1. Introduction For Romeo And Juliet Essay
Crafting an introduction for an essay on Romeo and Juliet can be both exhilarating and
challenging. On one hand, the timeless tale of love and tragedy offers a rich tapestry of themes
and emotions to explore. On the other hand, the sheer abundance of scholarly analyses,
adaptations, and interpretations makes the task daunting. The challenge lies not only in
presenting a fresh perspective but also in capturing the essence of the play's complexity within
the confines of an introduction.
The introductory paragraph must hook the reader, offering a glimpse into the profound emotions
and intricate relationships that define Romeo and Juliet. Balancing the need for conciseness with
the desire to convey the depth of the narrative is a delicate dance. Capturing the essence of
Shakespeare's language while ensuring accessibility to a modern audience adds another layer of
difficulty. It requires a deep understanding of the play's nuances and the ability to distill its
essence into a few compelling sentences.
Moreover, the introduction should set the stage for the essay's thesis, hinting at the themes and
arguments that will be explored without revealing too much. Striking this delicate balance
requires careful consideration and an insightful grasp of the play's central motifs.
In conclusion, writing an introduction for a Romeo and Juliet essay demands not only literary
finesse but also a profound understanding of the play's themes and characters. It is a task that
requires a careful interplay of creativity, analysis, and conciseness to enthrall the reader from the
very beginning. For those seeking assistance in navigating this literary challenge or exploring

2. The Role Of The Prohibition Movement In The United
States
One of the most important factors that contributed to the beginning of the
prohibition era and made all this possible was the Anti Saloon League. It was
founded in 1893 by Howard Hyde Russel. It wasn t until 1895 it was on a national
level. The Anti Saloon League was one of the first modern political movements in the
United States. Like the Woman s Christian Temperance Union, like most suffragists,
they truly believed that alcohol was a drug that was being pushed on consumers
(Catherine Murdock, historian). Basically, what s being said is they have this strong
idea of alcohol needing to be banned for good. Additionally, there were an older
movement that formed called the Temperance Movement. This was one of the first
groups formed trying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since some just couldn t resist not drinking alcohol because it became a part of
their life they went a different path to get it. One way was through speakeasies.
These were illegal establishments that would sell alcohol. When talking about
drinks they had to use codes, such as rot gut, white mule, panther sweat, coffin
varnish, etc. For the most part they were caught on a regularly basis, due to the vast
amount of them. One statistic showed Detroit having more than 15,000 of them,
which were over 10,000 bars they had before that sold liquor. The name for the
establishment came from the volume that was required when inside to avoid getting
busted. For one to get inside a speakeasy they had to have certain identification,
which consisted of a certain phrase that had to be said at the door. One of the biggest
raids conducted as the film states was on July 21st, 1928. More than 150 prohibition
agents conducted night raids finding more than eleven speakeasies. These
establishments served to be one of the smartest and rebellious things done during
3. Social Media And Political Engagement
The literature addressing the connection between political engagement and social
media has offered diverse findings. Some scholars, such as Venezuela, Bode, Park
and Kee, and Zhang, Seltzer, and Bichard discovered positive relationships between
social media and political engagement. Following this, scholars Valenzuela and Vitak
et al, Zuniga and Jung comprehended affirmative relationships as well, but with some
limitations to specific kinds of social media. These studies confirmed a constructive
relationship between social media and political engagement, but with restraints and
limitations regarding citizens who would probably be engaged even without
employing new media. For instance, Zuniga et al pointed out that social media may
contribute to the production of networked society, but the study also has shown that
the effect of social networking sites for political efficacy did not have a meaningful
relationship. Vitak et al stressed that social media, Facebook in particular, may
encourage a rise of political participation, for instance, through online petition, but
this type of participation has little to no real world impact. However, some studies
have not found a strong correlation between social media and political participation.
Baumgartner and Morris, for example found low effects of social media on political
engagement and political outcomes. The study has shown that in spite of the promise
social networking sites hold for increasing political interest and
4. Un American Policy Summary
Immigration has always had an impact von my life. My parents immigrated here
from Haiti in 90s, fleeing the country due to violence during the uprising to
overthrow former President Jean Bertrand Aristide. Although, now my parents are
legal in the country at a certain time they weren t and they worked very hard to
provide the best they could for my siblings and me. The refugees that are referred to
in the article are fleeing the violent extremism in the Middle Eastern countries and
some other countries. In David Miliband article, Donald Trump s Un American
Policy, Miliband expresses how Un American President Trump s new policy to ban
immigration from Syria indefinitely, this policy is a repudiation off the fundamentals
of American values. Miliband discusses the United Statesrole in the world as a
solitude and refuge for immigrants in political uproar. Miliband s argument is based
on the ethical manners of the policy, creating an ethos effect. Miliband discusses why
the policy is not a rational decision. In his editorial, Miliband criticizes Pres. Trump s
decision to ban immigrants from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and some other Middle
Eastern countries. Miliband does not find immigrants from these foreign countries as
an endangerment to the American society but simply seeking safety in security in

