Acceleration Technology: Taking Media File Transfers From Days to MinutesFileCatalyst
Delivering and receiving digital content can be challenging - FTP is slow and unreliable, attachment size limits often prevent sending via email and shipping on physical storage solutions is costly and can take days to deliver. Factor in the growing size of today’s media files and the above mentioned methods of file transfer become an inefficient and disruptive processes to media workflows, especially over large geographical distances.
To ensure the effective and fast transfers of digital content, a strategy must be put in place for the swift reliable and secure delivery of files. Adopting a solution that prevents the file transfer bottlenecks commonly experienced when transferring large format media files is crucially important to media and broadcast organizations looking to make timely transfers when sharing files.
This presentation, originally presented at Broadcast India 2013, provides an understanding of the challenges and solutions associated with the agile and reliable delivery of digital content in today’s media and entertainment landscape, as well as an overview file transfer technologies optimizing user networks for cost-efficient IT processes. Also included in this presentation is a look at the technology behind accelerated file transfer, its benefits over other methods of file transfer, and an in depth look at why accelerated and managed file transfer should be considered in transferring today’s ever-growing digital media files.

How to Share and Deliver Big Data Fast – Considerations When Implementing Big...FileCatalyst
Big data is growing - in every sense of the word. And an increasing number of companies across a variety of industries are beginning to realize the benefits of leveraging big data and adopting a big data strategy in the workplace. In a recent survey conducted by Gartner it was found that 42% of IT leaders have invested in big data, or plan to do so within 12 months. (Gartner)
When implementing big data within an organization, a strategy must be put in place to fully leverage its benefits. One extremely important big data strategy aspect and often overlooked is how to move this big data from one geographic location to another. File transfer bottlenecks such as failed data transfers and network delays are commonly experienced when transferring massive amounts of data that can easily run into terabytes spread over millions of files.
This IP EXPO 2013 presentation provides an understanding of the challenges and solutions associated with the agile and reliable movement of big data, as well as an overview file transfer technologies optimizing user networks for cost-efficient IT processes. Other takeaways include an understanding of the technology behind accelerated file transfer, its benefits over other methods of file transfer, and an in depth look at why accelerated and managed file transfer should be included in every big data strategy.

Future plans include finalizing performance optimization and integrating additional file systems and object stores.
This document discusses how big data is generated and transferred in the energy sector. It focuses on the exploration, drilling, and production phases where large amounts of data are collected. This data needs to be sent to data centers for analysis and then distributed to stakeholders. Traditionally, this was done using slow file transfer methods like FTP. Now, companies are using specialized software that accelerates file transfers over long distances using UDP to efficiently move big data, even over networks with high latency or packet loss. A case study describes how one company was able to reliably transfer terabytes of offshore exploration data to a London data center and end users.
An overview of why TCP doesn't work in high speed networks, while providing an overview of FileCatalyst Direct and how it goes about providing 10Gbps transfers
How to automate content submission into FileCatalyst WorkflowFileCatalyst
The webinar covered how to automate content submission into FileCatalyst Workflow by using FileCatalyst HotFolder. It discussed the settings required in both FileCatalyst Workflow and HotFolder to submit jobs and files via a HotFolder task. Dragging and dropping files into a HotFolder allows automated submission without human interaction, supports large file transfers, and can upload files directly into file areas. Upcoming events from FileCatalyst were also listed.
UDP accelerated file transfer - introducing an FTP replacement and its benefitsFileCatalyst
The document discusses replacing FTP with a new file transfer solution called FileCatalyst. It describes how TCP, which FTP uses, is inefficient for large file transfers over high latency links. FileCatalyst uses UDP instead of TCP to avoid TCP's flow control limits and congestion response, allowing it to fully utilize available bandwidth. The presentation demonstrates how FileCatalyst outperforms FTP for a variety of transfer scenarios and considers FileCatalyst's support for security, reliability, and automation.
How to integrate FileCatalyst java appletsFileCatalyst
The webinar covered how to integrate FileCatalyst Java applets, including basic and advanced integration options using static values, JSP, and JavaScript. It demonstrated basic, advanced, JavaScript, Ajax, and JNLP integrations and discussed security concerns to ensure smooth operation of signed applets.
A Study of Variable-Role-based Feature Enrichment in Neural Models of CodeAftab Hussain
Understanding variable roles in code has been found to be helpful by students
in learning programming -- could variable roles help deep neural models in
performing coding tasks? We do an exploratory study.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.
Need for Speed: Removing speed bumps from your Symfony projects ⚡️Łukasz Chruściel
No one wants their application to drag like a car stuck in the slow lane! Yet it’s all too common to encounter bumpy, pothole-filled solutions that slow the speed of any application. Symfony apps are not an exception.
In this talk, I will take you for a spin around the performance racetrack. We’ll explore common pitfalls - those hidden potholes on your application that can cause unexpected slowdowns. Learn how to spot these performance bumps early, and more importantly, how to navigate around them to keep your application running at top speed.
We will focus in particular on tuning your engine at the application level, making the right adjustments to ensure that your system responds like a well-oiled, high-performance race car.
