This document describes a proposed interactive augmented reality textbook system using handheld devices. The system would allow students to scan textbook pages and see interactive 3D models and simulations overlaid on the page. Three sample textbook pages are described - a map with interactive place labels, an electrical circuit with adjustable components, and a chemistry page with interactive molecular models. The system is designed using Unity and Vuforia SDK and would support interactions like gaze, touch, voice input, and 3D manipulation to help students learn concepts in a more engaging, hands-on way compared to traditional textbooks. Prior related works exploring augmented reality in education are also summarized.