5. Mrs. Mallard Deceiving
The first few lines of Kate Chopin s, The Story of An Hour are deceiving because
of the natural assumptions the reader makes based on societal ideals. As the story
goes on, it becomes more apparent that Mrs. Mallard is not so heart broken about
the death of her husband. Why would a woman in 1894 be happy about news of her
husbandpassing away? He was her source of income and the community would pity
her for losing her husband. However, Mrs. Mallard saw her husband s deathas a away
out from a marriageshe didn t really like, so she took the opportunity. Mrs. Mallard
tried to act normal when she first heard the news of her husbands death. She
eventually went into her room alone where she realized that she was free of the
burden she felt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mallard says how seeing her husbands dead body will be upsetting, but describes
him as the face that had never looked save with love upon her (429). Her saying
this depicts how she truly feels about her marriage and thinks that her husband
didn t really love her. She begins to realize the freedom she will be able to
experience now that he is gone. Mrs. Mallard says But she saw beyond that bitter
moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely.
(429). She is dreaming of the independence she can now experience and does not
want to look back. This challenges society because most women would feel
threatened, alone, and vulnerable at the thought of having no income or man, but
she views it as the beginning of her life. She would live for herself. (Chopin 429).
This goes against everything her society believes. Mrs. Mallard craves the
independence she has never been able to experience because of society s limited
scope on life and marriage. Mrs. Mallard is ahead of her time which is what has made
her life so hard up until this point where she finally feels relief. She keeps saying
Free! Body and soul free! (429) which makes her seem almost delusional as if she had
been dreaming of this for some time. She dreams of Spring days, and summer days,
and all sorts of days that would be her own.
6. The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
The Man, The Boy, and the remains of a dead world are the only constants the
reader will know as they make their journey down The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
The novel tells a story of the nameless protagonists as they traverse through a post
apocalyptic land in an attempt to reach the warm coast before winter. McCarthy s
story also covers many dark and heavy topics primarily death. He has said himself
that death especially is a major issue in the world, and that writers who do not
address it are not serious. As a manof his word, McCarthy has written The Road with
imagery and metaphor alluding to how death stays as a heavy presence even after it
has done its work. The book s dystopia is a result of all of the worst faults of
humanity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McCarthy also tends to avoid any assignment of speech; one does not know who is
speaking because McCarthy has explicitly written that The Boy or The Man has said
it, if the reader cannot understand who is saying what then the writer has not done
their job. He sees no need for complex and elaborate constructions of literature when
words on their own can be simple yet profound in delivery in messages. I specifically
chose to read this book because McCarthy is the opposite of myself. I thoroughly
respect this ability in him. While I might find other authors like Poe who do the
(stark) opposite to be more entertaining, I cannot deny that there is something so
remarkable about an author who can manage something so beautiful and direct naked
writing. It demonstrates the depth of thought and careful consideration that went into
each word.
McCarthy s approach to storytelling, simple yet definitive, conveys far more than
what is printed on paper. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the use of metaphor within
descriptions of setting does the same. Many times throughout the story are trees
mentioned. At first, the frequency may seem peculiar it is always yellowing dead
trees that are mentioned, and this initially serves to reveal to the reader that an
unknown apocalypse has basically killed the earth and most of its flora. However,
the constant presence of the dead trees is also a reminder that even though death has
come and gone the skeletons it leaves behind will

management because under literature, Scott 2000, state that there are two type of
efficient earning management and opportunistic earning management. While for this

improve earnings informativeness in communicating private information. Jim is

Jim will appear to making less money than it actually did and therefore have to

by using the contracting perspective where manager will choose accounting
techniques that will maximizes his or her utility at the expenses and also maximize
bonuses. Furthermore, by creating LIFO inventory layer adjustment it will give lower
reported earnings. If the company can avoid the inventory increase for the year and
instead having a reduction, they can take a credit adjustment to cost of sale and
increase their profit. Under literature Scott (2000), this proposal fall under
opportunistic earning management where the management report earnings
opportunistically to maximize own profit. Related study are Burgstahler and Dichev

losses or earning decline. Research show that there is negative relationship between
unexpected discretionary accruals and stock returns around the earnings
announcement date. This result indicates that the market views discretionary accruals

Vaudeville, the forgotten type of theatre. During the mid 1800 s, people from across
the world were starting to settle in the United States. The newly found spike of the
diversity of cultures and population, vaudeville quickly became the central point for
the American cultural life. The word vaudeville (va au de vill) originated from the
Parisian boulevard, though was adopted in the United States. Vaudevillewas a
theatrical genre of variety entertainment going through the mid 1800 s and ending in
the early 1930 s. Most performances were obscenely comical, though all included a

16. Essay On Prehistory And History
Prehistory literally means before history . It is derived from the Latin word which
means before (Prehistory Wikipedia, 2011). This was the era when there were no
written records yet about the existence of the first wave of ancient humans. This was
also the time when the periods were divided into subgroup system which consists of
the Stone Age, Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
Prehistory gave rise to the emergence of civilizations. This was also the time when the
evolution of the early human beings was influenced by some inventions such as the
writing system. So basically, prehistory is the time when the first set of human beings
came into existence along with their discoveries and inventions.
History (from Greek бј±ПѓП„ОїПЃОЇО±, historia, meaning inquiry, knowledge
acquired by investigation )[2] is the study of the past, particularly how it relates to
humans and it can also refer to the academic discipline which uses narrative to
examine and analyze a sequence of past events (History, Wikipedia, 2014). The term
history was coined after Aristotle used it in one his studies called the Inquiries about

