5. Capsule Emporium
Melbourne
Brand is an integral component in everything
we create â be it a product presentation,
spatial design or master-planning exercise. We
see someoneâs personal brand as integral as
the brand a range is manufactured under.
With this approach our goal is always to
extract the dna of that brand and articulate
it into a physical space, allowing you, the
customer or employee to physically touch and
feel the brand.
In doing this, we immerse ourselves in the
brands strategy to ensure we are aligned in
our thinking and where possible stretch that
thinking to consider ways of evolving, growing
or completely breaking the mould of what has
come before.
Our designs take us from small intimate
boutique spaces, through to large format
buildings, functional workplaces with varied
bespoke product design along the way.
A relentless goal of delivering spaces that add
to the life of those that use them drives our
team to continually explore the edges of what
is considered normal.

8. OUR CLIENTS
We take pride in working with brands
that embrace their customers. We also
really like working with brands that know
their product and know how to trade.
From one off boutiques to global
brands, our mission remains the same
- and that is to extract the essence
of the brand from those closest to it
and deliver on experiences that help
customers touch and feel every aspect
of the brand.
With a complimentary mix of skills at
Prospace, our goal is to integrate into
our clients businesses and fill the gaps
that they may have or compliment their
resources either in region or across
regions to ensure the best possible
result is achieved every time.
Spanning industries, we see the
sales process to be something that
doesnât differ. Customer Service and
the experience that goes with that is
continuous and although the product
changes, regardless of whether its Beer
in a Brewery setting, Boardshorts in an
urban surf shop of residential property in
a sales suite - we deliver with passion.
9. Mr Simple is a gentlemenâs outfitter for all
occasions with stores throughtout Australia
and New Zealand. The brand approached
Prospace Design Studios to design and
build their latest flagship store in Brisbane
at Indooroopilly. Mr Simple were not
interested in blending in with the crowd
with their store design, and our design
team produced a completely unique design
for the mall that otherwise predominantly
features full height glazed shopfronts.
The shopfront from full height timber slats
creates a dynamic and compelling beginning
to the journey in to this new store that
features steel and timber custom joinery
for fixtures and merchandising displays
throughout. Needless to say the store
which recently opened at the beginning of
October 2014, is generating quite a buzz.

11. MIRVAC SALES BOUTIQUE
PAVILLIONS SALES BOUTIQUE
PORTFOLIO
Prospace were engaged late 2015 to
design Mirvacâs largest residential sales
boutique in Australia. The team worked
with a brief to deliver âEveryday Luxuryâ in
an interior space that spoke both about
the personality of the development
itself whilst delivering Mirvacâs consistent
brand values in a physical space through
sharp interior and joinery details and a
carefully selected materials palette.
The space reflected the interior and
exterior of the residential development
through the use of planting, a feature
tree in the centre of the space and
bespoke designed joinery, seating and
tables.
âItâs very us! In terms of getting that
Mirvac look and feel, you guys nailed
it!!â
Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz - Mirvac CEO.

13. BURLEIGH BREWING
BURLEIGH HEADS, QLD
PORTFOLIO
Prospace were approached to design
the new home for Burleigh Brewing
Co. A beer brewing company that is
an institution in Burleigh on the Gold
Coast. Our team took on an ambitious
project to design a building that housed
the brewing facility, a new bar and
offices all under one very large roof!
Prospace designed, and managed
the build of the space that opened
early March 2016. The design of the
interior and exterior focused on a
simple materials palette that balanced
industrial with rustic finishes, with the use
of concrete, timber and fibre cement
cladding. Lighting inside and out played
a big part in setting the right tone, and
a bar made from cast concrete slabs,
pressed in timber, with a hot rolled steel
top provides a striking feature in the
space.
It was a privilege to work with such a
fantastic client and deliver the vision
for their new larger space that critically
needed to remain rooted in authenticity
and community and portray the
companyâs brand values of âBalance,
Character and Soulâ.

15. MR SIMPLE
PACIFIC FAIR
PORTFOLIO
A second store for Mr Simple, this time
at the newly opened extension to Pacific
Fair on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
The brief from the client this time was to
deliver a Palm Springs inspired store that
aligned with the location of the mall by
the coast.
We designed a store that was intended
to effortlessly stand out from the crowd.
The shopfront entirely in white, rendered
to deliver texture and emphasise the
architectural form of the bulkhead and
portal certainly turns head in the mall.
The interior takes inspiration from
Californian hotels such as Ace Hotel with
slatted screens that double up as feature
walls for product and VM display. The
minimal colour and materials palette
allow the brands strong merchandising
style take the lead in the space.

