Internally displaced persons (IDPs) are individuals forced to flee their homes due to conflicts, violence, or disasters but remain in their home country. In 2016, there were 31.1 million new displacements globally, with many IDPs facing severe vulnerabilities, limited humanitarian access, and various challenges related to mental health and well-being. Despite outnumbering refugees, the issue of internal displacement receives less attention, highlighting the need for increased focus, resources, and accurate data to address their complex needs.