17. The Sorrow Of War And Full Metal Jacket Essay
The Sorrow of War and Full Metal Jacket both have one main element in common the
Vietnam War. Other than the similar time period, these two representations of the
Vietnam War differ drastically. The Sorrow of War, a novel written by Bao Ninh,
follows a North Vietnamese solider named Kien during his years fighting for the
communist regime and documenting his hardships before, during, and after the war.
Full Metal Jacket is a movie that depicts the American side of the war in Vietnam,
focusing on one group of Marine recruits and their journey to the frontlines. Both
representations contain similar themes of mental illness, personal sufferings, and
unfathomable wartime situations. Nevertheless, I believe that The Sorrow of War
captures human emotion and turmoil more precisely than Full Metal Jacket does
through the author s word choice and exemplary descriptions of his sorrows
experienced due to the war. The Sorrow of War shows the Vietnam War from a
communist s point of view; a perspective that is often overlooked and misunderstood
by Americans. This literary work exemplifies the idea that all humans encompass
feelings and emotions regardless of their political affiliation, citizenship, and/or
ethnicity. Furthermore, Americans are seen as the bad guys to the North Vietnamese,
invading their country, killing their people, and raping their women. Another
realistic aspect of The Sorrow of War is how Kien suffers from survivor s guilt he is

18. How Do Animals Respond To Their Environment
Plants and Animals: How they respond to their Environment
The two supergroups of plants and animals have many similarities and differences in
terms of how each responds to their environment. While animals move about and
roam the earth, plants have always been stationary and have learned to live off the
surrounding environment. From this being the case that plants are stationary and
animals are mobile, they have evolutionary adapted different ways to respond to
stimuli and changes in their environment.
The traits of being mobile or stationary has effected how these two supergroups

Plants can respond using any number of tropisms, which result in a plant organ
moving toward or away from a stimulus. Almost all of these responses are under
hormonal control. Thigomotropism, a response to touch, is a reaction plants make
when pressure is put onto any part of the plant. An example of this could be as
simple as an insect landing on the leaf of the plant, and the reaction to the stimulus
would be the folding of the leaves. Other tropisms such as gravitropism and
phototropism are responses to light and the forces of gravity. An example of how
plants may respond to light or any other tropism can be explained through a signal
transduction pathway. The plant detects light using a phytochrome, which can detect
two types of red light. This part of the process is reception. In transduction Ca2+
channels are opened on the cell wall allowing for the movement of molecules into the
cell activating a protein kinase, during this time a second messenger activates a
second protein kinase. The protein kinases bind to transcription factors, which are
then translated by the nucleus to respond to the light stimulus and activate a de
etiolation response which in turn greens the plant, along with the greening responses
plants will start to grow leaves for photosynthesis. This is just one response a plant
may make to react to its
19. Why Was Italy Not Unified After the Congress of Vienna...
Before the Congress of Vienna the French occupation had far reaching affects on
Italy. The power of the Church and the Pope was reduced, changes were made in
landownership and land was redistributed. A new middle class began to appear.
Agriculture was improved and the peasants were freed from their old feudal ties and
obligations. Then when Napoleon was defeated and the restoration of the old regime
and monarchs was started, Italyagain became a country divided into eleven
independent states, excluding the tiny principalities and the Republic of San Marino.
So Italy was not unified after the Congress of Vienna due to a number of reasons,
such as the foreign influence of the Central European Powers, parochialism within the
states, the lack... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lay people had no part in government, apart from a few lay members of
advisory bodies called В‘congregations . Politically, Italy was fragmented. Further,
half the states were governed by kings or dukes who already occupied or hoped soon
to inherit the thrones of the non Italian countries. Venice and Piedmont had
dominions outside Italy. The Papacy had worldwide ecclesiastal concerns. The
peninsula was not merely divided; the boundaries and interests of its states ignored its
natural frontiers. Equally, there still survived three ancient republics of importance:
Venice, ruling a considerable empire on the eastern shores of the Adriatic and a large
territory, known as the Veneto, on the mainland of Italy; Genoa, which until 1768
governed the island of Corsica; and Lucca. After the Papal States there were five
significant duchies. Of these members of the Austrian royal House of Habsburg,
Milan direct from Vienna, and Tuscany, ruled the two most important separately.
The Duchy of Parma and Piacenza was under a Spanish Bourbon, but could not be
united either with Spain or with Naples and Sicily. The Duke of Modena and the
Duchess of Massa and Carrara represented Italian dynasties. So the foreign influence
of the Central European Powers both before and after the congress of Vienna was
major a factor in Italy s remaining as eleven independent states rather than becoming
united.
Foreign influence was not the only reason that Italy was not united by 1815,

Within these categories of jewelry there was a variety of different types. An example
of different types is earrings. During the second Intermediate Period of Ancient Egypt
earrings were simple hoops but by the New Kingdom, earrings were worn in many
different ways such as hoops, dangles, tube and boss earrings and ear studs [2].
Evidence also shows that mummies had stretched earlobes, meaning they would
insert ear plugs in their lobe that were a maximum two inches wide [2]. Another
type of jewelry that existed was worn in the hair or wigs of woman. They were
called rosettes or tubes of gold that were strung in the women s hair. Towards the
New Kingdom tubes made of cornelian began to be worn [5]. The most important
feature of egyptian jewelry is that it was colorful. Egyptians wore white linen
clothing, especially the wealthy, therefore; to accent their white clothing, their
jewels were full of colors such as red (red jasper, cornelian), green (green jasper,
chrysoprase), purple (amethyst) and blue (lapis lazuli, turquoise) stones. They loved
their accessories to look heavy because it showed more wealth. In order to make it
look heavy they added metals around their stones. Gold was the metal of choice

that is why he is such an influence on a lot of people. Courage is all over the place,
but people don t realize it. Courage is shown within ourselves, in arts, and all over
our world today. Courage is something that everyone should have because, without it,
most people would not be in the place they are
22. Baseball Protypes
It s fantasy baseball playoff time, and if you made all the right moves during the
regular season, you re battling for your league title. Now is not the time to be
timid. Holding on tightly to veteran pitchers may seem like a good strategy, but it
can backfire. When you follow rosters, keeping up with the MLB lineups using
information from sites such as FantasyAlarm.com, you know there are young
pitchers making their way to the big show. Some of these pitchers clearly realize this
may be their one and only chance to shine. First, you need to appreciate a couple
reasons why these young pitchers have a chance to do really well. Then you calculate
which ones have the highest chance of catapulting you to your league championship.

