own relationship with her mother. Violet wants to take care of it,
like she wants her mother to take care of her. Violet is an innocent child, and does not know what she
is doing are wrong. First time she sees Virgin Mary, she is lighten up by candles, which symbolizes

The Discovery Of Polymer And Plastic Demand
When many units of repeating molecules react together, monomers, the reaction will yield a product in
the form of a polymer (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). The discovery of polymers began in 1920,
with the belief of Hermann Staudinger, that there existed a molecule consisting of many smaller
repeating molecules, under the name macromolecule (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). Nowadays,
polymer and plastic demand is even higher than that of copper, aluminium, and even steel, due to their
versatile applications in many different industries (Matse1.matse.illinois.edu, 2016). Polymer
synthesis can be either synthetic or natural, and can produce many forms of polymers, depending on
the involved monomers, and the intended purpose for said polymers (Essentialchemicalindustry.org,
2016). This process involves three main steps, initiation or separating of the double bonds of the to be
monomer, propagation or the joining of these monomers, and termination, when the desired chain
length has been reached (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). History is brimful with scientific
discoveries both intentional, and completely accidental, however, it can be seen that the majority of
polymers were crafted due to societal demand, although the method of actual synthesis initially may
have been serendipitous. Two of the polymers scientifically researched and synthesised due to demand
of the times were synthetic rubber, and Bakelite (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016).
Many polymers were researched and

History Of Southwest Airlines Operations Management

lower cost than other airlines, it also is able to differentiate itself from competitors through excellent
customer service and through response in the form of rapid airport turn around times and a larger
number of flight options than its competitors. There are two main constants that have been critical to
its success. From a corporate culture standpoint, the company values and empowers employees at all
levels, creating a favorable labor relations climate. From an operations standpoint, the company has
maintained the same strategic focus in four key areas that have kept the profits rolling in despite
external upheavals, such as spikes in fuel prices, mega mergers that solidified competition, and even
the financial meltdown of 2008 and the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which saw drastic cutbacks in both

million other things, said Cristina De Rossi, an anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate College in
London. The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. According to
People Culture, within its vast area, Nigeria has over 250 different ethnic groups, all with their own
languages and heritage. Cultures are made and followed according to the society or family one comes
from or was born in.
According to USA Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette, Americans are extremely informal,
friendly, and call most people by their first name. Most people who come to the United States may
already know a few things about the people through TV. Although this is of course a skewed reality
some of the stereotypes are true, especially American friendliness and informality. People tend to not
wait to be introduced, will begin to speak with strangers as they stand in a queue, sit next to each other
at an event, etc. Americans are very casual in greeting. A handshake, a smile, and a hello are all that is
needed, which I really agree with but in Nigeria, where I came

Forensic Ballistics Field
Being in the forensic ballistics field it is very crucial for being highly educated on evidence handling
and also documenting the evidence. In all forms of law enforcement it is mentioned on how important
the care taking in evidence handling is but for forensic ballistic it is emphasized more than usual
because the forensic ballistic experts can testify in court as an expert. In this field there are many
different sorts of evidence that the expert may come across but majority of the evidence that revolves
around them are related some way to firearms. The type of evidence that forensic ballistic evidence
will usually be tied with firearms in some way and can be something as small as a bullet fragment or
as large as hundreds of cartridges. Bullet

Ice Age Psychology
Family movie nighttime, the smell of butter and cheese from the popcorn makes me hungry. Pop, pop,
pop, the popcorns are making from the microwave. The house smells like a movie theater. Light out,
blankets out, pillows out popcorns out, TV on, it is time for the movie. Every weekend, we usually
have a night where we watch a movie together. Sometimes we watch funny, fantasy, mystery, and even
sci fi movies. But tonight we will be watching Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
My family love watching Ice Age movies, they are humorous. The movie starts out with Scrat the
squirrel struggling to get the acorn. Scrat is just a funny character, he always messes things
up.Dinosaurs, this movie are getting much better. Suddenly, there is this weasel named

African Americans Have Been Victims Of Racist And...