17. TONY BIANCO
PACIFIC FAIR
PORTFOLIO
Prospace recently designed and
managed the build of the new Tony
Bianco store at Pacific Fair on the Gold
Coast. Continuing our relationship with
Australiaâs leading designer of womenâs
fashion footwear.
Our client allowed us to really take the
design concept to the next level with
this store.
As such our team designed a space
that exudes the same luxury as Tony
Biancoâs product, by delivering a high
level of detail through joinery design,
lighting and interior features such as the
rear illuminated mirror at the back of
the store along with luxurious travertine
clad columns and plinths. The evolution
of the store concept is an exciting step
for Tony Bianco that we look forward to
developing in future stores.
â Prospace has significantly
improved the customers
perceived value and position of our
brand! â

19. HALLENSTEIN BROTHERS
CHERMSIDE
PORTFOLIO
Hallenteins, one of New Zealands most
renowned retailers tasked Prospace with
evolving their current retail design, to
deliver stores with impact on the lease
line and relevance to the customer
throughout.
The Westfield Chermside store saw
the first of the new concept delivered,
taking the brand in a new direction, that
not only resonated with the customer,
elevated the brand, but also set the
benchmark in the centre by challenging
the normal.
Pushing the envelope is part of our DNA
and something that our team thrive on,
but its about delivering this in a sensible
and commercial way. The Shopfront
features a glassless facade, instead
replaced with a structural steel and
mesh framework that features signage
and a large random led screen as the
prominent structure to deliver the brands
insane content!
Within the interior we clad the walls
of the store in cement sheeting
with exposed fixings - delivering a
commercial and impactful skin.
âThis is the best Hallenstein store design that Iâve seen. The high level of creativity
in the shopfront design made it an easy decision to support breaking the rules. We
were happy to see no glass used in this shopfront.â
Brian Gorman - GM Retail Design, Scentre Group

21. Capsule at Emporium Melbourne was an
opportunity to work with a retailer that we
had previously designed a store for in the
worldâs first living mall in Sydney, and build on
the existing design language that is all about
sharp style and individuality.
A Basic Design Package service was used for
the design of this store. Prospace prepared
schemes for the unit presenting to the client
mood and visual inspiration, sketch concept
ideas, space planning and 3D renders, that
once were signed off, were developed in to full
store design documentation drawings along
with a detailed design package of fixture and
construction drawings.
Prospace managed the centre approvals
through Colonial First State for the scheme
and liased directly with the project managers,
shop fitters, manufacturers and joiners to
ensure that the project was realised on time
and in budget.

DESIGN CASE STUDY
22. After conducting a design direction workshop
with the client, the Prospace design team
focused on four keys areas when creating a
mood board to convey design inspiration.
Colour dipping, the idea of dipping the
whole store; floors, walls, and fixtures in
another colour. Transparency and the idea of
exclusivity, in the form of screening off part of
the retail space to create a second area within
the unit for VIPs or the display of limited
edition lines in stock. The idea of seeing
people shopping in another space within the
store and wanting to engage in what was
going on behind the screen formed a strong
part of the concept.
Finally, strong VM stories, the Prospace team
identified with the need for flexible but simple
merchandising systems that allowed the
Capsule team to create strong VM stories that
accentuated that sharp individual style that
they are known for.
DESIGN CASE STUDY
MOODBOARD &
INSPIRATION
Hand sketching is the quickest and most
direct route to convey an idea to the client.
Areas of focus were the shopfront and how
we could create a point of difference within
the mall. The idea of a shopfront without
glass, replaced with a lattice like screen of
metal rods within a timber frame was born.
Considering Capsuleâs merchandising
requirements a collection of simple mid floor
plinths and perimeter bays that featured a
variety of shelves, hanging, angled shelves and
puc system with timber dowl face outs were
developed.
After agreeing the direction for the concept
through sketch and mood imagery we
commenced fixture development. The store
needed to be designed to a budget and much
of this hinged on the design and detailing
of the fixtures. We opted for minimal timber
frame joinery for the perimeter units and mid
floor timber floor plinths and counter. Our
rationale throughout the design process was
that the colour palette and idea of âdippingâ
the store in white, including a white resin floor,
would create a striking visual aesthetic and
point of difference for otherwise low cost
fixtures.
SKETCH CONCEPT &
FIXTURE DEVELOPMENT
23. The initial concept came together in final 3D
renders to realise the scheme and form part of
the Emporium design approval package.
The idea of dipping the store in white was
realised with all fixtures, furniture finished in
white paint or powdercoat, all sitting on top of
striking white resin floor.
The sharp white floor was contrasted with
shades of grey above on the walls and
perimeter units, and finished with a dark grey
ceiling. A full width, floor to ceiling orange
fabric screen sitting within a timber frame and
behind sheets of rebar, partitions the second
retail space and fitting rooms, injecting a
pop of colour in to the space and enough
transparency in the retail space to deliver on
the idea of exclusivity that we explored early
on in the concept.
DESIGN CASE STUDY
FINAL RENDERS
The pivitol part of any project for our clients
is the documentation and itâs actually the
stage that we really enjoy. Every nut and bolt
drawing that we produce ensures that stores
are built exactly the way we design them
on time and in budget. The documentation
protects the design intent and gives
perfect clarity to the site teams, joiners and
manufacturers, ensuring that we get the right
level of detail and finish required, therefore we
place a lot of importance on them!
Like with any project, the detail and
documentation stage for Capsule at
Emporium was an oppurtunity to refine details
to get the most cost efficient build.
