This document provides information about a comparative study module that analyzes texts in relation to their contexts. It discusses how students will compare groups of texts selected from a list to examine how social, cultural and historical contexts influence aspects of the texts. Students will consider purposes and audiences of texts as well as the values, attitudes, and perspectives conveyed. They will complete analytical compositions relating to the comparative study. The document also provides definitions and examples of intertextuality, and prompts students to consider how genre, content, and perspectives are shaped by context and differ between a composer, responder, and other historical readings.