African Americans have been victims of racist and discriminatory practices since they were forcibly
shipped to America in the 1600s (Chaney Robertson, 2013). Racism is defined as a belief system that
justifies the racial and ethnic inequality of minority members. Discrimination is a specific behavior
aimed at denying persons of a particular race equal access to societal rewards. These two heinous
attitudes and behaviors have been forcibly brought to the attention of the public by the media in
scenarios of police brutality and unequal practices toward minority individuals; specifically African
American men. Rodney King, Malice Green, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, Eric Garner,
and Walter Scott are all African American men that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the verdict LA immediately exploded into violence which took the lives of 60 people and cost
the city an estimated one billion dollars in property damage (Sigelman et al., 1997). Most Americans,
both black and white were surprised about the jury verdict with 92% of blacks and 64% whites
indicated on a survey that the officers should have been convicted. Black men are constantly prime
targets of white supremacy (Johnson Bryan, 2017). In 2014, Michael Brown was gunned down in the
streets of Ferguson, Missouri by a white police officer which quickly sparked protests across the
nation (Chernega, 2016). The Governor declared Missouri in a state of emergency in fear of what may
happen after the grand jury decided on the fate of Officer Darren Wilson. After over 100 days of trial
the jury decided to not convict the officer of murder and there was an immediate response of the
public. Activists began using hashtag Black Lives Matter to bring attention to these violent incidents
as well as the continual systematic abuse of black members of society by the police. Violence, such as
this, against black males are learned though a socially instilled view of race. Society takes cues about
how to treat African American men from past and current stereotypes that often misrepresent them
(Johnson Bryan, 2017). This vilification of black boys and criminalization of their behavior leads to
the unjust killing of black men. It is clear the racism

Star Life Cycle
The life cycle of star is on an eternal cycle of birth, death and regeneration where the gases that form
stars are ejected by the very stars when they die. This all starts with the helium gas and fusion of
hydrogen. The life cycle of a star is formed from stellar nebula to high mass stars and low mass stars.
Hertzsprung and Russell classified stars on the main sequence of the H R diagram about 1910 that
shows the relationship between luminosities and spectral types.
Stellar Nebula A nebula contains dust and gas where gravity causes these to group together. Before the
star is formed, the protostar will need to attain hydrostatic equilibrium by balancing the gravity getting
atoms in and pushing heat and light out with radiation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are very bright since they have large diameters, but with low surface temperatures compared to
the Sun. When the helium in the core is completely used the core collapses again.
Planetary Nebula Planetary nebula are formed in the outer core of the star that are vanished when the
star of the Sun s mass changes from a red giant to white dwarf. At this stage all the energy from the
star fades away losing layers and forms a complex structure. White Dwarf White dwarf is very small
with diameter as the Earth and mass similar to the Sun formed when the core of red giant collapsed.
The maximum mass a white dwarf can have is about 1.4 solar masses which is known as
Chandrasekhar limit. A single star can be one mass at the start of life and still evolve into a white
dwarf being 0.6 mass compressed into approximately the volume of the Earth. Even though it is hot, it
is not as bright compared to its temperature of more than 8000° C. However, they cool down and fade
over billions of years.