В·Carson Fulmer The White Sox have three strong prospects for their future. They
are going to play out the string in 2017 looking at which of these pitchers steps
forward. Fulmer is one of the more intriguing of this trio of pitching prospects.
Much of his minor league difficulties have centered on control issues. Too many
free passes have lead to a balloon in his ERA. At times, he has used his mid 90s
fastball to mow down hitters, while at other times he can t seem to locate with
consistency. Fulmer had tossed 6 innings with only three Ks out of the bullpen
since his call up, but nailed 9 San Francisco hitters in his first start. He has his
future in front of him, and his 3 hit, 1 run performance in his first start turned the
heads of the White Sox brass. Look for Fulmer to pitch his final opportunities with
a sense of purpose. В·Lucas Giolito Giolito s fantasy numbers in his first four starts
have accounted for two masterful performances, sandwiched in the middle of two
defensive collapses by his fielders. He allowed 1 earned run, scattering only a half
dozen hits over 14 innings in two victories. He maintained his 1K/inning rate in
those two wins. In his other two starts, the White Sox defense fell apart. It led to a
momentary loss of concentration against San Francisco, leading to 4 walks. Giolito
still gave up only three hits in 5 plus innings of work, so the potential is obviously
there. Giolito may have the

Based on the Community Needs Assessment, the research displayed evidence that a
large portion of the African American college students in the Hattiesburg area are less
knowledgeable of healthy proportions of foods and resources available to them that

were surveyed indicated that they had an exceptional understanding of basic nutrition
fundamentals. Preference was the driving force of the target population s food
selection. The healthbelief model would be an excellent method of understanding how

The models of cultural identity share most of the same mutual characteristic but the
experiences each individual endure in life will have the individual thinking about
their belief. The cultural identity is the individuality or feeling of belonging. When
thinking about a Native American understanding the racial and ethnic identity of an
individual is important part of that individual. Racial and ethnic identity is a
contribution to complete understanding the Native American. For some mainly
noticeable and officially clear in minority populations in the United States, racial and
ethnic identity are established in very sensible way. The ways in which racial and
ethnic is establish is shown in the social and cultural motivations. At the beginning
each individual adapt their cultural traditions and values through religious and
educational communities inspires a positive sense of ethnic identity and confidence.
Individual s needs to often refine ethnic identity through negative behavior and media
communications acknowledged from others because of their raceand ethnicity. Some
of the communications is made clear that people of minority position have a different
ethnic development and one that is less than appropriate within normal society.
Native Americans, ethnic and racial identity is mostly unconscious especially
through their behaviors, values, beliefs, and assumptions. There are models and
theories of racial and ethnic identity that has developed quickly due

Geographic diversification is a necessity for any financial institution interested in
growing and expanding. As financial institutions grow geographically, numerous
issues may arise. Before any expansion planning can be done, financial institution
managers must make a determination on the type of geographic expansion that best
fits the financial institutionand its goals. Making the correct decision to further expand
operations domestically or internationally is imperative to ensure success of the
expansion. Regardless of the breadth of the expansion efforts, financial institutions
will face increased risks, new regulatory environments, and potentially different
cultural barriers. Outside of these risks, however, is the issue of... Show more content

For financial institution shareholders, diversification should be a consideration for
several reasons (Schmid Walter, 2012). For instance, financial institutions would want
to expand geographically in order to improve its competitive advantage and enhance
its capital allocation position (Schmid Walter, 2012). Additionally, other
considerations include improving efficiencies, taking advantage of inequalities in
exchange rates, and providing unified customer service across various geographies
(Schmid Walter, 2012). Although there are increased costs associated with
expansions (information, contracting, and regulatory), the benefits are seemingly
compensatory and offset these (Schmid Walter, 2012). Multinational banks, or those
with physical operations in multiple countries, can also benefit from an expansion of
their operations geographically (Weller Hersh, 2002).
There are numerous benefits for financial institutions that seek geographic
diversification, domestically or internationally. For one, geographic expansions
provide the opportunity for efficiently operated organizations to extend the
efficiencies across additional locations and more resources (Berger DeYoung, 2001).
The increases in efficiency can result in decreased costs for products offered, greater
revenues due to broader product offerings, or both (Berger DeYoung, 2001). For
example, improving network production through the joining of

