Preparing for Release to the App Store
This presentation will take on the perspective of the independent developer and what needs to be considered prior to releasing an App onto Apple’s App Store. While the information shared will be useful to larger companies and corporations, the assumed actor will be an individual one person does it all perspective (as larger companies would need to involve communications, marketing and legal representation for many of the steps to a successful launch). The presentation will include such topics as setting up a relationship with Apple, preparing for a web presence, and how to handle user feedback and suggestions. File system in iOS
The file system in iOS is designed for apps to run independently, without direct access to the file system by users. Each app functions as its own "island". Exceptions include contacts, calendars and photos which apps can access with user approval. Standard app directories include the app bundle, Documents for critical user files, tmp for temporary files, and Library for non-user files. Apps should store large user files in Documents to prevent slowdowns during backups. The iOS sandbox limits damage from compromised apps by restricting access between apps and the system, while not preventing attacks within an app.

LinuxCon Europe 2012 - Tizen Mini Summit
In this talk, Cheng will walk through version 2.0 of the Tizen SDK, the alpha version of which was released to developers in September; the web app development process, Tizen IDE and latest version of the SDK tools will be explained to give web developers an overview of Tizen platform.
The second half of the talk will take a practical approach, focusing on how to port HTML 5 applications to Tizen. Topics covered will include tips and tricks for porting apps and how to make the most of Tizen’s extensive support for W3C/ HTML5 standards.
Cheng will also discuss how the Tizen device APIs are used to ‘fill in the gaps’ in the functionality offered by the W3C APIs.

Mobile Apps are not stand alone applications running on a mobile device anymore. Apps today are complex systems with back-ends hosted on clouds, with application servers, databases, API calls to external systems, and of course a powerful app running on a mobile device. Mobile App development and deployment is further complicated with todays need for supporting multiple mobile devices, with multiple OSes, multiple versions of the OSes, multiple form factors and varied network, CPU, GPU and memory specs.
DevOps - the new and growing movement addresses these development and deployment challenges. The goal of DevOps is to align Dev and Ops by introducing a set of principles and practices such as continuous integration and continuous delivery. Mobile apps take the need for these practices up a level due to their inherent distributed nature. Multi-platform mobile apps need even more care in applying DevOps principles as there are multiple platforms to be targeted, each with its own requirements, quirks, and nuanced needs.
This talk will introduce attendees to the basic practices of DevOps and then take a look at the DevOps challenges specific to cross-platform Mobile apps and present Best Practices to address them.
