Research: Irn Bru
Describe how you located, retrieved and stored information:
• YouTube adverts
Client research: Notes
• irn bru the Scottish drink is the client
• They make fizzy drinks in cans and bottles
• Very bold (orange) colours, they use shock factor to draw in audiences,
• most adverts are linear and can spread between realistic and non realistic.
• The adverts don’t necessarily have a narrative over voice but do have story's attached to
them.
• The appeal is forwarded towards teens upwards and is not massively for young children as
of some adverts shock factor ‘fanny’ /. don’t be a cant be a can being a slogan they use.
• fanominom do do do do do is catchy gets stuck in your head easy
• It appeals to make you calm after you drink it witch persuades people to buy it
• Parody snowman advert
• Rewards power
• Comedy and humour
• Colours, still adverts , video adverts , pictures used, fonts used, words used.
Brand appeal
The main colours used re bold and defined this makes them stand out
more in a crowd of over marketers. They colours used are orange,
blue and white, they complement each other well witch is appealing to
audiences. It also help the brand be one and its own making when the
people think or see those colours together think of Irn Bru.
The font used on the packaging is clear and easy to read, this makes it
appealing because even if you have bad eye sight you are able to
read and make out the lettering. The writing is the main stand point on
the products so you know what you are picking up.
The colour orange ranging from the colour of a can to the liquid inside
sets it apart from brands such as Pepsi and coke helping the brand be
recognized among the market . An exception in a
different colour pallet used is the sugar free version
Which sports orange white an outline blue and silver.
This helps people with dietary needs distinguish which
one they need to buy without trouble.
Video advertisement
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIxCFo5t3AIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yZOab5gl-4
Irn Bru’s video advertisement can be described as humorous, amusing, engaging and controversial featuring content
that can catch audience with its shock factor.
For example the 1982 movie the snowman, which is familiar to many is used to publicize irn bru. In summary of the
advert the young boy doesn't sharing his can with his snowman friend telling him to get his own and the snowman
drops the boy from the air to land in the snow so he can steel the young boys can.
This amusingly shocking advert got some lash back, however the shock factor of the advertisement has lead them to
be watched even more. The add used humor and comedy, childhood to appeal to audiences. This advertising
scheme has worked for the brand as many more advertisements where released.
Another example being the ‘fanny’ advert this advert used reward power and the images of happy families ,
successful romance and love and comedy a humor to appeal to audiences.
Most adverts are linear and can spread between realistic and non realistic. The adverts don’t necessarily have a
narrative over voice but do have story's attached to them. The appeal is forwarded towards teens upwards and is
not massively for young children as of some adverts shock factor
Slogans
Some slogans used in irn bru advertisement can be viewed
controversially as they can be misheard or miss read. Such as ‘ don’t be a
cant be a can’ the voice over in videos is in a Scottish accent and can be
hysterical to some audiences and not to others. While their are other
slogan like ‘irn bru gets you through their main goal is to make you think
you need a drink of their product l; like other suppliers they use reward
power of a positive benefit like getting you through the day.
They used persuasion of comedy and humor to make the product more
appealing via their advertising methods.
Still advertisement
Funny ,Shocking and Simplistic summarizes how irn bru
advertised with still adverts. They used simple pictures to
capture the caption written so you can take a quick look
and recognize what they are talking about. The comedic
line of words written appeal to the audience and give
them a quick laugh so they remember the advertisement
and the brand. Finally the shock factor helps the
advertisement spread around as people share and laugh.
Market research:
The country with the most consumed carbonated sort drink in 2014
by a strong lead is America. The lowest being Colombia. This means
more advertisement is being view in America then anywhere else.
This is unfortunate for irn bru as it was banned in America because it
contains an additive that the FDA doesn't approve of making them
less known to American audiences
Irn bru s the most popular Scottish drink and the number one
selling in Scotland they are owed by AGbarr a company who also
produce tango, j20, Robinsons and hold authority to make Pepsi
for the UK market.
Market research:
Irn bru has many competitors such as the Coca Cola and Pepsi company's, they all aim for the
same general target audiences of teens to adults. However, coca cola and Pepsi have a more
consumer population as they are not banned in America. irn bru’s main consumers generates
from Scotland and even out beets coca cola, being the most popular soft drink in the country,
having 20 cans sold a second
Irn bru is part of the fizzy drink market and makes an annual renew of £238.094 in comparison to
the Coca Cola and Pepsi company's who make over 44 million and 1 million annually. These
differences in sales can be for many different reasons, for example taste, familiarity and
advertisement. Coca Cola advertises in many different ways that have even ben innovative to other
company's marketing plans. An example of this is how they engage their audiences by putting
names on bottles and cans of their drinks so the customer has a more personal experience drink to
find their customized drink. Another reason that AGbarr is a less known company is because they
Sponsor and advertise les than their competitor's getting their name out in their less and make less
profit.