Paul Lawrence
Paul Lawrence theory explains about the human nature and it describes about the
four factors that will affect the human nature and these factors are bond
,acquire, learn and defend. These factors also called drives but the question is this
what drives an individual.Every individual has several drives but all drives cannot be
satisfied at a time.
The first drive is acquire, and it describes how a human improve his status by
acquiring experiences and it is very common. It describes how human compete with
others in his life like employees of the same company have competitions with other
employees for different positions and salary.
Next is bonding,as it is very important in making relationships .The bond is
considered to be strong as it will make by mutual understanding and
sharing.Employees working in a group have the advantage of managing the
organization in a better way.
The third factor is drive to learn and it describes that if a human has willingness of
learning the things in the environment then he will come to know that how things are
working .If he has a job then he has the opportunity of developing his knowledge in
his field.
The fourth factor is defend,it describes how humans protect themselves if they feel
any harm on their believes and experiences

Since the average person could not take themselves as an object, they had to rely
on that Other who does have himself as object (the sovereign) to tell them who they
are, and what their relationship is to him, since he is capable of knowing both at
once, and thus of comparing. The Classical age saw an increased interest by the
ruling classes, and the emerging intellectual class,2[2] in the affairs of the
productive classes. The realisation of the significance of microphysical power is
parallelled by the establishment of the subject as the final authority on belief
(Luther), the foundation of knowledge (Descartes), and the establisher of rights
(Locke). These ideas gave power to masses who had hitherto seen themselves as
having none (hardly having seen themselves at all), and fuelled the Age of

to its exaltation. The belief in individual power and rights created a demand not only
for access to the privileges previously enjoyed only by the elite (such as say in the

As the romantics idealised the life of peasants, and socialists proclaimed the rights of
workers, common folk began to see their images in culture. Individual enshrinement

Freedom Writers, directed by Richard LaGravenese, is a true story about the
legendary class 203 of Woodrow Wilson High School. With the help of first time
teacher Erin Gruwell, who is portrayed through actress Hilary Swank, the class of
misfits and outcasts discover life in a new light, and they learn to join together as
one against the world instead of many ( Freedom Writers ). The touching story
sends the message that anything is achievable if one has the right mindset and
determination for it, no matter one s race or situation. Erin Gruwell has earned a job
teaching English for the first time, and her co workers opinions on the students she
will be teaching are extremely low. The school had applied an integration program a
couple years prior, which caused much disdain among the teaching staff. However,
despite remaining her positive outlook, she realizes she has a lot more to handle
among her students because of their constant violent means and hatred for each other.
The majority of the students are affiliated with gangs and have extremely challenging
lives at home. When a controversial death threatens to tear the class apart, a simple
game with a not so simple message from Ms. Gruwell is able to bring them back
together. Discovering that many of the students shared important situations in
common was the key to getting along with one another. The class also bonds over
their research over the Holocaust, in which they care so much about the topic that

31. Analysis of Mending Wall by Robert Frost Essay
Analysis of Mending Wall by Robert Frost
Robert Frost is describing a process in Mending Wall , which is repairing a wall
that separates his territory and his neighbor s. The wall was deteriorated during the
winter, when the cold frost created cracks and gaps in the wall. He uses a nearly
infantile imagination to unravel the mystery of the damage that appeared suddenly in
spring. While they are tediously laboring to reconstruct the fence, Frost is imploring
his neighbor about the use of the wall; his apple trees can be clearly distinguished
from his neighbor s pine trees. Yet underneath this quotidian routine, Frost goes
beyond the surface to reveal its figurative meaning.
The poem renders an apparent question: Why do ... Show more content on

He also uses other devices such as a pun, applied in the line, And to whom I was like
to give offence. The last word of the line simply emphasizes the importance of the
subject, the fence. The most prominent figure of speech, however, is the ironic, Good
fences make good neighbors. This is completely opposite of the connotation of the
poem. Fences do not make neighbors, but strangers that are apathetic towards each
other. The neighbor seems to prefer this approach, to eliminate any risks of
trespassing or offenses. Yet what the fence really does is hinder the development of
friendship. This is comparable to the barriers of bitterness, anger, hate, and fear men
put between one another that obstruct love and friendship.
The poet also used imagery to appeal to the senses. The puzzling force that abhors
the wall sends the frozen ground swell under it, and spills the upper boulders in the
sun.

Political Bosses in America
As industrialization caused cites to grow in leaps and bounds, political bosses
started to take power. As the 19th Century came to a close, almost every sizable
city had a political boss, or at least had one rising to power. Tons of immigrants from
every part of the world began to pour into the major cities. Cities have had diversity
in the past, but the huge diversity of the American cities was unique.
The only thing the new immigrants had in common with each other was the dream of
becoming rich and the poverty of their current state. Unfortunately, so many different
people with so little in common often left tension between different groups on the
edge of becoming violent outbreaks. The famous Tammany... Show more content on

Their corruption often lead to their downfall, such as William Tweed, who died in
1878, penniless and imprisoned. On of the main power gaining tools for the bosses
was the ability to give employment to people. The people would sign onto these
payrolls even when padded, since any employment was better than no employment.
Another platform was the sale and regulation of liquor.
Though becoming somewhat unpopular among some Americans, Europeans were
appealed by the bosses support of liquor. Also appealed were many middle class
members of society who, though not needing financial aid, did enjoy the consumption
of alcoholic beverages. Many businesses also were dependent on the local
government cooperating with their operation and expansion. This expansion also
attracted more people to the city, thus they fed and grew off each other, expansion of
business and population. The boom in population meant that the city had to
accommodate the new people and the services they needed. Yet history repeats itself,
as greed and conventional thinking prevent the institution of social services that
could have met the new needs and the governments began to loose control.
The men who rose to power as the boss of their city were more than often a common
man at birth who immigrated and seized the opportunity presented by

