2. Requirements of the brief
To celebrate the launch of this new NHS campaign, Better Health, the
organisers intend to widen their audience participation to promote the
campaign to a younger generation. Better Health is planning to hold a
series of events to showcase how creative practitioners respond to the
themes explored in the Better Health campaign.
I have been asked to select one of the themes explored in Better Health
campaign and produce a creative outcome in response to the theme.
3. Questionnaire-
Researching the
Target Audience
Using the surveys, I could
understand what the problems
my target audience has when it
comes to their smoking habits.
Thanks to the surveys, I was able
to discover the main areas for my
leaflet and my montage video.
4. Focus Group- Researching the Target
Audience
Questions-
• Do you smoke cigarettes? If yes, Why? If no, Why?
• What do you smoke? (Cigarettes, Vape, E-
Cigarettes, Other)
• What impacts on the body from smoking are you
aware of?
• Do you know how much cigarettes costs?
• Have you ever consider smoking?
• Would you encourage other people to stop smoking,
and why?
• If someone you know was going to start smoking,
would you discourage them?
5. Client Research
With the launch of a new Better Health marketing campaign, people can prevent
the risk of developing serious illnesses and reduce the risk of being hospitalized
for Covid-19. In partnership with Better Health, 15 weight management and
physical activity partners are offering free and discounted offers, and the website
will also provide local weight management support. From reducing the risk of
serious diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and up to 12 types of
cancer, to lower the chances of being hospitalized with Covid-19, the multimedia
campaign highlights the severe health conditions which could be prevented by
losing excess weight and offers free support and guidance to achieve this goal.
10th January 2022, a multimedia Better Health campaign has been launched to
encourage families with young children to eat better and to support families in
finding a simple solution to maintain a healthier diet and to help people prevent the
risk of developing serious illnesses and help reduce the risk of being hospitalized.
The campaign follows a record rise in obesity among children since the
pandemic's start.
Using the client research, I was able
to get a better understanding of who
my client is. With this knowledge I
will be able to represent my client
much better than I could before and
thanks to doing deep-dive into who
the NHS are. I will be able to use my
research to better understand the
needs for my montage video and my
informative leaflet.
6. Existing Campaign
• Stoptober is a great opportunity to encourage smokers to make a quit
attempt and help them sustain it throughout October and beyond.
• This year’s campaign will reach smokers through a range of media
including radio, video on demand and out-of-house display: with an
emphasis on targeting smokers aged 25 to 50 from lower socio-
economic groups who work in routine and manual jobs. The
messaging of the campaign will be “You’ve got what it takes to quit
this Stoptober”, encouraging smokers to quit not only by promoting
the benefits of quitting, but also to give them confidence that they can
quit successfully.
7. Subject Research Area
When researching the subject area, I managed to find out a lot more about
smoking and its impacts than I originally did. This allowed me to get better
understanding of the requirements and necessities to inform people that smoking is
a bad and highly risky. With this knowledge I have learnt from researching the
subject area, I can apply this to my leaflet hopefully answering any questions my
target audience may have when thinking about smoking or quitting.
8. My Plan
• My idea is to do a leaflet and a TV advert on quitting smoking as
I want to do a more informative piece of work. I am doing my
leaflet and TV advert on quitting smoking because I have a step-
dad and a grandad who smoke, and I can see the impact it is
having on them, and I want to inform them and people aged 16-
20 about the effects of smoking and the benefits of not smoking
or quitting smoking. For my Tv advert I am going to compose
some images together showing the different things about
smoking and on quitting smoking, then I am going to put it into
my leaflet .
9. My aims
• For the Better Health campaign, I am looking to do an informative leaflet that
will house a montage video showing different images about smoking and some
images of what smoking does to the body. I will have two different leaflets, one
will be a digital one so that my Tv advert can be embedded in and a physical
one that can be posted through letterboxes and put in hospitals and other
health care facilities (such as surgeries, walk-in clinics etc.) My goal is to
spread important information and promote the NHS Better Health Campaign
so that people aged between 16-20 can understand the risk they are taking
when they decided, are thinking about or are smoking.
