Psychological needs:
Employees need to feel belonging and be respected,useful, and a valuable asset
Employees need to feel that they are safe and secure in their work environment and are
provided the necessary resources to ensure safe conditions.
It is the human resources managers duty to ensure a safe working environment
Productivity will suffer as a result of employees feeling unsafe
Safety is major motivational aspect of human resources
Esteem Needs:
People are driven by the fact that they are appreciated,in turn, productivity will rise and so
will job satisfaction
“Individuals are motivated by the desire for strength, for achievement, for adequacy, for
confidence, in the face of the world, and for independence and freedom” Maslow, A.H (1943)
“People strive for the feeling of recognition, attention, importance or appreciation”
Managers should help employees discover their hidden talents and help them realize their full
potential which drives the company closer and quicker to achieving their goals
Decision making-Douglas McGregor’s Theory X Theory Y
Theory X managers believe that:
employees dislike their job so they find ways to avoid it
Are just cogs in the machine and are not creative
The theory X manager needs control the employee to keep up performance
Employees are not intelligent

Theory Y managers believe:
Employees want self-direction
Employees are intelligent, like their jobs, are aligned and work towards the organizations
goals
People enjoy having responsibilities
These managers see employees as creating and valuable assets to the company
Open Carry relation
HR managers need to readdress the psychologicalneeds of the employees so that they feel comfortable and
safe in the workplace with open carry.
New rules and regulations could be created for department employees to adhere by and not necessitated by
the state government.
Allow employees input and creative thoughts on the issue