  • 2. Wicca And Witchcraft Witchcraft is a religion. Wicca is one form of Witchcraft; however, the term Wicca is occasionally applied to Witchcraft in overall. In the United States, most individuals who practice this religion identify themselves as Witches or Wiccans. Wicca is an earth based religion and in some ways is akin to the Native American spirituality. Wicca, which is sometimes called The Craft, Wicce, or The Old Religion, is centered on an ancient religion of nature and love of life. Most federal and governments as well as the U.S. Armed Forces recognize the religion of Wicca. The courts have acknowledged the right of even inmates to perform this religion on the same basis as other religions. In ancient times, people appreciated Nature with its great forces and celebrated the cycles of the seasons and the moon. They understood the spirituality in the sun as well as the moon and in the Earth Herself. When you come right down to it, in all of life. This perspective is in spite of everything, vital to present day Wicca. To most Wiccans, everything in Nature, together with the Goddesses and Gods, is a true aspect of Deity. The elements most often notable in the Craft are the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, which is known as the Triple Goddess of the Moon and in addition the Horned God. These have numerous names in a number of cultures. Wicca is personal, flexible and all encompassing. You will find no two Wiccans observe their faith in exactly the same way but all are accepted. The two theories that have been researched and will be used throughout this paper are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Structural Family Therapy (SFT) because both theories are able to address the issues Amanda is presenting. Ackerman (1958) viewed family work as a special method of treatment of emotional disorders based on dynamically oriented interviews with the whole family. This looks at the who, what, where, when, why, and how of family. The goal is to bring to the surface all the contributors (person or thing) of the issue and map out ways to manage it. In family therapy, the clinician is able to see the role each member plays within the family structure. The clinician can assist the family to develop a family tree to explore different trends or discover unknown facts. For example, in developing this tree of people the family can include cause of death, possible miscarriages, mental health diagnosis of members, illnesses, or any other trend of interest. This can also promote family connectedness by contacting other members or friends of the family to gather information. Structural Family Therapy can also promote a safe environment for individuals to express concerns or feelings to family members. It can improve communication, develop effective problem solving methods, explore values, and experiment with new behaviors (Thayer 1982). The role of the clinician is to keep the sessions family focused. The clinician must recognize who the identified patient is or the client the family system has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both works reflect the theme of obligation versus aspiration, and promote the message that it is difficult to be happy with a career chosen in order to please someone else. In each story, the protagonists feel compelled to follow a path that is not their own, but rather one chosen for them by their parents who are blind to the protagonist s true desires. The narrator in The Boat is conflicted throughout the story as he tries to reconcile his own ambition of attending university with the expectation he will continue the family tradition as a fisherman. He works hard and long for months until his father passes away, which lifts his burden and permits him to follow his true calling by the end of the story. Were not for his father s death, the narrator would have begrudgingly continued in a career chosen by necessity, not desire. In the poem Warren Pryor, the protagonist finds himself in a similar situation, where he is obligated to choose what his parents want for him. His parents are farmers, who want nothing more than their son to have a professional job. They work incredibly hard to put Warren through school, and aspire to spare him from their hardscrabble existence on the meagre acreage that bore them down (Nowlan 4). They are elated when he finally graduates, as described in the line They blushed with pride when, at his graduation,/they watched him pick up the slender scroll (Nowlan 5 6). When Warren becomes a bank teller, they are grateful that they were successful in giving him what they believe is a better life. In the last stanza, however, it is revealed that Warren did not have a say in his career choice and bore the expectations of his parents in silence. The poem reveals that he said nothing (Nowlan 13) and describe him as having axe hewn hands upon the paper bills/aching with empty strength and throttled rage (Nowlan 15 16). A character with good communication skills can send messages clearly and understand clearly. To communicate well one must have emotional intelligence. They use their verbal skills to enhance the non verbal emotional cues and get the point across. In stark contrast, there are the characters that do not communicate well. These characters send mixed signals, say words without meaning, or completely misuse words. The verbal communication rarely explains the emotions they may be exhibiting. As he was very talented, he also cared and loved for everyone. He would help those in need and enjoy it too. All around Roberto Clemente was a wonderful man. In these next five pages I will be talking about his life and how he was a good samaritan throughout his life. Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a house of concrete and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina, Puerto Rico. He was the youngest of seven children. His father was a foreman overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped deliver sand and gravel for a construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store and did other jobs on the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the family and buy himself a bicycle. Throwing the javelin strengthened his arm for throwing a baseball. Roberto was a very athletic boy. Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. Being informed that the school had closed on account of the death of one of its employees, the shah angrily scolded the minister of education for failing to uphold a standard of uniformity by allowing one particular school to suspend its classes. Having the tribal people loyal to the central government, to Iran, by promoting nationalism would help the government to better control them by making sure that they do not rebel or do anything that would hurt the interests or the power central government or of Iran. And one way to destroy the independence of the tribes was to force the nomads to become sedentary, to settle down so that the government could keep a better eye on them. Customers are more interested on the brand identity with much preference on the emergent ones. They tend to be loyal to price elasticity and hence companies are left to compete in cutting costs. One way would be that our world we live in values education a lot, more than a lot of things. In Plato: Allegory of the Cave the prisoners value education just as much as we do in the modern century. The prisoners praise one another if they guess the right shadow that is going to be displayed. If they guess the wrong shadow then they make fun of one another. As they sit there in the little cave for most of their life they do not really understand or know what education is but they do think the shadow game makes them smarter than the other prisoners. Roughly spanning the years between Reconstruction and the dawn of the new century, the Gilded Age saw rapid industrialization, urbanization, the construction of great transcontinental railroads, innovations in science and technology, and the rise of big business. Mechanization and marketing were the keys to success in this age: companies that could mass produce products and convince people to buy them accumulated enormous amounts of wealth, while companies that could not were forced out of business by brutal competition. Railroads were the linchpin in the new industrialized economy. The railroad industry enabled raw materials, finished products, food, and people to travel cross country in a matter of days, as opposed to the months or years that it took just prior to the Civil War. By the end of the war, the United States boasted some 35,000 miles of track, mostly in the industrialized North. By the turn of the century, that number had jumped to almost 200,000 miles, linking the North, South, and West. With these railroads making travel easier, millions of rural Americans flocked to the cities, and by 1900, nearly 40 percent of the population lived in urban areas. By the twentieth century, the rise of big business and the large migration of Americans from the countryside to the cities caused a shift in political awareness, as elected officials saw the need to address the growing economic and social problems that developed along with the urban boom. • 15. Analysis Of Mahan s Advocacy For Sea Power Against... In many scholarly and military circles, the writings of Mahan and Mackinder are often portrayed as two purist theories opposing one another. Scholars pit Mahan s advocacy for sea power against Mackinder s insights into the benefits of land power and soon the real genius of both is lost. (For examples, see Dodds and Sidaway 292, 2004 and Colls 238 239, 2002 as cited in Dodds and Sidaway 293, 2004 and Holmes and Yoshihara 25, 2005). In truth, in almost every respect, Mahan s and Mackinder s views are complementary. While Mahan does emphasize the importance of sea power to a nation s economic prosperity and security, his passionate insight is a far cry from any assertion against the importance of land power. Conversely, Mackinder s insights focus quite extensively on the potential for a country to develop a powerful land force on the core of the Eurasian landmass, but again we see throughout his writing the underlying assumption of the importance of sea power. Both men agreed on so many salient points that it is far better to read their works as a whole and thereby glean the collective wisdom of their perspectives, than to analyze them separately as two opposing schools of thought. In this way, one can see that their complementary insights are greater than the sum of their individual works. There are a few scholars that recognize this unfortunate trend of depicting a false land power vs. sea power debate. Jon Sumida is one who acknowledges that the Mahan texts are often ... • 16. Conch Shell Symbolism What does the conch shell in Lord of the Flies truly represent? In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of young boys are stranded on an island where they try to maintain a civilization far away from society. The conch shell that Piggy and Ralph find is used to create a small democracy on the island. It is a symbol of the civilization on the island, the order that the boys have, and the power that a single person can possess. It represents how much of a connection they have to society, and the degree of civilization that