Interpreting the brief
Brief
I have been asked to make a product aimed towards 16 to 20 year
olds to try and ensure they lead a healthy lifestyle.
I have been instructed by the NHS and by the brief to make sure I
can make an eye-catching advertisement to advise young people to
lead a healthier lifestyle. I can do this through a print advertisement ,
video product or radio advertisement. I am going to further my
research to understand my target audience more as I would like to
know what they are interested in and understand what they would
pay more attention too.
NHS- who are they ?
The NHS are the second largest healthcare company in the world, they offer
a range of free facilities for those in the uk. They are funded from general
taxation. They were formed on the 5th of July 1948 estimated at a budget of
£190.3 million annually.
The NHS help any patients within the uk. The NHS provides the majority
of healthcare in England, including primary care, in-patient care, long-term
healthcare, ophthalmology and dentistry. The National Health Service Act
1946 came into effect on 5 July 1948. Private health care has continued
parallel to the NHS, paid for largely by private insurance: it is used by about
8% of the population, generally as an add-on to NHS services.
Better health
The NHS have made the better health scheme to try and help people lead a
healthier life style,
They have a dedicated website that targets people with mental health issues , as
well as people who aim to drink less alcohol , loose weight and people who
might just want to get active. They have subsections that everyone can active
and get daily emails to make them feel better , they can plan workouts and be
guided with help on how to start memberships with gyms, there are apps that
may help with this too linked on the website.
This is a great way of targeting the audience as it gives advice to anyone of any
age, and helps with multiple things, as well as this it takes stress away from
doctors and GP’s as this indicates people in the right direction and may give
more time to patients who need more vocational help.
My thoughts
Overall I think that I have asked to do this product as it
seems the numbers of unhealthy people have risen due
to covid, life styles, psychographics and demographics. In
the uk in 2022 proved that 63.9% of people are obese,
7% of people eat junk food every day, 20 people die
from smoking everyday and 60% of adults drink up to
14 units of alcohol per week.
This is very worrying and needs to change, therefore my
advert will try and change peoples views on this and
make sure my target audience has a clear understanding
on how to be healthy and also lead a healthy and happy
life.
Previous advertisements
As we can see from this advert it highlights the safety of women, this is a common quote
said by many however these can be things such as tumours or cancerous lumps. The NHS are
clearly advising anyone that finds a lump must see a doctor , and are clearly told they will be
there to see a patient safely. One in two people suffer from cancer as it is a very large killer
around the world the NHS are always trying to detect it before it becomes dangerous.
This is another advert made by the NHS that clearly
highlights the affects of eating and drinking and shows that
eating food can be similar to drinking 2 pints. This advert is
using scare tactics to heavily persuade their audience. They
have shown food in the glass to indicate how unhealthy fatty
foods and alcohol are.
This advert seems to be directed at the older generation I
would estimate around 18-50 year olds as it shows a middle
aged man in the advertisement.
The advert isn’t that appealing as it is quite disgusting and
off putting however this has been made to put a point
across to show the effects of what happens when these
foods and drinks are consumed.
This advert is a prime example of a better health advertisements.
It is aimed at people who smoke to try and advise them not too.
They include bright colours to signify health and happiness, as
well as including signs that state free support.
This advert was made as part of the Stoptober scheme that was
made by the nhs to help people that smoke stop smoking for the
whole of October. It is very popular as well as dry January that
stops people drinking after Christmas in time for the new year.
This advert shows a middle aged man breathing into a balloon .
This indicates the health of the man as he can breathe happily
and healthily , as opposed to someone who cant breathe well due
to smoking.

  • 2. Brief I have been asked to make a product aimed towards 16 to 20 year olds to try and ensure they lead a healthy lifestyle. I have been instructed by the NHS and by the brief to make sure I can make an eye-catching advertisement to advise young people to lead a healthier lifestyle. I can do this through a print advertisement , video product or radio advertisement. I am going to further my research to understand my target audience more as I would like to know what they are interested in and understand what they would pay more attention too.
  • 3. NHS- who are they ? The NHS are the second largest healthcare company in the world, they offer a range of free facilities for those in the uk. They are funded from general taxation. They were formed on the 5th of July 1948 estimated at a budget of £190.3 million annually. The NHS help any patients within the uk. The NHS provides the majority of healthcare in England, including primary care, in-patient care, long-term healthcare, ophthalmology and dentistry. The National Health Service Act 1946 came into effect on 5 July 1948. Private health care has continued parallel to the NHS, paid for largely by private insurance: it is used by about 8% of the population, generally as an add-on to NHS services.
  • 4. Better health The NHS have made the better health scheme to try and help people lead a healthier life style, They have a dedicated website that targets people with mental health issues , as well as people who aim to drink less alcohol , loose weight and people who might just want to get active. They have subsections that everyone can active and get daily emails to make them feel better , they can plan workouts and be guided with help on how to start memberships with gyms, there are apps that may help with this too linked on the website. This is a great way of targeting the audience as it gives advice to anyone of any age, and helps with multiple things, as well as this it takes stress away from doctors and GP’s as this indicates people in the right direction and may give more time to patients who need more vocational help.
  • 5. My thoughts Overall I think that I have asked to do this product as it seems the numbers of unhealthy people have risen due to covid, life styles, psychographics and demographics. In the uk in 2022 proved that 63.9% of people are obese, 7% of people eat junk food every day, 20 people die from smoking everyday and 60% of adults drink up to 14 units of alcohol per week. This is very worrying and needs to change, therefore my advert will try and change peoples views on this and make sure my target audience has a clear understanding on how to be healthy and also lead a healthy and happy life.
  • 7. As we can see from this advert it highlights the safety of women, this is a common quote said by many however these can be things such as tumours or cancerous lumps. The NHS are clearly advising anyone that finds a lump must see a doctor , and are clearly told they will be there to see a patient safely. One in two people suffer from cancer as it is a very large killer around the world the NHS are always trying to detect it before it becomes dangerous.
  • 8. This is another advert made by the NHS that clearly highlights the affects of eating and drinking and shows that eating food can be similar to drinking 2 pints. This advert is using scare tactics to heavily persuade their audience. They have shown food in the glass to indicate how unhealthy fatty foods and alcohol are. This advert seems to be directed at the older generation I would estimate around 18-50 year olds as it shows a middle aged man in the advertisement. The advert isn’t that appealing as it is quite disgusting and off putting however this has been made to put a point across to show the effects of what happens when these foods and drinks are consumed.
  • 9. This advert is a prime example of a better health advertisements. It is aimed at people who smoke to try and advise them not too. They include bright colours to signify health and happiness, as well as including signs that state free support. This advert was made as part of the Stoptober scheme that was made by the nhs to help people that smoke stop smoking for the whole of October. It is very popular as well as dry January that stops people drinking after Christmas in time for the new year. This advert shows a middle aged man breathing into a balloon . This indicates the health of the man as he can breathe happily and healthily , as opposed to someone who cant breathe well due to smoking.
