Experiment Culture - UAE Government Innovation WebinarSam Rye
I had the privilege of speaking to the team at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation in UAE about Experiment Culture for rigorous innovation practice. Here's the slides from that webinar.
The document discusses the entrepreneurial process and challenges journalists to come up with a new journalism business concept. It outlines the typical steps an entrepreneur takes, from ideating to pitching an idea. It then provides a scenario where students are given $5 million to start an innovative, millennial-focused journalism business that solves a problem and is profitable within 5 years. Questions are provided to help students consider what problem their business would solve, its unique value proposition, and how it would generate revenue. [/SUMMARY]
So much has changed lately in the worlds of product design and innovation that many leaders aren’t fully aware of the new possibilities.
In this session at the Innov8rs Connect Unconference, we reviewed recent advances in teams, tools and techniques, and how they’re coming together to create a new world of possibilities for organizations. We conclude with a real-world case study of modern innovation in action shared by Anuraag Verma of Alpha.
The kick inside: The entrepreneurial mindsetMartin Kupp
The key elements that keep established companies from being more entrepreneurial are division of labor, missing metrics and a dominant culture focused on execution. These slides try to transport some of my learning from working with many large incumbents, mainly from B2B industries.
Innovation in Action: Practical Makes Perfectlibrarylearner
The document provides guidance on innovation for libraries, outlining common myths about innovation being too expensive or only focused on technology. It suggests libraries focus on their core mission of information experiences rather than defining innovation as their core business. Principles for innovation are presented from an unnamed company focusing on people, simplicity, engagement, and trust. Libraries are encouraged to constantly improve services, know their users, leverage staff assets, and communicate to be innovative. Five tips for innovation include making a commitment, letting all staff contribute, taking action, being willing to abandon ideas, and having fun.

Innovation is much more than a buzzword for the charity sector, it is the key to solving the most complex social and environmental challenges that face our next generation.
This webinar will provide some practical, tangible tools that you can use to accelerate your organisation’s innovation capability.
The Lean Startup methodology teaches companies to test business ideas continuously using a build-measure-learn feedback loop. It emphasizes developing a minimum viable product (MVP) to begin learning quickly and eliminating uncertainty. The methodology views each startup as an experiment to answer whether the product should be built and if a sustainable business can be created around it. It aims to drive startup success through a process that can be learned and taught.
Webinar: The Innovator's Hypothesis by Michael Schragebusinessforward

Instead of letting ideas drive innovation, Schrage suggests that companies should embrace creativity within constraints – clear deadlines with clear deliverables.
This document discusses building and funding a startup. It begins with background on the author and an agenda. The agenda discusses what startup life is really like, getting started, raising capital, and final thoughts. It notes startups are a grind and raising money is a full-time job for CEOs. When raising money, it recommends getting as long a runway as possible, taking coffee meetings, proving you can ship product, and not hiring people just like yourself. It emphasizes the importance of meeting investors early and getting an anchor investor. The document ends by noting most people who want to start a company never start, there is value in taking the first leap, trusting your own judgment, and only starting with an idea you are passionate about
Mi Casa es su Casa – Co-Creation as the future of digital product development
by Denis Danielyan, CEO Technology & Development @gravity&storm GmbH
Working closely in collaborative teams offers a new way of solving developmental challenges and services in a sustaining and durable manner. Instead of the classic approach, in which the success of a project depends on single interactions between clients and service providers, the goal of Co- Creation is to team up for a fixed period in order to learn from each other and maximize the outcome. In the long run, this results in self-sufficiency and empowerment for the customer and highly satisfying project results.
The document discusses how cloud computing and future IT trends will impact organizations. It outlines 5 practical approaches for organizations: 1) moving away from traditional IT projects to providing services, 2) avoiding rushing solutions and making things "stupider, faster", 3) providing technology as a service, 4) fostering innovation, and 5) moving towards an IT counselling role to advise organizations. The presentation argues that cloud computing requires rethinking how IT is delivered and its role in organizations.

The document discusses the business canvas model and customer development process. It states that a prototype is not yet a business plan, and that the canvas contains hypotheses that must be tested. The customer development process involves identifying key hypotheses to test, designing experiments to test them, and validating or pivoting the assumptions. It emphasizes the importance of testing the product-market fit and creating a minimum viable product to validate hypotheses in real life testing before developing a full business plan.
The document describes the Siemens Intrapreneurs Bootcamp, which aims to empower employees to connect their passion and genius to drive breakthrough innovation for Siemens in an agile, customer-centric way. How to make your corporate management think and act like a startup. (by @boar...Board of Innovation
The document provides guidance for corporate management teams to think and act more like startups. It recommends building a minimum viable product quickly without extensive upfront planning, then measuring how customers interact with it to test assumptions. The key is to learn from failures by optimizing the product based on metrics and customer feedback, rather than getting bogged down in reporting and meetings. An iterative process of building, measuring, and learning is advocated over traditional business planning.
Lars Holdgaard discusses how to decide what features to build and in what order for a product. He recommends gathering both qualitative feedback from talking directly to customers as well as quantitative data on product usage. This information, along with the overall product vision, can be used to set OKRs and quarterly themes to focus feature development. Themes should solve major blockers or pains identified from customer conversations in order to iteratively improve the product-market fit over time. A quarterly cycle allows being agile while making a meaningful impact.
This document discusses building a Minimum Desirable Product (MDP) rather than a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). It recommends focusing on understanding user goals and creating a product that maximizes engagement and sustainable growth through a few key scenarios. An MDP can be built quickly in 4-6 weeks to test if people will use it daily and recommend it to others. The document cautions that desirability alone may not lead to viability, so MDP ideas still need to consider business feasibility. The goal of an MDP approach is to deliver compelling consumer value through the optimal minimal set of features.

2010 05 03 Lean Startup Intensive At Web 2 0 Expo Welcome By Eric RiesEric Ries
This document provides an introduction to the Lean Startup Intensive workshop. It discusses key concepts of the Lean Startup methodology including minimizing time in the build-measure-learn feedback loop through frequent experimentation and pivoting if needed. The goal of a startup is validated learning about customers rather than delivering products, as the problem and solution are initially unknown. Myths about Lean Startups are also debunked, clarifying that it is about speed not costs, applies to all industries, and drives vision through rigorous customer testing rather than replacing it.
MeasureWorks - 5 startups lessons to build better products fasterMeasureWorks
This document provides a summary of lessons for growing better products faster. It discusses (1) running experiments everywhere and iterating rapidly to find product-market fit, (2) using a positioning statement to frame the product and target market, and (3) building a frictionless product through a focus on user experience and page load times. It also covers (4) using analytics to identify the most important metrics and run experiments to optimize the product, and (5) how sales and funding are connected through building a revenue model. The overall message is that companies need to embrace experimentation, iteration, and a data-driven approach to innovation in order to adapt and survive in a changing market.
The document provides 14 techniques for generating business ideas, including analyzing problems in one's current or previous job, drawing inspiration from successful ideas but improving them significantly, analyzing annual reports of public companies to find problems and opportunities, and applying new business models to existing ideas. It emphasizes that ideas are useless unless acted upon, and that execution is more important than coming up with a truly unique idea. The key is focusing on validating and scaling ideas, not just generating them.
The "Genesis: Idea Stage" ebook explains the phase where the journey starts for every startup: the idea stage. This eBook is the first part of the "Startup Master Class" series covering the idea, problem/solution fit, product/market fit and scaling stages.