Written by George Orwell, 1984 is a utopian and dystopian fiction novel follows
the rebellious life of the main character, Winston Smith. Winston s strictly confined
and deprived life takes place in London, under the manipulative rule of the nation

form of rebellion in every possible manner, and keeps a close eye on Winston
through telescreens. Winston, angry at the Party for oppressing individuality, rebels
in secret by writing his criminal thoughts in a diary he purchased. This small but
illegal action leads into a string of complications for Winston as he tries to connect
with the Brotherhood, a rebellious group Winston has heard of. The novel s well

This book would appeal to fans of the popular Hunger Games and Divergent series
due to the similar situation and writing genre. In my personal opinion, it is not just
the characters that intrigue the readers, it is the bleak life they live that draws the
reader in. Winston s life is so desolate and deprived which ultimately makes the
reader more interested due to the variation of lifestyle between the audience and
Winston. Orwell definitely makes his intent for writing the novel clear, which is to
spread awareness on social injustice and address the downside of imperialism.

Woods was very embarrassed for himself. It took him a while to finally admit what
he had done all by himself. Proctor was the same way; his anger almost got the best

Both of the men wanted to keep their reputations intact, but with everyone knowing
what was going on, it was hard. However, today, Tiger Woods has made a huge
comeback in the world of golf. He recently had an interview with Charlie Rose,
which asked him, What is your one life regret. Surprisingly, Woods said his one

both a lot to admit to what they had done. They both regret what they did, but
accepted the fact that it already happened. Nowadays, cheating is very common,
however is still a very bad thing. There weren t really any physical punishments like
there were back then. All in all, Tiger Woods and John Proctor have similar

38. The Importance Of Animal Communication
This paper will be answering and analyzing three questions; such as explaining the
areas of the brain that are involved in comprehending and producing language, how
animal s communication differs from that of humans, and lastly how thinking
influences language. From the minute we are born we are expected to have the
ability to begin to comprehend and later have the motor skill to speak. One animal
that we all know we have a lot in common with is a chimpanzee, they are the animal
whom we have the most resembles to in all aspects including the brain and body
structure.
You should never take communicationfor granted. Do you ever wonder what areas
of the brain are involved in comprehending and producing language? Everyone s
brain is divided into two hemispheres. There is a left and right hemisphere, and each
side controls your body in a different way. For example the right hemisphere controls
the left side of your body, imagination, insight, creativity, left hand control, and
holistic thoughts. The left hemisphere controls the right side of your body, logic,
language, math, science, right hand control, and analytic thoughts. It is also then
divided into four lobes which are called the Cerebral Cortex. The four main lobes are
the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, and temporal lobe. The frontal lobe is
the main part of the brain and it is located in the forebrain. Some functions of the
Frontal lobe include memory, hearing, emotions, visual, and language

40. To A Mouse And Louse Summary
Silly Little Critter
(Three Messages From Mouse and Louse) When Robert Burns wrote To a Mouse
as well as To a Louse, he had to have been thinking about it pretty hard, because the
messages of each text connect to one another in many ways. In both of these texts,
he used little critters that might gross some people out. He didn t really use a
creature that very many people found cute in any way. It was a very creative way
to go about, because he decided he would use a animal/insect that people don t
really pay too much attention to. There was a very genius reason to why he
decided to use pests as the main topic of his texts, and that s because it made all of
the messages more clear to the reader. Robert Burns was a really known author, and
many people thought very highly of him. According to Brooke A. Stopford, His

This is a very true message in many ways. The main reason why this is most likely
the best message in the texts, is because Burns talked about how they don t have to
live their life struggling because of worrying. Something that humans do a lot of the
time is stress over things that might be big, but might also not be as important as we
act like it is. In the text To a Mouse, Burns said, Still thou art blest, compared wi me!
The present only toucheth thee. What was being said in this sentence is that even
though the mouse s house got completely destroyed, instead of sitting there and
worrying about it, he just started building a new one. He doesn t know about the
past, nor the future. All that animals, as well as insects know about is the present,
which gives them a huge advantage over us. Same thing goes for the louse in To a

because unlike humans, they don t know about death until it

their jurisdiction have female gang members. Close to half of the gangs outside of
large cities are reported to have female compared to the twenty five percent in larger

42. Storming Team Development
Leadership and followership are worthless when a strong foundation for a team is
absent. Few teams quickly begin operating and succeeding without taking time to
progress through the stages of team development, which reinforces the necessity of
educating students on these four stages: Forming, storming, norming and performing
(Day). The forming stage is simple, as it is a group of individuals joining together to
form a team. Most people can accomplish this task without any knowledge or
training, but those who partake in a team building course gain knowledge to form a
stronger team from its inception. Such knowledge allows team members to break

While they recently emerged from the storming stage with higher levels of motivation
and increased knowledge, one variable can send them tumbling back into the
storming stage (Norming). Such variables include new challenges obstructing a team
s physical progress to their goal, as well as interpersonal issues that linger after the
team s exit from the storming state; the former issue is easily resolved once the latter
is effectively dealt with. If individuals are unaware of the correct methods of
improving their interpersonal issues, which include, Issues of strengthening
relationships, open communication, and positive/constructive feedback the team will
ultimately bear the burdens of team members ineffectively settling persistent issues
(Norming). While a team building course attempts to disrupt a team during this stage,
it also nurtures an environment for teams to work through any remaining differences
and begin to form a tighter bond within its ranks. Individuals gain greater proficiency
with their interpersonal relations, enabling themselves to collaborate with and place
greater trust in their teammates. Through partaking in a team building course,

