My final project and research topic was on: Pelegrini-Stieda
Syndrome
Calcification of the Medial Collateral Ligament from
excessive trauma and/or flexion/extension activities of the
knee

5. Research Topic to Explore
What topic would I like to explore in the field of health/exercise science?
“Does the functional movement screen help predict injury in
active adult populations?”
I got my FMS (Functional Movement Screen) Level 1 Certification in
between semesters and would like to explore the science and research
behind the screening/movement/etc

6. Experience Presenting
I have presented at the following:
1) Teaching as adjunct professor at a PTA program at
community college
2) Graduate speaker for PTA program
3) Department presentations following continuing education
4) Regional presenter for NC PT Association
5) Receiving Advanced Proficiency for PTA in Neurology from
the American Physical Therapy Association

7. Course Expectations
1) Learn how to find appropriate research
2) Understand how to interpret research effectively
3) Be able to determine types of research designs
4) Become more proficient at understanding and using research
statistics
5) Be able to effectively report on research and it’s importance in
the field of exercise science
