The document discusses the history and development of computers from the Jacquard loom to Charles Babbage's analytical engine to modern computers. It then describes the basic components, functions, and uses of computers. The Jacquard loom introduced a programmable element through punched cards, influencing Babbage's conceptualization of the first general-purpose computer. The document defines hardware and software, listing common computer parts, and outlines uses of computers across various fields such as science, business, education, and more.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Introducing to computer
1.
2. In 1801, Joseph Marie Jacquard made an improvement to the textile loom by introducing a series of punched paper cards as a
template which allowed his loom to weave intricate patterns automatically. The resulting Jacquard loom was an important step
in the development of computers because the use of punched cards to define woven patterns can be viewed as an early, albeit
limited, formof programmability.
3. It was the fusion of automatic calculation with programmability that
produced the first recognizable computers. In 1837, Charles Babbage was
the first to conceptualize and design a fully programmable mechanical
computer, his analytical engine.[20] Limited finances and Babbage's
inability to resist tinkering with the design meant that the device was
never completed—nevertheless his son, Henry Babbage, completed a
simplified version of the analytical engine's computing unit (the mill) in
1888. He gave a successful demonstration of its use in computing tables in
1906. This machine was given to the Science museum in South
Kensington in 1910.
4. Computer is man made machine. Which needs electricity
to work. It is an electronic device for storing and
processing data, typically in binary form, according to
instructions given to it in a variable program. Mainly a
calculating device.
This is a laptop computer. We can carry it anywhere.
6. WHAT IS HADRWARE
Hardware refers to the parts of a computer that you can see and touch,
including the case and everything inside it. The most important piece of
hardware is a tiny rectangular chip inside your computer called the central
processing unit (CPU), or microprocessor. It's the "brain" of your computer—
the part that translates instructions and performs calculations. Hardware items
such as your monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, and other items are often
called hardware devices, or devices.
22. SOFTWARE
Software refers to the instructions, or programs, that
tell the hardware what to do. A word processing
program that you can use to write letters on your
computer is a type of software.
23. The operating system (OS) is software that manages your
computer and the devices connected to it. Two well-known
operating systems are Windows and Macintosh operating
system. Your computer uses the Windows operating system
24. USES OF A COMPUTER
The uses of computers is universal. Computers are used in applications ranging
from running a farm, diagnosing a disease, and designing to constructing and
launching a space vehicle.
25. Because the development of computers has been largely the work of
scientists, it is natural that a large body of computer applications serves
the scientist. The articles included herein relate to the uses of computers
today in business, science, education, schools, classrooms, hospitals,
medicine, health care, military, agriculture, law enforcement, at home
and in our everyday lives.