  • 9. Research: Irn Bru Describe how you located, retrieved and stored information: • YouTube adverts
  • 10. Client research: Notes • irn bru the Scottish drink is the client • They make fizzy drinks in cans and bottles • Very bold (orange) colours, they use shock factor to draw in audiences, • most adverts are linear and can spread between realistic and non realistic. • The adverts don’t necessarily have a narrative over voice but do have story's attached to them. • The appeal is forwarded towards teens upwards and is not massively for young children as of some adverts shock factor ‘fanny’ /. don’t be a cant be a can being a slogan they use. • fanominom do do do do do is catchy gets stuck in your head easy • It appeals to make you calm after you drink it witch persuades people to buy it • Parody snowman advert • Rewards power • Comedy and humour • Colours, still adverts , video adverts , pictures used, fonts used, words used.
  • 11. Brand appeal The main colours used re bold and defined this makes them stand out more in a crowd of over marketers. They colours used are orange, blue and white, they complement each other well witch is appealing to audiences. It also help the brand be one and its own making when the people think or see those colours together think of Irn Bru. The font used on the packaging is clear and easy to read, this makes it appealing because even if you have bad eye sight you are able to read and make out the lettering. The writing is the main stand point on the products so you know what you are picking up. The colour orange ranging from the colour of a can to the liquid inside sets it apart from brands such as Pepsi and coke helping the brand be recognized among the market . An exception in a different colour pallet used is the sugar free version Which sports orange white an outline blue and silver. This helps people with dietary needs distinguish which one they need to buy without trouble.
  • 12. Video advertisement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIxCFo5t3AIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yZOab5gl-4 Irn Bru’s video advertisement can be described as humorous, amusing, engaging and controversial featuring content that can catch audience with its shock factor. For example the 1982 movie the snowman, which is familiar to many is used to publicize irn bru. In summary of the advert the young boy doesn't sharing his can with his snowman friend telling him to get his own and the snowman drops the boy from the air to land in the snow so he can steel the young boys can. This amusingly shocking advert got some lash back, however the shock factor of the advertisement has lead them to be watched even more. The add used humor and comedy, childhood to appeal to audiences. This advertising scheme has worked for the brand as many more advertisements where released. Another example being the ‘fanny’ advert this advert used reward power and the images of happy families , successful romance and love and comedy a humor to appeal to audiences. Most adverts are linear and can spread between realistic and non realistic. The adverts don’t necessarily have a narrative over voice but do have story's attached to them. The appeal is forwarded towards teens upwards and is not massively for young children as of some adverts shock factor
  • 13. Slogans Some slogans used in irn bru advertisement can be viewed controversially as they can be misheard or miss read. Such as ‘ don’t be a cant be a can’ the voice over in videos is in a Scottish accent and can be hysterical to some audiences and not to others. While their are other slogan like ‘irn bru gets you through their main goal is to make you think you need a drink of their product l; like other suppliers they use reward power of a positive benefit like getting you through the day. They used persuasion of comedy and humor to make the product more appealing via their advertising methods.
  • 14. Still advertisement Funny ,Shocking and Simplistic summarizes how irn bru advertised with still adverts. They used simple pictures to capture the caption written so you can take a quick look and recognize what they are talking about. The comedic line of words written appeal to the audience and give them a quick laugh so they remember the advertisement and the brand. Finally the shock factor helps the advertisement spread around as people share and laugh.
  • 15. Market research: The country with the most consumed carbonated sort drink in 2014 by a strong lead is America. The lowest being Colombia. This means more advertisement is being view in America then anywhere else. This is unfortunate for irn bru as it was banned in America because it contains an additive that the FDA doesn't approve of making them less known to American audiences Irn bru s the most popular Scottish drink and the number one selling in Scotland they are owed by AGbarr a company who also produce tango, j20, Robinsons and hold authority to make Pepsi for the UK market.
  • 16. Market research: Irn bru has many competitors such as the Coca Cola and Pepsi company's, they all aim for the same general target audiences of teens to adults. However, coca cola and Pepsi have a more consumer population as they are not banned in America. irn bru’s main consumers generates from Scotland and even out beets coca cola, being the most popular soft drink in the country, having 20 cans sold a second Irn bru is part of the fizzy drink market and makes an annual renew of £238.094 in comparison to the Coca Cola and Pepsi company's who make over 44 million and 1 million annually. These differences in sales can be for many different reasons, for example taste, familiarity and advertisement. Coca Cola advertises in many different ways that have even ben innovative to other company's marketing plans. An example of this is how they engage their audiences by putting names on bottles and cans of their drinks so the customer has a more personal experience drink to find their customized drink. Another reason that AGbarr is a less known company is because they Sponsor and advertise les than their competitor's getting their name out in their less and make less profit.

  • 31. Planning Docs (TV Advert):locations Our location for filming will be on the third floor near the vending machines. This is because the third floor is quieter then other locations our scout looked at and it has good lighting as it is closer to the glass ceiling that lets the sun in well. The angles for filming are also very open so the space doesn't look looed cramped.