43. Latin American Foreign Policy
At the end of the century, the total of the U.S. military and police assistance in the
Hemisphere exceeded the economic and social aid it also provided. This was a
new trend as even during the Cold War the economic aid exceeded the military one.
From 2002 to 2003, the number of Latin American troops trained by U.S.
programmes, mostly stationed in the drug war states , doubled (Chomsky, 2010;
LeoGrande, 2007:357). At the beginning of his mandate, President GW Bush
promised Latin America would be a priority for U.S. foreign policy. The challenge
for the new administration was to set a new relationship that would take into account
the region s economic and social worries and its call for change (LeoGrande, 2007).
However, after 9/11, Washington... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

44. Tracer Bullet History
This paper is to help individuals understand multiple subjects on Tracer Bullet.
What are Tracer Bullets? Who made them? Why were they made? They are bullets
that light up? What Are Tracer Bullet A tracer bullet is a are rounds which emit
small amounts of flammable material that left a phosphorescent trail. The first
attempt to use these in 1915 was unsuccessful seeing as the bullet was only limited
to about 100 meters. In 1916 the bullet had been upgraded and was a success as it
emitted a green/white light for about 600 meters if not longer. Tracer bullets were
used in aerial attacks mainly. Some but very few snipers would use them. Who
Invented Them The British created tracer bullets. The British thought that this would

This is a good thing but also a very very bad thing it makes guns more dangerous
and snipers have become more accurate as time has gone on because of these
bullets and modern upgrades. Gun makers haven t slowed down they have
continued to make more accurate guns and bullets. How It Was Made The Tracer
bullet is made when the bullet is fired the gunpowder ignites the back of the bullet
which has a compound of either magnesium or phosphorus. This cause it to leave a
trail of a certain light trail that burns brilliantly through the night. (Igniting A
Tracer Bullet) FUN FACT: Depending on the compound in the back of the bullet
will decide what color the trail burns. (The trail can be orange, green, blue, white,
red, or pink .) Why Was It Made It was created to be used in aircrafts so that the
gunmen could see if they were hitting their target. At first, the bullet could only go
100 yards or so but with recent updates, the bullet can go 600 yards or more
depending on the gun. In aircrafts, it is difficult to see whether or not they are close
to their targets due to the fact that they are in air moving. So with the tracer, it will
increase

Euthanasia and the American s Right To Die
...no one is truly free to live, until one is free to die. Martin Luther King
The issue of euthanasia has been hotly debated in America over the past several
years. Like drug decriminalization and abortion, such personal liberty issues can be
seen from a multitude of viewpoints, and public opinion varies widely. Recent events
concerning euthanasia have brought this issue to a higher level of visibility and
raised the public s awareness of the American political landscape. Most notably
among these events: the first degree murder arrest of Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the
infamous advocate and practitioner of physician assisted suicide, and the 1997
passage of the Death With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passive Euthanasia is the discontinuation of life sustaining medical procedures by the
attending physician, thereby allowing the patient to die without intervention from the
lack of medical treatment. This is commonly known as Pulling the Plug . Physician
Assisted Suicide is the act of the physician providing the patient with the means and
knowledge to perform life ending acts, but allowing the patient to carry out the
lethal act alone, at his or her own discretion. If a doctor provides a terminally ill
patient with a large quantity of morphine, but leaves the patient with the option of if
and when to take a lethal dosage, this is considered physician assisted suicide.
There are many arguments both for and against euthanasia. Many faith groups within
Christian, Muslim, Jewish and other religions believe that God gives life and
therefore only God should take it away. Suicide would then be considered an
interference of God s plan for that individual. Therefore, such groups argue that the
patient should continue living and suffering until God decides otherwise. Some
religious extremist groups take this idea to the extent that they will not seek medical
treatment for any condition at all.
On the other hand there is a significant percentage of Agnostics, Atheists, Humanists,
secularists, non Christians and liberal Christians in North America who do not accept
these theologically based arguments. These groups believe that each person has
46. John Butler Becoming America Summary
In his book, Becoming America: The Revolution Before 1776, Jon Butler is arguing
that prerevolutionary America was much more modern than it is often thought to
have been. He argues throughout the book that the people, economy, politics, material
wants and needs, and spiritual beliefs within the colonies were all very similar to
those in modern America. Butler discusses the diversity of people seen within the
colonies that was not only unprecedented at the time, but is still not seen in some
countries today. He states that by 1703 there was no ethnic or national majority
within the colonies and that in certain areas, a majority could only be found by
grouping together all white settlers. Butler also points out that by 1760, American
Indian populations had decreased dramatically and were occupying very small
geographic areas surrounded by European settlers. This caused many Native
American populations to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes the colonial economy as more rapidly growing and complex than any
other economy in this time period. He states that the economy was incredibly
competitive, but that the gap between the rich and the poor accelerated more rapidly
in prerevolutionary America than any other time in American history. Butler also
stresses that the economy of the colonies at this time relied greatly on farming, but
states that after 1680 Americans began farming in a more modern and commercial
way. This meant that farms were not only producing enough to maintain their
household, but were also producing excess crops and livestock that they were able
to sell for profit. Butler argues that the southern colonies led the way in the
advancement of the colonial economy in unexpected ways. Farmers in the southern
colonies were able to manipulate the economy by diversifying the amount of crops
they grew in order to safeguard against price drops in certain crops due to excess

