FileCatalyst provides enterprise file transfer solutions that accelerate transfers using software-defined networking and on-demand bandwidth allocation. Their solution includes FileTeleport which allows users to transfer files between locations with guaranteed arrival times. FileCatalyst transfers use a UDP-based protocol and proprietary algorithms to maximize throughput without being affected by latency. The underlying technology includes an SDN controller, bandwidth scheduling software, and file transfer agents that integrate seamlessly into various applications and platforms. FileCatalyst provides centralized management and monitoring of global file transfers on their software-defined media network.
In this webinar, President and Co-Founder of FileCatalyst, John Tkaczewski illustrates additional features available within the FileCatalyst suite that can further optimize your file transfers beyond the UDP protocol.
fast file transfer - FileCatalyst vs FTPFileCatalyst
Fast file transfer is best achieved by replacing FTP. FileCatalyst uses a proprietary UDP-based system to accelerate transfers for rapid uploads and downloads. Even if you are not specifically looking to replace FTP, have a look at the speed comparisons so that you can be aware of how slow FTP can be.

How to Share and Deliver Big Data Fast – Considerations When Implementing Big...FileCatalyst
Big data is growing - in every sense of the word. And an increasing number of companies across a variety of industries are beginning to realize the benefits of leveraging big data and adopting a big data strategy in the workplace. In a recent survey conducted by Gartner it was found that 42% of IT leaders have invested in big data, or plan to do so within 12 months. (Gartner)
When implementing big data within an organization, a strategy must be put in place to fully leverage its benefits. One extremely important big data strategy aspect and often overlooked is how to move this big data from one geographic location to another. File transfer bottlenecks such as failed data transfers and network delays are commonly experienced when transferring massive amounts of data that can easily run into terabytes spread over millions of files.
This IP EXPO 2013 presentation provides an understanding of the challenges and solutions associated with the agile and reliable movement of big data, as well as an overview file transfer technologies optimizing user networks for cost-efficient IT processes. Other takeaways include an understanding of the technology behind accelerated file transfer, its benefits over other methods of file transfer, and an in depth look at why accelerated and managed file transfer should be included in every big data strategy.

Acceleration Technology: Taking Media File Transfers From Days to MinutesFileCatalyst
Delivering and receiving digital content can be challenging - FTP is slow and unreliable, attachment size limits often prevent sending via email and shipping on physical storage solutions is costly and can take days to deliver. Factor in the growing size of today’s media files and the above mentioned methods of file transfer become an inefficient and disruptive processes to media workflows, especially over large geographical distances.
To ensure the effective and fast transfers of digital content, a strategy must be put in place for the swift reliable and secure delivery of files. Adopting a solution that prevents the file transfer bottlenecks commonly experienced when transferring large format media files is crucially important to media and broadcast organizations looking to make timely transfers when sharing files.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

6. Our media transportation solutions
deliver experiences that audiences
want to be part of.
– from stadiums, studios and live
events all over the world.
With on-demand connectivity where
and when needed, we put the end
users in control.
9. Broadcasters are quickly moving to file
based content acquisition, also for
time sensitive media production.
- Internally they rely on proprietary software
- For content exchange with others they often
use inefficient IT/office protocols (FTP)
- Time sensitive exchange can only be solved by
dedicated leased lines – limiting reach and
flexibility.

10. What?
- Programmable
- Centralized control
- Steered by business applications
Why?
- Foundation for delivering bandwidth by-the-minute
- Speed up new service time-to-market
So what?
Media producers are
- In control
- Get connectivity where and when needed
- Pay only for what is used.

Issues
Solving Latency
Issues
Every network suffers from latency
Latency is an expression of how much time it takes for a packet of data to get from one designated point to another.
Network latency is measured by sending a packet and receiving an acknowledgement. This round-trip time (RTT) is
the “latency”.
Visualize the flow of packets like water running through
a hose. With FTP, there is a kink in the hose restricting
the water’s flow. With FileCatalyst, the kink is removed
and water can rush through unrestricted.
FTP is a very serial process. Each packet of data must be
received before a new packet is sent = Decreased transfer
speed
FileCatalyst completely saturates the pipe by sending
multiple blocks of data = Increased transfer speed
