This course aims to provide students experience implementing a complete software project from definition through prototype development within 12 weeks. The objectives are to gain experience with project definition, teamwork, identifying technical risks, estimating budgets, and proving a concept can work. Completing the project is intended to better prepare students for careers in industry where employers expect skills like leading innovation, problem solving, dealing with complex technologies and relationships, and speaking confidently about costs and decisions. Employers praise graduates of the UGent software engineering program as requiring little additional training before interacting with customers.

will be managed following the adaptive methodology of Agile Scrum. In a project managed using
traditional project management methodologies, the Charter would be a document of just a few pages (around
4) formally outlining the key objectives, schedule and stakeholders. In an Agile project, this artefact would
be displayed in the project team room.
Background
After top management determines which projects to pursue, then it becomes important to notify the organisation
about the projects. The Project Charter is used to authorise the project and nominate the project manager. The

(Camshift) algorithm, the speed reaches 32 fps for real-time multi-view face detection. Plus, the
frontal view detection accuracy obtains 81% in Phase I and reaches 95% for multi-view
detection, in Phase III. Furthermore, an innovative application called face-detection game
controller (FDGC) is developed. At the time of this writing, the technology has been
implemented in wearable devices and mobile with Intel cores.