I happen to be sympathetic to that argument, but it s not the one I want to make
here. I think there is another way to assess the social virtue of pop culture, one that
looks at media as a kind of cognitive workout, not as a series of life lessons. There
may indeed be more negative messages in the mediasphere today. But that s not the
only way to evaluate whether our television shows or video games are having a

it is and the fact that this profession deals with babies and mothers and pregnancies,
which are all very interesting to me.
In the past, Obstetrics was carried out by the midwives. There was not much
knowledge of the advanced way we deal with complications in pregnancies back
then, therefore midwives were the pregnancy experts. In the 1300 s, the first C
section was performed on a deceased woman, to save the baby, and before the 1500
s, C sections were only performed if the mother was beyond help and almost always
resulted in the death of the mother. But as C sections became more widely
recognized in the early 1800 s, Obstetrics became the first physician specialty
recognized in the U.S. In these years, the UK and Ireland had an 80% mortality
rate for C sections. Today, 32% of deliveries are by Cesarean Section, and maternal
mortality rates are at 0 in a large series of cesareans in some settings, according to
nih.gov. This is good, and by the looks of it these numbers will be increasingly
common as medical strategies are improved. Additionally, the Pap smear was not
discovered until 1923 by a man named Georgios Nicholas Papanikolaou, M.D., Ph.D.

Thank you for that kind introduction Judy, I am delighted to be a guest of your show
this week! As you heard from Judy, I will be looking at a poetry movement from the
16th Century, however my particular area of focus today is on the renowned
Metaphysical poet, John Donne, and his poem titled Woman s Constancy. Those of
you who are aware of Donne and his works will know of the challenging
perspectives his poems held towards the common ideologies of marriage, life and
death, religion and love, proposed by the Church of England.
Stylistically, Donne s poems often present disputes between two lovers, his satirical
and sometimes even sceptical interpretation of love and relationships, and also his
ties to his faith and religion (Locklear, 2014). Donne s visionary works led him to
become a sole initiator of the metaphysical style of poetry. The ideologies of the time
in which he was writing impacted his perspectives greatly, but also provided a
stimulating and solid viewpoint from his
50. The Rudd Government
Recent Commonwealth Parliaments have confirmed that the ability of governments
to implement their mandates is more a function of the will of the Parliament than the
will of the people.
In recent years, the ability for governments to implement their mandates has shifted
from being a function of the people s will to that of parliament s. A mandate is the
authority provided by voters to a successful political party to pursue its policies in
parliament. Governments can justify their dominance of the lower house by arguing
the will of the people is expressed through elections. The government s electoral
victory produces a majoritarian mandate, and gives them the right to implement their
policies. In recent years, minor parties who hold the ... Show more content on

Firstly, a government s claim to a majoritarian mandate can reduce Australian
politics to an electoral democracy. The opposition might be able to criticise
government policy but according to this theory they have no right to amend, block
or delay government legislation. This reduces the role of members of parliament,
pressure groups and the media to simply channel public opinion. Broader
participation in the political process is limited by the government s claim to an all
powerful mandate. Furthermore, in recent parliaments, the will of the government
has been frustrated by the parliament. However, it is because of this fact it can be
argued parliament produces better legislation due to poor legislation being blocked.
Australia s two party dominance, reflecting the majority of people s will in the lower
house has been proven effective and the Senate that is designed to act as the house of
review is an effective check on the people s will. Despite this, the review function of
the senate is becoming increasingly a reflection of the will of the parliament and this
is contributing to parliament becoming dysfunctional. The Turnbull government
hopes to resolve this through a double dissolution later this

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a composer who lived in the 18th century. Many of
his compositions are still known today.
Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria to his parents, Leopold and Anna Maria

A day after Mozart was born, he was baptized at St. Ruperts Cathedral. The Mozart
family was very religious, and they were Roman Catholic.
Mozart was one of seven children, but only him and his sister Anna Maria, commonly

52. Race Social Construction
Race is a social construct that was developed to classify people into vast different
groups through ethnic, anatomical, cultural, genetic, historical, linguistic,
geographical, and social attachment. Initially, race referred to people using a common
language to identify national affiliations, but with time observable physical traits
were used to denote race. The idea of race means that humans are divisible into
biologically distinct and exclusive groups in terms of physical and cultural features.
The ideology of race is also associated with the beliefs of the superiority of white
people. These beliefs were concretized during the Scientific Revolution and American
colonization that established political relations between Europeans and people with
different cultural and political backgrounds. Therefore, race is a social construction,
the idea that people have perceived through their daily interaction. Race does not
have any significance in taxonomy because all humans belong to the same species,
Homo sapiens. Assertions from various scholars... Show more content on

In American society, the term race entails the distinctions that are drawn from the
physical appearance of the people in the community. Racial categories in the United
States were developed as a result of the violent confrontations between the white
settlers and the indigenous Americans and later the Spanish. Racial prejudice is
perceived as unfavourable and discriminatory towards an individual or a group
based on ethnicity and skin color. In the case where racial prejudice is supported by
institutions and laws, this scenario is considered as an act of racism. Racial prejudice
is experienced in the United States by individuals of the European descent against
other groups such as Latinos or African Americans. Racism leads to tension between
people of non European descent such as the Asian Americans and African

between Japanese and Russian forces in the Russo Japanese War. We start with
this one, said Reisporter, because it brings a lot of these ideas and these visual
aesthetics together. Two other techniques were used in creating the print: gofun and