still remains. The conch is an important part of their survival because without the conch, the boys can no longer live in harmony with one another and will eventually destroy each other. Without order and civilization, the island cannot be called a society. They can no longer hold themselves together, and have a higher chance of destruction. Over time, the boys begin to lose sight of civilization. When the conch is finally destroyed, the order between them is destroyed as well. The conch shell symbolizes the boys civilization, order, and power. At the beginning of the story, the conch is emphasized as a symbol of order, as that is the first idea that comes up when an assembly is established. When the conch is blown, all of the boys head to the mountain where Piggy and Ralph are located. The conch constituted order for them and allowed them to start a civilization in the first place. There are many employees that go the extra mile and produce more for their company, but they often never receive anything extra in return. Due to this, they are less motivated to go the extra mile in the future. In contrast, incentive pay is beneficial to an organization s overall production efficiency and effectiveness. First of all, a convenient starting point for an analysis of pay determination of team sports players is the marginal productivity theory, which is the workhorse of modern labor economics (Bernd Simmons 1) .This connects with the claim because the marginal productivity theory includes that performance ends up determining how much the athlete gets paid. This proves what I learned is true because the theory shows how athletes relates to a worker on how if they work , then incentive compensation is what is rewarded as a salary is for an athlete. Although salary is determined by hardwork, many fans may believe player pay to be arbitrarily determined, statistical studies have shown that player salaries in team sports on both sides of the Atlantic depend on age, experience, and ability (Bernd Simmons 23) . The author s ideas that fans believe that players pay is determined by age, experience, and ability is a useful belief but sheds light on the difficult problem of realizing an athlete must be hardworking to be most of the characteristics that fans believe provide the best compensation. By focusing on how fans believes salaries depend on age, ability, and experience, the author overlooks the deeper problem of players who are very talented and hardworking but old of age for an athlete which might affect their salary; I believe this is unfair because age is just a number. In addition, North American players unions in European soccer have been less effective in bargaining over salaries and employment terms (Bernd Simmons 8) . This connects with the claim because many North American soccer players can t be negotiated as much due to the extra work that was put in by them. This proves what I learned is true because many athletes that put in the extra effort can t be bargained as much due to the reasoning of their ability of playing their sport very well. Adaption 5 There are four different types of mayfly s: the swimmers, the clingers, the burrowers, and the crawlers. All of these different types of mayfly s have physical adaptations on their body to help them do the thing they were designed to do. This is an important adaptation because no matter if it s swimming, clinging, crawling, or burrowing, all mayflies depend on the thing they re good at to get food, hide, get away from predators, and thrive. The mayfly nymphs that depend on swimming to live have flat body s and strong legs spread out from each side. Having a flat body help s reduce the power of the stream and strong legs help push the mayfly forward when it swims. These adaptations allow swimming mayfly s to fight against the water s current and move freely even in the swiftest streams. • 30. Newer Treatments For Schizophrenia Symptom Management Newer treatments for schizophrenia symptom management focus on both the DA and the 5 HT systems in an attempt to alleviate positive, negative and cognitive symptoms (Leucht et al., 2009; Leucht, Wahlbeck, Hamann, Kissling, 2003). The 5 HT hypothesis of schizophrenia arose from toxicologic explanations of mental illness that were popular in the 1950s (Osmond, 1958). Toxicologic explanations received their inspiration from the observation that exogenous substances could produce effects that resemble certain signs and symptoms of mental illness, such as hallucinations (Osmond, 1958). The 5 HT hypothesis arose based on the observation that hallucinogenic effects, such as those seen with LSD administration, are mediated by 5 HT agonism, and hence, schizophrenia symptoms likely arise from a similar mechanism (Baumeister Hawkins, 2004). However, in the 1970s, the 5 HT hypothesis of schizophrenia was almost completely replaced by the DA hypothesis, only making a comeback later with the proven effectiveness of the atypical antipsychotics, such as clozapine (Baumeister Hawkins, 2004). While the main action of typical antipsychotics is on the D2 receptor, atypical antipsychotics show enhanced activity at 5 HT receptors with a low affinity for D2 receptors (Divac et al., 2014). Atypical antipsychotics are more effective in reducing cognitive and negative symptoms and result in fewer EPS than the typical antipsychotics (Davis, Chen, Glick, 2003). • 31. The Relationship Between Sam Spade And The Maltese Falcon... Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that the American hardboiled novel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and the self development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops her protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the world and is given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. The two novels contrast either drastically in plot development and the types of crimes, which influences the character s views of their own lives. The Maltese Falcon begins by quickly establishing Sam Spade as a morally complex character after his affair with his partner s wife, even though he is supposed to be the protagonist. Sam Spade s opening description as a blond devil let the readers begin to picture his cynicism. Readers can t expect the normal actions of a protagonist as they can in Gaudy Night. In a sub genre of Mystery, this moral questioning plays on the emotional mystery of not knowing fully that the protagonist is actually going to be the hero. The Diversity Found in Christianity in Its First Three Centuries  For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. (1Cor 12: 12 13) The Christian religion is said to be a  diverse phenomenon .[1] This is because there is so much diversity existing in it although it claims to be a religion with unity based at the very core of its teachings. The Gnostics were dualists and they claimed there must be two Gods: a God of the material world in which we live in now, and a Supreme, remote and unknowable Divine Being. The God of the material world was called a  Demiurge (a term once used by Plato) or  Creator [7]. The Demiurge God was the immediate source of creation and ruled the world we lived in. This God was the God of the Jews. Valentius, a Gnostic theologian, further claimed that the emergence of the Demiurge was due to the fall of Sophia the last of the three  aeons . The spiritual world or  pleroma is compromised of 30  aeons emanated by the Primal Ground of Being. Sophia was one of these  aeons .[8] The Gnostics argued that the God of the Jews either did not know about the Supreme Being or if he did know, he concealed the identity. The Gnostics went on to argue that Jesus Christ came as a messenger of the Supreme Being to bring  gnosis . As he was Divine, he temporarily inhabited a human body which was that of Jesus. He did not die and he was not resurrected. Manners and Etiquette of Pride and Prejudice Rebekah Johnson Mrs. Tencza Late European History 21 November 2012 Do s and Don ts of Pride and Prejudice In 19th century England, manners played a big role. In her book Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen portrays many different aspects of English social manners in the 1800s, and these facets of English etiquette, including traveling etiquette, social propriety, and dancing, greatly affect the plot of the book. One aspect of English social etiquette was the set of strict rules for how one was to act to appear as a socially adept person and therefore a desirable match for marriage. • 37. The Discovery Of Polymer And Plastic Demand When many units of repeating molecules react together, monomers, the reaction will yield a product in the form of a polymer (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). The discovery of polymers began in 1920, with the belief of Hermann Staudinger, that there existed a molecule consisting of many smaller repeating molecules, under the name macromolecule (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). Nowadays, polymer and plastic demand is even higher than that of copper, aluminium, and even steel, due to their versatile applications in many different industries (Matse1.matse.illinois.edu, 2016). Polymer synthesis can be either synthetic or natural, and can produce many forms of polymers, depending on the involved monomers, and the intended purpose for said polymers (Essentialchemicalindustry.org, 2016). This process involves three main steps, initiation or separating of the double bonds of the to be monomer, propagation or the joining of these monomers, and termination, when the desired chain length has been reached (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). History is brimful with scientific discoveries both intentional, and completely accidental, however, it can be seen that the majority of polymers were crafted due to societal demand, although the method of actual synthesis initially may have been serendipitous. Two of the polymers scientifically researched and synthesised due to demand of the times were synthetic rubber, and Bakelite (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). Many polymers were researched and ... While its main competitive advantage is being able to provide service at a lower cost than other airlines, it also is able to differentiate itself from competitors through excellent customer service and through response in the form of rapid airport turn around times and a larger number of flight options than its competitors. There are two main constants that have been critical to its success. From a corporate culture standpoint, the company values and empowers employees at all levels, creating a favorable labor relations climate. From an operations standpoint, the company has maintained the same strategic focus in four key areas that have kept the profits rolling in despite external upheavals, such as spikes in fuel prices, mega mergers that solidified competition, and even the financial meltdown of 2008 and the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which saw drastic cutbacks in both business and leisure discretionary travel (Mutzabaugh, 2014). Black men are constantly prime targets of white supremacy (Johnson Bryan, 2017). In 2014, Michael Brown was gunned down in the streets of Ferguson, Missouri by a white police officer which quickly sparked protests across the nation (Chernega, 2016).
