The memo reviews resumes for two open positions: HR Generalist and HR Compliance Specialist. Cecil is recommended for an interview for the Compliance Specialist role due to her extensive computer skills and compliance experience. Jane is suited for the Generalist role because of her customer service background and degree, though she lacks the technical skills for the Compliance role. Both candidates are to be interviewed in person.

Resume Review
The positions that are open are the HR Generalist and the HR Compliance based
specialist. The HR Generalist is responsible for all HR activities such as employee orientation
and associate relations. The HR Compliance specialist position supports the technical aspects of
HR such as background checks and drug testing. Furthermore, the HR Generalist position is also
a customer centered position.
The two applicants for each job are Jane Doe, and Cecil Dare. Jane has eight years of
experience with customer oriented positions, has an associate’s degree in accounting 101, and
has worked as an HR coordinator.
Cecil had a clear and defined job objective that stated that her years of education and
experience will help better the company. Both applicants show that they are confident with
themselves and their skills and abilities they possess. Cecil has extensive professional
experiences in managerial roles and has held two positions as a compliance specialist. The
positon for the HR Compliance Specialist calls for the employee to be highly qualified in
knowing how to use computers and since the job description entails conducting background
checks, troubleshoot program issues and other various computer related tasks. On Cecil’s
resume, she has extensive computer knowledge such as “huge knowledge of Microsoft Office, an
outstanding ability to organize electronic and paper filing systems.” This qualifies Cecil for the
HR Compliance specialist, because of the large amount of computer skills required for this
position.
2. Cecil meets the basic qualification of having six plus years in compliance-related
experience and has Microsoft Office experience. However, she does not hold a college degree or
equivalent. Cecil shows that she is able to establish relationships with clients, carriers and her
own co-workers and that is exactly what we are looking for in a candidate. Although Cecil does
not have a post high school degree, she has an extensive background in her professional work
experience that shows she is well informed and competent in compliance related work. I believe
that coming face to face with a potential employee is critical in finding quality employees. Based
on reviewing her resume, I would interview Cecil in-person for the HR Compliance Specialist
position, because her resume shows that she has the adequate technical skills to fulfill the
position. However, Jane is not a good candidate for these positions even though she has a degree,
but she lacks the technical skills and past experience for this position. I considered Jane for this
position as well, but based on her qualifications I decided not to hire her for this position.
Jane Doe will be a good candidate for the HR Generalist position, because she shows that
she has a good amount of experience that the position requires and she has some technical skills
accompanied with a degree. She has experience working at a hospital where she monitored
employee’s compliance files by using computers. However, Cecil is not a good candidate for the
HR Generalist position because she lacks the experience with working with customers face to
face and worked mostly with computers such as organizing electronic filing systems.I would
want to conduct an in-person interview, because I feel for these positions that a phone interview
will not be adequate. The positions require a wide range of specific qualifications so, going over
the position in person will help the interviewer and interviewee further understand each other
rather than just over the phone. Interviewing Jane and Cecil in person will help the hiring
3. manager better get acquainted with both of them and to make sure they are who they say they are
on the resume.
In summary, analyzing the resumes and job descriptions have led me to match each
candidate to the job based on the qualifications of each employee and using their prior work
experiences to lead me to them placed in the proper position.
