1. Pressure altimeters measure altitude by sensing static pressure and indicating the level in the atmosphere where that pressure should occur based on the International Standard Atmosphere calibration.
2. There are three types of pressure altimeters - simple, sensitive, and servo-assisted. The sensitive altimeter uses multiple aneroid capsules and precision bearings to increase accuracy.
3. Pressure altimeters can be set to different datums including QFE, QNH, and 1013.25 mb, to indicate height, altitude, and pressure altitude respectively. However, they are subject to errors from non-standard atmospheric conditions.
